Oracle client software supported on Windows 7 for Oracle 10

Hi
I am looking for looking to upgrade the Oracle client software (not instant client) to find a version that support Windows 7. We currently use 10.2.0 On XP.
I can only find version 11g downloads but our database server is 10
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html
I'm getting the impression Oracle intentionally does not allow older downloads even though they are still supported.
Where can I get a Oracle client software supported on Windows 7 for Oracle 10.
thanks
Paul

I can only find version 11g downloads but our database server is 10Oracle 11 client will work just fine with a 10g database. However, 10g is currently only on "sustaining" support. You are WAAY overdue to upgrade the db.

I'm getting the impression Oracle intentionally does not allow older downloads even though they are still supported. You need to look at the level of "supported" for 10g. A software company can't support old versions forever, and by limiting the download of those old versions, they limit the number of new support calls for them.

again, since you are concerned with the client software, you should just get the 11g client. It will work fine with your 10g database.

  • Which are the lowest versions of UCM and UCCX with corresponding client software supported on Windows 7 64bit?

    Hello,
currently using UCM 7.0(2) and CIPC 7.0.2 for hotline using UCCX 7.0(1) and Agent Desktop 6.6.54.
Which CUCM and UCCX Versions are needed to support Win7 64bit Client Software and which Version of CIPC can than be used?
We dont want to upgrade to latest versions yet! We only want to realise 64bit compatability for our clients. Therefore upgrading to lastest releases of UCM an UCCX would not be the correct answer.
My understaning of release documentation for this is following.
    Win7 64bit supported when
    UCM 7.0(2) using CIPC 7.0.4 or 8.6
    UCCX 7.0(2) using CAD 7.0.2xxxx
Therfore we only have to do a maintenance update of UCCX from 7.0(1) to 7.0(2) to get new CAD Version compatible to 64bit.
Next we only have to update CIPC from 7.0.2 to 7.0.4 or 8.6 regardless of the UCM version because both newer CIPC version list CUCM 7.0 as compatible system.
    I'm I right here????
Additionally is the expectable update cost free or does it bring any change in licensing?
PS: I know some other client software is not 64bit compatible in this solution like historical reporting client and so on. but this is no K.O. criteria and can be compensated otherwise.

My apologies John I didn't realize that I was addressing the official custodian of Photoshop.

  • How do we determine the version of the Oracle CLIENT software??

I am sure someone in a large organization has had to deal with this...
We have hundreds of machines in our environment and over the years have loaded the Oracle client software on many... So now I am looking at implementing the July set of Oracle Security patches and there are patches for the Client machines in this release...
Looking at our list, we have machines with oracle 8, 9 and 10 (and almost every subversion known to Oracle) Clients out there... and of course each of these versions and sub-version use a different patch for windows...
so the question is, is there a quick way of identify exactly what version of the software is loaded... preferably programmatically... Running SQL*Plus on each machine manually is probably not an option.
We already have software that can scan each machine identify if a specific program is loaded and it's size and maybe pull the contents... (I know there is a $ORACLE_HOME/inventory/ContentsXML/comps.xml file in 10g that might tell us what we need to know, but I don't know if it goes back to 8/8i or not...)
This would also help me plan a migration plan for some of these older clients also...
    Thanks.

This is a little late, but may be it will help someone else in the future.
There may be an easier way, but this is what works for me.
Log into ADI. Go to the Request Center. Click the ‘tool’ icon.
It looks like a hammer and screwdriver.
On the next screen, look in the bottom left corner.
It will show the version of ADI.

  • Is Oracle Client software must in Sql Server 2005 Box to connect ORACLE

We need to connect ORACLE from SqlServer 2005
    1. We would like to know is Oracle Client Software MUST needed to be installed in SqlServer 2005 to connect ORACLE.
    2. Do we have any other means?
    3. Will Oracle OLE DB Provider for Oracle help us in establishing Linked Server to ORACLE

Probably late in the day for this but
The workbench cannot handle SS2K5 directly at the moment. However as long as no new SS2K5 functionality has been used with a few tweaks this can be achieved.
    1. Firstly use the SS2K offline capture scripts to build the directories for the database(s) you want to capture.
    2 Secondly edit
    (a) SS2K_SYSLOGINS.dat and take out long SS2K5 user records
    (b) SS2K_SYSINDEXES.dat change FIRST ( forth column) to a value (say hex 1).
    (c) SS2K_SYSUSERS.dat change ROLES (sixth column) to a value (say hex 1).
This should now load into the workbench. If it does not check the error.log file in <OMWB HOME>\log.

  • Question about Oracle Client Software

    Hi!
I'm going to develop a software which will access an Oracle Database somewhere on the network. This software will be developed using C++ language and will run on a Linux RedHat 7.3 machine.
Searching for APIs to connect with Oracle Database, I found OCI and OCCI, which I think will do this job. Also, in another thread in this group, I found that I have to install Oracle Client Software on the machine which will run my software. Then I came into a question: is it possible to install Oracle Client Software alone in a machine, I mean, without the entire database? If yes, how about the licenses? Do I have to have a Oracle Client License for each machine running my software or is it free for Linux?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware Java API Reference for Oracle ADF Mobile

Where can I find "Oracle Fusion Middleware Java API Reference for Oracle ADF Mobile"?
Thanks a lot for your time.

Hi, this is referring to the JavaDocs for Java methods/classes supported by ADF Mobile. You can typically right (or ctrl) click on any ADF Mobile specific Java method and select "JavaDoc". You can open up a sample app that contains any Java class - for example the HR sample app, and find any method with name "adfmf*". You should be able to see the Java doc for the ADF Mobile related methods/classes.

  • Unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver

I am unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver vers.2.573.4202.00 on a Win98 computer.
First, I create a "Net Service Name" in order for the ODBC Driver to find the Oracle server. I then created a System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator and assigned the "Net Server Name" as the server in the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup". But when I test this DSN with Oracle's provided "Oracle ODBC 32Bit Test vers.2.5.3.1.0" I get an error:
    SQLSTATE: NA000
    Native Error Code:0
    Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
This error occurred on all three Win98 computers I have tried. It does however, seem to work fine on WinNT 4.0, and believe it or not, on the two Win95 computers I have tried.
Does anyone have any fixes, recomendations, or advice?
    Thank you,
    Eric Edwards

Why are yu not using the Oracle ODBC driver - these can be downloaded from OTN.
Have you set up a tnsnames.ora entry for the Oracle database you want to connect to? Does this name have a domain name added to it? Check %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora for the service name. If it is a name of the form :
    name.domain.subdomain
then you should try using this full name when configuring the ODBC data source.

    Hello All,

    Incorrect environment variable PLUS_DFLT
    Program execution error.
i also need access to Oracle ODBC driver.
When i try to configure ODBC source (created by user with administrator privileges) by common user i get following errors :
The setup routines for Oracle for Oracle in OraHome9i ODBC driver couldn't be loaded due to system error code 5
Could not load the setup or translator library
    Very appreciate for any help.
    Regards Arkadiusz Masny

It sounds like the users on the machine do not have access to the Oracle home directory. Check the permissions of the folder by right properties, select the user and check that they have read and then select advanced. Tick the "replace permission entries....." box and apply. This will re apply all user rights in all folders and subfolders. Try again.

  • Patch for Oracle Client Software

    Hi,
i have download oracle 10.2.0.5 patch set on the Oracle server..
i have a Oracle client machine with oracle 10.2.0.4 client.
Can i install the same patch in the Oracle client machine?

    Hi,
Ok let me explain in detail
First there will not be any separate client patchset or client software and you need apply the server patchset to client
    what will happen?
Only client related components will be upgraded.
server will consists of lot of other components compare to client
but when you upgrade client, only client related components will upgraded it will not touch the other components
Note: make sure that you have a valid oracle client backup ie 10.2.0.4.
    Kind Regards,

  • Installation of Oracle Client 32 bit on Windows 64 bit

    Hi ,
I'm trying to install the 32 bit Oracle client (release 11.2.0) on a Windows server with 64 bit (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Service Pack 1).
It's my understanding that this is supported and should work. However, the 64 bit Oracle client (release 11.2.0) is already installed on the server.
We need the 32 bit client since an older application requires this.
The GUI for the install of the client starts fine - but when the step "Finish installation" the GUI suddenly disappeares. The logfile of the installation ends
    with
INFO: Setting the value  for INSTALL_TYPE variable

I'm executing the installation as a local admin - I've tried the installation with setting the compatibility mode to Windows 2000. No success at all :-(
Did I get it wrong that ths 32 bit client is certified with this windows version? Does anybody have experience with the same situation?
    Any help will be appreciated!

  • Oracle Client 11g R2 in Windows 7 connecting a RAC server

I have the following setup in my laptop
    Windows 7
    Oracle Client 11g R2
I'm trying to connect "SQL plus" to a load balanced server (RAC) configured as below
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
TNS for HPUX: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
The problem is, the connection creation is not consistent. It is throwing the following error randomly.
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
I'm able connect to another server (not RAC) without any issues. Even TOAD is giving the same error. After few tries, it works.
Anyone facing the same problem, got any solution???
    Thanks

I've done all the checklists suggested but I'm still getting the error. The problem is not with the network and the servers cos I'm working in a Company and when I had Windows XP SP 3 and Oracle Client 10gR2 all was working fine. I'm with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit now. I'm almost sure the problem is with Windows 7 x Oracle Client but it's hard to figure out what's going on. Does anyone have idea what could it be ??I would generate a client side sqlnet trace, then go on a fishing expedition. There's a lot of dense stuff in a full trace, but if you don't panic and just try to make sense of what you can, you'll probably flush it out.
To enable the trace, go to your sqlnet.ora file and add these lines:
    TRACE_FILE_CLIENT=clientsqlnet.trc
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_CLIENT=C:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\trace

    Hi, All!
I need to install Oracle Client on test Windows 2008 Server, based on Itanium processors.
11g client is preferred, and 10g client at least.
I know, that Win2008 is not supported yet for Oracle Database, but, may be, there are way to install it on my own risk (its test server).

Sorry for coming back late on this thread... I have installed Oracle 11g on Windows 2008 but it was a Xeon processor not Itanium.
On a side note, am I wrong in saying Oracle should not be bothered about the underlying hardware (whether Intel or AMD or any proprietary hardware)? It is then the responsibility of the operating system to ensure that the product behavio(u)r is same across platforms.
