Oracle DB for Windows 2003???

Who can tell me which versions of Oracle 9i and 10g can run on Windows 2003?
From the software description, it seems that 9.2.0.1 does not work on Windows 2003 64-bit???

Yes Clary, you need to Install Oracle software 9.2.0.1.0 first on win 2003 and then install the patch-set 9.2.0.3.
Your Universal Installer bust be at least Installer 2.2.0.18.0.
check the installation documents first.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.3 Full Client for Windows 2003 32bit

    Hello,
I know this is a stupid question, but I cannot seem to find the download for the full client for 10.2.0.3 for Windows 2003 32bit server. I have found the instant client, but not the full client.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Zekmoe,
do you have the PATCHES tab in Metalink (metalink.oracle.com)?
If not, please check your PROFILE in metalink - if PATCHES and UPDATES says: NO, then please contact your administrator (mentioned also in your PROFILE) to enable the patch download.
If you'll have the PATCHES tab then go to QUICK LINKS in the patch screen and choose Windows 32bit and 10.2.0.3
Hope this helps - kind regards

  • Where can I get Oracle database server 9i for windows 2003

    Hi,
I need Oracle Database Server 9i for Windows 2003. From Oracle online download, there is one a patch set available. Where can I get the full version?
    Thanks
    Laura

Hi, I found the solution. There is no software to direcly install Oracle 9i on Windows 2003. I need to install the software for NT/2000 first, the patch it.
That's why there is only patchset for 2003 for downloading. See the doc below:
three installation components required to install
Oracle9i Database release 2 (9.2.0.3.0) on Windows Server 2003. These three
installation components must be installed in the order listed. If you are
migrating a pre-existing Oracle9i database to Windows Server 2003, first
upgrade the database to the Oracle9i Database release 2 (9.2.0.3.0) patch set
    before upgrading the operating system.
    Obtain the following installation components:
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for Windows
Oracle Universal Installer release 2.2.0.18.0 for Windows
Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0.3.0) Patch Set for Windows

  • Connect from Windows Client to Oracle 10g for Windows 64-bit

Have an environment currently running Oracle 10g 32-bit on Windows 2000 Standard, and need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-bit for Windows. Users connect to the 10g 32-bit database using the Oracle Client for Windows 10g loaded on remote PC's. If we migrate to the Oracle 10g 64-bit on Windows 2003 Server Enteprise Edition 64-bit, what type of client do I have to install on the PC's to access the Oracle 10g 64-bit database?
Any ehlp/insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Eduardo in Michigan

In addition to install 32-bit Oracle client to 32-bit Windows OS, you need to know whether your application is compiled to run in 32-bit or 64-bit.
This is critical because 32-bit application can not see 64-bit Oracle ODBC and OLE DB provider.
For example, MS SQL Server 2005 uses 32-bit DTS, and SSIS, which needs 32-bit Oracle client
If you don't know, get a copy of both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, and try one-by-one to know for sure. Please be aware that if regsvr32.exe in the Windows has been overwritten by older software installation, it won't register some DLL properly, and Oracle ODBC, or OLE DB won't show up as well

  • Install Oracle VM on WIndows 2003 Sevser/XP/Vista

Has any one successfully installed Oracle VM on WIndows 2003 Server or XP or Vista?
Is it possible to migrate an exisitng Oracle Express Edition database to Oracle VM? Or the Oracle Express Edition has to be installed on Oracle VM on one platform before it is portable to another machine/server.
Is there any viewlet on how to use Oracle VM?

To answer your first question: Oracle VM Server can NOT be installed on Windows.
    From the OVM-FAQ:
Does Oracle VM require a host operating system?
No. Oracle VM installs directly on server hardware and does not require a host operating system.
This applies to the VM Server. For the VM Manager:
The Oracle VM Manager works on the operating system Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 Update 5 or later.
FYI - these servers are all Linux-based.
You might check the documentation in the "Virtualization Technology Center": http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/virtualization/index.html to find some more answers.

  • Cant install oracle 8i in windows 2003 server

    hi,
I am a newbie in Oracle. While Im trying to install Oracle 8i in Windows 2003 server , setup is not running. It didn't show anything. When trying to run from auto run, after splash screen nothing came.I formatted hard disk, changed two more hard disks,.changed machine...but cant install it in no way... It is the same case in Windows XP home edition.
But it is running in one of my friend's machine(windows 2003 server)
Please help me with valuable solutions.
    Thanks in advance

Did your friend install on W2003 or upgrade from an older version of the OS?
When trying to run programs on an OS that is not certified for the programs, it is hit-n-miss whether the OS actually has the support files needed for the programs.
Think about this: the Oracle environment needs OS support in the form of DLLs and other files. The contents of the DLLs are made visible as APIs. Each time Microsoft releases patches, it is possible that the APIs that Oracle used are changed. This is extremely true when a new version of the OS is released, and even more true with stripped versions such as XP Home.
If your friend installed and then applied patches, [s]he may have hit the proper API combination. If you appled patches first, you may have skootched your APIs to the point that Oracle can not longer install.
Even if you happen to get it installed, you run the risk of getting clobbered any time you install a new Microsoft patch. The risk is minimized when you use a certified combination of the OS and application.

  • 9.2 CDs for Windows 2003 - 32-bit

I just received the Oracle 9i installation CDs from the Oracle Store.
The front of the box says "Oracle9i Database Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) CD Pack for Microsoft Windows".
When I look at the back of the box it says:
"The 64-bit database is included in this CD pack. The 32-bit database requires an additional software upgrade that is available from the Oracle Technology Network"
Why doesn't the CD pack come with the 32-bit version? When I ordered the CDs there was no option for the 32 or 64 bit, it was just for Windows. Where do I get the software I need, it doesn't appear to be available for download either???

We have a problem of installing oracle 9i database on windows 2003 . The CD shipped has 32 bit verison & 64 bit version. The CD has release 9.2.0.1 .
Since we have 32 bit hardware, we are trying to install the software using CD containing CD which has 32 version code.
However when Universal installer tries to gather information on how many packages are there for installation from 1st CD , @around 40 % the process stops & nothing takes place...Any idea what to do next..?
Is this to do with java support on win2k3 or different oracle relase on windows 2003 is required.

  • Oracle 10g On Windows 2003

    Hello All,
I have limited knowledge/experience with ORACLE and like your comments/feedback on following:
We plan to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2003.
    Question:
    1) Oracle 10G Standard Edition limitation on Memory/CPU
    2) To setup a Stand-by database server do we need Oracle Enterprise Edition?
    3) We plan to have 8.0 GB memory on Windows 2003 server, is the Oracle SE capable of using up to 8.0 GB of memory
    4) Last but not least any idea/suggestion on best practices for Oracle 10g on Windows 2003
I know some of the questions are not clear but hope to get some answers.
    Much Appreciated!
    Kamal Hassan

    3) We plan to have 8.0 GB memory on Windows 2003
server, is the Oracle SE capable of using up to 8.0 GB of memoryTo start with, does your combination of hardware and operating system provide the ability for Oracle to use the amount of memory? (you need to know what hardware architecture and edition of Windows)
About the Std Edition being capable or no, in matter of license terms... I believe there is no direct memory limitation. However the license constrains the server hardware maximum capacity (number of "processors"), which perhaps could limit the size of RAM indirectly.
I forgot to mention, that, depending on your choice of platform/os and of course your apps, you may need to consider whether to run 32 or 64-bit Oracle.
Is the plan to run one big or many small (memory-wise) Oracle instances?

As far as I can tell there doesn't appear to be an Oracle10g download for
10.2.0.4 for Windows 2003 Server. It looks like you have to download 10.2.0.1
for Windows then apply the patch to bring it up to 10.2.0.4.
Am I seeing this correctly or am I missing something?
    >
Indeed you are; your eyes are definitely not lying to you. 10.2.0.4 is a patchset which can only be applied to an already existing Oracle Home.
You might want to try and understand a little bit more about what the 10.2.0.4 means by accessing the links below.
