  • Oracle developer day - problem downloading .ova file (on a mac)

    I downloaded the Oracle VM virtual Box (for mac) just fine, but I'm having a problem with the "Oracle Developer Day.ova". When I try to download, I am shown a file with format problems. It looks like an initial agreement and but is not correctly formatted, it has black boxed question marks inserted oddly and html is visible. There is no option or way to save the file or agree to terms to proceed. (File path is: dowload.oracle.com/otn/other/virtualbox/dd/Oracle_Developer_Day.ova?AuthParam=[big number here]). It seems that perhaps I have a browser issue. I'm using Safari Version 6.0.4 on a mac. Is there a way that I can ftp the file using mac unix?

    I was able to download with Firefox. Apparently the latest and greatest Safari failed me.

  • Oracle Developer Suite Problems

    after 9i report builder, i find only the initial logo
    comes up and looks as if it is frozen. The discoverer,
    forms, and jdeveloper works fine. A funny thing, it used to work. Maybe, it is the space this software requires.
    When I installed it, I used C:\OraDevSuite9i as my
    initial target and then have a home of OraDevSuite9i.
    ????

    webutil_file_transfer.client_to_as_with_progressFile transfers are disabled by default. To enable file transfers, you have to update the \DevSuiteHome\forms\server\webutil.cfg file and change the following lines:
    #NOTE: By default the file transfer is disabled as a security measure
    transfer.database.enabled=FALSE
    transfer.appsrv.enabled=FALSE
    transfer.appsrv.workAreaRoot=
    transfer.appsrv.accessControl=TRUE

    transfer.appsrv.read.1=c:\temp
    #List transfer.appsrv.write.<n> directories
    transfer.appsrv.write.1=c:\tempChange transfer.database.enabled=FALSE to TRUE if you need to be able to transfer files from the Database to the client.
    Change transfer.appsrv.enabled=FALSE to TRUE if you want to transfer files from the App Server file system to the client.
    The following entries specify which directory or directories where WebUtil can read and write too on the App Server.
    #List transfer.appsrv.read.<n> directories
    transfer.appsrv.read.1=c:\temp

  • Tns problem with Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools

    I installed the full
    Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
    now I am at the good old "[ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified]" error.
    I copied the same tnsnames.ora as used on the db server
    onto the client "C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin".
    The host name is right since a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
    but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
    The listener is running and the instance as well since it all works on the source server.
    I tried it with
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin
    but tnsping is still not recognized.
    sqlplus works on the other hand when I set it to
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\
    what is going on...

    hey

  • Problems installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows 7

    Hi Experts;
    I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows XP, but now I change to windows 7, 64 bits, I was trying to install this product and I'm having a lot of problems, apparently this product is not compatible with windows 7.
    My question is, is there any product, like Oracle Developer Suite 10g for windows 7? I was looking for in the Oracle page, and  I couldn't see anything, may be the name is diferent.
    Thanks for your help.
    Al

    First off, Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g is no longer supported so Oracle has discontinued improving the product.  While ODS is not certified by Oracle for use on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), you can install and use on Windows 7 (32/64 bit).  This is a commonly asked question so a search of the forum would have given you several solutions.
    The limitations of the Oracle installer are:
    1.  You must have Administrator rights to install.
    2.  Windows 7 is not a supported version (it's version 6 and it is looking for version 5), so the installer exits.
    3.  It's unable to recognize Windows Managed virtual memory.
    To get around these limitations you must do the following:
    1.  Modify your Virtual Memory settings and define a specific Min and Max amount.   Look at this MS article if you need help making this change: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
    2.  You must run the Oracle installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP.  To do this,
      - Right-click on the setup.exe and select the Compatibility tab and click "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP SP2"
    3.  While still in the properties and the compatibility tab, select the option, "Run as Administrator" and click OK.
    Now run the Oracle setup.exe and your installation should succeed.

  • Oracle Developer 6.0 installation problem..

    While in the process of installing Oracle Developer 6.0, using Oracle Installer 3.3.1.0c, the installer indicates that the intsallation can not go on since there are Oracle services running and that I have to stop all Oracle services or applications to proceed. The installer suggests that I use NT service manager to stop all Oracle services. That is exactly what I did and still the installer insists that there are still Orcale servcies related to "Required support files" running. What do you think the problem is? I have successfully installed Oracle 8, Enterprise Edition on this same machine on which I am trying to install Developer.

    There are other services that may cause you trouble.
    I have had to turn off SMTP and DHCP services in the past.

    to find the hostname open terminal/command prompt in oracle installed machine
    type ---> hostname

  • Urgent: Some Problem on using Oracle Developer and Oracle 8i

    I have download the Oracle Developer from this website.
    I follow the instruction and install the Oracle Developer.
    After I finished install the Developer, a error message shows:
    "user1.pin(20):OS_ERROR whilw spawing if srv60-install Forms60Server -OraHome81d2 port:900mode:Socket batch:yes."
    When I login in the SQL Plus 8i using User name: sys
    A error message shows "ORA:122-03: Unable to connect to destination"
    I can't use the Scheme Builder also and when I open the Net8 Assistant, I can't close the program in a normal way:
    Click X on the corner/ Click File->Exit.
    Would you help me to solve this problem? Thanks!

    The problem that u are unable to login into sql prompt is may be that, you havent install the database or if u have installed it u havent started it.
    If u are using windows nt,2000,xp then u can start it from services which is under administrative tools or if u are using 95 or 98 then u have to start the database from the program menu.
    The problem that developer net8 assistant doesnt exit is a reality and i also face this problem, I think it is a bug of oracle, and if i started it, i have to endtask it.
    Bye

    If you are installing into Windows 2000, one workaround recommendation by Oracle for this problem is:
    Install the latest Windows* 2000 Service Pack patch: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/
    Create a temporary directory on your Intel Pentium® 4 processor server (e.g. \TEMP).
    Copy the contents of the Oracle* Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 2.
    Search the directory structure created in step 2 for the existence of the filename SYMCJIT.DLL.
    Rename each copy of the SYMCJIT.DLL to SYMCJIT.OLD.
    Run the SETUP.EXE from the \TEMP\install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x.
    If you have any other questions on this work around, please contact Oracle.

    My current version of openmotif.i386 is 2.3.0-0.5.el5
    The installation stated a failure for the specific version but also stated later versions could work. I will not be able to run a earlier version of this package.
    Any help in resolving this would be appreciated.
