  • Installation of Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi Guys,
We have to install Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003.
I read on net, metalink and OTN as well and it seems there is no single 10.2.0.3 setup available to do so.
One has to upgrade from earlier version to 10.2.0.3.
Is that so? Is this the only way?
I mean if we want new and fresh 10.2.0.3 then don't we have installer for it?
In this case we will have to install 10.1.0.2 and then upgrade? (we have 10.1.0.2 installable with us)
And if at all that is the only path available then for 10.2.0.3 on Windows 32 bit - Patchset 5337014 i.e. p5337014_10203_WINNT.ZIP from metalink is the correct patch?
    Thanks in advance!

I donwloaded patchset - 5337014, and in its readme it is specified to download and install patch - 5601428.

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)

First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation  worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
(Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w,  deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
    and
    then
I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)"  from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
    The values I filled for
    1) Global Database Name :  orcl
    2) System Identifier : orcl
    3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
    4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
    5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
    6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
    Username : sys/ as sysdba
Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
After this you are ready to write your first SQL command.

Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.

  • Oracle 9.2.0.1 software URL for window 2003 server

There is NO 9.2.0.1 base software for window 2000 server.
Where can I download the 9.2.0.1 base software for window 2000 server (32 bit)?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    From metalink :
    Microsoft Windows 2003 (x86) Version 2003
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition Version 9.2
    Status: Certified
Certification Note: Patch Set 9.2.0.3.0 or higher is required.
That's why when you download 9iR2 for W2003 32-bits, you download the 9.2.0.3.

If, on the next page http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/win64soft.html
you click on product certification information, you can see "Certify - Oracle's Certification Matrices".
If you choose "View Certifications by Platform", etc, and you arrive here http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
If you choose "View Certifications by Product", etc, and you arrive here http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html, and you can read "32-bit/64-bit Information, read this http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html.
As I well understand, on EM64T, install Windows 2003 32-bits, after what you can install Oracle 9.2.0.2 64-bits.

  • Can oracle discoverer 10 be installed on Windows 2003 server

    Hi,
I have couple of queries related to Oracle Discoverer. Need help urgently.
    1. Can Oracle Discoverer 4.1 version support Windows 2003 on which Citrix server version 4 or above is installed? If yes, please let me know the patch details to download the same.
    2. Can Oracle 10g BI Tool, Oracle Discoverer Administrator and Desktop be installed on Windows 2003 Server Operating System on which Citrix server version 4 or above be installed?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh Gurram

    Hi,
    1. Discoverer 4.1 has been desupported but was only certified for Windows 200 and XP
    2. Discoverer Desktop and Admin is support on Windows 2003:
    2003 SP1+ 10g (10.1.2.0.2 )
One thing I have to mentioned is that Oracle does not support any Citrix client operations.
If ever you encounter a problem you will need to reproduce the problem
outside of the Citrix environment to prove that it is not the cause of the problem.

  • Configuring Windows 2003 Server so Oracle Xe use one Processor exclusivly

    Hello every body
I am running Oracle Xe data base on a biprocessor under Windows 2003 server .
    My question is :
Is there a mean to tell windows 2003 server to reserve one processor to Oracle Xe
exclusivly. The other processor will handle operating system processes.
    Thanks in advance

    user470017,
I believe in Task Manager you can select a process , right-click and then set the Processor Affinity for that process (i.e. tell that process which processor you want it to run on).
Generally though, you don't need to tie a process to a particular processor since the operating system should be smart enough to figure out how to balance the processes out between the available processors.
Are you experiencing some performance issues?

    Hi Dhomya,
I am not familiar with Oracle database, though you may try to enable file system auditing:

  • Moving oracle 9i database from windows 2000 to windows 2003 server

    hi everybody,
plz provide me a solution how to move oracle 9i database from windows 2000 server to windows 2003 server with step by step and also with commands plz as i am very new to oracle
    thanks in advance
    suresh

Install 9i on windows 2003 server and patch to the same level as the Oracle on Windows 2k
Shutdown and make a cold backup of your old database. That includes datafiles, controlfiles, redo files, init file (spfile)
Copy and put these files to the exact same directory structure/location, for example if old file is under D:\oradata\mysid\ then the file on new file should be under same directory. (If you are using Network Storage that make things easier, just mapping to the same drive letter.)
Also make sure archive log dest and all dump dest directories are created. You don't have to copy all old logs and dump files over.
Use oradim to create a new service for the database instance
    http://www.psoug.org/reference/oradim.html
Set proper ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID envionment varibles
Run netca to configure listener, actually copy listener.ora and tnsnames.ora to $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin will do
    Try to start the database

  • Oracle 10G slow Performance on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi there,
Looking for a little assistance in locating a bottleneck that's started to hit our system this week. It's really odd because it's been starting around 10am every morning this week.
today is the worst that I've seen it because it's almost brought the system to a halt.....
    We're running Oracle 10.2.0.1 64b on Windows 2003 Server 64
The server has 16 processors and 64GB of RAM currently the CPU is sitting at 5% and the RAM usage is at 16.4GB
It's a blade server with a SAN backend and I'm assuming the latency is coming from the disk but I need to determine this for a fact.
I've only been a DBA for about a year and I'm stilling learing how to locate and identify issues. According to OEM I'm seeing
a ton of I/O from the users. So anyways, any help or insight would be much appreciated and a learning experience for me.
Thank you for your time and asistance.

    Thank you for the reply!
We've had finding one FOREVER, I can't resolve it and I've read somewhere to ignore because OEM is false reporting. I'm adjusting DB_Cache now...
