  • Error after an ebs 11i installation

    Hi,
Could anybody tell me why I receive this error ("DAC-405: SessionInfo: Application module creation failed; className: AbmSessionAM") when I what to opne a forms in Oracle APPS EBS 11i ?
What I have to do ?
    Thanks,
    P.

    Hi Paul,
How could I start/check if ABM is started? If using JDK 1.1.8.x on the ABM middle tier:
    $ ps -ef | grep -i osagent
$ ps -ef | grep -i jre Verify there is one osagent process and two jre processes (one for ABM and one for Gatekeeper).
If using JDK 1.3 on the ABM middle tier:
    $ ps -ef | grep -i osagent
    $ ps -ef | grep -i jre
$ ps -ef | grep -i java Verify there is one osagent process, one jre process (for Gatekeeper), and one java process (for ABM).
You also can sometimes search for the ABM process by looking for the Osagent Port number:
$ ps -ef | grep -i 14000 Where 14000 is the Osagent Port.
What I want to run is ABM Manager -> Activity Based
Management. However other forms are working well.
This error appears after a single tier installation. What do you mean by "other forms"? Do you mean other modules? If so, then this is normal.
Could you please verify ABM Installation by checking the following note:

  • Incomplete list Oracle Database Error Messages Part Number B14219-01

The following regards documentation on Oracle® Database Error Messages Part Number B14219-01 as read on http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14219/intro.htm
Reading an example on Message Stacks in section 1 Using Messages, the following error description is nowhere to be found in the main list: ORA-06502. So are many other very common errors like ORA-00942 ¿Are these described in another book?
    Thanks,

Hello again. I have learned that some of these older low-number error messages were present in the code in a different and abbreviated format than the one eventually agreed upon. These messages were entered by hand in the Error Messages book. When we began generating the messages directly from the code, some of these older messages were inadvertently dropped. We hope to fix this problem in the next release by changing the code. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes. For now the only workaround is to go back to an earlier version of the documentation, as the meaning of the messages has not changed.

  • Oracle Database unavailable after machine restart

I have a dedicated machine where I have installed Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0 under Oracle Linux 6. It worked fine until today, when I had to shutdown the machine for physical relocation. Much to my surprise, when I have restarted the machine, EM wasn't available. Then I realized I could no longer remotely connect to the Database. Then I found out that the listener was down. Then I tried starting the listener, it said that no clients are supported. Then I tried to manually start the DB from sqlplus, I could not even log in to it. Then I ran dbca, which cried about EM not being secure. Then I found out that the emkey.ora was missing (and as a newbie, I hadn't made a backup).
I spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to bring the DB online; I'm afraid I ran out of solutions. Right now I am rebuilding the whole EM Repository using dbca and hope for the best.
Update: dbca finished with no errors. I can now connect with sqlplus and see that all data is there. However, EM still doesn't properly connect. I am getting "Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance". However, state of components lists:
    - Database Instance: Open
    - Listener status: UP
    - Agent connection to Instance: Succeeded
I can't figure out why EM won't connect. I have this feeling it's a listener misconfiguration, however netca is very limited, just a next-next-next thing.
    My listener.ora is below:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = eburlacu)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /oracledb/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1)
    (SID_NAME = eburlacu)
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = eburlacu-server.ro.oracle.com)(PORT = 1521))
    ADR_BASE_LISTENER = /oracledb
    SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER = OFF
...And why is EM using port 5500?
LE: I can now remotely connect to the Database from a different machine, using Oracle SQL Developer, so the listener seems to be working well, after all. I'm confused now...

Thank you for the response. It makes some sense, however I wouldn't have expected the Oracle DB to be so se sensitive to a simple machine move.
The network configuration hasn't changed a bit. I am in the same network, I have the same IP (it's a static IP and a static DNS hostname which was granted to this machine specifically). I just changed floors.
I never touched the EM environment. All I did was:
    1. Installed Oracle Database.
    2. Added a schema (basically created a new user).
    3. Allowed SQL Developer through the firewall.
    4. Remotely connected with SQL Developer and created tables and functions, all basic SQL work, nothing fancy.
The restarts were simply for testing purposes (does it still start as expected? Are there warnings, error messages?). Two restarts were performed to re-arange some wiring, again nothing fancy.
I am just a newbie doing some learning and gaining some hands-on experience (after taking Linux and SQL classes). The Oracle Database 11g Administration Workshops are scheduled for 2013 but in the meanwhile I am trying to understand why could my installation mess up so badly with no outside interaction.
What would your advice be in this situation? Reinstall everything under OEL5 + 11.2.0.1.0? Reinstall OEL6 with clean 11.2.0.3.0 installation?
Note: my first priority at this moment is hands-on experience with SQL. Since both sql*plus and Oracle SQL Developer can connect and work fine, should I simply stop bothering with EM for the moment and let it limp until I attend the Administration Workshops? I have almost half a million records in the DB but my SQL statements (saved on a different machine) can re-generate all the data in about 1h or so, so it's not a big deal if I wipe everything.

CA.GThe FFP packages are fastformula packages that were invalidated after running the HRGLOBAL driver and will compile normally with adadmin
as for the remaining formulas they will not compile with adadmin for some reason, and you have to open each package and re-compile the packages it refferences even if they are valid.

  • Oracle database performance after server reboot

    hi masters,
this is not some kind of question, but a discussion. some statements come from our client that after weekly reboot of system, the oracle database performance is low for some time and increase after some time(say 2 days).
i think it is but obvious, because at reboot oracle flushes all cache, and temporary space, so it need to re parse the sql statements and perform some disc I/O's so it might need some time and hence performance will degrade.
but at the same time some people claim that after reboot their database performance is better than their normal performance for some days. it seems controversial that's why i am posting it here.
what might be the reason behind this?? prior can have a valid reason of hard parsing, but what with second case??
    any clarification is highly appreciated...
    thank you
    regadrs

    Vikrant,
You should wait for some time buddy, its weekend ;-) .

    >
I would start from saying that checking the performance when the system just started, is a wrong approach. There would be lots of IOs , parsing, calculations(related to memory allocations) happening so there would be a delay/bad performance at that time. Very simple example can be parsing, another can be memory allocation. Oracle doesn't allocate the entire memory in the instance startup that is allocated to the memory areas but allocates just the bare minimum that is needed to start the instance and than after the startup, it keeps on allocating the memory. So surely enough, with the startup and after a while of it, there would be a different performance than that after the instance hsa already been started and the workload informations have started coming up.
Its correct that Oracle would deallocate all the caches with the reboot as the instance is on the memory(physical) and with the reboot , that would be flushed including the SGA which is allocated over it. Temporary tablespace is now not freed with the reboot. I guess its a rather illogical thing to do but that's what is there now. Oracle keeps the segment allocated even after the reboot is issued, hence the reason for larger temporary tablespaces.

    >
This should not come as a surprise once we understand what might be happening with this process. Assume a situation where you have undersized caches. For example, shared pool . which is very heavily used for database , if this is going to be undersized and you are not using automatic memory management, you won't be enjoying the dynamic management of this parameter. Now, if you do lots of parsing , thanks to your wrongly written queries, you would eventually end up filling up shared pool to its max thus leaving no space for incoming new hard parsed cursors. Here , if you can't manage to add more memory to add to it, the only solution left would be to flush the shared pool( as good as rebooting the db because this would do the same) and than make space for the new cursors. The performance is going to be better becausethe cursors would not be getting flushed out immediately and will be kept in the shared pool as long as its not filled up again.Once you have reached to limit of it, again there would be performance benefit. So there are always odds added to the statements like this that I rebuilt my index , I got better, I rebooted my server, my querie are much faster now. Most of the time when these kind of statements are given, they are based on what we have seen, without understading what actually might have happened. So I would siggest to hear the statement but not take them as a rule of thumb to follow.
Hope this all makes some sense for you and would help somewhat.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs) after clone

    Hi,
I have just moved (clone using rapidclone) two of our 11.5.10.2 install from a solaris SPARC 8 to 10 . After the clone, while discoverer 10g works perfectly well in one environment, it is giving the error below in the another environment.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs)
    Notes:
    1. For the 2 environments, nothing as changed apart from the hostnames.
    2. The password has not changed on both - from source to targets.
    3. This happens when launching discoverer 10g from Apps.... discoverer works well on it own if not launched from apps.
I raised a SR with oracle and the 2 things they said have not worked. they said
    1. change signon password case parameter - but I cannot find that in the list of system parameters on our system.
    2. The other note says apply patch 6430269 and I can confirm this patch has been on the system for sometime.
Please advise on this if you have come accross this before and you can help here.
    Thanks

Thanks for your concern. I have used the notes you listed but no luck. One thing I have to point out here is that I have always cloned from solaris 8 to 8 for years without this problem. Now I am cloning from solaris 8 to 10 and the problems is on just one environment. The other is working well. The problem seems to be related to the apps password but the password has not changed at all. Also, I have tried to change the password to something else and ran autoconfig but no luck. Please help

How many invalid objects you have under each schema?
Please see old threads for the invalid objects MOS docs (after R12 upgrade and generic ones).

    hi experts
i m getting there error while checking database in db16. after clicking it its providing corrective action but
i dont know how to do this kindly provide m helps.
BACKUP_TOO_OLD-        Start a complete database backup
LAST_BACKUP_FAILED-   Check the database backup log
Checkpoint not complete-   Increase the size of online redo log files
    LOG_BUFFER-                  Change the Oracle parameter
    19502-                               Check the archive destination
    27072-                               Check the disk
ARCHIVER_STUCK-           Save and delete archive log files
ARCHIVE_TOO_OLD-         Start an archive log backup
    16038-                                Check the archive destination
    thanks

    refer this
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/47/3213b1c1d20c4ee10000000a11466f/content.htm
'BACKUP_TOO_OLD- Start a complete database backup'
read Notes, google, SDN about how to schedule/take backups
    'LAST_BACKUP_FAILED'
it's because that the backup took last time, was failed, you can check return code in the backup logs
    in /oracle/SID/sapbackup directory
    LOG_BUFFER
refer Notes as per your release like this SAP Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle
and then read oracle documentation and sap notes that how to change/update oracle parameters-not difficult
ARCHIVER_STUCK- Save and delete archive log files
ARCHIVE_TOO_OLD- Start an archive log backup
/oracle/SID/oraarch or /oracle/SID/saparch contains oracle redo log files, archiver_stuck means one of these filesystems is full, so you have to run redolog backup as the next warning says that archive_too_old .. read oracle docs and sap docs that how toschedule redolog backups
other things too, check and try to do first and if problem comes, always welcome
