Oracle Cluster 3.3 with LDAP agent

Dear Experts
I am trying to install Sun cluster 3.3 u1 with LDAP 6.3 but I failed and Now i will try for LDAP 7.0 .
Anyone has experiance on this and why is failing?
I heard that LDAP can be ACTIVE-ACTIVE without cluster ? Is it correct ?
Thanks
Ehab

In terms of application deployment, regardless the ODSEE/OUD version you'll choose, I would strongly recommend you to avoid the old approach of O.S. clustering; application level clustering (Multi-Master replication, available for more than 10 years!) is much more reliable.

  • Installing Oracle 8.1.7 with PS on Win 2000 cluster

    Sorry for bad English.
    I'm have problem. I have Oracle 8.1.7 with PS. I need setup Oracle with Parallel Server on cluster with Windows 2000 AS, but during setup Oracle no found cluster. In documentation talk about need Operation System Depend layer from vendor OS.
    What me do? Where take OSD? Where reason?

    Hi Satish,
    You need to install "Oracle Data Provider for .NET" on the target machine, and it needs to be the same version as the one you used to build the assemblies.

  • Can Oracle Database 11.2.0.3 authenticate with ldap (ODSEE 11g)??

    Dear Experts,
    I wanted to know if the Oracle DB 11.2.0.3 can authenticate with LDAP ODSEE 11g. I got to know that in order to authenticate to LDAP oracle DB needs to connect to Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD). Is this the correct statement. Any inputs will be appriciate it. thanks in advance.

    Yes i have looked into these Docs, It seems like Oracle DB does not connect directly with ODSEE 11g. It seems like you have to have OID (LDAP) not ODSEE (LDAP) for DB connection, and if you need to use ODSEEE, you have to use OVD to connect DB....Which is weird as OID is also an LDAP...and ODSEE is also an Oracle Ldap....
    this is the error i get when i tried connecting DB to ODSEE.
    "Error
    Unable to connect to Oracle Internet Directory.
    I am not using OID, we have ODSEE. Is there any pointers or workaround to connect ODSEE to DB? I am just trying to avoid OVD in the middle. Any help will be appriciated.
    Thanks

  • Oracle Clustre, Oracle Cluster with RAC and Oracle 10g

    Is there a difference between Oracle Cluster and Oracle Cluster with RAC? Please explain. Do existing database codes run unmodified in Cluster or Cluster with RAC environment? What needs to be modified to make existing SQL codes RAC-aware. How to achieve 'all automatic' in case of failure and resubmission of Queries from failed instance to a running instance?
    In 10g environment, do we need to consider licensing of RAC as a separate product? What are additional features one derives in 10g that is not in Cluster +RAC?
    Your comments and pointers to comparison study and pictorial clarification will be very helpful.

    Oracle cluster like failsafe before or Veritas Cluster or other vendor's cluster is meant for HA (high availability) purpose. Which 2 nodes or more can see a shared disk with 1 active node. Whenever this active node failed through heartbeat other machine will know and will take the database over from there.
    Oracle RAC is more for HA and load balance. In Oracle RAC 2 or more nodes are accessing the database at the same time so it spread load across all these nodes.
    I believe Oracle 10g RAC still need seperate license for it. But you need to call Oracle or check the production document to verify it.
    Oracle 10g besides improvement in RAC. It's main improvement is on the build in management of the database itself. It can monitored and selftune itself to much furthur level then before and give DBA much more information to determine the cause of the problem as well. Plus improvement on lots of utility as well like RMAN , data pump etc... I don't want to get into too much detail on this you can check on their 10g new features for more detail view.
    Hope this help. :)

  • Non jdriver poor performance with oracle cluster

    Hi,
    we decided to implement batch input and went from Weblogic Jdriver to Oracle Thin 9.2.0.6.
    Our system are a Weblogic 6.1 cluster and an Oracle 8.1.7 cluster.
    Problem is .. with the new Oracle drivers our actions on the webapp takes twice as long as with Jdriver. We also tried OCI .. same problem. We switched to a single Oracle 8.1.7 database .. and it worked again with all thick or thin drivers.
    So .. new Oracle drivers with oracle cluster result in bad performance, but with Jdriver it works perfectly. Does sb. see some connection?
    I mean .. it works with Jdriver .. so it cant be the database, huh? But we really tried with every JDBC possibility! In fact .. we need batch input. Advise is very appreciated =].
    Thanx for help!!

    Thx for quick replys. I forget to mention .. we also tried 10g v10.1.0.3 from instantclient yesterday.
    I have to agree with Joe. It was really fast on the single machine database .. but we had same poor performance with cluster-db. It is frustrating. Specially if u consider that the Jdriver (which works perfectly in every combination) is 4 years old!
    Ok .. we got this scenario, with our appPage CustomerOverview (intensiv db-loading) (sorry.. no real profiling, time is taken with pc watch) (Oracle is 8.1.7 OPS patch level1) ...
    WL6.1_Cluster + Jdriver6.1 + DB_cluster => 4sec
    WL6.1_Cluster + Jdriver6.1 + DB_single => 4sec
    WL6.1_Cluster + Ora8.1.7 OCI + DB_single => 4sec
    WL6.1_Cluster + Ora8.1.7 OCI + DB_cluster => 8-10sec
    WL6.1_Cluster + Ora9.2.0.5/6 thin + DB_single => 4sec
    WL6.1_Cluster + Ora9.2.0.5/6 thin + DB_cluster => 8sec
    WL6.1_Cluster + Ora10.1.0.3 thin + DB_single => 2-4sec (awesome fast!!)
    WL6.1_Cluster + Ora10.1.0.3 thin + DB_cluster => 6-8sec
    Customers rough us up, because they cannot mass order via batch input. Any suggestions how to solve this issue is very appreciated.
    TIA

  • LBR config on OID - OracleAS Cluster (Identity Management)

    Hi,
    I am currently building an environment with the following configuration:
    1) Separate Oracle AS Metadata repositories for Portal and OID on 2 database servers
    2) 2 midtier servers having an IdM (OracleAS Cluster) and Portal homes each. The IdM install has both OID, DIP, DAS and SSO on both midtiers.
    3) LBR configuration with SSLConfigTool on both SSO and Portal URLs for HA
    If I want the OID/LDAP also to be configured with LBR for high availability, I would like to know the steps involved.
    Is it just enough to configure LBR to do something like Listen on 389 and redirect to 3060 on the 2 IdM midtiers? Is there something like a "sslConfig" or "ptlconfig" tool to be used to configure this?
    Any pointers are much appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    =======================
    I see in the above log that saying ASM instance is down and failed to open +DATA .
    But the asm instance up and running
    SQL> select instance_name,status from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME STATUS
    +ASM1            STARTED
    And we havent created any disk named DATA before the installation. We have created only below two disks
    SQL> select name,header_status from v$asm_disk;
    NAME HEADER_STATUS
    ASM_DATA MEMBER
    FLASH_RECOVERY MEMBER
    But I am seeing a diskgroup in the v$asm_diskgroup which we havent created.
    SQL> select name,state from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE
    DATA MOUNTED
    Ya this is a second time installtion. In the first installtion we created the asmdisk as DATA. But later everything (RAW device ) was formatted and this new disks has been created and installtion again started
    [root@SFV9699 bin]# oracleasm listdisks
    ASM_DATA
    FLASH_RECOVERY
    Seems like its trying to read the old disk DATA.
    we have done asmscanning too with oracleasm scan disks. but no use.
    Where I can remove the old entry of DATA disk.
    It would be a great if a quick response get.
    Thanks
    SHIYAS M

    The permission looks fine. If it was permission issue then y it is trying to read the DATA disk which I havent created this time at all ( But created in the first installation).

  • Role creation in OIM 11.1.1.5.0 fails with LDAP Sync Enabled

    I am in the process of configuring LDAP sync for OIM 11.1.1.5.0 with ODSEE.
    At this time, when I add a user in OIM, I can see that the user gets created in LDAP under the LDAP dn that I supplied when configuring OIM (Configuration process screen name = "LDAP Server Continued", field name = "LDAP User Container")
    However when I try to add a role in OIM, the call fails. OIM server logs have the following exception message:

    Any idea whats going on?
    When configuring OIM, I provided a value for the "LDAP Role Container" as "ou=Groups,dc=mycompany,dc=com". The docs shown an example of "cn=groups, dc=mycountry, dc=com" (see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/install.1111/e12002/oidonly.htm#CDDDIAIC, step 18). Could this difference in container type be causing this problem?
    Any idea where OIM stores this container information if I wanted to test ldap sync with the different roles container?
    Thanks
    Aspi Engineer
    Putnam Investments

    Aspi,
    OIM keeps its ldap config under "$IDM_HOME/server/ldap_config_util" as "ldapconfig.props"

  • 10g w/ASM on RHEL4 with LDAP/AD db user

    Hi folks,
    I'm a bit green at all this Oracle stuff (though I'm pretty experienced with Linux) and I'm currently trying to install Oracle 10g on a 64-bit RHEL 4 AS box, using ASM. This box is currently also running 9i happily. I am running into a couple of problems which may or may not be related:
    Firstly, I've installed the asmlib stuff and it will all run fine (pick up and configure disks on my SAN over fibrechannel etc.) apart from the service/interface configuration - for various reasons I need to have my oracle DB user authenticate against LDAP (active directory in this instance) like all my other users do (and this works fine in 9i) - I don't expect this is a problem for the DB install itself (though I've not gotten that far - I don't have a 10g DB installed yet.) but the config script for ASM will not accept any of my LDAP users as valid, and hence won't set the appropriate permissions on the /dev/oracleasm stuff etc (and doing so manually doesn't seem to solve problem 2) - is there a way around this? Is it a restriction just of the config script or can the service just not cope with non-local users?
    The second problem is that even with ASM disks configured, when I go to do an install with runInstaller, and select the configuration of ASM, it can't find any disks to add regardless of what path I give it to look in. I assume this is related to the problems with ASM above, but perhaps there's something else going on?
    Hope y'all can help.
    Thanks,
    -Nathan

    There are no users for ASM per se. You don't connect as Fred/fred since no-one ever logs into it directly. It's only a storage subsystem.
    the only time you would connect is if you needed to go in as the SYSDBA or SYSOPER role to start it up, shut it down or do maintenance.
    When it is up and running and doesn't see your disks there is a good troubleshooting note
    457369.1 which might help. usually diskstring needs to be set.

    Hello,
    We're currently on JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0.4270. We just release a new version of our web app into production. This is an internal web application. application server is weblogic 10. The weblogic log is showing alot of these warning messages. I tried search on this forum and in google but unable to find any information. I really appreciate if anyone has any idea what could be causing these warning. Our users are constantly getting sent back to the login page to to user sessions lost.

    Check the below link to match your steps and verify according:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnWindows2003UsingVMware.php
    For practise and test purpose VMWARE is definetly a better choice.Check the below link which can help
    you why it is better to use VMWARE.
