Hi,
I have a Sun SPARC box . There are 7 instances 2 in 9.2.0.8 and 5 in 10.2.0.1 upgraded earlier than my joining. I want to upgrade one of the 9.2.0.8 databases.
The database to upgarde is up and running and can be connected through listener.
I login as the owner of ora10g and start dbua. It shows me all the 7 databases but when I select the database to upgrade it throws the following info :
[b]The Upgrade Assistant Failed in bringing up the database xxxx. Oracle Home /oracle/9.2.0.8 obtained from /etc/oratab was used to connect to the database. Either the database is not running from Oracle Home /oracle/9.2.0.8 or correct Initialization pfile was not found.
It then asks for pfile. -----------------------------------
The database is up and running. The Oracle home is also correct in Oratab file.
I checked the sqls.log file
It has info like
set heading off
set pagesize 0
set feedback off
set linesize 2048
set sqlprompt 'SQL_ENGINE_END_OF_SQL'
show sqlprompt
set sqlprompt 'SQL>'
set sqlprompt 'SQL>';
set heading off
set pagesize 0
set feedback off
set linesize 2048
set sqlprompt 'SQL_ENGINE_END_OF_SQL'
show sqlprompt
set sqlprompt 'SQL>'
connect /****** as SYSDBA
select count(*) from v$instance;
set heading off
set pagesize 0
set feedback off
set linesize 2048
set sqlprompt 'SQL_ENGINE_END_OF_SQL'
show sqlprompt
set sqlprompt 'SQL>'
Please help on this issue . Y cant the DBUA see that database is up?

  • Discover Weekly - Post your feedback here

    Hello community. Spotify here.
Here's all the info you need to know about Discover Weekly. It's a pretty awesome feature that we love. We hope you will too:
Its a 30 song playlist that is automatically added to your account and updated every Monday.
The 30 songs are based on your listening history and the listening history of others with similar tastes to you.
The rollout starts today and is scheduled to finish in the coming weeks.
Only folks who have been active in the last 30 days will get it. When they return and play some music, they’ll get it the following Monday.
Only available after you’ve been with Spotify for two weeks.
Its added directly to Your Music/Your Library. If we were overzealous here, you have the option to unfollow it.
The playlist defaults to private. You can set it to public if you'd like.
If you accidentally unfollow it, you can find it again in Browse or Discover.
Any other questions let us know. Feel free to post any feedback here.
    Thanks!

The rollout started yesterday with 20% in mainly English speaking markets. It is scheduled to finish rolling out within a couple of weeks but we may temporarily pause the rollout if we discover any issues. Keep checking!
Yes it will be available in Canada, Oh Canada :)

  • Kt600 delta post your gripes here!

Major gripes with this board :-
1.why should i have to spend another £50 - £80 on a top of the range psu
       just to  run a £55 motherboard ?
The amount of people on this forum who have had to upgrade their psu just
to get this board up and running is unbelievable
    2. heat :- this board runs a good 10 - 15 degrees higher than its nforce 2
counterparts ! so you have to go out and buy uprated cooling  to
        get a stable  system
never mind trying to clock it
kt6 chipset :-this is the most unstable board i have ever fitted costing more in the long run to get it all up and running than any other ive built
shall stick to the nf2 in future
feel free to post your moans

1: The heat on the cpu, increased ALOT from my old KT400, very strange.  It vas before, 39-40 (Idle) now its 45-46, much more I think, maybe there is something wrong with the sensor, or the KT400 had a 'good n' sweet days' sensor.
Well, that would be everything I think.
I ran my XP2500+ at 3200+ yesterday, and it was very stable, but I had to increase my  TwinMOS PC2700 memory to 3v to have them in 400 mode. And even then I had to remove Ultra mode and everything else fast, that made the computer slower, atlest in 3dmark, then default clock on everything So I will just get better mem and then I will go 3200+ everyday, I hope, if there wont be a problem with the heat.
Using a open window, and a Cooler Master Aero 7 LITE at 45% speed, I suppose I can increase the speed if I want to clock but Its very loud then.  I think, as I said that there might be some error with the sensor, cause the window was open, and the computer was just under it and totaly open, no plates or sidepanels or something, also it was -3C outside (sweden). The old motherboard (K4v) got much colder.
EDIT: I have a Q-TEC 550W (you say they suck, not mine ) and I still got very good voltage even when Im in so extreme overclock (to me that is extreme )

  • New OS Bugs - post your expressions here!!!

Well so far, the new operating system isnt too bad.  The very first thing I checked for that I was hoping they would fix, was not fixed .  I was hoping they would allow for the "Add to existing contact" option when trying to save a number to your phone, but nope, you still have to do it the long way.  These are my two issues with the OS 6:
No "Add to existing contact" option when saving a number
Somewhat slow when cycling through menus.
    What about you guys?

    srbecker wrote:

"The new"... you might be a little more specific. You don't say what model Bold you have (there are three) and various service providers release operating system updates from time to time, so there's no way of knowing what you speak of, or which specific OS6 release.
    srbecker wrote:

That's not in any OS release. I use a great third party app "AddToContact2" for that. It pulls any email or phone data from an email and asks to which contact I want to add it, and to which contact field.
    srbecker wrote:

Reboot ONE more time... give it five minutes after the reboot before navigating and see if it is faster.
You could have some third party theme or app that is not compatible with OS 6 installed.

  • Please Post Your Site Here . Curious to see other IWEB created sites

    http://www.jbctextiles.com/
They are a work in progress, fun and frustrating at the same time... and I have been experimented with having meta tag descriptions or having the title in the url as well...It looks like if you have a meta tag description google only reads that rather than getting info from the page that you wrote? Can you just have a keyword metatag without a description metagtag?
I think I lost rank on Craigs Prints since I added the meta tag description...

I just redid this after looking at examples I found. I'm a novice at iweb, but I think I'm just scratching the surface. I need to work on better organization and perhaps design. I have to say though I'm pleased with the outcome thus far.
I'm open to any criticisms, suggestions or ideas.

Just recently upgraded from my NF3-UD / 6800GT AGP system to my current PCIe system.
Only ever installed the basic package in game mode. No problems.
Only one problem. I get big black squares that flicker on the screen during intense gaming sections and loading screens. System has been completely formatted since the new upgrade but the squares remain. Changed PSU, tried different RAM, stock clocks. It's isolated to the X-Fi. This problem existed on the NF3-UD AGP system as well. I had a cheapo SB Li've card before this and didn't have the black squares. Sometimes when the squares appear the system has a little freeze causing the CD-skip noise. The worst offenders are V8 Supercars 3 (Race driver 3) & Oblivion.
It's definitely something to do with the X-Fi.
Music runs fine for me using Winamp 5.2 Full. Haven't had any crackling yet.
I may note that I always use the 3rd PCI slot for sound cards & this X-Fi is no exception.Message Edited by utetopia on 05-22-2006 06:39 PM

  • Why not to Update your phone to the new 4.4.2 Kitkat update. Post your complaint here!

I will start this discussion off by listing some of my complaints.
The other day my phone says "Important updates available for your device" and I am thinking that there must be a good reason to do it.So I do. My phone reboots and the first thing I notice is that there are new apps installed t hat have nothing to do with the update. Next the phone constantly tries to backup, every other letter I type when writing a message there is lots lag. sometimes resulting in numbers or other special characters. I could go on forever but now it is your turn. Be sure to let Verizon know how unhappy you are with the software and the update.
    Verizon this update SUCKS!!!

I agree completely. This update has made a mess of my phone. My favorite app is "PowerAmp", a music player I use the "paid" version of. All my playlists are now empty. The app now has all kinds of glitches.
Perhaps I'm being a bit cynical, but with the addition of more Google-related apps in this update (that I didn't ask for and don't want), and the destruction of some apps that compete with ones from Google, it appears that Google is using its control of the Android operating system to boost itself over the competition.

  • Tns problem with Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools

    I installed the full
Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
now I am at the good old "[ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified]" error.
I copied the same tnsnames.ora as used on the db server
    onto the client "C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin".
The host name is right since a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
The listener is running and the instance as well since it all works on the source server.
    I tried it with
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin
but tnsping is still not recognized.
sqlplus works on the other hand when I set it to
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\
    what is going on...

    hey
u can post your query here, and i think everyone here is to share opinion so do not hesitate to do so and please try to google before posting here,
and we know no one is expert like some people saying 'boring questions' you just try to overcome your problem and you will definitly get your problem solved .
some mpeople ar still there who answeres hopeless questions and say nothing about them but when a fresher askin a qustion is not tolarated by them they think everyone is born DBA here
they always tend to discouraging people here on forums, and i think they are vvolunteers to reduce crowd here on forums, inspite of there experience and people respect them they can not control their anger
so please post you tns here, i think there are ways to ask people to google and search docs first, but not like this
    thanks and regards

  • Config tool fails when trying to modify an existing Oracle EPM instance

I have a single server windows 2008 server environment with Foundation, prlanning, essbase , raframework, and EAL. I also have ODI installed in the same server. I was trying to add Strategic finance to the same envirnment . I downloaded the required files according to oracle install doc.
The installation was successful without any errors.
Problems started when I tried to configure it. AsI opened the config tool and chose
Modify an existing Oracle EPM instance ...
the config tool gave an error that
An unexpected error occurred and the application will have to be shut down . Review the error log , correct error condition and re-launch the application .
Kindly share your thoughts on this issue

Did you examine the configtool log to see if it has more information on why the configurator shutdown, if you not sure where to find the logs have a look at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_troubleshooting_11121/ch03s02s05.html

  • Weird error while starting oracle graphical tools

Hello. I have a fresh Fedora 10 installed and i have just installed Oracle 10g. Everything have worked out fine but i have some strange error(?)-message when im starting tools like dbca and netca.
I'll copy it here for you, maybe you know what it means and how to fix them:

First time i installed Oracle my .bash_profile was wrong, i had forgotten to add oracle in my ORACLE_HOME-PATH so i guess the others under was messed up to. But ive changed it now and restarted my computer, i have even tried to exclude the lines about LD_LIBRARY_PATH and CLASSPATH (i guess the first errors i posted refer to these paths).
I followed a guide with my friend and his system is fine without the errors, mine isnt. But maybe you know more about the errors i get when starting graphic tools like dbca and netca.

Software uses a "lock" to guard a data structure against concurrent
    modifications, leading to corruption.
A "backtrace" is the trail of how the program reached this point in the code --
sort of like a trail of cookie crumbs in a maze.
Looks like the X-Org stuff Fedora 10 uses improved things so much that legacy
apps have started breaking. I checked the source code for the libxcb RPM. It
    appears that:
    $ export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1
is supposed to avoid crashing but will still report this backtrace. Ultimately,
the application will need to be fixed for libxcb-1.1.91 but until this RPM
version gets used in a supported Oracle environment, a fix may not happen soon.
So, if it ain't crashing then it works :)

  • Oracle Development Tools and TFS

    Hey there,
currently I'm struggeling with how to work with Visual Studio Oracle Development Tools and TFS.
I'm relatively new to Oracle-DBs, I'm known to MS SQL Server.
In General my colleagues and me work in the solution Explorer (SQL Server DB-Solution), upload and get the latest Version from TFS. If anything new comes in I can easily use the Schema compare from my solution to the database.
Now my question: How is this possible when working with Oracle DBs? Imagine I get some new tables and schemas from TFS. How do I Transfer this easily from solution Explorer to my Server Explorer / DBs?
Do I really have to deploy each and every script manually?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Matthaeus Woroch,
Since this issue is related to the Oracle tool, you know that it is the third party tool and it has own support site, like the following documents:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/12c/r1/appdev/dotnet/SchemaCompare/index.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/visual-studio/overview/index.html
I suggest you post this issue to the Oracle forum for dedicated support. Thanks for your understanding.
    Best Regards,
    Jack

  • How to use dbca and netca

    hi
everyone , I have just installed the software of oracle on RHEL4U4,but when I click ok .and wanted to configure a new database . (using dbca) ,I met an error ,just as follows
    [oracle@LinuxOracle install]$ dbca
    bash: dbca: command not found
so I looked up in the the documents B19306 , it says that:
"If you chose an installation type that runs Database Configuration Assistant and Oracle Net Configuration Assistant (NetCA) in interactive mode, you must provide detailed information about configuring the database and network.
If you need assistance when using the Database Configuration Assistant or NetCA in interactive mode, then click Help on the screen.
    Note:
If you chose a default installation, the Database Configuration Assistant and NetCA run in noninteractive mode."
It's appear to be not well configured .
so how to configure ,or any other solutions to solve this problem .
    many thanks .
    best
    carl

Are you sure you did setup of Oracle enviroment?
    Execute following command:
echo $ORACLE_HOMEIf there is no output then your enviroment is not set.
In that case edit /home/oracle/.bash_profile and add following lines:
    ORACLE_BASE=<oracle base path>
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/<oracle home directory>
    ORACLE_SID=<oracle SID>
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
export ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME ORACLE_SID LD_LIBRARY_PATH PATHSave the file and execute following command:
. /home/oracle/.bash_profileNow try to execute dbca.

    Hello Balaji,
The ClassNotFoundError is complaining about class Base64.  This class is part of the util.jar library which can be found in the following location:
    ./j2ee/configtool/lib/util.jar
Please verify that this library file is present.  If it is, please verify that the file is not corrupt by executing the following command:
    jar -tvf util.jar
With the above command you should see the contents of the archive.   One of the classes should be Base64.class.
If necessary you can redeploy the configtool.sda archive which is located under
    .\SDM\root\origin\sap.com\com.sap.engine.configtool\SAP AG\<#>\<version_info>\configtool.sda.
Use SDM to redeploy the archive using option 'Update SCAs/SDAs that have any version' under the deploy tab.
    Regards,
    Nathan

  • Visual admin tool&configer tool

whta is main difference of visual admin tool&configer tool

    Hi Raghava,
This is a post by some gentleman, I tried figuring out the thread but could not succeed.
    VISUAL ADMINISTRATOR
The J2EE Engine Visual Administrator is a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables administration of the whole cluster, all cluster elements, and all modules running on them. It provides remote monitoring and management of managers, services, libraries, and interfaces working on each element in a single GUI
    Visual Administrator includes functions for:

    CONFIG TOOL :-
The Config Tool enables offline configuration of the J2EE Engine cluster elements. It is XML-based and allows exporting the system configuration for later use.
When you run the J2EE Engine Config Tool via a GUI or text-only interface, it connects to the database and scans the server configuration. The information provided is passed to the corresponding interface that is used for configuration.
Each change you can perform corresponds to a particular task in the Batch Config tool.
All modifications made using the J2EE Engine Config Tool can be exported to an XML file for later use.
