Oracle database 9.2.0.8 patchset upgrade from 9.2.0.3

Hi,
i have a situation where i upgraded the Oracle software with database as per metalink documentation from 9.2.03 to patchset 9.2.0.8 (Oracle9i Patch Set Release 2 (9.2.0.8) Patch Set 7 for HP-UX PA-RISC (64-Bit) ) (README for 4547809 )
but i could see the $ORACLE_HOME/bin binaries are still at 9.2.0.3, and so v$version dba_registry pointing to same.
i have pasted few lines of patch installation log from Inventory

  • "Database logon failed" error received after upgrading from CR XI to CR 200

    We have a bunch of reports that use ttx files and datasets.  The code to support this was written and compiled originally using .NET 2.0 and CR XI.  After recompiling using .NET 3.5 and CR 2008 (not the version that came with VS2008), when I run the reports, I now receive an error "Database logon failed".  after clicking throught he error, I am prompted to enter a username and password.  Just for the heck of it, I entered my database userame and password with no luck.  I cancelled out of the login dialog and the frae of the report appeared but no report.  No code was changed.  How do I fix this?
    I know that I should convert the reprots to use xml schema files but I have over 300 reports and this will take time.  I need to get this fixed ASAP.  After I get this running, I can then [leisurely] fix the reports and use xsd files.

    Since the reports were create off of ttx files, they would be expecting a recordset at that time. How are you passing the data to the reports with CR 2008 and VS 2008?
    Also, see the following:

  • Where can I get Oracle database server 9i for windows 2003

    Hi,
    I need Oracle Database Server 9i for Windows 2003. From Oracle online download, there is one a patch set available. Where can I get the full version?
    Thanks
    Laura

    Hi, I found the solution. There is no software to direcly install Oracle 9i on Windows 2003. I need to install the software for NT/2000 first, the patch it.
    That's why there is only patchset for 2003 for downloading. See the doc below:
    three installation components required to install
    Oracle9i Database release 2 (9.2.0.3.0) on Windows Server 2003. These three
    installation components must be installed in the order listed. If you are
    migrating a pre-existing Oracle9i database to Windows Server 2003, first
    upgrade the database to the Oracle9i Database release 2 (9.2.0.3.0) patch set
    before upgrading the operating system.
    Obtain the following installation components:
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for Windows
    Oracle Universal Installer release 2.2.0.18.0 for Windows
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0.3.0) Patch Set for Windows

  • AIX 6 and Oracle database 10g/11g

    Dear All,
    We are planning to upgrade our OS from AIX 5.3 to AIX 6.1 and infact have upgraded couple of servers to 6.
    In light of cost saving/cutting, how can AIX 6 help reduce licensing fee for Oracle databases. In other words, we would like to look into possibilities of reducing Oracle database (10g/11g) licensing fee by upgrading OS to AIX 6.
    Will the new feature like CPU virtualization be helpful in this regard? Are there any other features which could be worth looking into?
    I would be grateful if any of you could shed some light on this.
    Regards

    Dear All,
    We are planning to upgrade our OS from AIX 5.3 to AIX 6.1 and infact have upgraded couple of servers to 6.
    Regards

  • Is it really necessary to Upgrade from Oracle EBS R11i to R12?

    Hi,
    Oracle Applications 11.0.3 (Oracle Financials) was implemented in our company and later in 2006 it was upgraded to 11.5.10 (with new implementation of Supply Chain Management Module - INV,OM and PO) and 2 months ago we upgraded it to 11.5.10.2+DB 11gR2.
    I've been recommending to upgrade to R12 but the Finance Users are reluctant for an upgrade and of the opinion that the R12 has many bugs and there will be issues after upgrade to R12.
    Once of the consultant is of the opinion that its better to re-implement R12 instead of Upgrade. He also tells me that R12 does not have sub-accounting and sub-ledger and trial balance reports in AP.Since I am not a Functional Consultant I could not comment on this.
    Please advice if there are any useful docs which address the upgrade to R12 issues which I can share with our consultant and users.
    I am currently going thru +Upgrade Advisor: Oracle E-Business Suite Financials and Projects Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 and 12.1.2 [ID 256.1]+

    R12.1.x is a stable release that many customers (including Oracle themselves) have upgraded to.

    The Finance modules have been completely re-written and fucntionality had changed for the better. Re-implementation typically costs upto 3 times more than a upgrade. Re-implementation is not necessary if the business model and process have not changed. What are the consultants justifications for doing a re-implementation (other than making more money) ?
    Please advice if there are any useful docs which address the upgrade to R12 issues which I can share with our consultant and users.

  • Using JDBC Adapter posting data from Oracle database to Falt file????

    Hi All,
      By using JDBC adapter, for now I have to connect to Oracle Database and then get the employee information from the Employee Table and post it to the flat file, can you please help me out the complete procedure...
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    have a look at the help for configuring a JDBC Sender adapter: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7e/5df96381ec72468a00815dd80f8b63/content.htm
    It mentions all the settings you'll need to make e.g. the connection URL as posted above.
    And it also lists how an XML file looks like that contains the query results according to the SQL Select statement in the adapter.
    <resultset>
    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</ column-name1>
    <column-name2>column-value</ column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</ column-name3>
    </row>
    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</ column-name1>
    <column-name2>column-value</ column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</ column-name3>
    </row>
    </resultset>
    So you have to create a datatype, message type and message interface to match this structure (of course you'll need to substitute column-name1 etc. with the column names in your select statement).
    Now if you want to create a flat file from that, you have to create an XML representation of that flat file and use the content conversion in the receiver file adapter as defined here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d2/bab440c97f3716e10000000a155106/content.htm

  • Export import - using TOAD FOR ORACLE  and ORACLE DATABASE 10G EXPRESS or s

    Hi all,
    Could you please kindly help me?
    I am using TOAD FOR ORACLE to export a table to flat file A. The tool just supports to distinguish fields by "spaces".
    And the web page of ORACLE DATABASE 10G EXPRESS to import the data from flat file A to another database. To load data to a table from a text file, the web page bases on "comma" to distinguish fields.
    So could you have any suggestion for me? I need to export data via TOAD FOR ORACLE. And then import it to another database by the home page of ORACLE DATABASE 10G EXPRESS or sqlplus.
    Thank you so much for your help!

    Dont use TOAD for exporting your data. Use PL/SQL. Below is the code given in Asktom.com that does what you want.
    create or replace function  dump_csv( p_query     in varchar2,
                                          p_separator in varchar2 default ',',
                                          p_dir       in varchar2 ,
                                          p_filename  in varchar2 )
    return number
    is
        l_output        utl_file.file_type;
        l_theCursor     integer default dbms_sql.open_cursor;
        l_columnValue   varchar2(2000);
        l_status        integer;
        l_colCnt        number default 0;
        l_separator     varchar2(10) default '';
        l_cnt           number default 0;
    begin
        l_output := utl_file.fopen( p_dir, p_filename, 'w' );
        dbms_sql.parse(  l_theCursor,  p_query, dbms_sql.native );
        for i in 1 .. 255 loop
            begin
                dbms_sql.define_column( l_theCursor, i, l_columnValue, 2000 );
                l_colCnt := i;
            exception
                when others then
                    if ( sqlcode = -1007 ) then exit;
                    else
                        raise;
                    end if;
            end;
        end loop;
        dbms_sql.define_column( l_theCursor, 1, l_columnValue, 2000 );
        l_status := dbms_sql.execute(l_theCursor);
        loop
            exit when ( dbms_sql.fetch_rows(l_theCursor) <= 0 );
            l_separator := '';
            for i in 1 .. l_colCnt loop
                dbms_sql.column_value( l_theCursor, i, l_columnValue );
                utl_file.put( l_output, l_separator || l_columnValue );
                l_separator := p_separator;
            end loop;
            utl_file.new_line( l_output );
            l_cnt := l_cnt+1;
        end loop;
        dbms_sql.close_cursor(l_theCursor);
        utl_file.fclose( l_output );
        return l_cnt;
    end dump_csv;

  • Differences between different versions of Oracle Database 10 g

    I have some questions about the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 that we download from Oracle web site.
    1)Does the software that we download from Oracle web site is similar to Enterprise Edition or Standard Edition or Standard Edition One or to which edition? In other words, similar to which edition?
    2)What are the differences between Enterprise, Standard, and Standard Edition one?
    3)Are they any features included in the licensing Oracle Database that does not include in the free one that we download from Oracle web site?

    The dowloaded software contains every of the four editions. You choose which edition you want during the installation process.
    The differences and extra-cost options are described in this paper on OTN

  • Connect ODI12c to Oracle Database in Cloud

    Hi,
    Could anyone throw some light on how to connect ODI12c to Oracle and Non-Oracle Database hosted on Private or Public Cloud from on premise ODI12c instance?
    I have read an article by David Alan, explains connecting through SSL Tunnel. Is it the only way? Is there any out-of-the-box method to connect to Cloud?
    I have also read the white paper by Oracle, which says ODI can be used for data integration with cloud. But, How?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    MT

    Right now there's no other way to connect in the cloud DB other than sql developer, but you don't need a tunnel to connect with it.
    You need just to configure your connection with you sftp info and it will work.
    Take a look in this article that's very useful.

    Hope this can help you.

  • Upgrade from 11i projects to r12 projects

    Can anyone provide me with a document on how to upgrade from existing 11i projects to R12 projects?
    Or if you let me know the pre-requisites that would be of great help me to me.

    You will need to follow the standard R12 upgrade process. You will first need to upgrade to 12.1.1 (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B53825_03/current/acrobat/121upgrade.pdf), then apply the R12.1.3 patch (MOS Doc 1081434.1- Oracle Projects Release 12.1.3 Readme)
    MOS Doc 256.1 (Upgrade Advisor: Oracle E-Business Suite Financials and Projects Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 and 12.1.2) may also be relevant.

  • Upgrading from Oracle database 10.1.0.2 to 10.2.0.3

    Hello
    I'm new to oracle database installations. I'm trying to upgrade from 10.1.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 but have no clue on how to do it...
    What must i do and where can i download the necessary executables? Metalink?
    I thank in advance all your help!
    Best regards

    OK,
    This is an upgrade from 10g Rel 1 to 10g Rel 2 plus the 10.2.0.3.0 patchset. It means you will have to perform these operation>
    0. Perform a full backup of your current environment.
    1. Install 10gR2 on a separate Oracle Home.
    2. Apply the 10.2.0.3.0 patchset on top of this new oracle installation.
    3. Perform the database upgrade process to upgrade your database from 10gR1 to 10gR2-3
    This is not an upgrade guide and there are a lot of details you must consider prior to actually executing this procedure, I suggest you to read the 10gR2 upgrade guide you can find here --> http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/toc.htm
