Oracle Client TimeZone Files

Hi,
I have several window servers with the Oracle Client installed.
These servers connect to our Oracle DB server on 2003 windows.
I want to apply the Jan 2010 CPU patch to the DB and this says it must be version 4 timezone files.
How do I check the clients timezone files on the other servers to match version 4 of the DB ?
Thanks,

listener.ora is must in server
tnsnames.ora is must in client and in server (if multiple servers are integrated through database by application)
sqlnet.ora is optional in both client and server (is must if domain naming is used)

    Hi,
There is no record option with 11gR2.
There is no need to use '-record' flag to record/save the response file. At Summary page of installation, 11gR2 installer provides option to save the response file. We can perfom the silent installation using this saved response file
    Unix:
    ./runInstaller -silent -responseFile <saved_response-file>
    Windows:

  • Where to download Oracle client installation .exe file

    Hi,
I need to install an Oracle client on a Windows Server 2008 (32-bit), how do I do that?
I want to install Oracle client version 10.2.0.4 (Instant Client Package - Basic: All files required to run OCI, OCCI, and JDBC-OCI applications).
I can't find a .exe installation file, does anyone one know if there is a .exe file available and if so where can I download it? I have just found .jar installation files.

    Hello,
I have just downloaded Oracle Client 10i for Windows for three times.
And all three times I was not able to extract files from archieve.
Some files in archieve were corrupted!
Size of lots of extracted files did not match the uncompressed size recorded in zip file.
So, Something wrong with source file or something wrong with connection.
I used two times ReGet and one time GEtRight to download file.
What is going on and what should I do to get Oracle client 10i for Windows?

Is the file exactly the same (byte for byte) all three times you downloaded it? If it is, the source file may be corrupt. If it isn't, you may be having some network trouble.

  • How i install oracle client with ODBC using response file method

    Hi,
I have managed to create a response file using OUI. Currently, I do not know what are the methods which i can install a group of computers using this response file. Any advise
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Tony

Presumably, any method that allows you to remotely run code on the group of computers would allow you to do a silent install of the Oracle client and ODBC driver. I know Microsoft and various third parties sell such tools, but I'm not enough of a Windows admin to know anything about the relative benefits of the products in this category.

  • I REALLY need to find Oracle Client File

I was installing a copy of Oracle 8i - 8.1.7 on a Unix operating system. After installation I tried to locate the client file so that I can start up the client, but to my surprise I could not find the client file(s) - program. Do you know what filename under the Oracle directory contains the client file. Without this I cannot run any of the great wizards that Oracle has to offer.

Well, there are a whole lot of files that come under the broad category of 'Oracle client'. There's presumably a /bin directory that has a number of utilities like SQL*Plus available...

Well, from our .rsp files for Database Client installs:
    oracle.client:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.winprod:10.2.0.1.0"}
    oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.odbc:10.2.0.1.0"}
    # ODBC
    #oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.odbc:10.2.0.1.0"}
    # OLE DB
    #oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.ntoledb:10.2.0.1.0"}
    # ODP.NET för .NET v1
    #oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.ntoledb.odp_net:10.2.0.1.0"}
If you need ODP for .NET v2, you should complement the Oracle Home with install from ODAC 10.2.0.2.x (what a mess, isn't it).

  • Oracle database downgrade  from 11.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 and timezone files

    Hi,
I would like to test downgrade process through the scripts (@catdwgrd.sql). Oracle documentation http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18283_01/server.112/e17222/downgrade.htm
    says
"2.If you previously installed a recent version of the time zone file and used the DBMS_DST PL/SQL package to upgrade TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE data to that version, then you must install the same version of the time zone file in the release to which you are downgrading. For example, the latest time zone files that are supplied with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2) are version 14 as of this printing. If after the database upgrade, you had used DBMS_DST to upgrade the TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE data to version 14, then install the version 14 time zone file in the release to which you are downgrading. This ensures that your TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE data is not logically corrupted during retrieval. To find which version your database is using, query V$TIMEZONE_FILE"
    1) In my case, I used DBMS_DST and now the version if the time zone file is 14. If I have to go back to 10.2.0.4, Should i copy the files to $ORACLE_HOME/ORACORE/ZONEINFO (where $ORACLE_HOME is 10.2.0.4)?
    2) If my Oracle 10.2.0.4 is shared with multiple instances, will i introduce risk for other databases running on the same oracle home when I copy the files?
    3) What other steps should I do other than copying the version 14 files into this directory?
    Thank You

No - you should not copy files from the 11gR2 HOME to the 10.2.0.4 HOME - instead apply patch 9742718 to the 10.2.0.4 HOME (which corresponds to v14 of the DST patch)
Updated DST transitions and new Time Zones in Oracle Time Zone File patches [ID 412160.1]
    2) If my Oracle 10.2.0.4 is shared with multiple instances, will i introduce risk for other databases running on the same oracle home when I copy the files?
You will need to follow steps in 9742718 for all of the databases running out of the 10.2.0.4 HOME
    3) What other steps should I do other than copying the version 14 files into this directory?
    See above

I've been reading a lot from 2 weeks about upgrading my database 10.2.0.1.0 to 11.1.
My OS is Windows 2003 Server R2 Enterprise Edition 32 bits.
All of the articles mention the need of upgrading timezone file version from 2 to 4(new in 11.1). My db is:
    select * from v$timezone_file;
    FILENAME VERSION
    timezlrg.dat 2
Perhaps, I've searched a lot and a lot the patch and I could no find it. The metalink says I need to upgrade to version 10.2.0.4, but I still not finding the patch.
I'm really new to the upgrade proccess and thats why I ask you guys for some help.
    Another question is:
The notes say I need to upgrade the client as well, but if I connect to 3 db versions, 9i, 10g and the neu updated 11g? Would my data on the older dbs be affected? How to deal with it ?
    Cheers Friends

I did not find any patch to Windows2003Server SP2 Oracle DB 10.2.0.1.0 32bits.
Because there are no user data, can I rely on the upgrade without patching the database?
the imp/exp are not good cause I have almost 1TB of data, 120 users. Would takes a long time.
    Tks you all.

  • Error in installing Oracle client 11g on Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) XenApp 6

I am trying to install "win64_11gR2_client.zip" Oracle 11g Client 64bit on Windows 2008 R2 that has been clamped and restricted by our security department. Details of the clamp:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885409
The Windows 2008 R2 server is running on CITRIX XenApp 6.
When we try to install the client on a normal version of Windows 2008 R2 without the Clamp, the installation follows through and successfully. However, when we try to install the 11g Client on the Clamped Windows 2008 R2, we get the error below:
[INS-08802] Unable to instantiate the View class referred by View ID 'SummaryUI'
This indicates the primary issue is with the clamp. My issue now is knowing what exactly is causing the error. what restrictions should I enable from the clamp in order to get the installation working?
    Here is the error log:

  • Oracle Client 11gR2 installation issue on RHEL v5.4 64-bit

    Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Client software 11gR2 on RHEL v5.4 64-bit. I have resolved all the libraries dependency as well as Kernel changes as suggested by the installer. The error in the log file is as attached. At present I have "skipped" this error and proceeded with installation.
While installing the client, the installer fails while configuring the Net CA with error:

Please let me know how to resolve NetCA installation and the sqplus issue.
    Thanks & regards,
    Vinay

    Hi,
Thet NetCA error occurs during installation and I believe the installer should take care of the ORACLE_HOME variable setting.
But before invoking sqlplus I have set the ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting in the .bash_profile as mentioned in the installation guide. The snippet of the profile file is:
    export ORACLE_HOME=~/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1
    export JAVA_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH;
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    export TWO_TASK=mmcoedb
I am able to tnsping to the server/service name too but when I try to login using the user/password using sqlplus, it simply exits without any error.
Please let me know how to resolve the error.
    Best regards,
    Vinay

  • Unable to open Oracle client "not located OCI.dll" (URGENT)

    Hi Experts,
I was installed the Oracle client 10g in my server to use the UDL file. for that i was installed oraOLEDB10.dll . now i am trying to connect to database servier from client throughing the error
The procedure entry point lxsCnvIntToNumStr could not be located in the dynamic link library OCI.dll.
    Please help on this
    Regards
    KumarK

    Obviously it is not urgent.
If it was truly urgent, you would:
    1) use your support contract to ask Oracle Support and/or
    2) describe in detail what your internet searching has found, what efforts you have tried and what has failed, and/or
    3) provide operating system information (which Windows, which edition, which service pack) and client information (how many Oracle products are installed, which versions, which patches)

  • Error :"The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"

    Hi guys!
    I'm facing this problem:
When my .Net application tries to access the DB, I get this error message above.
The application is into the same machine of DB and the operational system is Windows Server Enterprise 64 bits.
I'm comparing to another machine that has the same scenario but runs in Windows Vista 64 bits. This problem doesn't happen and I can normally access the DB.
The both database versions are 10g Release 2 (10.2) and all components from Oracle Database Components 10.2.0.2.21 are installed as the containing bellow:
-Oracle Data Provider for .NET 1.x 10.2.0.2.20
-Oracle Data Provider for .NET 2.0 10.2.0.2.20
-Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET 2003 10.2.0.2.20

    Hi,
Often the error "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client" is raised when the unmanaged dll OraOpsX.dll can't be found, can't be loaded, or is the wrong version. For version 10.2.0.x of ODP.NET and .NET Framework 2.x the file should be called "OraOps10w.dll" and should be found in the %ORACLE_HOME%\bin directory.
Since the ODAC pieces are installed on the same host as the database, are they in a separate Oracle Home or the same Oracle Home as the database software? If there are multiple Oracle Home directories, which one is in the system path first?
I would start with verifying the version of OraOps10w.dll and the system path on the server. You might also confirm that the Oracle Home directory (and everything under it) has the following permissions for Authenticated Users:
    - Read & Execute
    - List folder contents
    - Read

  • Getting "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"

    Hi,
By reading though posts this appears to be a very common and some people have been able to solve it by putting their OracleDataAccess.dll and support files in the same folder as the exe. However, I tried putting the OracleDataAccess.dll, oci.dll, ociw32.dll, orannzsbb11.dll, and oraocci11.dll in the folder and the problem persists.
This application works fine on my development system (Windows 7 64, VS2010 SP1) and 2 of our 3 servers (Windows 2008 R2). But on this one server it does not work! The problem first appeared when a developer installed ODT with ODAC 112030 on server. We installed a full version of the 11.2.0.1.0 Oracle Client (this matches our other servers) and removed the clients created by the ODT with ODAC 112030 install. However, I fear there is something somewhere that was not deinstalled causing the issue. Any thought on how we can track down and eliminate this problem.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

I changed the CPU to x86 in the solutions and the project is now working.
