Oracle Designer Import - Missing Application Systems

Hi,
I'm tryiing to import an Oracle Designer data model into SQL Developer Data Model 3.0, which I downloaded today. I seem to have my connection to the Designer repository set up OK and I can select the non-versioned Workarea. When I click Next none of my application systems are displayed. The Oracle Designer build is 9.0.4.6.19 and the the DMBS is version 10.2.0.4. Any suggestions as to what I'm missing, greatly appreciated.
Ian

Phil,
Any idea on liikely timeframe for a fix? Our situation is basically that we are worried about potential issues with Designer as we upgrade to Windows 7 and Oracle 11gr2 some time next year. Other parts of the company use PowerDesigner and that is one alternative; we're hoping Oracle Designer will continue to work but we want to be proactive and we'd also like to look at the SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.0 as another option. I can show people here some of the features, but a clean import of the Designer data would be a huge plus as we have 3,000 + database objects. If this is something that is slated to be corrected reasonable short-term, I'll just wait to give any demonstrations and push the product further until that functionality is available. Alternatively, if this is not available any time soon, I can try to demonstrate some of the functionality with a "build from scratch" modeling exercise.
Thanks,
Ian

  • Data Modeler 30EA : Oracle Designer Import Wizard

When I want to import an Oracle Designer Model, I've no entries in "Select Applications Systems".
But in the previous release (2.0.0), i could see all my "Aplication System".
    My Oracle release is 9i.
What is the problem? Must I configure anything more?
    Thanks, Cédric

    Hi Cédric,
the problem was reported and is related to import from non versioned repository. Fix is included in EA2.

Hi All, We are in to Release 11.5.10.2.There is a specific requirement to Prevent users from creating Manual Sales Orders in Oracle and  yet users should be able to book the Sales Orders Imported from CRM system into Orcale. Please advise.

    Thanks for your advise.
However, I missed to mention that we have two set of users  One is for Finished Goods and another for Spares.
Only Spares users need to be prevented from creating Direct/Manual Sales Orders in Oracle.
As you suggested, if this will be done at Form level, that may Disallow FG users also to create Manula Sales Orders which should not be the case.
Further, I tried to test one scenario through Processing Constraints but it did not work.

  • Importing from Oracle Designer

Hi, I am looking to migrate from Oracle Designer. We have 2k plus objects in a enterprise model supporting multiple applications. When following the dialogs to import into DM 3.1, I connect to the repository fine but when I select our Logical application system, I am not seeing all our entities. What is the basis for selecting entities to present? Do they need to be checked in? We have some that are not yet versioned that do not show up and I can see them not being there but others that are versioned do not show up. I think most of these are checked out but I see some that are checked out as well. Any ideas, thks.

Yes they need to be checked in if they are versioned.

    Hi Timo.
In my application all the navigation rules are defined in faces-config.xml.
But I found following statement in the "fusion developers guide"
'**You cannot specify dialog:syntax in navigation rules within the faces-config.xml file if your Fusion web application uses ADF Controller features such as task flows. However, you can use the dialog:syntax in the control flow rules that you specify in the adfc-config.xml file.**'
Since, my application is using faces-config.xml for defining navigation rules and using task-flow as well, I suspect , this is the root of my problem.
Do u have any solution for it?
    Thanks

  • In Designer, old application system disappears after New version and ORA-01562

In Designer 2.1.2, after starting (RON 2.0.24.1.1) Application / New version,
error ORA-01562 occurred (because I have a smaller rollback segment on line).
Now I can't find in repository
old version (1) of my application system,
but new version (2) exists in repository.
Unchecking the 'Show Current Versions Only' check box doesn't help.
    Even Designer API statement:
    'SELECT id, name, version
    FROM ci_application_systems'
    displays only new version (2).
    Means this that Designer:
    - first changes old version number to new version number and commits
    - and then copies new version to old?
How to return old version number (without Designer API)?
    Thanks and regards

    Answer from Oracle
    (MetaLink Technical Forums):
'When Designer versions it takes a snapshot of the first version
and then changes the originals version number to 2.
If designer run out of rollback segments while creating a new version
it will not show the old version again.
This is a bug (818860). It is in the resolution stage.'

  • Oracle Designer Applications

    Dear All
I'd like to find out if you know any accessible model applications created in Oracle Designer or Oracle Forms (like soademo_101310_prod.zip for Application Serwer).
I'd like to analise them. If you know of any please post some info about them (maybe a link?).

Thank you Paul, for your previous reply. I was able to register the external Web PL/SQL apps and make them work. However, I'm running into a little oddity with these apps as described below.
The existing Web PL/SQL applications which when run in IE, have the standard menubar, toolbar, etc. displayed. These apps. were designed to run with iAS9i and Oracle backend databases using Basic Authentication. I didn't have any problem defining these external applications with the Login Server and using the SSO feature. However, everytime I access the applications, the login server always gives me a blank screen and asks me if I want to close this blank window (closing or not closing doesn't affect the application). Also, the application is launched and displayed in IE (in another browser window) WITHOUT the standard menubar, toolbar, etc. Have anyone come across this problem and what the solution might be. Note that I can access HOTMAIL as an external application fine without any missing menu/tool bars. Thanks. Binh.

  • Oracle Designer Install and Missing DLL's

    To Whom It May Concern:
I downloaded Oracle Designer from the download page on the Oracle site and am having difficulty installing and/or starting the Oracle Designer application.
    1) Oracle Designer Install Win32 does not allow Home names longer than 16 characters.
??? - the default Home name for Oracle Client 10g is OraClient10g_Home1
    2) After installation, Unable to locate [xxx].dll occurred multiple times. I manually copied the first missing DLL to the Oracle\...\Client_1\bin directory from [ZipFile]Install\Win32, but I couldn't find the second dll.
What do I need to do to be able to use Oracle Designer?
I am Running Oracle Client 10g on Win XP Pro SP 2
    Thank you,

    Original question withdrawn.
I found the small print...Oracle Developer Suite Required.
For those of us new to this environment, you might consider putting the requirements/dependencies on the download page or in the installation program.

  • Designer 6 - Application System

We have installed Oracle 8i as back-end on server and have also installed Repository Administration Utility with it. Than we installed Designer 6 on another PC connected to server through network. Now when I run designer with username scott (who is defined as manager in repository) the system shows a dialog box for application system. When I type any name and press 'Create' it gives an error- 'Open failed on activity' and does not create a new application system. I have tried to do this through respository object navigator also but again the same result. I ahve checked the permissions and have also reconciled the user and reconstruct the packages but nothing worked.
Moreover, I have tried with usernames internal and system as well but they are not defined in the repository users.
    Can anybody please help?
    Thanks.
    Saleem

I don't wish to spread doom and gloom, but the ORA-01422 message was the start of a long and miserable saga of Repository corruption and data loss for our site. It has taken me almost six months (on and off - I had other things to do) to recover about 95% of our data model, and we have lost most of the version history in the process.
Have a look at SRs 4947235.993 and 16210050.6 on Metalink.
I don't get onto these forums very much - too busy recovering repositories! - so I am sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I suspect that by the time you see the ORA-01422 error, it's too late to do anything about it. The Designer meta-model, unfortunately, doesn't give you all the information you need to resolve the issues on a row-by-row or element-by-element basis. The only solution I found was to delete as many of the corrupted entries as I could locate, then validate the remaining elements using the External References Utility, and then export the good bits to a clean repository.
The ROB (Repository Object Browser) is a useful aid in this exercise, as it seems to be more resilient than the RON, and will actually show you the duplicated elements. (I'm not sure that the ROB was in Version 6 - my problems were on Version 9i.) Of course, you can't manipulate data through the ROB, and you can't access the error elements through the RON, so you need to be somewhat devious about finding ways to eliminate the duplicates, but it can be done (mostly).
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • Getting error like "Error in portal_sso_redirect: missing application registration information" while trying to run application using Oracle SSO

I am trying to implement SSO authentication for my APEX application. I have registered the application as a SSO partner application.
I have set the authentication scheme to Oracle Application server Single Sign On.

    Suhas,
After you registered your application as a SSO partner application did you use the information from Oracle SSO (home URL, success URL, Logout URL, app_name etc) and loaded it into the APEX_SSO schema using the regapp.sql script from the ssosdk?

  • Getting error while importing the application in Oracle Apex

    Hi,
I am facing an issue while importing an application into my new Oracle Apex installation. Installation was successful with out any issue. I exported an application from my old Apex (version 3.0.0.00.20) and importing the same into new apex (version 3.0.1.00.08). I am getting the following error.
    ============================================================
The requested URL /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept was not found on this server.
    ============================================================
When I click on import in Application Builder page and then browse the required file it gives the progress saying "Importing File" and after some time it displays the above error.
I tried bouncing the application also and there is not error in alert log.
Could any one please suggest, if there is some problem here. Or my approach is not correct.
    Thanks in advance.

Osacar, I recommend that you try to import the application into your workspace on apex.oracle.com and see what happens. Also, refine the problem statement as much as you can, e.g., you get this error importing "the application" or when importing "any" application. How big is the file you're trying to import? Where did it come from? Can you upload images?

  • Grouping collected versions of Designer 6 application systems in 10g

    Hello,
I wasn't sure how to make the Subject clear, hopefully I'll explain my problem anyway.
I'm testing the migration of application systems from Designer 6 to Designer 10g. Some of the v6 application systems are versioned in the sense that we created new versions and froze the current one, i.e in the RON, select Application > New Version in v6. So, we may have several 'versions' of an application system called TEST, i.e.
    TEST (1)
    TEST (2)
    TEST (3)
... and so on to TEST (X). X is live, the rest are frozen.
In the 10g RON, each version (all frozen and live) of TEST appears as a separate Container in its own right. Imagine we have this situation with other named application systems we've migrated - we're dealing with a big list in the RON.
What I want to do is group all my TEST containers under a 'TEST' top level container to make navigating a bit easier (so I can expand the top level only if I want to see all the versions underneath). I did this and used the option 'Copy Application System' to copy TEST (1) and TEST (2) into this TEST top level. Unfortunately the audit info for TEST (1) and TEST (2) under the new TEST container has been lost - they now have today's date. As they're copies, I still have TEST (1) and TEST (2) as explicit Containers in their own right, but I can't see how to group them as I'd like without losing this audit info.
So - is this possible? If so, what am I doing wrong?
Hope I've explained myself. I should add we're not switching versioning on in 10g yet, so we've the GLOBAL_SHARED_WORKAREA for the moment.
    Thanks, Antony

    Michael,
Thanks again. We need to bring older versions of the frozen application systems, e.g. TEST(4), as we have interdependencies with other application systems (in terms of shared objects). Otherwise we would have only brought the latest versions over to simplify things.
When you say at the end of your reponse to 'start the SCM's method of versioning', you're talking about switching the versioning on in 10g, right? We were going to migrate our v6 content and use the GLOBAL_SHARED_WORKAREA for the moment, and enabling versioning and all that entails would be the next phase.

  • Import Oracle Designer Model

    Hello,
I have a client who maintains their data model in an old Oracle Designer 6.0 model repository. I would like to help them migrate from this very old data model to SQL Developer Data Modeler, if possible. With what versions of Oracle Designer repository is SQL Developer Data Modeler compatible with for model import?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Phillip, but I was actually referring to the version level of the Designer repository itself, not the database instance in which it resides. I seem to remember that you could not upgrade your Designer repository without also upgrading the Oracle Designer client as well; hence my question about compatibility between SQL Developer Data Modeler and various Repository versions.
