  • Confused in oracle database firewall

    Dear all,
I'm working on lab for oracle database firewall. Document on Oracle database Firewall reading have a lot of limit to understand for configuring.
Anyone can help me in this lab:
    situation of lab:
    - Install oracle database firewall on one machine which have two networkd card, (for monitor only using span port group on switch).
    - For testing, I install local monitor on SQL express 2005 server (script for SQL server), Unfortunately, In this lab document don't give a solution for communicating between SQl server and Database Firewall, How can I configure SQL server to communicate with database firewall,
    thanks anh best regard,

    Hello, user12326737,
I think you should check if you are following these guidelines:
When using a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later database, ensure that the database uses mixed-mode authentication.
Local monitoring uses a source IP address of 0.0.0.0, and port 0, for statements originating from a console user or other process. The destination address (displayed in the traffic log) is the same as one of the protected databases being monitored.
Local monitoring does not record duplicate SQL statements. It only records the last SQL statement in a set of duplicate SQL statements.
Local Monitor does both a forward and reverse DNS lookup to determine if a session is from the local machine. If a DNS configuration is broken and prevents the server from doing the lookup successfully, then the Local Monitor cannot record console events. To ensure that Local Monitor records all local sessions, check that your DNS configuration is correct.
If you do, then tell me.
If you have any questions, ask.

No they cannot send you a document that is available only to those with access to MOS.
That would violate the conditions of having such service contract credentials.
Asking someone to violate such privileges is a serious offense and could get that other person's organization banned from all support and all their support contracts cancelled.
    Your post is locked.
Your duplicate post that you placed into the Audit Vault forum space has been removed (it had no responses).
This thread which you had placed in the Solaris 10 forum space is moved to the Audit Vault forum space.

  • Oracle Database 11gR2 RAC - Configure ASM Libraries on VM

    Folks,
Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC system using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 - Oracle Linux 5.6) on the top of VMPlayer.
I am configuring ASM libraries on rac1 using the command:
    [root@rac1 dev]# oracleasm configure -i
But this message comes up:"Command not found."
I cannot find the directory where "oracleasm" is located. Can any folk help to solve the issue ?
    Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you to take a look at these guides
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/Articles11g.php#db11g_release_2_installations
Many of them are installed in virtual machines.

  • How to configure Oracle database in a failover zone cluster

Setup: Oracle database and zone configured on highly available local filesystems.
    Two node cluster.
Oracle database running inside the zone.
Note: I dont have a zone cluster.
    1. I need to make the zone and the oracle database highly available.
    2. Can I configure the Oracle Data service directly to run in the zone or will it involve creating sczsh_config script to do the same.
I have been going through the guides and searching over the net, but haven't found any help so far. Its so much simpler to configure this environment in Veritas cluster. Hope I find some help here.
    TIA,
    Sudhir

The Oracle Solaris Cluster concepts guide has some information on which zone model to choose:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18728_01/html/821-2682/gcbkf.html#scrolltoc
When managing a Solaris zone with the HA Zones agent, the cluster basically regards the non-global zone as a blackbox.
As such you can either start the Oracle database as part of the runlevel/SMF startup of the non-global zone, or you can use the sczsh or sczsmf component and use your own scripts to start, probe and stop the Oracle database.
Usage of the standard HA Oracle data service is not supported in combination with the HA Zones agent.
If you require a more fine grained control of services running in non-global zones, why not setup a zone cluster and then having HA Oracle failover the Oracle database between non-global zones?

  • How to install database firewall 5.0

I download Oracle Database Firewall 5.0.0 Media Pack v1 for Linux x86 from edelivery, and I readed the document "Installation Guide Release 5.0 E18693-03".
Then I installed oracle enterprise linux 5.4 x86, But I can't find the "Welcome to Enterprise Linux screen" when I login to linux.(page 18 on document)
how to install database firewall 5.0?
    Thanks.

    Hi
The DB Firewall acts as a bridge when using in inline mode. You should not have to change anything on the Client nor on the DB Server. The Client, DB Firewall and DB Server are in the same IP Network but not "physically" connected. This mean's the DB Server is connected with the DB Firewall on one side and the Client with the DB Server on the other side.
I've configured a test environment with VMWare. To have to separated network I created a second host only network with the same IP range. DB Server and on Network Interface of the DBFW is in vmnet2 while Client, DBFirewall Console and second Network Interface is in vmnet1. When the DB Firewall or Bridge is switched off the client can not "see" the DB Server anymore. I've documented my Test Environment at http://www.oradba.ch/2011/04/oracle-database-firewall-test-environment/
I saw a test configuration from Oracle based on Virtualbox. There they used the internal network for the DB Server / DBFW NIC1 and the host only network for the client, DBFW Console and DBFW NIC2.
    1. Why I am not able to see all tabs in DBFW console?
    => no idea.
    2. How to integrate Oracle Database with this Firewall setting?
=> no change on the DB nor on the Client. Setup an enforcement Point to integrate it in the DBFirewal.
    3. Will user access DBFW or DBFW-MS or Database?
=> The do not have to access DBFW unless they want to see the console
    4. What will be the change in the TNS entries on client side?
    => no change
    Cheers
    Stefan

  • Oracle Database 10g R2 on Solaris 10

    Dear all.
Next week I'll have a job which is to install Oracle Database 10g and configure it on Solaris 10 Operating System. I'd like to know if some of you could give some suggestions or best practices (SGA, PGA, Processes, etc.) for that installation. The hardware has 32Gb memory and 4 dual core processors. The O.S. is already prepared to receive Oracle installation.
    Thanks a lot.

    Steve,
Is that the below sentence meant that 10 connections from user A will be considered as one connection by oracle?
As far as oracle is concerned, 10 connections by user 'A' is the same as one connection each by users 'A' through 'J'thanks,
baskar.lNo. It means the load is the same. 10 connections is 10 connections, whether they are all by one user account or by 10 separate user accounts. It's still 10 separate connections and the load is the same and oracle doesn't care.
Try it for yourself. Set up 10 user accounts. Call them USER01 through USER10. Fire up 10 separate sqlplus sessions (you can do this from your windows desktop with 10 separate cmd windows) and log on with a different userid in each one. The query v$sessions. Then go back through your 10 sqlplus sessions and reconnect with the same user name in each - use USER01 in all 10 of the sessions. Then query v$sessions again.
