Oracle Clinical database question

There was a database lock in Oracle Clinical RDC. It was confirmed by the database administrator that the lock was successful. However, the investigators at the sites were able to go in and approve additional pages after the lock. Can anyone tell me how this could have happened? I was under the assumption based on documentation that once the data was locked, it could no longer be updated but only viewed.
Thanks..

u can always add data after a lock ie new data but cannot modify data (but if it was frozen it wouldve been better ..........u cant add data or modify after u freeze a study ).........so please go ahead and freeze ur study if u dont want any more new data. Hope this helps.

  • Error Registring OC(Oracle Clinical) Database with TMS(Thesaurus)Database

    Hi,
We have installed Oracle Clinical 4.5.2 on Windows platform and also Oracle TMS 4.5.2. However while doing the final step: The TMS Database Registration we get the following error in the installation log file:
ORA-20000: 822200-Oracle Clinical and TMS are not installed in this database.
Not sure how to resolve this.
When we try to launch the standalone TMS, we are able to do so. However two databases (OC and TMS) are not in sync.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I think that TMS should be in the same Oracle home. Architecturally, TMS does install in the same database instance as OC. OPA 4.5 is destined to change that, offering a stand alone TMS instance that integrates with specific instances of OC, RDC, AERS, etc. More details of that <fun> migration whenever 4.5 is officially released.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle Clinical documentation and downloads

    Hi!.
I'm working in a project which consist in create a "dynamic" database (a database with an EAV structure). I read that this structure is used in the Oracle Clinical database schema, but I didn't find documentation which explains this database schema in deep, and I couldn't download the Oracle Clinical application from the Oracle page.
Can you give me some information about it, or the way to find it?.

  • What should i do with an Oracle 11g Database, MySQL database and a dump file.

I just joining to a new work field, almost about a database and i know "NOTHING" about this field.
My company has a system that running by Oracle Database, the problem is that Oracle Database will cost a lot of money when my company expands.
So the quest is converting Oracle Database to MySQL database.
Of course i cant try to convert it in the main Database, so i create one Oracle 11g Database on my LocalHost, and it already actived in " Localhost:1158 " etc.
I have another Sever test that already set up MySQL database, and a dump file from the system.
So I want to ask these 2 questions :
    1. How to create an new Oracle Database from that dump file ?
    2. Is it alright if i use tool to convert Oracle Database into MySql, or i should do it manually ?
    Thanks alot.

So the quest is converting Oracle Database to MySQL database.
I predict that converting to MySQL will cost your company more as it expands. As you expand managing contention becomes more important - Oracle does this for you. I do not think MySQL does, so you'll have to write more code to deal with this, costing the company money. A big part of making application scalable and reliable is to use stored procedures, how good are MySQL's compared to PL/SQL's. What other features are there that MySQL has that will benefit your company that Oracle doesn't. What do you need to think about as your company expands that need to be taken care of in the database. I would have thought a migration from MySQL to Oracle would be more common to deal with expansion.
As you know "NOTHING" you need to think about what each database can give you for the next 10 years to cope with you businesses potential requirements, and extimate how much it will cost to implement these requirements, then make the decision

  • Oracle 9I Database, and Mobile Server install history

    Dear Oracle technical representative:
This TAR started out as a true request for help in solving installation problems with Oracle 9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, and Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1, but it has turned into a history of frustration with out of date, laconic, and often incorrect, and misleading documentation. As a software developer, I understand that documentation is always out of date, at least mine is. Nonetheless, I must speak my mind while understanding, and sympathizing with your situation.
I struggled through the documentation, and managed to get everything working. While I was doing that, I wrote down the step by step procedure that I used to get Database, and Mobile Server running. By sharing this rough install history with you, it is my hope that it will help prevent others from experiencing the same difficulties that I have had. It has been my observation that when a user has problems installing a trial software package they give up quickly, and do not purchase a copy. It is thus extremely important that the installation instructions, and quick start guide be accurate, attentive to detail, and well written. The first impression is the one that counts.
The Oracle 9i Lite Installation, and Configuration Guide for Windows NT shipped with Oracle 9i Lite Release 5.0.1 definitely requires, and emergency rewrite. It is terribly out of date, inaccurate, and laconic. My guess is that it is a very sloppy rewrite of poorly written 8i documentation. The Oracle 9i Database Installation Guide for Windows is somewhat better. It however should do a better job informing you that before installing onto a old server the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC), and VC runtime libraries must be up to date. The history describes the trouble with not having the MFC42.dll at version 6. Another corker is that the default port the installer presents is 2030, and not 1521, and that leads to major confusion in the both the Database, and Mobile Server installs.
Thank you for looking at the history. I hope that it will be of use to you when you update your documentation.

TAR for Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition, and Oracle Lite Release 5.0.1 Mobile Server
Installation problems are highlighted in red.
    Installation sequence/history:
         1. Installed Windows NT 4.0 Server SP1 on Dell Power Edge 4300 dual x86 server to wipe the slate clean.
         2. Setup TCP/IP, and IPX/SPX networks
              Computer name YGGDRASILL
              Host name = YGGDRASILL
              Domain = CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Internet name = YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSATE.EDU = 130.18.130.225
         3. Installed NT SP3, and Internet Explorer 4.01 from the NT 40 Options Pack CD as the gateway to installing MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0.
         4. Installed MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0 from NT 4.0 Optins Pack CD.
         5. Applied NT 4.0 SP6.
         6. Installed Internet Explorer 5.5 as a prerequisite to installing MADAC 2.6.
         7. Installed MDAC 2.6
         8. Installed Paint Shop Pro 7 for capturing error screens.
         9. As previous install errors stated that the ordinal function xxxx could not be found in MFC42.dll, the latest version (6.0.8665.0) of the dll was installed, and registered from MS VC++ SP5. Also I upgraded MSVCIRT.dll, MSVCRT.dll, MSCRT40.dll, and added MSVC60.dll from SP5 to be on the safe side.
According to the installation documents all the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition are satisfied.
         10. Began install of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition with target parameters:
              Home directory = D:\Oracle\Ora92
              Database directory = D:\Oracle\oradata
              Global database name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Port = 2030
              SID = FIA
              SYSTEM Password = phwphw
              SYS Password = phwphw
              SCOTT Password = phwphw
DBSNMP Password = I left this one unassigned or empty.
tnsnames.ora entry for remote TCP/IP connection
              a. CD 1 of 3 load
                   1. Error writting to MFC42u.dll. Action ignore. A check indicated that MFC42u.dll version did not match the updated version of MFC42.dll. Plan is to update after install. Unicode version of MFC is probably not used by the installer.
              b. CD 1 completed with only one problem, and CD 2 load begins.
              c. CD 2 installed without incident., and CD 3 load begins, and completes without farther problems. The only issue to address at this time is to update the MFC42u.dll.
                   HTTP Server URLs
                        http://7778
                        https://4443
         12. Evaluation of install success begins.
              a. Oracle HTTP Service will not start. It is of particular interest that on installs that I do not upgrade the MFC42.dll the Oracle HTTP Service will start correctly, but during the install I get the error message Ordinal nnnn not found in MFC42.dll, and the Oracle MTS Recovery Service crashes during the install. I am caught between a rock and hard spot on this one. See the Figure 1. At the end of this document. I do not need the HTTP Server at this time but I will need it later and this issue must be resolved. It appears that it hangs during startup. I am sorry but I lost the ordinal number nnnn.
When I try to start the HTTP server from the Programs menu. It Hangs, and does not return an error message. See Figure 2, and the included Apache Setup.txt, the install log, and the HTTPd.conf . The conf, and setup files look OK to me. What is the problem?
              b. All other services start correctly.
              c. Logged into the database as SCOTT on the server with SQL Plus using the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
I created some tables, inserted data, and queried for the data. Everthing seems to be working correctly.
              d. Logged in remotely from my AOL account on a dial-up line using Oracle 9i Release 2 Personal Edition installed on my ThinkPad. Every thing tested out as above. I used the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
         13. I concluded that except for the Oracle HTTP Server Service not starting correctly, and that after updating the MFC42u.dll to VC++ SP5 level the stage is set for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1. I copied the MFC42u.dll to the server and registered it successfully.
         14. As Visual Studio 6.0 Professional updates all of the MFC stuff, I decides to install it at this juncture, and apply SP5.
         15. Installed JDK1.3.1 required for Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
At this time the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1 are satisfied, and MFC, and rt are at version 6.
It is important to note that after installing MS Visual Studio Professional 6.0 SP5, the HTTP server started working. It is clear that prior to installing Oracle Database it is essential that MFC, and possibly other components are upgraded before starting an installation of Oracle. This probably only applies to old NT servers, but it should be mentioned in the installation instructions.
         16. Attempt to install Oracle Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
              a. File locations Screen
                   Name: = OraLite501
                   Path: = D:\OraLite501
              b. Select Mobile Server at Installation Screen
              c. Mobile Server Repository Database Information Screen
                   Hostname = YGGDRASILL = hostname from tnsnames.ora
Port = 2030 = same as Database port
It is troublesome that the port in tsnames.ora is 1521, and not 2030 as was specified in the database install. I will try this port on the reinstall. On the retry, it worked. The problem was that I was mislead by the default port of 2030 at the database install. The database was actually installed on port 1521, and I was not given an error message, or warning. As I am a first time installer of Oracle products this threw me for a loop. The default port for the database needs to be 1521, if regardless of what the user specifies for a port you are going to install on port 1521.
Net Service Name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU = Global database name as required by installation instructions.
              d. Yes. At Do you want to install the Mobile Server Repository question.
              e. At Oracle Protocol Support, I checked the SPX box.
              f. Summary, and Install screens function to specifications.
              g. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Database System password:
                        Password = phwphw
              h. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Schema Name: fiafield
                   Password : fiafield
              i. Success at last with the install part. The problem was the wrong port number. See my above comments on this problem, and how Oracle could grease the skids for the next first time installer.
         j. I could not find the httpd.conf file in the place the install instructions said it should be for running the Mobile Server in Oracle HTTP Server. Since only one copy of httpd.conf existed, I added the include D:\OraLite501\mobile\server\bin\wtgias.conf to the bottom of the file assuming that it is the correct one. I the re-booted instead of using apache -k restart. The Oracle HTTP Server started, so there is hope. The install instructions state that the httpd.conf file would most likely be in the program files directory, when they are really installed in the Oracle Lite home directory.
         k. According to the documentation the Mobile Server should start when the Oracle HTTP Server starts with the wtgias.conf file added to the httpd.conf file. It does not. If I use Process Explorer, I know that Apache loaded the wtgias.conf, because both Apache.exe processes that are running have the wtgias.dll loaded. The facts are at this stage of the game are
              1. OraMTSRecoveryService is started
              2. OracleOraHome92HTTPService is started
              3. OracleOraHome92Listener is started on port
              4. OracleServiceFIA is started
              5. Apache.exe has the wtgias.dll loaded
              6. The Moble Server is not running and it should be if the documentation is correct.
              7. If I start the Mobile Server either as a service using wtgsvc -i or with the webtogo command from the DOS prompt, the Mobile Server starts, but when I attempt to log in with the URL http://Yggdrasill:7778/webtogo/startup it inform me the Mobile Server is not started and it is. Figure 3 shows the response I receive from the login attempt.
         l. I finally ran the Mobile Server in total debug mode using the command webtogo -d0", and it gave me the subtle hint that the correct URL is
              http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup.
When I use the above URL and I can login to the Mobile Server with UN = fiafield, and PW = fiafield. I was confused by the documentation. I was under the assumption that the host address would be either http://Yggdrasill:7778, or http://Yggdrasill:4443. After all when I, installed Oracle Database these URLs were listed. It needs to be made clear in the installation guide for the mobile server that the Mobile Server address is http://Your servers WWW address/webtogo/startup, and the statements about the Mobile Server will start when the Oracle HTTP Server is started needs to be removed since they are incorrect. Also, the documentation should clearly state that the Schema Name, and Password given in the Repository Wizard Screen are synonymous with the username, and password for the Mobile Server login.
         m. After determning the hard way that the Mobile Server does not start when the the Oracle HTTP Server starts, and that the correct URL is http://Internet address/webtogo/startup = http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup, I decide to start the Mobile Server as a service with the command wtgsvc -i. After I re-booted, to my surprise, I could not login to the Mobile Server. When I checked the system services, the webtogo service was running. So to give the start as a service thing a fair chance I re-booted again, but obtained the same results. I thus concluded that the Mobile Server will not run correctly as a service. As it turns out my conclusion was wrong. After waiting a few minutes, my login try was successful. The documentation should indicate that after booting it may be a minute or two before the Mobile Server service become available.
         n. After some serious problems with the installer, and the documentation everything is working. I have a green light to go on to the next stage, which is program the handheld to take advantage of the Mobile Server. I will be glad to get back to programming, and am so thankful that I am not a network administrator.

  • What are the privileges required for explain plan in Oracle 11g database

I am facing the problem in doing a explain plan for a view in Oracle 11g database. When I select from the view like this:
    select * from zonewisearpu
It does a select on the view but when I give explain plan like
    explain plan for

I get the error like insufficient privileges.
Please let me know if things are getting missed out as I guess system level privileges are required to execute this.
I hope, my question is clear.

Thanks for your reply. I have found out that an explain plan is possible on the user's own objects and is not possible on the granted objects from a different schema. For eg, if I do a explain plan on a view querying on tables from a different view, it would not allow the explain plan to proceed. This could mean that explain plan needs different privileges than just a select.
Requesting for a revert to this.
Here is a simple test case that I have perfomed
    SQL> create user test1 identified by test1;

  • How to install Oracle Content Database Archive Adapter for SAP on windows

    Hi,
I would like to install CDAA(Oracle Content Database Archive Adapter) on 32 bit and 64 bit windows. Will somebody point me to where i can download this from (if its not free i would like to try out trial version first) . If it depends upon other oracle components what is that i need to install additionally . And if you could provide links to all the required components, it would be great help.
Also if there is any demo from where i can see what all features CDAA support and how does it compare to other products say IBM commonstore etc , please let me know.
    Thanks a lot ..

Can any body help me to say thet "How to install Oracle Applications 11i(11.5.10.2) on Windows 2003 R2 X64 bit ' . Hi,
I believe, 11i installation on Windows 2003 X64 is not fully supported.
    what is your os version:
if it is windows 2003 32 bit, then it is supported on X86-64 servers for both database and application tiers
If it is windows 2003 64 bit, then only datatabase tier is supported on x86-64 servers
Have a look at the following note

  • Oracle 10g OCI based application talking to an Oracle 9i database

    Hi all,
Got a question. I have an OCI C++ application that is written using the Oracle 10g OCI includes, etc ... This of course is running on a 10g client. The client OS is actually a Windows x64 system since 10g is the only native OCI client right now for 64 bit Windows systems. So this all works fine. Now, I am communicating with an Oracle 9i database server. Is there anything wrong or invalid about this configuration ? I didn't think that there was but I was asked to confirm this, that is having an Oracle 10g client communicating with an Oracle 9i database. Our application is making very straight forward OCI calls, and we are not using any of the newer OCI calls that were introduced in 10g, just the ones that are available in 9i OCI.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

    Thanks for the reply.
Actually I thought that the OCCI forum was for Object oriented OCI, so while I'm using C++, I'm not using the object oriented side of OCI, just using the normal OCI calls. Guess I should have been a little clearer in my original post.
But my main question really concerned the version of the client and the version of the database which you answered.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle clinical 4.5.x.
I need to know whether both the Database server and application server for Oracle Clinical can be installed on same server(windows 2000 server).
Both of them are installed on windows platform.
It seems that u have tried the single node installation.
So,please give all the possible details regarding the single node installation for oracle clinical no matter what platform it is.
Please reply me as soon as possible, its urgent.
    Thanking u in advance.

  • Is it possible to install Oracle 10g database on a linux Os ?

    Hello all,
I recently installed Fedora 14, and oracle 10g free edition, on my modest laptop.
Problem is , I can't upload any scripts, because as i recently learnt from my school teacher, Oracle only works smoothly with Internet explorer browser (i.e.).
I tried using programs like winetricks to download a linux version of i.e. but in this case Oracle doesn't even open its homepage.
-In a nutshell, does anyone know a possible way to work with oracle 10g , (or any alternative), that's fully functional on linux (fedora 14) ? Download, Install steps, etc.
All i need to do is upload simple SQL scripts, and practice my " select from...." commands.
-Is oracle linux a option ? and what is it?
Thank you already for any replies, I'm really getting tired of googling threw different forums.

    Ed,
    -i knew my teacher was being stubborn;
-I meant that the winetricks version of i.e., didn't open the homepage of oracle 10g (=log in screen).
-what i was trying to do was, after having installed oracle 10g , "go to data base homepage" (openend by firefox) , once logged in with my username, upload a script , and practice typing the different (select from ...group by..etc) sql commands.
Here is one of several concepts you need to fix in your mind. Databases don't have home pages. Client applications do. Databases store and manage data. Humans at the keyboard see the client application, not the database. Oracle provides some client apps ( iSQLPlus, Oracle Enterprise Manager (Grid Control), dbcontrol, APEX) and even installs some with the database by default, but they are distinctly separate from the database, and so must be identified when talking about user interface issues. Unfortunately, telling us you tried to open "the home page of oracle" tells us nothing at all. If you had said "Tried to log in with iSQLPlus" or "I tried to connect with Apex", it would have conveyed MUCH more information. We would have then had some frame of reference as to what you were seeing.
To the "upload from where" question : I simply copied the scripts ( .sql , file) from the pc's from school, on usb, then copied them on my own system. When using the "upload scripts" option from oracle, Again, you must distinguish between "oracle" (the database) and whatever client tool you use to connect to it. "Oracle" (the database) doesn't have an "upload scripts" option. Some un-named application does.
the script is uploaded, but when i try to "run" it , nothing , blank page. no tables, nada. And given what I've said above, you can guess what this statement means. - grin -
My first guess was, well the teacher said " i.e. only " , so i tried installing i.e. , using winetricks, but i had a feeling i was going off-track, and that surely there must have been a much easier way.
Even Billy was more charitable toward your teacher than I feel. And when he is so wrong about something as simple as this, makes me wonder what else he is wrong about. And the quality of the teachers calls into question the quality of the school in general.
In fact, had I been told that by an instructor, I would make it a personal mission to prove him wrong. Not in front of the class (as much short term satisfaction as that may provide) but just by taking my laptop to his office and saying "let me show you something". One of my personal hot buttons is for someone who should know better to pronounce something as "won't work" when I've been doing it for so long and so easily as to just take it for granted.

Linux (fedora 14) is up and running,
oracle 10g , linux version, was installed using detailed guide.
And yes, i will look into oracle linux, and oracle 11g ,
but i was hoping to use the same version as my school, to avoid any surprises when passing my exams.Edited by: EdStevens on Jun 13, 2011 3:02 PM

  • Oracle 10g installation questions

    Hi,
I tried to install Oracle 10g (Enterprise Edition) on Windows 2000 server, and encountered the following error when I used the Database Upgrade Assistance to ugrade one of my existing Oracle 8 database TEST.
ORA-01658: Unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace USERS.
I searched the forum, and seems that there is not enough space for my USERS tablespace. Is it the right solution?
If I clicked Ignore for the above erro, another error appeared:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist.
I don't have table or view in TEST database, it is just a database instance created by Oracle 8. Do I have to create tables or views in order to upgrade it to Oracle 10g database?
I tried to upgrade an existing Oracle 8 database TEST1 which has data in it, and got the following error:
ORA-01119: error in creating database file D:\oracle\oradata\test1\sysaux01.dbf.
ORA-27044: unable to write the header block of file.
One last question is that after the failing of the DBUCA, I was told that the 10g was successfully installed on my server while no orcl database was created even if I chose
to create a database orcl during my installation.
The following are services running for 10g after the installation.
    OracleCSService Started
    OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus Started
    OracleOraDb10g_home1SNMPPeerEncapsulator
    OracleOraDb10g_home1SNMPPeerMasterAgent
    OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListenerLISTENER10 Started
Anybody has any idea what went wrong?
Your early reply is greatly appreciated.
    Jane

    I believe the answers are:
    1. the Oracle client needs to be the same bits as the TimesTen server. i.e. if you have 64b TimesTen, then you will need 64b Oracle client. If you have 32b TimesTen then you will need 32b Oracle client.
    2. Yes. I believe you can install 64b TimesTen with 64b Oracle client and connect this to a 32b Oracle server. I dont have any idea about performance overhead of this configuration.
