Are the query plans the same on the two servers? Do they have the same data? The same initialization parameters? Are your statistics accurate?

I am in the same boat, I have downloaded what was told to download and it doesn't install it keeps saying "Unknown" 3 times in a popup when I try to install.Oracle has roughly 3,000 products. You downloaded 'what you were told' - one of those 3,000 products. And it didn't work.
The amount of information you provide is surprisingly sparse, assuming you want assistance.
So - if you want help, you might wnat to provide some information:
    - the operating system (including edition, and major service pack if WIndows, or distro && major/minor release and kernel if *nix)
    - the URL froim which you downloaded
    - the country yuo are in (since ORacle could redirect to several sitres based on region)
    - the command or executable, including directory path, you run or double-click on
    - the 'exact' error message, or if a generic one like "Unknown", perhaps a screen shot to convince us that it is actually such a generic message
It's just a suggestion, but answering in such detail actually tells us you are serious about resolving the issue - you put in effort, and that may convince us to return some effort.

  • What's the difference between client combo and server combo? Also, what would happen if I install both?

what's the difference between client combo and server combo? Also, what would happen if I install both?

One is for the base version of the Mac OS, the other is for the Server version. You can only install the one that matches your system.

  • Supporting both Oracle clients 10 and 11

    Hello,
We have to deploy an application to different client computers - each could have Oracle client 10 or 11.
We don't want to ask users to change to another Oracle client, but we can ask them to install ODP support for their client.
My question is: is ti possible our application to be compatible with both Oracle clients (10 and 11)? How to achieve that?
Or it should detect client version and somehow use different ODP?
    Thanks

The first thing to do is to go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and be sure the auto analyzer is turned off.

  • Difference between client proxy and server proxy

    hi all,
could u explain me the differences between client proxy and server proxy,
    regards,
    AVR

    Hi AV,
simple search in sdn may answer your question,
There are two type of Proxy's in ABAP and JAVA(Clinet and Server),
Clinet ABAP proxy used to send message from ANY SAP System to Integration server,in this case XI adapter not required .
Server ABAP proxy used to send messages from Intergration server to any SAP System,in this case XI Adapter required.
How to implement ABAP proxy comunication refer below link

The sama way Client JAVA proxy used to send message to Integration sever from any Web Application ,
Server JAVA proxy used to send messages to any destination system ,in both cases XI adapter required.

  • Get ip address of client machine and server

    Respected experts,
I want to get ip address of the client machin and server machine.
Which method should i use for getting this.

    drvijayy2k2 wrote:
    hi
    i am not sure
but try request / servletrequest -> getRemoteHost() and getLocalHost()There isn't any getLocalHost() method for HTTPServletRequest. And in anycase, the getXXXHost() methods would return the hostname. You'll only get an IP address if the name cannot be resolved.
    @OP:
[getRemoteAddr()|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/api/javax/servlet/ServletRequest.html#getRemoteAddr()] - be warned that this may be the IP address of the last proxy in the chain
[getLocalAddr()|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/api/javax/servlet/ServletRequest.html#getLocalAddr()] - this is the address of the interface that the request came in on, so for a server with multiple NICs, you will only be getting one possible IP address.

  • Any docs on HOW TO INSTALL ORACLE CLIENT ON OBIEE SERVER?`

    Thanks...

Generally speaking the way to installing Oracle Client does not depend directly on the product that is going to use it
If some product requires some specific Oracle Client versions or Oracle Client configurations you should find this information in the product documentation (i.e OBIEE Server) and not in Oracle Client documentation.
You can find Oracle Client documentation (named "Database Client") in the Installation sections of tahiti.oracle.com. For example for 11.2: http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/portal.portal_db?selected=11&frame=#microsoft_windows_installation_guides.

If your running from the CD, then you need to copy all the files to your network somewhere.
Once on the network/hard disk, search the contents of the CD for a file named symcjit.dll and rename to symcjit.old. There will be more than 1 of these files, and you must rename all of them.
    Then run setup again.

  • Can't find how and where to downaload the Oracle Client 8i and Developer 6i

    All,
I am looking for downloads at OTN for the following.
    1. Oracle Client 8i
    2. Oracle Forms and Reports 6i
I had them installed on my m/c but lately I have been getting SQL*Net connection failures. I have been suggested to install the whole developer tools again.
Any help in this regard is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Susheel K Raina.

Here is the link - I just verify prior to posting it here.
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/forms/content.html
For the Oracle 8i client, download the 8i database server and do a custom installation - client installation is one of the options.
    hope this proves useful

  • Oracle client for siebel server configuration

    Hi ,
To install siebel as prerequisite we are installing oracle client on the siebel server machine. Our client is providing ldap.ora instead of tnsnames.ora file. Through out my earlier projects we used to have tnsnames.ora entry which is having connection details of database. CAn you Please confirm instead of having tnsnames.ora , can we use ldap .ora which is having Db server details in it. Have you ever seen other clients using this way without tnsnames.ora for siebel installation.
Can you please provide any documentation which confirms that we must need tnsnames.ora, not ldap.ora.
    Thanks much in advance.

  • Install PeopleTools 8.53 with Linux Issue: Client Windows and Server Linux

    Folks,
Hello. I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 Internet Architecture. Database Server is Oracle Dabase 11gR1. OS is Oracle Linux 5. I have installed JDK7, WebLogic 10.3.6, Tuxedo 11gR1 and PeopleTools 8.53 successfully into Oracle Linux 5.
Now, I am setting up PeopleTools8.53 Database. Because the Install Wizard has problem, I set up PeopleTools 8.53 Database manually using Oracle starter database instance named PT853. We need to run Data Mover script in a Windows Client machine to populate PeopleSoft Database instance in Linux Sever machine.
    Let's assume:
    VM1: Server machine - Oracle Linux 5
VM2: Client machine - Windows XP
    Nicolas has this tutorial:
    http://gasparotto.blogspot.com/2008/01/on-peoplesoft-road-peoplesoft-database_10.html
From step 15 to step 23, Nicolas does not explain how to connect VM2(client) with VM1(server) and load data from VM2 to VM1.
    My questions are:
First, do we need to install PeopleTools 8.53 Windows version into the Client machine Windows XP while installing PeopleTools 8.53 Linux version in the Server machine Oracle Linux 5 ?
Second, how to connect VM2 with VM1 and then load data from VM2 to VM1 ?
    Thanks.

So if I understand correctly, you have already created the oracle instance in the Linux machine. Then there is no need to install the Tools again in the Linux machine unless you want to run data mover at Linux.
You can just install the tools and oracle client in windows and load the data by running the data mover from windows. Connection happens through Oracle Client using TNS.
    Steps involved are
    1. Creating the database using createdb10.sql or otherwise (you have already done this)
    2. Run utlspace.sql
    3. Run dbowner.sql
    4. Run ptddl.sql - considering that you are just installing a Tools database and not any application database
    5. Run psadmin.sql
    6. Run psroles.sql
    7. Run connect.sql
Create the data load dms file by using DBSETUP in data mover
Run the created script and load the data
This information is available in any peopletools installation doc
    Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to have Oracle client 7 and 9 at the same time?

I have Windows XP and I need to have both clients at the same time in the same machine.
Is it possible to have multiple oracle homes, one for each client version?
    thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick replay...I supposed that answers but I have seen some info where it said that Oracle Client releases previous to 8.0.4 supports only single home.
The case is my customer has already installed and Oracle Client 7 to access some old database, now we need to install on the same computer a Oracle Client 9.2, you mean there is no problem with this ?
    Thanks in advance....

  • ODAC vs oracle client on Windows server 2008

    Hello,
Apologies in advanced if this is a silly question.
I am currently working with a .NET application team that connects to oracle. I am attempting to host there application on my servers. I have tested connectivity to there DB with SQLplus using the 11.2 oracle client.
The application team is asking me to install Oracle Developer tools on the server to replace the client. One of the members of the operate team told me that this is a requirement for there application to talk to oracle. I don't necessarily think they are correct, are there any oracle dependence that would require to ODT to be installed to run a .net application on a server? It's my understanding that ODT is primary used as a plug in for VS.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dax

You are correct that you do not need the Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio to be installed on the server. What the team is probably meaning to ask is for you to install "Oracle Data Provider for .NET" which is also part of the ODAC install. They probably got the two names mixed up.

  • Do client's and server's JVM need to be from same vendor?

    Hi,
    1) Is a reference to object in the server valid in client if a different vendord JVM is used?
Each JVM vendor implements references in a different way.
Say client's JVM is Microsoft and Server's is SUN
in such a situation will a remote reference be interpreted correctly in client's JVM?
    2) What are contents of a object-reference?
I know that it depends on implementation.
    How does sun do?
are both declared datatypes and runtime type of references stored?
    If so where?
An object has both data and methods(class instance)
Therefore will it have 1 ptr to where data is stored
and one pointer to class instance for access to methods
Then where are decalared and defined reference types stored

No they do not. See, the JVM is nothing more than a specification, like CORBA. What is an implementation of CORBA? an orb, right? You can be sure that every ORB out there implements the full spec of corba......they do so differently, but they MUST do so. The same with JVMs. They're impl style can be different, but they MUST fulfill all the specs of what is called the JVM.
