Oracle DataBase server component is in INVALID in 10.2.0.4
Hi
I took full RMAN backup from production two node RAC system. Production system is in Oracle 10.2.0.3. I tried to restore the backup in another system which is single node system Oracle 10.2.0.4. I restored and recovered database successfully. When I try to do 'alter database open resetlogs' I received following error:
RMAN-03002: failure of alter db command at 11/05/2009 08:39:10
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced
ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure
ORA-39700: database must be opened with UPGRADE option
Then I started database with upgrade option.

'Scheduler' link in Oracle Database Control
Hi all,
In Oracle Database Control, I cannot see link to "Scheduler" under Administration tab page as described in the documentation or a link to "Manage Current Backups"
How can I obtain those links?
Please note that I'm speaking about Oracle EM Databse Control (that shipped with the datbase CD itself) and not the Database Grid Control product.
Thanks in advance,
Ahmed B.I have the same problem with Grid Control 10.1.0.4 on Sun Solaris 9. Target database are 10.1.0.4.0 64-bit, also on Solaris 9 64-bit. As described in Help, under "Administration" tab is sub-tab "Scheduler" with following links: Jobs, Schedules, Programs, Job Classes, Windows, Window Groups.
Who knows, what I need to do for resolving this issue? I need scheduler administration! -
No Oracle database vault component found in Oracle database 10g software?
No Oracle Database Vault component found in Oracle database 10g software. Where can I get the Oracle Database Vault software(10g)?
Database Vault is not a include by default into the database server software. You have to install it in addition of the Database Server Software.
You can download it from :
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database_vault/index.html
Note, you need to have "Oracle Label Security" and "Oracle Enterprise Manager Console" previously installed in your ORACLE_HOME.
Find out more in the install doc :
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b32492/upgrd.htm

when i check the path i found the last folder with sid name in lower case /db0/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/zainbi.zainiq.com_db11g.
I have rename the directory with /db0/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/zainbi.zainiq.com_DB11G.
Then i execute emctl status dbconsole command it show running state and i have successfully connected to my enterpirse manager.
So moral of the story is : use the same case for database sid in tnsname and database installation other wise face problem in configuring oracle enterprise manager repository.
Thanks

Can not open database control in oracle 11g r2, listener issues
Hi,
I installed Oracle 11g r2 database on my laptop for testing. at beginning everything was fine and working. 2 days later i am unable to run oracle database control.. i get page not found!
I tried all the tricks and read almost 200 pages from oracle documentation, none of this was even close to help!
(by the way oracle documentation is a fail in my opinion, it really tend to complicate things so much and talk about things not related to what a developer want to read about, its even hard for professional programmer to keep up with this, I started to hate dealing with Oracle before even going deep!!)
I tried deleting database and creating new database i get the following warning:
- Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error:
listener is not up or database service is not registered with it. start listener and register database service.. etc.
Some how after few hours the control is working but the database is not there, and it shows that the listener is up, but database is down.
I tried creating a new database, but i get the error above (it seems its created but not linked to listener!!)
I guess what triggered this error is running xampp, i was also working in php project and ran xampp for test, since then oracle is corrupted!
any help would be appreciated (please don't send me links to oracle documentation because its useless and not straight to the point)
RegardsHi
thank you for the reply
I assume i should do this through SQL plus?
anyway, now am getting new error: ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (150) exceeded
I get this error when trying to login to SQL plus, or create/configure database.
I tried deleting oracle 11g via universal installer i get message saying run the command c:\...dbhome_1\deinstall\deinstall
I don't understand Oracle totally collapsed in my laptop with no reason -

Oracle database 9.2.0.4 Critical Patch Update
Hi,
is oracle database 9.2.0.4 running on Windows still supported for critical patch updates? I went through the supported list in Critical Patch Update October 2006 but there was no reference to Oracle database 9.2.0.4. Oracle Premier Support for Oracle Database 9.2 expires in July 2007 - shouldn't this be included?
ThanksSo why aren't versions 9.2.0.1/2/3/4 included in the
Critical Patch Update?9.2.0.5 is not listed either, neither were they listed in the July 2006 CPU.
My guess is that the versions no longer fall under one of the items I listed earlier. You can file an SR with Oracle to get the exact reason. -
Hi, I don't know how to find a specific security patch to apply to my Oracle database version 11.2.0.2.0 (on windows server 2003 32 bits) to fix the following vulnerability:
Risk: High
Application: oracle_tnslsnr
Port: 1521
Protocol: tcp
Synopsis:
It is possible to register with a remote Oracle TNS listener.
Description:
The remote Oracle TNS listener allows service registration from a remote host. An attacker can exploit this issue to divert data from a
legitimate database server or client to an attacker-specified system.
Successful exploits will allow the attacker to manipulate database instances, potentially facilitating man-in-the-middle, sessionhijacking,
or denial of service attacks on a legitimate database server.
Solution:
Apply the work-around in Oracle's advisory.

Thank you for your help
that sounds like the "tns poison" vulnerability. CVE 2012-1675 - Oracle Security Alert CVE-2012-1675
See MOS note 134083.1 and 1453883.1 -
CVE-2007-1862 vulnerability - problem with Apache mem_cache.
I have a problem with CVE-2007-1862, which is an Apache mem_cache vulnerability. Even though my Snow Leopard machine is currently running Apache 2.2.17 and the problem supposedly went away with a much earlier version, the problem has not gone away. By the way, this machine also has Java Update 24 on it, while a similarly configured Snow Leopard machine does not have it (and the Filemaker Pro Admin Console still works on that one).
Anyway, I am hoping that installing Apache 2.2.18 in a Software update will take care of this problem.
Does anyone know when Apache 2.2.18 will be in a Software Update?Your parameter db_recovery_file_dest look strange
db_recovery_file_dest = I:\oracle\product\10.2.0/flash_recove db_recovery_file_dest_size= 10737418240
Did you put a slash (/) instead of a backslash (\) ?
You're saying "can´t enter this the SYS user"
It could be your log_archive_dest that is full.
Do you get an error message? -
Oracle TNS Poison vulnerability - CVE-2012-1675
Oracle announced a zero day vulnerability today - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alert-cve-2012-1675-1608180.html
Looks like a man in the middle attack.
For CF8 or CF9, can the native oracle driver be configured to use SSL/TLS?Rather than attempting to patch something without official patches and potentially breaking your license to use it, I suggest disabling listener dynamic registration and configuring a static local_listener parameter within your XE database. The TNS poison vulnerability relies on dynamic listener registration, and by disabling it we should no longer have risk from this vulnerability.

at oracle.sysman.emcp.EMConfigAssistant.main(EMConfigAssistant.java:412)Hi all,
i started creating database control repository, when i saw emca running i had seen repository created successfully , but sysman user is not created at this point of time. Then i looked into emca_repos_create_2008-04-10_11-57-03-AM.log file but the file is unable to open because it's looking for file emreposcre.sql which creates sysman user in this location /opt/db/oracle/product/10.2.0/sysman/admin/emdrep/sql/
i feel while installing the database these files are not created....? or i need to run any scripts before running emca ....?
give me some inputs to this thread.
Thanks,
nil

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.3.0
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.3.0 is one hour behiend on AIX 5.3.
I have installed the new timezone version 4 already by oracle DST path database is good OEM main page is showing one hour behiend.
I have done every possible effort last thing may be i have to update java home i have 1.4 IBM java on the server.
Please help me in this. Thanks.See the Metalink Note *Impact Document for Daylight Saving Time Shift for Enterprise Manager Grid Control [ID 417939.1]* Appendix B - FAQ - point 18
What is the impact of not patching the JDK on the OMS for 10g Grid Control?
If you do not patch the JDK on the OMS page refreshed times and possibly other times displayed in the console will be incorrect (they will be off by 1 hour) during an affected period.
Oracle strongly recommends that you do patch the OMS JDK but we are not aware of any data corruption in the repository nor of any impact on critical EM functionalities (such as severities, notifications and jobs) when the JDK is not patched.
