Hi Xaheer,
Thanks for the response.
Address given is right. I have already received some communications from oracle like invoice in the same address.
its been more than 7 days i mailed '[email protected]'.
it would be better if i can know the status?
thanks,
IrshadAt the end of thread {thread:ID=2172277} Certification Forum Moderator indicated that there seems to have been a delay in success kits recently.
This probably results in ocp-fulfillment_ww being swamped with emails (I believe ocp fulfillment is in Delhi and I suspect they will feel like they are in the monsoon season deluged with emails from the rest of India).
Oracle could hire more poeple to answer the emails quicker and increase the exam costs.
It also happens they when Oracle says success kit shipped its likely most people think most people mean the success kit has been posted. I suspect it actually means an order has been placed to the printers/assemblers to generate a success kit (Letter, certificate, credit card); and it probably takes a little while for a batch to be assembled and sent out.
You are very close to the 6/8 week limit that Oracle Target for succss kit delivery, and most likely it will arrive in the next couple of weeks. However of course sometimes post goes missing. The Certification Forum Moderator will probably reply on a couple of days on this one.

I am newbie .I would like to know a good book for Oracle 11g OCA certification ,1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052(with lesser number of mistakes).Appreciate a response.

I can tell you from personal experience that it is extraordinarily difficult to write a technical book with zero defects. Spell-checkers and grammar checkers produce huge numbers of false positives when looking for standard (i.e. non technical) errors. Technical errors are easy to introduce -- forget to add a 'Not' in a sentence, or something similar -- and hard to detect afterward. When I read through my study guides looking for errors, I tend to see what I meant to write.
That said, such defects are normally a tiny fraction of the information contained within certification manuals. A couple of reviews on the Oracle Press 1Z0-052 book written by John Watson mention a couple of errors and then imply the book is filled with more. I've read the book and it is very informative. It contains hundreds of pieces of information and contains about ten errors -- all mentioned in the errata on the McGraw Hill site. The books is good preparation for the text and for learning the basics of being an Oracle DBA.
As Aman indicated, using more than one source is a good way to help to detect inaccuracies. I believe in always using multiple sources and the documentation is generally a good option for that.

  • Study material for Oracle 10g OCA certification

    Hi every one.
My Name is Ash living in Edmonton Canada.
Currently, I am trying to prepare to take the OCA exam. My study material is "OCA 10g Administration 1 Study Guide by Chip DaWes, Bob Bryta, Joseph C.Johnson, Mathew Welshan". I am not sure if this is the right study material. Could any body please give me a feed back, how I can prepare for the exam? Also I would to know if there a local oracle group in Edmonton vicinity

    Hello Ash,
I am also enrolled in an OCA course in the beginning of June 08, and I have used that, the Oracle Database 10g : Administration Workshop 1, and purchased the pass4sure CD.
I recommend against the pass4sure, only because the PDF's had some sort of security lock, and I was unable to open them, even though I legitimately purchased the product.
    Good luck!
    John

  • Oracle 10G OCA certification details?

    Hi,
I would like to get the below details regarding 10g OCA?
    1) Total papers to become an OCA?
    2) wat are the papers ?
    3) Cost of each papers ? (in $)
    4) where can I find Dumps? If you friends can send me dumps at my gmail Id (nahar.navin@gmail ID)...
I am new to this forum, so any advise will help me. :)
Looking forward for help from you people.
    Thanks in advance,
    Navin

Asking for dumpsAnd remember that cheaters who are caught will lose their certification and perhaps lose their chance at any certification in the industry. Using Brain Dumps is considered cheating. Using Gunners is considered cheating. Passing an exam based on purely memorized material without understanding the material is as bad as cheating in the long run.

My rule of thumb is the higher the better.  So on that basis go for 12c rather than 11g.  And your certification will remain active for longer.
However to get to DBA OCP level you will need to submit an approved authorised training course at some point.  So its best to plan for that early.  If you get your training paid for no problem. If you have to have cheap 11g WDP training nearby or you already have a course which is accepted for 11g then that is valid reasons to to go for 11g.
Anyway if you study for your SQL exam first it's not a decision you have to make right away.
The are my personal opinions only.
.... Its also worth mentioning the 1z0-0[56]3 exam for OCP is a lot about backups ..... and from your background to get into DBA work that could be a critical dealbreaker.
.... And its also worth mentioning one or two of the exams satisfying the 12c approved list are 2 day courses and therefore (relatively) cheaper.

  • Oracle9i/Oracle 10g OCA certification

I have worked on Oracle 9i database and i have basic knowledge about Sql commands and i am planning to go for Oracle 10g Certification does it make any difference if i do not take ORACLE 9i Certification and directly go on to do my Oracle 10g Certification .
    Help Me

You are very much eligible for writing Oracle 10g OCP, even if you have experience in Oracle 9i. What you can do is, read the Oracle 10g New Features, and then you will have both Oracle 9i & 10g knowledge.
    Best of luck.

  • OCA Certification Not Arrived

    Hi Friends,
I've given OCA Exam In 9i developer Track this May. And, haven't received my certificate till date. How long will it take to reach at home? I'm from Kolkata, India.
Is there any facility from where i can get the current status of my OCA Certificate details?
    Regards.
    Satyaki De.

Hi Satyaki. You need to contact OCP Team for more information. After 10g OCP, I've given 9i OCP exams, and in one month, I've cleared 3 exams (it was two months ago) but didn't get any certification (9i OCA). I contacted with OCP Team and they told me that there's some problem with my "Address Line" under my Prometric id. Then I changed and mailed them and got mail that my Certificate is on the way now :)
I strongly suggest you to contact OCP Team ASAP by writing an email to [email protected]

To obtain Oracle Certification you need to achieve:-
    (1) Relevant Exam Passes
    (2) For DBA OCP ... submission and verification of course attendance.
Now to achieve (1) you need to sit the exams, and you would wish to have dis-count vouchers to reduce the cost of the exams.
You may already have enough information to do (2).
The issues you have are between yourself and the WDP Instution. If you have a concern then I recommend contacting the Oracle WDP representative for you region in the first instance.

    >>
Believe me, just for the certification sake you wanna be OCA?
I have come across of people who simply read test exam question, go to the testing centers and do pass the exams. What they really loosing here with this approch is that no confidence of their skills, not reading Oracle docs and testing the same, and when they face interview they had to find really some difficult question where there won't be any multiple choice list. This make the interviewrs or the concern person feeling that the OCA/P has really no strength.
I would rather keep myslef reading the docs and doing the R&D before I appear for the exam.
As you said, you don't want to spend much money for getting OCA, its like wasting your money completing an OCA, if you don't answer interviewer questions and didn't get the job.
I am not discouraging you, rather, trying to put you on some confidence ROAD.

    Anil,
    You must choose a path : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=141
Oracle issues certifications in varied products : Database Products , PeopleSoft , E-Business Suite , WebLogic etc ( also including erstwhile Sun certifications ...)
Choose a Product and specify here . You will probably get more assistance .

  • After 8 weeks OCA Certificate Not Received Yet  !!! :(

    Hi OU Rep.,
Today, its been 8 weeks (2 months) after creating(27th Feb, 2012) my OCA certificate in certiview.oracle.com but still i didn't received it.
    I have raised 2 SR's
    1. 23425245
    2. 23560661
I received reply for 1st SR that i will receive the certificate in 4-6 weeks, but till i didn't received it, don't know what to do, as well no communication details for Oracle for checking with them.
If anyone has details for orntacting oracle, please let me know..
Please help me getting my certificate.
    Thanks,
    Kishor Dhamal.
    Edited by: 923303 on Apr 26, 2012 1:25 AM

    Hi Kishor,
Unfortunately, there are regions where we sometimes have to ship a certificate multiple times in order for it to be delivered. In some areas, kits are delivered within 2 weeks, in others, it could take 6 weeks, in others, it will take several shipments for the kit to arrive. It depends on the local mail systems.
I see that your first SR was answered and I guess the kit was reshipped and you still have not received it. Your 2nd SR was only submitted today - that is why you have not yet received a response. Sometimes the team is able to respond in the same day and sometimes they are not. They will respond within 3 business days. I expect that you will likely receive a response tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.- I assume you mean the 10g DBA OCA. You eed one of he SQL exams and 1z0-042 for this.
    - Read forum annoucement posts and FAQs
    - Visit [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification]
    - Visit [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=151] and drill down from there.
---- The exam course page also gives recomended oracle training.
    ---- See [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
You should also evaluate why you are chooses 10g DBA OCA rather than 11g DBA OCA. There can be good reasons for this.
Please note that if you continue with the next DBA certiifcation on that route (10g DBA OCP ) you will need to have an approved attended a hands on course (for that certification) from an approved institution (Oracle University is the safest bet).

  • Advice on Oracle DBA Associate (OCA) Certification

    Hi, All
i'm a newbie to Oracle. I was given a task of passing Cetrtification Exam 1z0-042 for
Oracle DBA (OCA - Oracle Certified Associate)
which is the lowest certification level for an Oracle DBA.
My Q: what Edition of Oracle database should I use in my preparation for the Exam: Oracle Express Edition OR Oracle Standard (enterprise?) Edition?
I started to use E-learning materials from Oracle and I see that most of the examples are given referencing Oracle Enterprise manager, which is not the part of Oracle Express Edition [if i'm wrong pls correct me]

For DBA learning, you'll want to use Enterprise Edition with all the bells and whistles (partitioning, RAC, bitmap indexes, you name it). Its free to download for this sort of purpose.
Check out www.dizwell.com for articles on installing Enterprise Edition (through VMWare or directly) on various platforms.
