Oracle Client for Windows 2008 R2

is there a 10g or 11g cleint available for Windows 2008 R2? The latest Win64 or Windows 2008 clients all give me an error that saus it supports versions up to 6.0 and I have version 6.1

There is a work around that can help to install 11g release 1 on windows 2008 R2
The installer can be executed in compatability mode by right clicking on setup.exe and select "Troubleshoot compatibility" then "Troubleshoot Program" then check option "The program worked in earlier versions of windows......." then choose "Windows Server 2003 (with service pack 1)" and in the last step click "start the program" button.
hope tihs will start installing Oracle 11g Release 1 on Windows Server 2008

  • Oracle Client for Windows 2008 R2 server to connect to Oracle database 9iR2

    Hi,
We are running Oracle 9.2.0.7 on Sun solaris (64 Bit) 5.10 and trying to install client on new Windows 2008 R2 (64 - bit) server. (Before this 2008 R2 we were using Windows 2003 32 bit and 9iR2 client was working great.) I can't install 9iR2 clinet and I tried installing 10gR1, 10gR2 and 11gR1 but none of them worked. It is only allowing me to install 11gR2. When I installed 11gR2 client I am getting some 'overflow exception on an arithmetic operation' error.
1.) Do I have any choice for client installation or only 11gR2?
2.) Any solution for overflow error?
    Thanks,

May I know the reason why ODBC driver is not include in option like Runtime?Oracle software utilizes SQL*Net (not ODBC) to connect to Oracle RDBMS.
ODBC is not required by Oracle client software to connect to Oracle RDBMS.

  • Oracle Client for windows.

    Hi,
I just downloaded the Oracle 10g client for Windows.I cant figure out whats the next step.I was expecting to see a .exe file and kind of an installation wizard which would guide me through the process. In the instant client that I downloaded,I see 2 files:
    adrci and genezi.
I think I am in the wrong place. Please advise.
    Thanks

The file you downloaded should be a large .zip file (almost 500 meg).
    Unzip it (with directories intact).
Then at the top level directory you should see setup.exe (or something like that).

I am in the same boat, I have downloaded what was told to download and it doesn't install it keeps saying "Unknown" 3 times in a popup when I try to install.Oracle has roughly 3,000 products. You downloaded 'what you were told' - one of those 3,000 products. And it didn't work.
The amount of information you provide is surprisingly sparse, assuming you want assistance.
So - if you want help, you might wnat to provide some information:
    - the operating system (including edition, and major service pack if WIndows, or distro && major/minor release and kernel if *nix)
    - the URL froim which you downloaded
    - the country yuo are in (since ORacle could redirect to several sitres based on region)
    - the command or executable, including directory path, you run or double-click on
    - the 'exact' error message, or if a generic one like "Unknown", perhaps a screen shot to convince us that it is actually such a generic message
It's just a suggestion, but answering in such detail actually tells us you are serious about resolving the issue - you put in effort, and that may convince us to return some effort.

  • Oracle client on Window 2008 R2?

    Hi all!
I'm trying to install Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 client on a 64bit Windows Server 2008, without success. Best result I got so far is 'installed' client and provider, but unable to run the config tools, or use the provider.
Reason: I'm doing this is trying to integrate an old legacy Oracle 8.1.7 database with SQL Server 2008 R2 using linked servers.
Anyone has any guidelines and idea ? please help,
    Thanks,
    Angus

Currently, no Oracle software is certified for Win7. Rumor is that Oracle plans to certify only 11gR2 for Win7 - ETA is unknown. That said - there are some people who have been successful using the Windows 2008 version of Oracle s/w on Windows 7. Sometimes using the 'ignore system prerequisites' flag will work. A search in the forum will yield some info.
Not that I would recommend that operation in production.

  • Connect from Windows Client to Oracle 10g for Windows 64-bit

Have an environment currently running Oracle 10g 32-bit on Windows 2000 Standard, and need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-bit for Windows. Users connect to the 10g 32-bit database using the Oracle Client for Windows 10g loaded on remote PC's. If we migrate to the Oracle 10g 64-bit on Windows 2003 Server Enteprise Edition 64-bit, what type of client do I have to install on the PC's to access the Oracle 10g 64-bit database?
Any ehlp/insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Eduardo in Michigan

In addition to install 32-bit Oracle client to 32-bit Windows OS, you need to know whether your application is compiled to run in 32-bit or 64-bit.
This is critical because 32-bit application can not see 64-bit Oracle ODBC and OLE DB provider.
For example, MS SQL Server 2005 uses 32-bit DTS, and SSIS, which needs 32-bit Oracle client
If you don't know, get a copy of both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, and try one-by-one to know for sure. Please be aware that if regsvr32.exe in the Windows has been overwritten by older software installation, it won't register some DLL properly, and Oracle ODBC, or OLE DB won't show up as well

Beware that for Windows 2008 R2 you need at least 10.2.0.4. Install 10.2.0.3 found on technet and upgrade from Metalink Patch.

  • How do I set-up on %ORACLE_HOME%\bin for Oracle client on Windows XP

How do I set-up on %ORACLE_HOME%\bin for Oracle client on Windows XP?
The Oracle bin directory is: C:\oracle\ora90\bin
    Thank you!

If you are asking how to setup the resolution of %ORACLE_HOME%\bin to C:\oracle\ora90\bin, you must create a system environment variable called ORACLE_HOME that is set to a value of C:\oracle\ora90.
    Kind regards,

  • Where can I download the Oracle 10g R2 clients for Windows 7?

Where can I download the Oracle 10g R2 clients for Windows 7?

    Welcome to the forums !
Pl identify exact versions of "10gR2" and Windows 7. The only certified combination is 10.2.0.5 on Win 7 Professional or higher. Home version of Windows is not supported. Using uncertifed combinations will result in the software not working as advertised.

    1. This is the forum for windows 9x
    2. There is no official client for 2008 (yet), but several posters have
claimed success with the Vista client.

  • Install Oracle 10g on windows 2008 Server 64bit

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 64bit . I read one post below it says , windows 2008 is not certified for oracle 10g ..
    windows server 2008 Oracle 10G 64 bit
before I installed 32bit , it is throwing error message on alert log file on every 5 seconds.
"OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
    O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. ! "
if it is possible which version I want to download is best ..
and what is the recommendation whether it is 10g or 11g

You mean to say Oracle 10g 64bit will not work in Windows 2008..?No, i meaned the post you linked was written in year 2008, in that year it's was a unsupported platform for that oracle version. Actually its supported and you can install it.
Furthermore like Aman told you, It's more recommended install 11gR2 version
