Oracle courses

Can someone tell me what Oracle courses does exist, I mean, official ones or well known courses, like TOEFL or First Certificate in english.
If possible could you tell me too the duration and usual price of those courses?
Many thanks

The official Oracle courses are listed on the Oracle University website. The home page defaults (but of course) to the good ol' USA, so you'll need to switch to Spain using the choose a country dropdown in the top righthand corner.

  • Pay for oracle courses on your own ?

    Hello,
i wanted to ask you if anyone of you would pay for oracle training courses (which are about ~ 2.400 € here for ~ 5 days) on your own if your current employer refuses to pay for them and you would like to improve your chances on the job market.

[...] if your current employer refuses to pay for them
and you would like to improve your chances on the job market.I can see two sides to this situation...
If you are about to implement a technology (something like Dataguard or RAC) that's new to you then your employer should be providing you with the opportunity to develop the skills you are going to need. Whether that is through a knowledge transfer from colleagues, self training (such as CBTs or books) or attending a training course really depends on the situation (time, budget, opportunity, etc). If your employer isn't willing to do anything then you aren't getting the support you need from them to do your job properly and you need to decide whether that means it's time to move on or not.
Equally, your employer is not obliged to help you to 'improve your chances on the job market'. I've worked with people before who have been entirely unable to comprehend why our employer wouldn't send them on a week-long training course for a technology we not only didn't use but which we would almost certainly never use.
As for your specific question - no, I can't say that I would pay for Oracle courses myself. For one thing, I can't afford it... but even if I could, I think that reading the manuals (and maybe a good book or two) whilst sitting at a test system is probably a better use of five days.
Don't get me wrong - I've been on plenty of Oracle courses and think they are great. If my employer wants to spend £2k then I won't say no... but if I were paying myself I'd find it hard to balance up the cost with what I get out of it.

  • Oracle course to learn more about BI functions

    Hi,
Do you know if there is any Oracle course specific about BI functions?
    Aggregate Functions
    Running Aggregate Functions
    String Functions
    Math Functions
    Calendar Date/Time Functions
    Conversion Functions
    System Functions
    Operators
    Expressions
    Literals
I know how to build simple reports, but when it comes to use the above functions, I find it difficult.
Maybe somebody can suggest a good book too?
    Thanks and Regards

  • Feedback about official Oracle courses

This is duplicate thread from Feedback about official Oracle courses
I've become official Oracle [url http://gplivna.blogspot.com/2007/08/new-experience-ive-completed-my-first.html]course trainer recently. It was nice experence.
However in my very first course as a trainer I've found at least one incorrectness I'd like to report. The question however is - whom to report?
Obviously this public forum is not the right place.
Unfortunately there wasn't any feedback address (except snail mail) on course materials and my course organizer also could not help. I'd prefer some faster (and easier to perform) communication methods than snail mail, for example, some e-mail address... :)

Do you have access to OU Resource Center? If yes, check the Readiness Materials > OIG for general corrections that have been sent in already.
In any case, contact me at fuzzy.greybeard at gmail.com - we have a small 'third party instructor' distribution list that I am trying to expand.

In order to get the properly knowledge or continuing my education in Oracle, in what order can i take the next courses??It's good to see a desire for education.. but education can be petty meaningless without experience. A course can never substitute the knowledge and experience gained by getting your hands really dirty.
You can already get your hands dirty with RAC - using nothing but a PC and Vmware. Or DataGuard. Or create a database, grab the Backup manual and start playing with RMAN as you manually trash db files and create problems that needs to be dealt with by recovery. And while doing this type of thing, you will get to know Oracle a lot better and more intimately than in a lab environment.
Courses are good. But when I interview an applicant that have been on a PL/SQL course and have very little experience, versus one that has not been on a course, is self taught PL/SQL, and can actually provide meaning answers when asked about bulk processing for example.. I would tend to prefer the latter.
My suggestion is not to solely focus on courses and doing one after the other as quickly as possible... but use the knowledge provided by a course and turn that into experience.. It will last longer that way and improve your skills above those that attended the course with you and did not turned that into experience.

  • To enquire about oracle courses

    Hi
Could anybody please tell me about the best institutes that offer below courses in hyderabad India
    Oracle DBA 11g
    RAC
    Linux
    thanks in advance

No institute AFAIK is authorized to teach 11g yet except OU. And given the fact that I travel too often to hyd, I would suggest that you talk to OU sales rep on 1800 425 8877 , +91 80 4108 4709 and check how can you get the best training experience.
That said, this is not the right forum to discuss this matter. You should have asked the same over Certification forum.

  • Oracle course completion Certificate.

    Hi
I have attended 11g Workshop-II course in last month. I have fee-Invoice and I filled the feedback form and submitted online on the last day of class. But I do not have copy course completion certificate. How do I get the course completion certificate.
    Thanks.
    Bhanu

    Bhanu,
You should contact either your instructor or Oracle University for your course completion documentation. You can find local contact information on our website here http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=225.

  • The course I did to gain OCP certification in Oracle Database 11g does not appear on the courses submission list on the website of pearson vue.

The course I did to gain OCP certification in Oracle Database 11g does not appear on the courses submission list on the website of pearson vue, I sent an email to [email protected] from < email address deleted by moderator >, without an answer in 7 days since 01/28/2015, the email is below, the title of my course is in Portuguese.  What should I do in this case ?
    Dear Oracle.
I am sending this email because recently I passed in the exam 1Z0-053 Oracle Database 11g: Administration II, which is the last examination necessary to acquire the OCP Certification. However, in the path to the certification I need to prove that I participated in an Oracle Official Training.
Searching for the course on the pearson vue site, I have not found the course name on the list. So I am sending this email with the course information required for certification. I attended to the course in college FIAP (http://www.fiap.com.br/en/conheca-a-fiap/parcerias-estrategicas/), in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, from March/2010 to March/2011. Accessing the link above is possible to verify that the educational institution is an Oracle Partner. The title that I got was "Graduate in Oracle Database Management".
In this email I attached a copy of the FIAP Certified Course (front.jpg certificate, certificate back.jpg). I’m also sending the data from my profile in the pearson vue site (Pearson VUE - My profile.pdf), and my scores in the exams for OCP certification (1Z0-051.pdf, 1Z0-052.pdf, 1Z0-053.pdf ).
If you need any further information just let me know and I will provide.
Please acknowledge this information and grant me the OCP certification (Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional).
    Regards.
    Italo Moisés dos Santos.
Oracle Testing ID:  < deleted by moderator >

    Sorry, I expressed myself badly.
When I access http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/course/ and start submission process  of the course, in the first step “Select the track for which you have completed a certification requirement” I selected the option “Oracle Database 11g Administrator OCP”, in the second step I selected “ILT = Instructor Led Training”,  but when I got on the third step “Which course or requirement did you complete?”  I have to choose the course name that I did, the course name that I did does not appears in that list, so I do not know which one to select, even having at the end of the form the option “Other ...(Course or requirement is not shown above. Please enter title below.)” the course name I did is in Portuguese/Brazil, the name is “MBA em gestão de banco de dados oracle” in Portuguese, which in English would look like "Graduate in Oracle Database Management".
I sent an email to [email protected] containing the information that I found necessary to obtain certification.
But if I have to do the process in the pearson vue site, should I put the course name in Portuguese or in English ?
Only the email I sent is not enough ?
Thanks for the help, and sorry for my english !

  • Forms installation problem - how do I create a new default Oracle home?

I am new to Oracle so please forgive my utter ignorance. My impression of Oracle because of how an installation
has to be done is taking a nosedive. I thought Microsoft was bad with all the re-booting but the explanation that I
read in Anubhav Seth's post about installing Dev 6i before 8i and the suggestion (not a requirement) to format the
harddisk and reinstall Windows just leaves me with my jaw hanging open. I'm having a little trouble swallowing that
    one.
Here's my situation... I'm running 8i at home and I am using it for the Oracle courses that I am taking at a local
university. So 8i with its SQL*Plus has been all I have needed to date. Now we have a project to do that involves forms.
So I go to the OTN page for downloads and downloaded file 6irel2nt.exe which is 264 MB in size. This file, I assume,
has forms in it -- what else I don't know because things are not explained all that well on the web site or I don't know
where to look (which implies poor organization of the web pages).
I run the 6irel2nt.exe file and end up with 11,128 new files on my computer. That's nice. I run the setup file and a step or
two into it it complains that my 'Ora81' home is already being used and that I need to install it into another Oracle Home.
Now I'm trying to find out how I create another Oracle Home. I perform a search in GOOGLE on "creat default Oracle
home" and basically get nowhere. My $50+ "Oracle 8i A Beginner's Guide" from Oracle Press mentions Oracle Home
on one page (pg. 170) but is completely useless in this case. My $184 worth of Oracle University manuals (which
are really PowerPoint slides) is useless too. My next step will be to comb through the FAQs. All this because I cannot
believe that I have to totally uninstall one product to get another to install and then reinstall the first one. That is INSANE!
If I have gone way off track please feel free to blast me but if this is true then all I can say is that the folks at Oracle need
a lesson in KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)! Computers and computer software are supposed to make our lives simpler
not complicate the holy hell out of them. I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry about the whining.

I ended up uninstalling 8i and then I installed Dev 6i (Forms) and then I reinstalled 8i. I had some problems
installing Dev 6i because of this error "path.vrf(86): Unbound variable 'path_too_long_prompt'". Right after this error
appears I get a dialog that states, "The Oracle Installer cannot update the system path variable to %new_path%
because it is too long. Please restrict your system path to 127 characters and make sure D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin
    is included in your path."
The path D:\Oracle\OraWin95 was what I set up for this installation.
What I did to work around this problem was this...
    (1) Go to Start - Accessories - System Tools - System Information.
    (2) Click on the Tools menu
    (3) Select System Configuration Utility
    (4) Select the Autoexec.bat tab
    (5) I added D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin to my PATH variable and unchecked the checkbox next to one of the several
lines that I have that build my PATH variable. (I have several PATH lines that simply add a path to the system
variable %path%). After the installation is complete you can go back and turn back on the paths that you had disabled.
After installing 8i I did have a problem connecting to the database. I got this error:
    Error: ORA-01034 Oracle not available
I believe this happened because I had forgotten to turn back on some of my PATH information that I mentioned
earlier. After checking one of my PATH variables and rebooting, this problem disappeared.
When reinstalling 8i and when the installation asks for an SID and you enter the SID you had used in the original
installation you may get a notice that says the SID already exists. I think this happens because the uninstall does not
clean up the registry totally, so I entered a different one. Later on, after the installation has been completed and you
are connecting to your database, you will be prompted to select an SID -- just make sure that you select the SID from
    the latest installation.
I should've mentioned first that in preparing for this whole ridiculous exercise I created a directory under my Oracle
directory that I was going to use as the new 'Oracle home.' So I guess that's all one has to do to create a new Oracle
home -- just have another directory ready to install 'stuff' into.
All in all, this a pretty asinine exercise. Oracle really needs to fix this mess. I honestly thought Microsoft was bad but
this takes the cake. I wonder if SQL Server is this screwed up.

(b)I already have the TOAD 9.1 setup with me which i can install. But,i do not know that how will i use TOAD interface and connect to the oracle database.
(c)Also, any sample script/database with some tables that i can use for learning complex SQL query writing would be very helpful. In brief-any project that i can work on in building all the requirements by writing SQL which simulates real time scenarios of SQL development.
Please help me ,i am struggling.

    Hi all,

I had another doubt with respect to this. While attending a oracle course, the instructor had told about an installation option of installing oracle 10g on Linux using VMware/virtual -i am sorry i am not sure about it.
So,can you please give your inputs about this process as I dont know about how to setup?

(b)How do i use a vitual machine if i install it? I mean how will it work?
(c)Then,at last how do i install Oracle with Linux on that?

  • Installation error message for Oracle Database software for version 10g

Would someone be able to advise why I keep getting the following error message whilst installing Oracle trial Database software for version 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition? Link listed below : -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
    Error message "Cannot create directory"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp"
Below is the 12 steps that I go through, please advise what I'm doing wrong : -
    1. (Operations) default is Create a database
    2. (Database templetes) default is general purpose
    3. (Database Identification) projemp.local for Global database name & projemp for SID
    4. (Management options) default is "Configure the database with Enterprise manager, also the options button has been clicked for "Use database control for database management"
    5. (Database Credentials) the options button has been clicked for "Use the same password for all accounts" so I've set up a new password, was that correct?
    6. (Storage options) the options button is clicked for "File System - use the file system for database storage.
    7. (Database file locations) the options button is clicked for "Use database file locations for template" Is this option correct? Other options are Use common location for all database files or use Oracle-managed files?
    8. (Recovery configuration) the options button is clicked for "Specify flash recovery area
    9. (Database content) nothing has been selected, the only option is "Sample schemas" should that be clicked?
    10. (Initialization parameters) the options button is clicked for "Typical- allocate memory as a % of the total physical memory
    11. (Database storage) no options available
    12. (Creation options) the options button has been selected for "Create Database"
    Click finish
I then get a screen stating General purpose, click OK then I get the following error message as stated at the start of this e-mail ""Cannot create directory"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp".

I've gone through my courses instructions as listed above (1-12) and end up with the following error message"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp".What course?
    >
I've removed the software from my computer using control panel, programs & features then uninstall once but the other five times the software hasn't been listed. Whilst the Oracle was on my task bar I was able to install using Start > Programs > Oracle - HOME-NAME > Database Administration > Database Configuration Assistant. No you didn't. Database Configuration Assistant does not remove software. It can remove a database. As I mentioned before, there is a difference between the software and the objects that software manages. Deleting an Excel spreadsheet is not the same as deleting Microsoft Office. Deleting an Oracle database with Database configuration assistant is not the same as removing the Oracle software.
    >
Now that oracle is not on my task bar I've unzipped the link below, clicked on db, Disk1, setup, changed the Database password (is that correct?) install and I get the following error message "Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed<<<<<
Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
    Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses;
However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adaptor to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP."
So what did you do with the above error message? Did you follow up on what it said? Did you read the very fine Installation Guide that comes with the software? Did you read the section on networking considerations where it discussed DHCP assigned addresses and installing the loopback adapter?
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
Ok, that link takes us to the download page, which does not shed any light at all on your problems
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit operating system, and my computer is saying I have 142 GB free space.
If you read the installation manual that came with the downloaded software, you'd have seen in the prerequisites that Home editions of Windows are NOT listed as supported platforms, whereas Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions specifically ARE listed as supportd.
    Hope this is some help.And
I'm not to clever on computers so would you be able to advise how I get to the command window to issue the SET command please?
Also I've no idea what OS user I am, I'm taking an on-line Oracle course and been advised to install "Oracle Database software for version 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition"
How do I find out if I'm part of an Administrator, ORA_DBA group ?
Can you walk me through how to create the directory from command line please?Ok, given the above statements from you, I'm not even sure where to begin. I don't want to be cruel, but this self-admitted lack of even the most rudimentary knowledge by someone attempting to learn about Oracle is truly astounding. What course are you taking? Why are you taking this course?

  • Oracle newbie : where to start?

    Hi all
Im based in East London, UK.
    My background is Medical I.T
I have been working in 1st\2nd line technical support
for abt 2 yrs and would like to move into a unsaturated
part of I.T like oracle databases.
The cost of Oracle courses are so expensive so i will
probably be teaching myself it by installing the
    system on my windows XP.
Now in order to get into oracle work... which is the
best way? to learn oracle 9i will take ages.
can i get into it by getting the Oracle OPERATOR
certification..getting a job and then take it from there.
    pls advise,
    Jasmine Khan

don't know how the job market is in england, but in the us where i live, an OCA probably would not help much....things are pretty depressed here right now.
I teach Oracle 9i classes at the local Community College and tell my students the same thing. An OCP MIGHT help get you in the door for an interview.
9i is not that much more difficult than was/is 8i. There is one less test. For 7, 8 and 9i you took 5 tests. For 9i there is only 4. The first one is now just pure SQL (no PL/SQL) The DBA FUNDS II is now the combination of what used to be Networking and Backup and Recovery.
Go on line to book sellers and look for the exam crams for 9i and if you study them and really remember most of what is in there, you should do OK.
email me at [email protected] and I may be able to help a little further

  • Reinitialize Oracle

    Hello,
    My Oracle : 11g : Operational System : Windows Server 2008 64 bits.
I've just modified some parameters about archive log mode for the Oracle database.
Now I need to restart it, but I can't do that now.
I'd like to create a script and execute it during the night by using windows tools.
The name of my Oracle instance is SATH
I have these Oracle services running on windows :
    Oracle SATH VSS Writer Service
    OracleDBConsoleSATH
    OracleJobSchedullerSATH
    OracleMTSRecoveryService
    OracleOraDB11g_home2TNSListener
    OracleRemExecService
    OracleServiceSATH .
Considering that there will be no users accessing the system when I execute the script...
Which services should I stop and restart ?
What commands do I use to stop and restart the services in scripts ? (netsender stop...restart ?? I don't remember..)
Could you please help me ?
    Eduardo

    Yes, you are correct.
Our first Oracle system was intalled last Monday.
The people who installed it will return only in November.
And we will take Oracle courses only in October.
Untill October, I just need to change the backup routine to use archivelog mode.
Just one backup full once a day is not enough for us.
The archivelog mode was already changed.
After the database restart, I will implement the backups. (on Monday).
I didn't even know anything about the existence of this "2-day manual" .
But after your mentioning it, I founded it in Internet and I've just downloaded it..........................
