Oracle Designer 10g R2 Designer Gives Error on Windows 7

Can anyone suggest ?
Tried re installation and checked registry.,, All seems to be perfect as well as on the installed location.
Please suggest.
Thanks in Advance

Can you tell more about what you installed? On what version of Windows 7 did you install your designer version on? Did you only install designer or did you install any patches?
There is a doc id on oracle support: Designer 10g Compatibility with Windows 7 (Doc ID 1333750.1)

  • Installation of Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi Guys,
We have to install Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003.
I read on net, metalink and OTN as well and it seems there is no single 10.2.0.3 setup available to do so.
One has to upgrade from earlier version to 10.2.0.3.
Is that so? Is this the only way?
I mean if we want new and fresh 10.2.0.3 then don't we have installer for it?
In this case we will have to install 10.1.0.2 and then upgrade? (we have 10.1.0.2 installable with us)
And if at all that is the only path available then for 10.2.0.3 on Windows 32 bit - Patchset 5337014 i.e. p5337014_10203_WINNT.ZIP from metalink is the correct patch?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi guys,
I donwloaded patchset - 5337014, and in its readme it is specified to download and install patch - 5601428.
So I downloaded 5601428 and set ORACLE_HOME and then fired command -

  • Designer 10g install stops during instalation on windows 7

    Hi.
I tried to install designer 10g in Win 7, but when it asks for a smtp server, i leave this field empty and button next, then the install closes without an error message.
    Please someone can help me!!!

On Oracle support (formerly metalink) there is a document (Certification of Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2) on Windows 7 (32-bit) Doc ID 1292919.1) I followed these instruction and the installation went well.
Do you install the Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2(10.1.2) or the 10gR1 (9.0.4)? I had troubles installing the 10gR1 on Windows 7 and had to upgrade the repository to the 10gR2. 10gR1 installed but I could not connect to a repository, since the Oracle client inside the developer suite did not connect.
    Regards,
    Mark

  • Designer 9i dmp file import error to Designer 10g

I have installed Designer 9i R2 and Designer 10g on two separated Windows XP.
I exported a dmp file of an application system from Designer 9i R2. I copied the dmp file to the other Windows XP.
I imported the dmp file to Designer 10g and the following errors appear:
    RME-02105: Oracle error occurred
    ORA-01986: OPTIMIZER_GOAL is obsolete
Does any one know how to resolve this problem?

    Hi,
This issue has been reported with Designer Releases prior to 9.0.4.4 against 10g database.
Please upgrade to the latest Designer Release 9.0.4.5 the import will work fine.

  • Slow performance Designer 10g (on 10gR2 database)

We are busy testing Designer 10g version 10.1.2.5 (windows XP) on 10gR2 64 bit database (Sun solaris) . The repository was migrated from Designer 6.0.
But the performance/response is rather slow. Example: At first, opening a server model diagram took 2 minutes or more. By searching the forum we found the tip for the "alter system set OPTIMIZER_SECURE_VIEW_MERGING = false;". That made a big difference.
But now we still have response problems: Expanding the treeview for the list of tables, views or snapshots takes much longer then in Designer 6.0.
Also opening for example Design Editor takes longer then one normally expects, allthough some delay can be expected because we have a lot of applications (100) in the repository.
Is it because it is now written in Java, or are more database optimizations possible?
    Paul.

Have you computed statistics using the Repository Administration Utility (RAU)? The default percentage of 20% is usually good enough, but you could go higher.
Do a View Objects in RAU and check for missing, disabled or invalid objects. If you find any, there are ways to correct the situation, mostly under the Recreate button.
Make sure that no-one else is using the repository, then press the Recreate button in RAU and use the selection labeled: Truncate Temporary Tables. Sometimes these tables get too full and can impact performance.
Under the Options menu in RAU, there is an item labeled: Enable Performance Enhancements. To be honest with you, I've never noticed this item before, and I don't know for sure what it does. Then again, I've never had any serious performance problems in Designer. It might be worth your while to back up your repository, then turn this on.

  • ORA-12505 on Oracle Database 10g Express Edition: TNS:listener

SID given in connect descriptorSo what is the SID you're asking for ... the client in use may not know the XE tnsalias, especially if the client is not running in the same ORACLE_HOME as the database.
The client needs to know how to get to the database- a `tnsping xe` reveals the path to the current ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora file for your environment but that may not be the same ORACLE_HOME used by "developer 3".

  • Oracle Forms 6i(32-bit)  = Oracle database 10g R2 Windows 2008 R2 64-bit)

    We have Oracle database 10g R2 installed on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) (SERVER1)
We have Oracle Forms 6i (patch 4a) installed on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) (SERVER2)
I am not able to connect from SERVER2 to SERVER1, either through SQLPLUS or FORMS BUILDER.
    Its giving some DLL error.
    Is it because forms 6i (32-bit) cannot connect to a 64-bit database on a 64-bit OS ?

There might be problems with 8i clients (like forms 6i) if the database uses AL32UTF8 characterset indeed (if you need unicode and you need to run forms 6i use UTF8 instead) but this should not be related to the platform of the database.
The platform of the database server really should not matter as the forms runtime talks via SQL*Net with the database server and in the end it does not matter if the database runs on linux, windows whatsoever or unix 32 or 64 bit for the client. The only problem you'll encounter is that SQL*Net also changes with versions and thus "older" clients might not be able to communicate with "newer" servers and vice versa.

  • Can't Install Oracle Designer 10g on Windows 7

When I try to install Designer 10g on Windows 7, the installer starts up, it asks me where to install the product, I choolse C:\DevSuiteHome_1. When it asks what to install, I choose "Complete". It then asks for the e-mail server; I leave this field empty and press Next. Then the installer aborts without any error message.

Which Designer 10g? Tell us the full name of the file from which you are installing. Some versions are available on OTN that cannot be installed stand-alone - they are upgrade packs for a previous version. Designer comes as part of the Oracle Developer 10g Suite, and you must install the entire suite. Oracle Reports is particularly important, because this is the tool that Designer's reports use.
