9.2.0.6 is not a basic release,it's a patchset and available on metalink only. You need a valid support contract.

  • Oracle client software supported on Windows 7 for Oracle 10

    Hi
I am looking for looking to upgrade the Oracle client software (not instant client) to find a version that support Windows 7. We currently use 10.2.0 On XP.
I can only find version 11g downloads but our database server is 10
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html
I'm getting the impression Oracle intentionally does not allow older downloads even though they are still supported.
Where can I get a Oracle client software supported on Windows 7 for Oracle 10.
    thanks

I can only find version 11g downloads but our database server is 10Oracle 11 client will work just fine with a 10g database. However, 10g is currently only on "sustaining" support. You are WAAY overdue to upgrade the db.

I'm getting the impression Oracle intentionally does not allow older downloads even though they are still supported. You need to look at the level of "supported" for 10g. A software company can't support old versions forever, and by limiting the download of those old versions, they limit the number of new support calls for them.

again, since you are concerned with the client software, you should just get the 11g client. It will work fine with your 10g database.
    thanks

  • Oracle Client requirement for BO XI 3.1 Desktop Intelligence

Will the BO XI3.1 Infoview or Desktop Intelligence work with Oracle 8i Client on the user's desktop? Or do they need to Oracle client versions 9i and greater.

    Hi
for Desktop Intelligence XI 3.1 the oldest officially supported version of Oracle is Oracle 9.2 over the native client (Oracle Net Client 9.2). What you can try though is to use the Oracle ODBC driver since Generic ODBC sources are also supported.

  • ESX VM for solaris x64

    Hi,
I am trying to create a solaris 64 inside an esx vm.
I have the iso-dvd for the x64/x86; but when i finish install it shows i386 from isainfo.
In that ESX host, i do have a windows server 2003 r2 enterprise x64 edition (which i believe confirms that the host is capable of 64bit).
    can you please tell me:
    a. when you are installing is there a way to make sure the OS installed is x64 or this is done automatically? should i change anything? i did copy the entire dvd for the iso reference on the cd/dvd selection under the esx install.
the install goes to completion; however when it comes to boot, the only way to boot is through fail safe
for the first option on boot is:
    solaris 10 - 11/06 s10x_w2wos_10 x86
    for some reason it automatically select the x86;
can you help me identify what is going on?
the host = ESX is a hp xw6600 workstation
    thank you,
    ,./antonio/.

There may have been a comminication problem here. There is really two Java VMs at Oracle, the one that runs in the Database (named Oracle Database JVM) and the one that is shipped with JDeveloper which is named the Oracle Client JVM. The Oracle Client JVM is currently only available for Windows.

  • Searching Oracle 8.1.7 Client for Solaris on x86/Intel

    Hi all,
I need an Oracle client 8.1.7 running on a Sun Solaris on a Intel/x86 chipset (in VMware)
Exists there any location to download this client?
    thanx for help!
    Andreas

Are there plans to have a Solaris x86 version downloadable on OTN? I am making the OS decision for a new development server. I would like it to be Solaris x86 but if Oracle is a no-go on Solaris x86, I will have to use Linux or... hate to say it... M$

  • Multiple Oracle Clients on Same Machine for different apps

I was not able to find info that answered this so sorry if I missed something that explains this.
At our site we have many applications some I know lots about some I'm not even aware of because we have mulitple sites. The application I develop uses an Oracle 8.1.7 database. In the next year we are going to be upgrading to a 9i database. The app I program for is written in VB and uses 0040 with the 7.3.4 version. We want to upgrade our client to the latest version to use all the features of the 9i database when that times comes. Can we have our 9i client on the same machine that may have other apps that require the 8i client or even the 7.3.4 client without breaking them? The other apps may or may not use 0040. Some of these apps are Oracle Forms applications and some can be anything under the sun.
I still need to do testing to see what breaks but thought someone may already have the answers some of my ?'s Any tips or info you can provide would be great.
    Thanks

    Two possible answers
    1) Oracle added multi-home support to the Oracle client in 8i (may have been 8.0, I'm really not sure). This allows you to set up multiple 8i and above clients on a single machine in different Oracle Homes and should solve the majority of your problems. Having a 7.3.4 client installed wouldn't be supported, but 8i clients should have no difficulty connecting to a 7.3.4 database.
When Oracle added multi-home support, not all the Oracle client products were made multi-home compatible. The ODBC driver, for example, wasn't multi-home compatible until significantly later patchsets. I belive that OO4O has been multi-home compatible since the client has been, though.
    2) From a technical standpoint, you should be able to have a 7.3.4 client alongside 8i and above clients. In my experience, this works, but isn't something that Oracle supports.

  • Installing Latest Oracle Client & ODT for Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Windows 7 64-bit. I would think that using 32-bit Java, 32-bit Oracle Client and 32-bit ODAC would work just fine on this operating system. However, I had no luck getting it to run. Here is what I did and a few reasons why I prefer to never work with Oracle products:
    Installed 32-bit JDK/JRE (1.6 Update 25)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 1
Tested connectivity from SQL Developer successfully
Installed 32-bit ODT (11g R3) to Home 1 (installer noted upgrades and new installs)
Failed connectivity from all things windows (ODBC, ADO, ADO.Net)
    Uninstalled 32-bit ODT
Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (oraparam.ini file missing among other issues)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 2
Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (told to use deinstall tool)
Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 2 (told to use deinstall tool)
Failed to run uninstall tool in Home 1 (told to download standalone deinstall tool)
Uninstalled 32-bit Oracle Client Home 2 (completed successfuly with errors - seriously?)
Uninstalled 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (completed successfully, but couldn't delete folder)
Oracle.DataAccess and Oracle.Web are still installed in GAC. Uninstall attempts fail (access denied)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 1
Tested connectivity from SQL Developer successfully
Tested connectivity from .Net 3.5 successfully (using 32-bit 2.0 dll)
Tested connectivity from .Net 4.0 successfully (using 32-bit 2.0 dll)
Does anyone have any suggestions on getting Oracle Data Tools for Windows to work before I try that again?

I realize ODT uses ODP, but installing release 3 upgraded the .Net 2.0 ODP DLLs (which were installed from the Oracle Client 11g Release 2 install) and added the .Net 4.0 DLLs. After that install everything stopped working from Windows land and then it took the better part of two hours to get it back to what it looked like prior to the install. The other thing weird thing I noticed is that although Oracle.DataAccess is registered in the 2.0 GAC I cannot add a reference that way using VS2010. I have to manually add a reference to the file path. Although it still appears I do not have to have the assembly copied locally to run, so the GAC registration seems to be working in that regard.

  • Is it necessary to have oracle client installed for remote access thru' jdbc type2 driver?

If I want to use oracle oci type 4 driver, do I need to install oracle
    client?
or is it sufficient to put dll in classpath and classes12.zip in
    classpath.
I can then specify in jdbc url the host:port:sid and not use the alias
    from tnsnames.ora
I will be connecting to remote oracle database ofcourse.
    Komal.

you need the Oracle client libraries installed.
And the easiest way to do this is to make an oracle client installation.
the DLL files should be in your PATH, not classpath.
