Oracle Database Standard One

Hi,
I know HTMLDB is included in Oracle Database Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition. I would like to know if the same applies for Oracle Database Standard One?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Patrick

Patrick,
HTML DB is supported in Standard One, Standard and Enterprise Editions of the Oracle Database.
Thanks,

  • Oracle Database Standard Edition One's Cost

    Dear all
I am very interest on the Oracle Database Standard Edition One, (US$149 per user (minimum five users)) includes the functionality and the cost (only US$ 149*5). However, I would like to know that is there any hidden cost for it? (e.g. maintaince fee etc.) Meanwhile, is there any backward compatible for the such license (i.e. I buy 10g version but use 8/8i version in production)
Anyone can has such experience and share for it?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

There is generally a lot of confusion around Standard Editoin One. Here is my understanding, along with rationale and links supporting my understanding.
    1) Standard Edition One was NOT part of Oracle8i, and NOT part of Oracle9i release 1.
Oracle's "Oracle9i Family of products" document, released shortly after 9iR1, does not mention SE1. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle9i/pdf/o9i_family_features.pdf
    2) Standard Edition One MAY be part of Oracle9i Release 2 family, but it's not likely.
On metalink, there are a few 'forum' documents that discuss SE1 and Oracle9i. However, document #530049.994 from forum thread "Is Standard Edition One available in 9i/9ir2", dated 05-OCT-2004 says SE1 is a 10g new thing. (This post should be available in these forums.)
    3) No-one purchasing a new license should be installing a fresh copy of Oracle8i and probably not Oracle9i
You purchase the license primarily to obtain (be able to purchase) support. Oracle8i is no longer under support (except through an exorbitantly priced extended support contract) and Oracle9i is abount to be mved to extended support. The question is ... why?
    4) Personal Edition is NOT being replaced by SE1.
The Standard Edition One is a subset of Standard Edition - mainly missing RAC, so it is limited to one machine only. From the Oracle Database 10g Licensing document we note that the Personal Edition provides ALL FEATURES AND OPTIONS of the Enterprise Edition, except RAC.
It is fairly obvious from this that Personal Edition is targetted at developers who need metalink access, whereas Standard Edition One is targetted at workgroups that would consider using SQL Server STabdard/Workgroup Edition.

  • Does Oracle Database Standard Edition One 10.2 has HTML DB ?

    RDBMS Version: 10.2
Operating System and Version: Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 3
Does Oracle Database Standard Edition One has HTML DB ?
    Hi,
My company plans to buy Oracle Database Standard Edition One for a small project. Does this have HTML DB option ?
    Please advice,
    Thx,

    According to the documentation:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/Oracle_HTML_DB_2.0_Data_Sheet.pdf
Oracle HTML DB is a standard feature of Oracle Database 10g, available in Standard One, Standard and Enterprise Edition at no additional charge.

  • Oracle Database Standard Edition One

I have several Microsoft Access databases (ugh) that thankfully will be shelved to be replaced with Oracle products. I plan on getting Oracle Database SE One because that best fits my #users/#processors. In shopping for the best products to fit my needs, I'm finding it is not exactly intuitive what product I should get?
I will need a front end, accessible on-line (secure connection) as similar to Access' VBA forms, and reports.
I've seen Oracle Programmer, Oracle Internet Developer, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Forms, and countless other products, and I am just not sure what it is I want?
Thanks in advance for your time.

You may want to consider HTML DB, which comes bundled with the Oracle database. It is positioned as a way to get lots of smaller-scale applications into Oracle, which is generally what you have when dealing with Access databases. Plus, you don't need to buy anything beyond the database. If you have seen http://asktom.oracle.com, that was built with HTML DB.
An excellent HTML DB resource page is available at http://htmldb.oracle.com
There are a number of HOW-TO documents for HTML DB here:

  • Oracle 10g Standard One

I want to clear out some issue abt Oracle 10g Standard One and Partitioning. On the internet I have found that one of the Oracle Enterprise Edition Features not available in Oracle Standard Edition One is:
Oracle partitioning - For database over 100 gigabytes
Can someone confirm this? Does it actually mean that there is actually PARTITIONING in Oracle10g Standard One if the database is less than 100GB ?
    thanks

I don't believe partitioning is available in the standard edition (or in Standard Edition One). The comment you refer to is likely explaining the sort of databases that might benefit from partitioning-- there aren't a lot of folks that would want to partition database tables if the database was only a few GB in size.

  • Two Oracle databases on one AIX Server - Note working, Pls Help

    Dear Friends,
I have installed Two SAP systems with Two Oracle Databases on one AIX machine, The Installation of both the systems went fine without any errors, and also i have been able to login to both the systems seperately. (that means i cant start both the systems at a time, its one at a time)
But the problem is of the Oracle Listener, i am not able to start both the systems with single Oracle Listener processes(tnslistener). I tried all the possible scenarios as mentioned in note 98252 but nothing seems to be of any use so far.
the thing is i can start either one of the SAP Systems, But my objective is to start both the SAP Systems with one listener processes (LISTENER) and one listener port (1527)
    Or
you can say i am also ready to keep two different listeners for TWO seperate Oracle databases, I tried doing so as per one of the sap notes in which you have to keep different names of listener and different numbers for listener port for second ORACLE database. I tried doing exactly mentioned in the note but yet unsuccessful...
Now i am completely lost as what is to be done since its critical i want you to immediately look into it and suggest me the appropriate solution so that i can set up both of my DEVELOPMENT and QUALITY system running...
To troubleshoot this if you require anything from my side then please feel free to ask me since our functional consultants have to soon start working on the SAP systems.
    Regards
    Ayush

The note you specified talk about 2 database instances not 2 databases... (I was starting to wonder how you deploy 2 databases), you can have multiple database instances on a DB. The note also give you detailed explanation of the configuration of listener.ora
Now, if this is the case and you have installed 2 instances (not databases) on the same host and configured the listener according to the note, then you should be able to call R3trans -d from both SID's.. if the R3trans fails please post the contents of trans.log here.
the thing is i can start either one of the SAP Systems, But my objective is to start both the SAP Systems with one listener processes (LISTENER) and one listener port (1527)
Then, the configuration of your listener.ora file must be incorrect.

  • Database Web Services and OC4J in Oracle Database Standard Edition

    Hi all,
Oracle Database Standard Edition has database web services, which require OC4J if the database is to be used as web service provider. So, can OC4J be used in production with Oracle Database Standard Edition?
Thank you for this clarification :)
    Mitko

    Yes. :)

  • Oracle DB Standard One

    Hello,
Need information on the Oracle DB Standard One installation.
I have installed Oracle 10g r2 Standard verion on HP unix IA OS.
Our customer has licence for Standard One.
Please help me to clear my doubt, is Standard Edition installation is ok for
    Standard One ?
    Best Regards,
    Deep

    (See caveat at end)
There is no difference between the Standard and Standard One install. Indeed, the Standard One does not appear on the install menu.
Standard One is more of a license issue - the way I like to understand it: it is Standard with the restriction that you will not use the RAC part, and you will llimit it to 2 CPU. Read other limitations in the Licensing doc at http://tahiti.oracle.com
As always, with licensing, the only real source of information is Oracle itself. Contact your favorite Oracle Sales team for a document describing the rules and limitations. Remember that in a legal situation, a judge would not be happy with an answer "I read it on the internet" or "I heard it happened to a friend of a friend of mine"

  • Performance Tab in OEM   ( Oracle database Standard Edition )

We have Oracle database 11g ( Standard edition ONE).
We have installed OEM (oracle enterprise manager) with database installation.
We are not able to access the PERFORMANCE tab in OEM.
    1) Is it because Performance tab cannot be seen in Standard Edition ONE version ?
    2) When I tried to setup the control_management packaccess parameter in SPFILE, its failing . Is it because
    of the database edition ?
    3) Any work around in Standard Edition ONE to make the performance tab and tuning pack available with licensing ?

Pl identify which specific version of 11g.

  • How to install two oracle database on one system

i want to install two oracle databases on single system how it is possible
how i can manager oracle home and is this possible to install two different version of oracle in single home or single system forexample oracle 9 and oracle 8 .
    A.R

    Hi,
yes, u can have more databases on a single machine and they can be of different versions.
You have to use and initialize the correct ORACLE_HOME to create the DB of the version U use.
For ex, u have 2 homes:
    C:\Oracle\Ora817 8i home and C:\Oracle\ora920 9i home
Normally, using OFA, imagine that You want create 2 db, TEST_8I for 8i home and TEST_9I for the 9i home, You shold have:
    C:\Oracle\Admin\TEST_8I\<<OFA DIRS>> and C:\Oracle\Oradata\TEST_8I for 8i DB adn C:\Oracle\Admin\TEST_9I\<<OFA DIRS>> and C:\Oracle\Oradata\TEST_9I for the 9i version.
It is important, when You create the DB, that u use the executables of C:\Oracle\Ora817\bin to create 8i db and C:\Oracle\Ora920\bin for the 9i one.
Then U can use the 9i listener to manage both instances
    Hope this helps

  • How to connect to an Oracle database on one machine from another client machine?

I installed oracle database 11g (server and client) on one machine. It works perfectly. Then I installed oracle client (ODTwithODAC1120320) in another machine. • Oracle Database Standard Edition feature

    Dear all,
I need your guy expertise to confirm whether oracle database SE can support below feature. thank
    Monitoring and Tuning the Database
    Self-Monitoring Architecture
    Automatic Workload Repository
Using the Automatic Database Diagnostics Monitor (ADDM)
    Monitoring and Tuning Usage Model.
    Setting Up Notification Rules
    Database Archiving
    regard
    william

You need to check the licensing guide on tahiti.oracle.com for the right Oracle version: example for 10g release 2:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#BABJFHED
Some of the features you are quoting are difficult to check because they are not exactly named this way in the licensing guide.
For example Monitoring and Tuning the Database is not precise enough.
AWR and ADDM need Tuning Pack or Diagnostic Pack which are only available with Entreprise Edition.

  • Is it possible to install two Oracle Databases on one host?

I got installed Oracle 10.1.0.3.0 on my host (OS: Linux CentOS 5 64-bit) and there is need to install another one on the same host. Additional database is supposed to be started up and shutted down once per a day for a couple of hours.
    Is this configuration possible?
    Thanks in advance

It is possible to have N database instances running on one box. They can also be running on the same or different $ORACLE_HOMEs.
If you are using the same ORACLE_HOME for all your databases, be sure to change your ORACLE_SID to point to the correct SID.
DBCA can help you create different databases from the current ORACLE_HOME

  • Moving the HFM Oracle Database from One Server to Another

Our Oracle DBAs have requested that our HFM Oracle db in TEST be moved to another server. When we tried this in our DEV environment, we had major issues afterwards and some of the software needed to be re-installed. Does anyone have any recommendations on how what we need to do on the Hyperion side prior and post db move to make the transition smooth? In addition to HFM, we have Essbase, Planning, Workspace, Interactive Reporting, Financial Reporting and Web Analytics.
    Thanks.
    Terri Taylor

If all of the database files, including the binaries, are on a SAN you might be able to...
    1. Cold backup of everything - database files and binaries.
    2. Dismount the SAN volumes from the old server.
    3. Mount the SAN volumes to the new server - using the same mount points.
    4. Start up the database on the new server.
If the OS version/release are the same between new and old, that should be about all you need to do.
If the OS is same but upgraded to new version/release you will want to relink the Oracle executables before starting up.
