Oracle Database 10g installation on windows 7 32 bit

Hi,
I tried to install Oracle DB 10g but an error appeared (ORA-12546): permission denied, I searched for this error and found the following:
Cause: User has insufficient privileges to perform the requested operation.
Action: Acquire necessary privileges and try again.
BUT: I cannot understand the solution, Can you help me solve it??????
Thank you very much,,,

Thank you for your response,,
I actually use the version 10.1 which is not supported by win7, as you said before...
Now I am ok., the DB installation (10.2) is succeeded, but I installed Oracle forms builder 10.1, and when I tried to connect the form with the database, it requested from me to enter database name, I cannot know the exact name, Is there a way to find it?? (the error: ORA-12154)
Please reply as soon as possible,,
Thank you very much,,
TasneemWhat do you mean " I cannot know the exact name". You created it, didn't you?

  • Companion CD installation - getting Oracle Database 10g installation

    Hi everyone,
I want to install the Oracle Companion CD (to use HTTP server and HTMLDB) on Solaris with Oracle Database 10g. I downloaded the companion CD and when running the installer I am getting "Welcome to the Oracle Database 10g Installation". I have already installed the database so my question is why the installer is asking me to install another database ? The documentation is explaining that the user would have the choice to select an HTTP server installation.
    Best regards,
    Othman

Get the companion CD from the same place as the database. Start at http://otn.oracle.com, click on Downloads, and to to the Database download
Get the step by step instructions from the documentation. Start at http://tahiti.oracle.com, go to the database documentation for the version you are using, click on the Books tab, search for "Companion CD Installation Guide for [your operating system]" or "Companion CD Quick Installation Guide for [your operating system]" and follow the steps.
I strongly encourage you to install ONLY the HTTP server from the companion CD, and to install it into a separate ORACLE_HOME.
After that, I suggest you use APEX instead of HTMLDB (APEX is the next generation of HTMLDB and is MUCH better.) To get that going, start at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/index.html and look at "Documentation and Tutorials" for the installlation guide.

    Hello together,
We have several Oracle installation inhouse. All on different servers. Now we would to merge the Oracle database on one production and on one test server.
What is the best way to do that? We must decide between Windows and Linux Server.
On the windows Server we must use a Enterprise 64bit system to get i.e. 32 memory.?!! Is that right?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Installation of Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi Guys,
We have to install Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003.
I read on net, metalink and OTN as well and it seems there is no single 10.2.0.3 setup available to do so.
One has to upgrade from earlier version to 10.2.0.3.
Is that so? Is this the only way?
I mean if we want new and fresh 10.2.0.3 then don't we have installer for it?
In this case we will have to install 10.1.0.2 and then upgrade? (we have 10.1.0.2 installable with us)
And if at all that is the only path available then for 10.2.0.3 on Windows 32 bit - Patchset 5337014 i.e. p5337014_10203_WINNT.ZIP from metalink is the correct patch?
    Thanks in advance!

    Link - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
At the time of installation it is giving OS Compatibility error.
Can anybody tell me, is this the right version? or is there any prerequisite required before installation ?
    Please guide me.

You will need to follow the instructions here - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15680/toc.htm#BABEBBJF
10.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.4 are not certified with Win 7 - you will need to upgrade to 10.2.0.5 - this assumes you have access to My Oracle Support in order to download the patch.

  • Oracle Forms 6i(32-bit)  = Oracle database 10g R2 Windows 2008 R2 64-bit)

    We have Oracle database 10g R2 installed on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) (SERVER1)
We have Oracle Forms 6i (patch 4a) installed on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) (SERVER2)
I am not able to connect from SERVER2 to SERVER1, either through SQLPLUS or FORMS BUILDER.
    Its giving some DLL error.
    Is it because forms 6i (32-bit) cannot connect to a 64-bit database on a 64-bit OS ?

There might be problems with 8i clients (like forms 6i) if the database uses AL32UTF8 characterset indeed (if you need unicode and you need to run forms 6i use UTF8 instead) but this should not be related to the platform of the database.
The platform of the database server really should not matter as the forms runtime talks via SQL*Net with the database server and in the end it does not matter if the database runs on linux, windows whatsoever or unix 32 or 64 bit for the client. The only problem you'll encounter is that SQL*Net also changes with versions and thus "older" clients might not be able to communicate with "newer" servers and vice versa.

  • Which version of Oracle database is certified on  Windows 2008 R2 ( 64-bit)

    We have a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) server.
I wanted to know which Oracle database version is 100% certified on the above OS.

    Hi Sirini;
    10.2.0.5 is supported - see MOS Doc 1061272.1 (Statement of Direction: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Client (10.2.0.5) with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2)Correct;
11gR2 is also supported - see MOS Doc 867040.1 (Statement of Direction: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 – Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2)There is a setup on this link:
    Oracle Database 11g Release 2
    (11.2.0.1.0)
Microsoft Windows (x64) File 1, File 2 (2GB) See All
I am little bit confused for this, as you mention note and also certification matrix says 11gr2 certfied with Win2008-64 bit. But there is no specific setup like win2008-64 bit, there is only Microsoft Windows (x64) setup
By the way for 10gR2 on win 2008 64 bit platform there are 2 setups. Those are:
    Oracle Database 10g Release 2
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista x64 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64)
So i had issue for my client and oracle worker support me to use 10.2.0.4 for my issue, not second setup. So for 11gR2 could be work for Microsoft Windows (x64) but i am not sure %100 coz never tried before.
i appreciate, If someone share their experience to make installation 11gR2 on win2008-64 bit wiht Microsoft Windows (x64) setup
All those upper setups can be found at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
I do not believe 11gR1 is currently certified with Win 2008 R2.Please check below link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
Oracle Database 11g Release 1 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition

  • Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Beta 2 Installation

Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Beta 2 Release for Microsoft Windows installation successful, no problems.

    Hi Rekha,
The format mask 999G999G999G999G990D0000 is the format mask that I selected from the software itself. I also use this format mask for a single record update. If' s ok, no error, but with tabular form with multiple record update, it shows error .I also changed the decimal point to two digits ,select from software pop-up window (this was tested in the workspace provide by Oracle). It still shows error. Last test I put the space like 1 111,111.00 in a single record update it shows error (but if I put 1 in front of 111,111 without space it's ok-no space before). My point is from user point of view.In the first time user input 100000 the software accept it. Opp! it has to be 1100000. The user comes back after submit and put 1 without comma. It shows error (in tabular form with multiple record update not in single row update). While in the first time the user do not to key any comma at all. This may makes some confuses both the users and the developers which had to check error by adding program to checking some where in Page Processing or Page Rendering.
    Thanks

Currently, we are running a lower version of database i.e 10.2.0.1.0 on windows server 2003. I need to migrate theses servers into virtual environment running Windows server 2008 64 bit.
The document you referred applies to MS Windows 32 bit. However, I see that Oracle Database and Oracle Database Client 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.5) for Windows x64 are supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15680/toc.htm#CHDFHIEA
From where, can we download the older versions of Oracle database as it is not available on OTN (The version of Oracle Database you are looking for is no longer available on OTN. Please visit any of the following links for current release information).

  • Installation error - Oracle Database 10g Express Edition

Hi - I've just tried to install Oracle Database 10g Express Edition from the Oracle website and I'm getting this error.
Error 1327 Invalid Drive: I:\ . I've googled the error but can't find much. It seems that the path is hardcoded into the msi installation package.
Anyone else seen this issue before as I'm at a loss at what to do ?
I'm wondering do I have to create an I:\ drive on my machine but that seems a little unusual
    Hope someone can help
    Cheers.

This problem may occur if you have used the Disk Administrator utility included in Microsoft Windows to change the drive letter of the hard disk that the operating system is installed on, for example, the C drive.
The problem occurs because the Oracle Universal Installer uses registry keys to determine the locations of certain folders that are required to install Oracle. If the drive letter of the hard disk that contains the operating system has been changed, the registry keys refer to nonexistent folders and Setup fails.
To correct this problem, use the Windows Disk Administrator program to restore the drive letter of the hard disk to its original value:
    1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and click Disk Administrator.
    2. Right-click the drive whose letter you want to change. On the shortcut menu, click Assign Drive Letter.
    3. Select the correct drive letter from the list and click OK.
If you are prompted to quit the Disk Administrator or to restart your computer, do so. Once the computer has restarted, attempt to install again.

Check the log files in the installation directory. That should give some more details as to what exactly is going on.

i'm using bash shell. If you are using a bash shell then .bash_profile is used by default.
It is located in user's home, if it does not exist then simply create it.
can this file be edited after installation?Yes. And also you can set the enviroment temporary (just for current session)
I just can't find the vi .login file."vi" is command (text editor very common in Unix and Unix like world)
.login does not need to exist (see .bash_profile as above). Note .login is ignored by bash shell.
