Oracle Database not open automatically on restarting the server

Hello,
I am using Oracle8i Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production. And OS windows 2000.
I installed oracle 8i. On restarting the server the database is not up automatically.
I check the following services. All are in automatice mode.
ORACLETNSListerner
ORacleserviceSID
Oraclewebassistant.
I tried the following option also.
ORADIM -edit -sid -startmode auto.
still not working.
Anyone please suggest the solution for this.

Do you have any Antivirus installed in that server, sometimes antivirus blocks oracle autostart. try with uninstalling antivirus if it is .

Try as
set oracle_sid=PROD
oradim -edit -sid PROD -startmode auto or
go run=>regedit=>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_OraDb10g_home1\ then edit
ORA_PROD_AUTOSTART set true.
in additionally you have to configure spfile as:
set oracle_sid=PROD
sqlplus "/as sysdba"
create spfile from pfile=c:\oracle\PROD\db\tech_st\10.2.0\Database\initPROD.ora

Safari could not open this page because the server stopped responding

Since upgrading to 4.2 I get this message a lot even though the page loads anyway:
"safari could not open this page because the server stopped responding"

Have you Checked your firewall setting(of both windows and of the Anti Virus).
I was Having the same Problem, and tried everything from the Internet, then i realised that firewall can mess things up and so i immediately TURNED OFF the firewall and restarted my Network and my Ipod ....THE INTERNET WORKED
i am using win vista and McAfee.
want to add few more things:
1> adjusting brightness has nothing to do with Networking.
2> Multiplayer/online games also get into problem due to antivirus firewall(AVG anitvirus specially.....Disabling firewall or setting it to permit the Device/program to access Internet WORKS)
3>to know if the problem is with the Idevice or with the System, try connecting other devices to that netwrk, if non of them connect then its the problem with the System/Network/OS and not with the Device........Resetting you Idevice again and again will not Solve the problem.

Documents not Opening, No connectivity with the server

Morning,
Strange problem we are encountering that seems to be with a specific image build we have of Windows 7 Enterprise x64, with and without Service Pack 1 using IE8 x32 and Office 2010 x64. When we try to open Word, Excel, or specifically PowerPoint documents
on our new SharePoint 2010 server we get the following error: No connectivity with the server.

A "normal" install of Windows 7 Enterprise x64, with no custom configuration (but getting the domain group policies) can view the files on SharePoint 2010, no problems. Unfortunately, we've already deployed the "odd" image out to 50+
machines.
We have tried resetting Internet Explorer, uninstalling Office 2010 x64 and installing Office 2010 x32 with no luck.
What is really going on? Is it a SharePoint plugin that isn't installed? Is it Internet Explorer isn't configured correctly, or has DLLs that aren't registered? Or something with Office 2010? Is there a way to capture more than this
Error Message? This is what pretty much stamps in the Event Viewer too...

This may be related to the Network and Sharing Center stating the computer is not connected to any network, and the Windows Firewall stating it is on a Public Network. Even though the machine is connected and running on the LAN.
I added SERVICE with full control (and pushed it down to registry subkeys) on HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList. Then I Enabled/Disabled the LAN Adapter. Could also reboot, or physically unplug the cable. Not
sure if restarting a specific service would accomplish the same thing or not.
In the Network and Sharing Center it came up as on the domain. Windows Firewall came up as being on a Domain. And I was able to open PowerPoint and Excel documents on the SharePoint site.
So for now, looks like this is fixed.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Database not Open, My system restarted and hanged

Hi All
I have installed Oracle 9i DBA in my company windows 2000 professional work station. I created a database , called TEST.
I can able to mount the database.
while in the OPEN state my system is hanged and rebooted automatically.
The RAM size is 256 MB. Sufficient space are avaialable.
Please guide me to solve this issue. Thanks for your support

Temporary Tablespace not shrinking automatically after restarting the DB.

I had a Database with 2GB tempfile. It gave me an error that it's unable to extend the temporary segment. I added a new tempfile of 500MB. Within a few min the new file was filled. In process of shrinking the temporary files, I shutdown the DB, and restarted it. But the Tempfiles were still filled to the max. I still don't understand why? Then I attached a new tempfile of 1GB to the Temp Tablespace, but it didn't use the new tempfile. I repeated the restart process again but still the output was same.
1. Both datafiles were filled to the max
2. It didn't use the new (3rd) attached tempfile.
Finally I've created a new tablespace with new Tempfiles, and it's working now. But I'm still confused. Please suggest me with the possibilities. How can i shrink the Temporary Tablespace/Tempfiles.

It all depends from what you understand by shrinking:
If you would like to shrink tempfile for tablespace I would suggest using following procedure:
Find out to which size you can shrink tempfile
select extent_size,current_users,total_extents,used_extents,free_extents
from v$sort_segment
where tablespace_name='TEMP';
alter database tempfile 'XXXX' resize YYM;
YY is the size which can be found by above query.
But Ithink you are more interested in following procedure:
create new
make this new one the default temporary tablespace for the database
drop old
ps. Yoogesh ask you about DB version
you can find bd version by:
select *
from v$version
select *
from product_component_version

it says oracle not available and i have to open the database manually at sql prompt.
How can i make the database to open automatically?

Check your Services in Control Panel. Click on the "Logon" Tab for the Oracle Service and make sure that "This Account" is selected and not "Local Account". When you choose "This Account", you should type in the Administrator username/pwd. who can start the service.

Are all three libraries under your account or are they in different accounts? Any other errros on the system?

If you hold down the option key while in dashboard you can close many of the programs.
To disable it from opening automatically, or unintentionally:
1) go to System preferences -> mission control.
2) Deselect any mouse shortcuts
3) Remove it from hot corners, if it is active.
