Oracle Database Release 1 (10.1.0.5.0) for solaris 10

Hi can anyone tell me where to download Oracle Database Release 1 (10.1.0.5.0) for solaris 10? Thanks in advance.

10gR1 is no longer supported - you will either need to open an SR with Support and ask them to ship you the media (assuming you have a valid license and a support contract) or see if you can download from http://edelivery.oracle.com. In either case, you will most likely get the base version of 10gR1 and you will need to patch it up to 10.1.0.5. The patch is only available in My Oracle Support. Is there a reason you need such an old version of the software ?

  • Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2

    Hi
I am upgrading oracle 10G to 11GR2 in AIX 5.3 Environment with SAP ECC6 , I have just just installled Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 according to the "Database Upgrade Guide -Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2): UNIX". After database software installation , in upgrade manual in section 3.4.4 it says, you need to install current patch set for oracle database 11g R2 and referencing a SAP note 1431799.
I have just read note 1431799 which says Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2 is not generally available for SAP customers until December 2010, also I donu2019t find the note 1522330 as mentioned in 1431799.
Please let me know how I can get current patch set to apply with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (Is it in SAP service market place?)
I also want to upgrade my installation to oracle 11.2.0.2, please let me know where I get the patch set to upgrade from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.2,
    or
I have to live with 11.2.0.1.0 and apply SAP Bundle Patch ( SBP)

    Abu Al MAmun,
I understand from your posts that you recently upgraded to 11.2.0.2.
I am having the same difficulty, of finding the current patch set for 11.2. Could you please let me know how you worked around it?
    Thanks,
    Siri
    Hello Everyone,
I did read the post on to how you have to install the current patch set for 11.2.
But honestly, it pretty much flew over my head.
I am trying to upgrade our SAP AIX 64 bit test system from Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2.
And so far I have downloaded all the required sw for the upgrade, except for the current patch set 11.2.
This is what I have right now:
    1) Oracle 11.2 AIX 64 bit upgrade sw - 51038805_part 1 to 51038805_part 7 and 51039800.
    2) Database Patches -->Oracle 11.2.0.2 -->
    All they have here is
    a. Database RDMBS - SAP_112020_201012_AIX.zip and b. SAP_112020_201101_AIX.zip
    b. OPatch - OPatch_11201_Generic_v3.zip and mopatch-2_1_6.zip
    c. Database Vault - DV - >Generic - p9656644_112020_Generic.zip
If I am not wrong, the Database RDBMS files are nothing but the SAP Bundle Patches that have to be installed after installing the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2 using MOPatch.
But I did not find the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2.
Could someone please explain the process to me in detail? This being my first time , I am finding it a bit hard to catch up with some of the stuff.
    Thank You!
    Siri

  • Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/

    Hi,
Ive just been trying to download your Oracle9i Database Release Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP for my home computer, but it wont even download properly. The Disk 1 file, "92010NT_Disk1.zip", intializes, and downloads in less than a second, saying all 67.7kb is complete, taking into consideration the file is over 600mb big. When i open the *.zip file, its absolutely empty. I tried the links for Disk 2 and Disk 3, and they are working perfectley.
    Whats going on?
Is there a bug on my side, or OTN's?
    Will this be fixed soon?
Or should i download an older version?
A little feed back would be grately appreciated, due to the fact i cant find the latest version of Oracle anywhere else on the World Wide Web.
    Thank you for your time.
    - File: 92010NT_Disk1.zip
    - Date/Time: 03/09/02 11:30PM
    - Internet Browser: IE 6.0.2600.0000
    - O/S: Windows 2000
PS: Your "Preview" Button didnt seem to work for me either.

    Hi Peter,
I downloaded the same zip files as you did for my home pc. The first zip file was not able to be unzipped by winzip. So I had to download the fisrt zip file again from OTN and the second time it was fine. I got all three zip files extracted and ran the setup.exe. Everything was fine till this point.
My problem is that Oracle 9i release 2 personal edition is not for XP home edition. I couldn't get the database correctly configured.

  • Oracle Database releases and versioning

After trying to install Database 10g on multiple platforms, I have a few questions that I hope someone won't mind answering:
    - Why is the syntax for key binary commands so different between one release of a single version? For example: primary emca commands that worked for 10g R1 have a completely different syntax for R2, and many R1 commands no longer work at all.
    - In looking at the download list for 10g R2, it seems that only version 10.2.0.1 is available for common server platforms, while more recently updated versions are available solely for proprietary platforms (10.2.0.2 for HP, Solaris, zLinux), and the very latest version (10.2.0.3) is available only for Windows Vista. This seems counter-intuitive: are more people running Oracle on proprietary server platforms than on Linux systems? And, even more interesting: is anyone running production-grade databases on Windows Vista?

    - Why is the syntax for key binary commands so
different between one release of a single version?
For example: primary emca commands that
worked for 10g R1 have a completely different syntax
for R2, and many R1 commands no longer work at all. Each release introduces major supplementary feature revisions while leaving the baseline features in the database unchanged.
emca is one of the supplementary features that was introduced in 10g R1 that needed enhancement. Hence the changes.
Oracle traditionally had been careful to maintain forward compatible syntax. It seems they were not quite as careful with emca.

seems that only version 10.2.0.1 is available for

    interesting: is anyone running production-grade
databases on Windows Vista?Oracle will only upload the first operational version of a release. Eg: 10.2.0.1 should have been the only release on OTN.
However, there were some platform specific patches that were required to make the 'proprietary' versions install or work at all. Rather than back-port the patches to 10.2.01., Oracle decided to load 10.2.0.2 for those.
When Microsoft released their latest proprietary operating system, Vista, ages after Oracle released 10.2.0.1 for Windows, Oracle was caught between a rock and a hard place: do they backport the stuff needed to compensate for the Vista changes or do they simply roll up the latest stuff and release that. I'd guess they decided that, since Vista is a desktop OS and only a few limited shops would use a desktop OS instead of a server OS in production,m it probably would be safe to release the latest rollup.
Personally, I do not run any production grade databases on desktop platforms. Linux, Unix (mainly ) and Widows 2003 Server.

    Hi,
I have the same problem but, how can i know what my SID is ? i am trying with "ORCL" and it doesnt work.
Do you know in which file i can get it ? in the documentation of the installation i found this:
"If you are not sure of the values to enter for the URL, then you can query the data dictionary to obtain these values.
Connect as SYSTEM and run the following queries.

  • Oracle Database 10g(10.2.0.1.0) for Windows server 2008 SP1

    Hi,
I would like to install Oracle database 10g on Windows server 2008 SP1. What is the supported version ?
As I go through certification matrix on Oracle support, 10.2.0.5.0 is supported on Windows Server 2008, however I can I install it directly.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks srini for your reply.
Currently, we are running a lower version of database i.e 10.2.0.1.0 on windows server 2003. I need to migrate theses servers into virtual environment running Windows server 2008 64 bit.
The document you referred applies to MS Windows 32 bit. However, I see that Oracle Database and Oracle Database Client 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.5) for Windows x64 are supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15680/toc.htm#CHDFHIEA
From where, can we download the older versions of Oracle database as it is not available on OTN (The version of Oracle Database you are looking for is no longer available on OTN. Please visit any of the following links for current release information).
Looking ahead for the right direction

The setup.exe usually takes a while to start the Oracle Universal Installer, it depends upon the machine speed and capacity. Wait for more time and see if it starts. Check if your machine/os meets the system requirement.

I need to install Oracle Database 9.2.0.2.0 on W2K (32 bit). Is such a version available for W2k? Please help. I have Oracle 9.2.0.1.0. If 9.2.0.2.0 for W2k (32 bit) has not been released by Oracle, can I later upgrade my 9.2.0.1.0 to 9.2.0.2.0?

You can download patch sets from Metalink - the latest brings Database up to v9.2.0.4.

  • Can i use "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning " training for getting certification on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054"

i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?

I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents).  BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
.... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
    - This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.
    - Confirmation from Brandye
    - Confirmation from an Oracle Certification Support Web Ticket ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP )
... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054.  I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training  and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version.  ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts.

  • Oracle Database Migration Verifier - Can it be used for diff table structur

    Hello,
We have re-engineered the existing sybase tables to a new structure in Oracle for few of the tables. For example a table in sybase is normalized to two tables in oracle. In these cases can the "Oracle Database Migration Verifier" be mapped such that the columns in one table in sybase be mapped to two table is Oracle with their respective column names.
In a gist can the tool be used even if the structure is not the same in the source and targer databases.
Please let me know if you need more clarifications regarding my query.
    Regards,
    Ramanathan.K

not really. The DMV was a simple tool for verifiying that what you now had in Oracle was what you had in Sybase. It does not do what you are expecting.

  • Do I need to install Oracle database 12c on PC to create tables for Weblogic server

    Hi,
I am new to WebLogic and I am following a book Java EE Development
with Eclipse published by PACKT Publishing to learn  Java EE.  I have installed Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse
on the PC and I am able to log into the WebLogic Server
Administration Console and set up a Data Source.  However the next step is to create
tables for the database.  The book says that the tables can be
created using SQL script run from the SQL command line.
I cannot see any way of inputting SQL script into the WebLogic
Server Admistration Console.  Aslo there is no SQL Command line
    in DOS.
I have put a previous question on the Oracle Forum about the above and I  was advised to use SQL Plus
to create the tables for the weblogic server but no mention was made of installing Oracle database.
I have downloaded InstantClient SQL Plus and Instantclient Basic on a PC and
put the files into the same directory C:\SQLPlus but now I am having a problem in that it is
looking for a username and password when I run the sqlplus.exe file.
Now I assume that I need to have an installation of Oracle databse on the
PC so as to be able to use SQL Plus.  Am I correct in this or can I create tables for the
datasource in weblogic without an Oracle database?
Thanks in advance for your help. Brian

You should install it separately and also need to change the OBIEE's user.sh to tell it where is your Oracle client installed.

  • A question about focus or trend in oracle database releases

    Hi,
I have a question on what is the focus or trend at a high level that can be seen in the way oracle has been delivering the data base. Among several things what can be summarized as a few technical focus areas. Can someone help? I think they are the following:
    1) Focus on high availability (RAC,Data Guard)
    2) Providing more and more features in the database (including oracle apex in database, regular expression support etc)
    3) Exadata
    4) Better managability with OEM
Can you help elaborate or suggest if this is appropriate?

ThanksI would echo what Sybrand has mentioned already. The way things are going , the focus is on two things IMO by Oracle. One, High Availability! Oracle corp wants to ensure with every upcoming release that the downtime , either planned or unplanned, must come down to its minimum value and there should not be almost anythign which would stop the business. There are tons of enhancements which we have seen in this manner and I am sure, there are going to be so many more upcoming.
Second is the need to ensure that database is not messed up by the human mistakes (and is going to be unavailable) . So that's why we are seeing more and more automated ways of handling/doing things. Now someone may say that its bad but I believe, it would take some time before it would be streamlined. It took 30 years for Oracle to come here so we shouldn't expect them to fix the automated database thingy in just two releases. Also, Oracle is focussing of giving a one-box-solution for almost all. So whatever you need, hardware, software, application and of course, database, you would get it all from one shop i.e. Oracle. The Exadata and Oracle's Enterprise Linux are going to be big helping factors in this thing.
