"Oracle Cluster Verification Utility" failed - 10gR2 - VMware - CentOS 4

Hi,
While installing 10g R2 on VMWare with CentOS 4, I am encountering an error:
Command = /u01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/bin/cluvfy has failed
INFO: Configuration assistant "Oracle Cluster Verification Utility" failed
*** Starting OUICA ***
Oracle Home set to /u01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs
Configuration directory is set to /u01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/cfgtoollogs. All xml files under the directory will be processed
INFO: The "/u01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
SEVERE: OUI-25031:Some of the configuration assistants failed. It is strongly recommended that you retry the configuration assistants at this time. Not successfully running any "Recommended" assistants means your system will not be correctly configured.
1. Check the Details panel on the Configuration Assistant Screen to see the errors resulting in the failures.
2. Fix the errors causing these failures.
3. Select the failed assistants and click the 'Retry' button to retry them.
INFO: User Selected: Yes/OK
The logs show me:
COMMAND=/u01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/bin/cluvfy stage -post crsinst -n rac1,rac2
Checking the version of OCR...
OCR of correct Version "2" exists.
Checking data integrity of OCR...
ERROR:
OCR integrity results are inconsistent amongst the nodes.
OCR integrity found invalid for nodes: rac2
OCR integrity found valid for nodes: rac1
OCR integrity check failed.
I have replaced "clsfmt.bin" with patch 4679769 to avoid the FAILED TO FORMAT OCR DISK USING CLSFMT error on Node 1.
But still the Oracle Cluster Verification Utility failed with OCR integrity.
Also, have religiously followed the steps mentioned in the below link & didnt have any glitches during the entire process:
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnCentos4UsingVMware.php
Any Suggestions??

I kinda dont have that timestamp which you requested.
Posting what i have in crsd.log for node 2.
**I wish this site had an attachment section to make the threads more readable.
Anyways...

Trying to match your answers to the questions .. I come up with this:
OS -WINDOS SERVER 2008      (Pl identify the exact OS version. )
YES    (I assume you are installing 12c1 of the database ? )
YES    (is this a standalone install or a RAC install ?)
no--it is installing but thru this it will take long timeand almost 3 hrs gone  and from log file it says
Calling OiicInstallAPISession's resume Operation  (Are there any error messages in the install log file ?)
Or should it be read as
OS -WINDOS SERVER 2008      (Pl identify the exact OS version. )
YES    (I assume you are installing 12c1 of the database ? )
YES    (is this a standalone install ...)

    crs_start crs_stop crs_profile crs_stat -t
backing up and restoring voting disk
    restoring OCR files
    cluster verification utility
    and such cluster commands.....
Can Oracle user himself runs them or should root run them?

  • Oracle SOA Cluster soa-infra failing, startup coherence issues

    Hi,
Have a 2 Node cluster od soa 11.1.1.5. Have 3 instances of 2 Node cluster running on the same machine. It's basically one for DEV,*TST*,*UAT* on the same machine. We have cronjobs that run every night shuts down all the cluster instances and then bring them back up. Recently one of our UAT soa cluster having issues. Both the Nodes come up fine but soa-infra in one node is not getting deployed and is down. I tried to manually start that node but no luck these are the errors I am getting in the Node where soa-infra is down. It's been working fine since recently. Any idea what might be wrong and where to look at. Any help is appreciated.
Inside the console all the servers are up and running but when going to Enterprise Manager it shows soa-infra down and only see one node.

Also have Unicast operation, and use Well-Known Addressing (WKA) configured in Console under server(s)->start tab. But looks like something with coherence that's not working for the cluster to come up and failing. Here are the unicast coherence settings we have for both servers in the console under Start Server tab as per Oracle EDG

  • 10.2.0.1 RHEL 4.0 - root.sh CRS - Failed to upgrade Oracle Cluster Registry

I am trying to install 10.2.0.1 CRS on a 2 node cluster on RHEL 4.0 Nahant Update 7. I get the following errors when root.sh is run
Failed to upgrade Oracle Cluster Registry configuration._
Due to this reason , none of the clusterware background processes fail to start, following which the Configuration Assistant screen also experiences failure (Oracle Notification Server Configuration Assistant).
I tried to apply the 10.2.0.4 patchset also, still same issue. Did anyone see this issue ?
    1) We use LINUX DEVICE MAPPER for multipathing and udev
    2) We configured the multipathing device partitions and bound them to raw devices
So /dev/mapper/oradisk1 bound to /dev/raw/raw1 ( OCR disk)
and /dev/mapper/oradisk2 bound to /dev/raw/raw2 (VD)
I am able to perform the dd command successfully.
    Any ideas ?
    -Srinivas

BTW, we our OS is Linux x86-64 with RHEL 4.0 Nahant Update 7. I also applied the patch 4679769.
Did a complete uninstall and reinstall. But issue persists.

    Richard,
How can I get my boss to read this thread? :)
OK, the password. Here is a little known tidbit--don't tell anyone, ok? Your DAD can log in as any user--any user at all (with connect privs). The good thing about the HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER is that it has the bare minimum permissions, so it is a good safe choice. But, the good news is, the HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER password is only used by HTMLDB, so you can change it (log in to sqlplus
sql> alter user HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER identified by mysecretpassword; )
The use mysecretpassword. You will also need to change it in the htmldb marvel.conf if you want to continue to use that mid-tier as well.
You can put the alias for /i/ directly in the httpd.conf. Not sure of your OS, but make sure that the OS level portion has a / not \ for the last two (e.g. windows normally might look like c:\oracle\home\images\ but you want c:\oracle\home/images/ -- just a strange quirk)
Take a look at the other aliases in the httpd.conf to see the syntax.
Also, I usually don't put it directly in the httpd.conf file because I want to make upgrades easier. I usually create an include file and put all of my stuff in there. So I would create anton.conf, put the alias in there, and then put
    include anton.conf
    in the httpd.conf file
Whew -- a little flattery earns a long drawn out answer!

2 things come to mind with the netca log:
    1) We are NOT using HA... so it would seem we could ignore that.
    2) Port 1521 is NOT in use.  I ran netstat -anpl | grep 1521 in a 5 second delay loop while running the installation and it never appeared.
Does anyone know if there is something different with Centos6.4 or AWS installations that would cause this?  Also, the log says that the installation went fine and the issues were with  configuration.  The spfile does not exist and when root.sh is run after the install, the oratab has no entry ($ORACLE_SID:$ORACLE_HOME:<N|Y> does not exist).
    Ideas?

Found the issue in the http://stackoverflow.com forums. We had searched them before but did not search on the correct error. I searched on "The information provided for this listener is currently in use by other software on this computer." and found a forum thread that we explained our issue.
We are using AWS as our server provider. AWS has 2 IPs it uses. The Public one which we use to putty into and access the server and the Private one that is on eth0. Evidently, the private IP needs to be in the /etc/hosts file not the public IP.
The database installed and is running.

  • Repair broken Oracle cluster on Win 2000

I have an Oracle cluster (8.1.7. with OFS) running in a Windows 2000 AS environment. There are two nodes and -luckey me- it is on a test network.
A while ago I tried to install OEM in order to be able to configure a OMS.
I performed the install on the inactive node without stopping the Oracle (cluster)services (stupid, stupid....) and broke it off when it hung at the end.
From that moment on this node is no longer available for failover in the cluster. This operation seems to have affected this node's Oracle home. Later on I performed a de-install but this did'nt help.
    Now I wonder:
is it possible to repair this 'broken' cluster and if so what would be the procedure to follow?
    Thanks in advance,
    Georges

At last I solved the problem myself.
On both nodes I desinstalled all Oracle products (Server, Fail Safe..) and later installed them again (first Oracle EE on both nodes, then OFS on both nodes).
Mind that all the fysical files for my databases were still available on SAN disks!
With the ORADIM utility I created services for my two databases on one node.
I recreated the Oracle clustergroup and added the necessary disk resources etc with Cluster administrator (Win2000).
I started Fail Safe Manager and added (one by one) my databases as standalone resources to the Oracle group and went through the verification process without warning.
Now everything is working fine again...

  • RAC - Oracle Grid Infrastructure configure failed

Hi, am trying to install 2 node RAC on Oracle VMs. Before the installation during the -preinst check there were few issues which were resolved (ex user equivalence). After that during the installation process of the Grid it failed at step "Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a cluster". After it failed at this step, subsequent steps too failed which I asked OUI to ignore and then I ran both the post installation scripts. And then ran post crsinst which failed. Pasting below the output of the root.sh script, post crsinst and other checks.
    [root@bsfrac01 grid]# sh root.sh

before installation have u configure the private interconnect on both the nodes to same network adapter..
for example on node 1 if the private interconnect is on eth0 then on the node 2 it should use eth0 only...
for private interconnect use the hostonly option on both the nodes in the network configuration page of the vmware or virtual box..
and for public network it can be bridged
more over if you are installing on the laptop its good to configure the SSH using the OUI.. rather than doing it manually.. as it saves time
the private and the public networks should not have same range of ip address. like if public address are like 192.168.2.222/255.255.255.0 and private address have to be different like 10.10.1.2/255.0.0.0 (this is just an example)
    have to configured the NTP.
any ways try installing the oracle rac on virtual box follow the steps given the below website they are pretty straight forward...

    -create 5 scsi hard with size 1 g ( 3 for voting dist - 2 for OCR)
    - enable automount for windows
    - disable sense for new Network card
    - 2 network card for public and other for private
    - identifying network nodes in the host file
    - rename this machin by rac1
    - colne this machine and rename it to rac2 and change the public and private ip
    ----- now i have tow machine rac1,rac2
    - check from rac1

    Hi,
Check the below link to match your steps and verify according:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnWindows2003UsingVMware.php
For practise and test purpose VMWARE is definetly a better choice.Check the below link which can help
you why it is better to use VMWARE.

  • Oracle Clustre, Oracle Cluster with RAC and Oracle 10g

Is there a difference between Oracle Cluster and Oracle Cluster with RAC? Please explain. Do existing database codes run unmodified in Cluster or Cluster with RAC environment? What needs to be modified to make existing SQL codes RAC-aware. How to achieve 'all automatic' in case of failure and resubmission of Queries from failed instance to a running instance?
In 10g environment, do we need to consider licensing of RAC as a separate product? What are additional features one derives in 10g that is not in Cluster +RAC?
Your comments and pointers to comparison study and pictorial clarification will be very helpful.

Oracle cluster like failsafe before or Veritas Cluster or other vendor's cluster is meant for HA (high availability) purpose. Which 2 nodes or more can see a shared disk with 1 active node. Whenever this active node failed through heartbeat other machine will know and will take the database over from there.
Oracle RAC is more for HA and load balance. In Oracle RAC 2 or more nodes are accessing the database at the same time so it spread load across all these nodes.
I believe Oracle 10g RAC still need seperate license for it. But you need to call Oracle or check the production document to verify it.
Oracle 10g besides improvement in RAC. It's main improvement is on the build in management of the database itself. It can monitored and selftune itself to much furthur level then before and give DBA much more information to determine the cause of the problem as well. Plus improvement on lots of utility as well like RMAN , data pump etc... I don't want to get into too much detail on this you can check on their 10g new features for more detail view.
    Hope this help. :)

Where can i find that listener log file ?Zoltan gave you the specific, one-time answer.
    The generalized, learn-to-self-help answer is:
Use your os's search utility to fiind any file you want. In the case of Linux, that utility is called 'find'. Instructions on how to use it are all over the net, and the official documentation for all Linux utilties installed on your system can be read by using the 'man' command (ie: 'man find').
To tie the general to the specific, you would use
find / -name listener.log  Or, faster and fewer error messages
    find $ORACLE_HOME -name listener.log
