Oracle Data Services Integrator Vs Oracle Data Integrator

Hi All,
I have an ODSI Project in ODSI 10g R3. I want to migrate it to 11G as we are migrating from 10G to 11G in all other components.
Is there any upgrade version of ODSI available? Or
What is ODI(Oracle Data Integrator)? Can I use this?
Please help me.

Hi,
ODSI will only work on WLS 10.3.0, not the latest release WLS 10.3.6 (also known as 11gR1 PS5). This is usually not an issue as ODSI typically is not collocated with other WLS applications on the same machine; you can view an ODSI+WLS cluster as a black box.
We are working on a new ODSI release, but we have not published a release date or the version it will be.
ODI is significantly different architecturally than ODSI; ODI moves data to a consolidated target database, while ODSI federates access to distributed sources without an additional database. You can search online for federation vs. consolidation to get a comparison of these two techniques. Depending on your use case and requirements ODI might be an option for you.

Schema Mapping in Data Service Integrator

Hi,
I'm just examining some schema mapping programs like BizTalk, Altova and IBM Rational Data Architect, and now found Oracle Data Service Integrator which might be a similiar tool. Actually I found out about Data Service Integrator via BeQ AquaLogic, which probably had been some schema mapping tool before Oracle acquired it and now offers it as Data Service Integrator.
My question is, whether Oracle Data Service Integrator is really applicable for schema mapping/matching, such as creating mappings between xml, csv/flat files or database schemas. I already downloaded it and tried it out, but had troubles creating a map. According to a tutorial you create a physical data service if you wanna do something like mapping, but after I did this there was only a "map" with a source schema. There was no way to add a target schema and map it with the source schema.
So can I create mappings in Data Service Integrator or are there other products which would be more convenient (Oracle Warehourse Builder for instance)? If so, does anyone know whether there is a good tutorial how to map simple schemas such as xml files in Oracle Data Service Integrator?

After you create your physical data services, create a logical data service using your target schema as the 'return type'. Then add functions and use the xquery mapper to map your physical data services (csv, database, xml, web service etc) to your target schema. You can also use logical data services as the input to a logical data service.

Web Services Integration issues on Oracle Web Service Example Page..

The Oracle hosted pages for the Web Services Integration, all of the applications are dying when you try and run them. 1/2 of them are having ACL (Access Control List issues)..
Don't know if this is because of the change-over to APEX 4.0 or a new version of teh database being used, just though Oracle should know and they MIGHT want to fix them..

BI Publisher and Presentation services integration

Hi,
I have configured BI publisher and done the presentation services integration also. When I try to build a query by connecting to RPD, I am able to generate a query and design the report.
But when I select BI Answers as a data source, I am not listed out the reports. When I click on browse button, it opens the popup window and dispays BI Catalog and nothing else. when I check saw log, it has authentication error.
We have enabled LDAP authentication. I have used Administrator user to configure BI publisher. I have enabled the BI Publisher security type for BI Publisher authentication.
I have used the Administrator user while executing the cryptotools utility.
The following is the error.
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLDriverConnectW).
State: 08004. Code: 10018. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: 08004] [nQSError: 10018] Access for the requested connection is refused.
[nQSError: 13024] Successful completion of init block 'LDAP Authentication' is required. (08004)
I am loogin in using administrator user and trying to use BI answers as a data source.
If anyone have any idea on this issue. Kindly help on the same.

Hi,
Yes Seriously , the documentation at this link http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/fusionapps.1111/e20838/jdev.htm shows clearly there is a out-of-box region called "BI Publisher Region " to be integrated with ADF UI.
But after installing the extensions also I am not able to find that option.
I have installed "Oracle Fusion Applications Companion 11g (11.1.1.5.3) " updates as mentioned here "https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevextensions/entry/setting_up_a_fusion_applications"
After installing we see "BI ADF Components" in Technology Scope but If we open a jspx/jsff we don't see "BI Publisher" region option in component palette. Looks like there is something seriously missing.
One thing to note is I installed Jdev 11.1.1.5 downloaded from OTN and installed the updates from "http://edelivery.oracle.com" will that be a problem?
Any body from ORACLE ACE directors pls help us. We need this region looks like it has more options to save the document etc..

Service Integration for Internal Communication

I created a Service Integration for Internal Communication to send Opportunity data to my custom BO in a separate deployment unit. I've gone through the documentation and all the steps, but I don't understand how to get the A2A to actually send the data. Do I have to call it in a script?
I'd love to see some more documentation on A2A scenarios for communication to separate deployment units, because I need help.

Domain Server, Sql2012 server and SP2013 Server (3 vm servers)
the sql server reporting services service application and applications Proxy are installed and started (SP2013 Sever)
the sql server PowerPivot system Service and SQL server Reporting Services Service are Started (in Services on Server)
in sql server 2012 sp1 reporting service configured (web service URL and Report Manager URL are configured and tested, the database report server mode is native) (SQl 2012 Server)
under general Application Settings .. trying to setup the "Reporting Service Integration" give us the above error message (Report Server WMI Provider Error: Invalid namespace)
I was looking for all blogs and TechNet material but without success.

Follow these steps:
1) Uninstall SSRS from the Database Engine server (MSSQLSERVER instance).
2) Install SSRS on the SharePoint server using the "Reporting Services - SharePoint" install option during SQL Feature selection, no other services are required (e.g. you do not need to install Database Engine services).
3) You should then see SSRS as a Service Instance in Central Admin -> Manage Services on Server, at which point you can also create an SSRS Service Application.
While this guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219068.aspx#bkmk_install_SSRS) walks you through it, this is for a single server install where the Database Engine is also installed on SharePoint, not something you want to do.

Reporting services integration feature not available in 2010 experience mode site collection.

I have a 2013 SP farm with SQL reporting services 2012 configured. When I create a site collection using the 2010 experience mode, I don't see the "Reporting Services Integration" feature under site collection features. However this feature is
available when I create a site collection in 2013 experience mode. Is there a way I can activate the "Reporting Services integration" feature in a site created in 2010 experience mode? I am not able to activate the feature on a 2010 experience mode
site collection using PowerShell either.

From your description, When you create a site collection using the 2010 experience mode, the "Reporting Services Integration" feature is missed. However this feature is available when you create a site collection in 2013 experience mode.
For your issue, whether your 2010 experience mode site collection is in the same web application with the 2013 mode site collection. if not, make sure the web application which contains the 2010 site collecction have been
enabled ssrs service,
Go to CA->Application Management->Manage web applications-Choose the web application->Click Service Connections->Check SSRS, refer to the screenshot:
Besides, I suggest you create a new 2010 mode site collection with the same tempalte and the same web application with 2013 mode site collection, compare the results.
Also you can upgrade you 2010 mode site collection to the 2013 mode and compare the results.

Web Self Service integration

I'm new with SOAP and WSDL and I have to create a web Self Service for Our Company, I choose PHP as DL, So could You give me a general view of the Web Self Service integration and i will be grateful if you post some documentation and Samples Code.
Also, the web Self Service user's are the contacts of the registered Company in the CRM, So How Can Get a Session ID for that.

There is no concept called Web Self service in Siebel On Demand. Siebel On deman provides Web Service Interface. Getting sessionid sample code is available in Web Service integrating guide.

Active "Report Service Integration Feature" failed

I tried to reactive the "Report Service Integration Feature" from "Deactivate", but failed. system show
The content type with Id 0x010100C3676CDFA2F24E1D949A8BF2B06F6B8B defined in feature {e8389ec7-70fd-4179-a1c4-6fcb4342d7a0} was found in the current site collection or in a subsite.
Please let me know how to fix it.

One thing you could try is (re)installing the SSRS 2014 addin on your SharePoint server(s).

Report service Integration vs Report Service SharePointMode

Hi,
I see some msdn docs using the terms "RS Integrated mode" while some other msdn docs use the terms "RS SharePoint Mode".
Are those the same thing?
I guess it is just diferent terminology used with diferent produtcs versions RS2008/SP2010 & RS2012/SP2013.
Am I wright or are there other considerations?
Note: I'm not considering the RS Native mode Webparts .

Directory service integration - get no mapping working

Hello,
We are running SGD 4.3 and are using UNIX and LDAP login profiles. Login
works fine (I can see LDAP address of the users in the detailed info page).
But we do not get the Directory service integration working. Up till now I was
thinking that this is due to wrong mappings on either SDG or/and our LDAP
server. But now I added a filter to show the webtop server content mappings
(server/webtop) and find the following discrepancy:
Log file for server/webtop/moreinfo says:
2007/01/24 17:36:49.946 (pid 21954) server/webtop/moreinfo #1169656609946
The LDAP Webtop generator did not match the following apps
user: uid=ttfguest,ou=People,ou=ttf,dc=desy,dc=de
o=organization/cn=ddd but I do see the application named "ddd" (for which I limited the visibility via DSI to
certain groups) on ttfguest webtop.
Do I completely misunderstood something here - or is there some error in our
configuration/setup whatsoever?
Any help/tip is greatly welcome!

This I do not understand. To be more precise:
We allow two login profiles:
UNIX profile
LDAP profile
Even if I remove all links from the UNIX profile, the users still see the ddd application.
For the ddd application I constrained the visibility via DSI to certain LDAP users. This
seems really to work (for me understanding) judging from the log message (see my
first entry).
So to my understanding nothing is overriding the constrain from the DSI but still the
application is visible to all users.
I up till now did not manage to get any application hidden by use of DSI (even
though the logs give exactly what I expect - which makes me believe that the LDAP
interoperability is fine like this).
My general impression is that something still overrides all DSI constrains!?
So still any tip/help would be very welcome!

Integrating Analytics model with Data Services/Integrator

We are trying to integrate a regression model (analytics result) in PMML format into the data solution. We are using Data Services and our clients also have Data Services/Data Integrator.
What is the method to apply the analytics model over the complete data solution. We could be flagging or scoring data.
Appreciate all help in this regard.

No offense indended. Neither do I know you in person nor your background, so I thought I better cover all possibilites, even the trivial ones. I am sure you had a similar conversation like the one below with a customer of yours
"My computer is not working!" and after hours you figured the solution: "Turn on your monitor"
The problem I was having was the inconsistant information or how I interpreted it:
Fact1: you see swapping and huge memory consumption
Fact2: The sum of virtual memory of all processes is less than the physical memory, at least does not account for swapping.
Fact3: Hence DI has to have a memory leak.
That didn't make sense to me. And I am still not sure I got your point about the core reason of it and where my understanding was wrong. Was the al_engine still living as a zombie process within Windows? Or did the SQL Server not release the session memory? I have no idea how to tell either one anyway....
In regards to row level locking in the SQL Server database I can possibly give you some background that might help: SQL Server does row level locking until it figures that to be inefficient because of the number of changes and does automatically switch to page level locking. If somebody else or even your own process but different session is touching any row inside that block, you get an error. This has caused us some troubles with DI, e.g. you have a Table Comparison in row-by-row mode. A few rows pass through the TC transform, the SQL Server is switching to page level locking and suddenly the TC cannot read a row anymore. The concept of an insert/update prohibiting a read (!!), a read of a row never touched even, is something we as Oracle DBAs would never dream of initially.

The best platform for Data Services / Integrator / Quality

Based upon the deployments of other customers, which combination of operating system and platform provides the most stable & reliable environment for Data Services / Data Integrator / Data Quality?

Windows is the platform most commonly used, so bugs are fixed faster there.
Unix is released usually a few months after the initial Windows version with all the fixes in it. Unix is commonly used by larger companies who would not accept any downtime.
Keep in mind, there is no Unix codeline of the product, all is the same source code just compiled differently.
