  • Oracle Developer patchset 4

I have developed an application in Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.8.0 (Production).
I am facing the problem that Oracle Forms Runtime crashes when navigating the application most of the time when exiting the form using EXIT_FORM. In the dump file i check that following is the cause of this crash.
    Client Status [ConnId=0, PID=3244]
ERROR: Abnormal termination, Error Code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATIONIn another forum i read that this is the known problem in this version and you have to install Oracle Developer patchset 4 to resolve it.
Where can i download this patch? URL?
    Thanks

if you use forms 6i you shouldn't use the patch 4.
The latest release which is certified against the 10g db rel. 1 is patch 17.
That's the last released forms 6i version. For newer databases you should migrate to forms 10g

  • How to install Oracle Developer Server 6.0 on NT?

I am trying to install the Oracle Developer Server 6.0 on NT using the CD's available through the Oracle Enterprise Developer Suite for NT. The cover pack on the Oracle Developer Server 6.0 CD shows a product called Developer Server. (Please note that I have another CD called Oracle Developer 6.0 in the suite). However, when I run the installer and look at the products available on the CD, there is no product called Developer Server. The CD only contains Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports etc.
Further, I just tried a typical Development Setup, but it starts the installation and suddenly exits the installer without giving any error message or any other info. Why is the installer ending abruptly? Thinking that it is not a Y2K complaint Installer, I actually tried installing the CD contents from a Y2K complaint Installer but during the installation process, it exits with a message that the Installer need to be installed from the media. This message is displayed although I don't select Oracle Installer as one of the product to be installed.
Has anyone else faced a similar problem? Could some one let me know how to install the Oracle Developer Server 6.0 on NT.
    Best Regards,
    Arun Kumar B.

  • Problems installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows 7

    Hi Experts;
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows XP, but now I change to windows 7, 64 bits, I was trying to install this product and I'm having a lot of problems, apparently this product is not compatible with windows 7.
My question is, is there any product, like Oracle Developer Suite 10g for windows 7? I was looking for in the Oracle page, and  I couldn't see anything, may be the name is diferent.
    Thanks for your help.
    Al

First off, Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g is no longer supported so Oracle has discontinued improving the product.  While ODS is not certified by Oracle for use on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), you can install and use on Windows 7 (32/64 bit).  This is a commonly asked question so a search of the forum would have given you several solutions.
The limitations of the Oracle installer are:
    1.  You must have Administrator rights to install.
    2.  Windows 7 is not a supported version (it's version 6 and it is looking for version 5), so the installer exits.
    3.  It's unable to recognize Windows Managed virtual memory.
To get around these limitations you must do the following:
    1.  Modify your Virtual Memory settings and define a specific Min and Max amount.   Look at this MS article if you need help making this change: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
    2.  You must run the Oracle installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP.  To do this,
      - Right-click on the setup.exe and select the Compatibility tab and click "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP SP2"
    3.  While still in the properties and the compatibility tab, select the option, "Run as Administrator" and click OK.
Now run the Oracle setup.exe and your installation should succeed.

  • Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 7

Hi. Does anyone know if running Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2) on Windows 7 is supported?

This is a very common question in the Forum. Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g R2 (with patchset 3: 10.1.3.0.2) is supported on Windows 7 32-bit. Last I checked, it was not supported on Windows 7 64-bit. Keep in mind, that this is just for the developer install of ODS. Version 10.1.2.0.2 is not supported, but it will work. Just follow the instructions installing on Windows Vista (search the forum - there are many posts on this topic as well).
The client application is supported on all versions of Windows (32 or 64 bit).
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • Unable to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 7

    Hello,
I'm getting the following error message when using OUI on the Specify File Locations screen after providing source and destination:
Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Windows NT, Windows 2000 available for installation in this staging area.
Anyone else have this happen while trying to install? I see that a few people have been successful in getting it installed. The destination was provided by default as C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory.
Any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

The Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g is now certified by Oracle for installation on Windows 7 (32-bit). For installation steps, I recommend you take a look at My Oracle Support article: *How to Install Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2) on Windows 7 (32-bit) [ID 1292919.1]*. There is no need to run the XP-Mode (Virtual PC) of Windows 7 in order to install and use ODS on Windows 7.
Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Windows NT, Windows 2000 available for installation in this staging area. This error could be caused by many things. I've seen two. The first (as I recall) was caused by an issue with one of the files in the Inventory directory. We were able to get around the issue by deleting a file (I'm sorry, but I don't recall which file or if we simply deleted the directory). I recommend you check with Oracle Support before you delete any files or the directory, however.
The other issue I've seen cause this is "spaces" in the directory path to the installer. This was the most common cause that I've seen. Make sure there are no spaces in the directory path where the installer is located.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • Differences between Oracle Developer an ORacle JDeveloper

    Hi,
I am doing a work and i need to know the differences between Oracle Developer and Oracle JDeveloper, if someone can help me it would be very aprreciated.

    Aton wrote:

    - Oracle SQLDeveloper
    - Oracle Developer Suite
    2) Assuming Oracle Developer Suite:
    - Oracle Dev Suite is used to create Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Oracle Discoverer worksheets, and Entity Relationship Diagrams
    - Oracle JDeveloper is used to create any kind of Java object (including Java 2 & 3 tier forms) and ALL objects that support those Java objects (XML, UML, database, SOAP, etc) BUT NOT the stuff in Dev Suite.
Both are very powerful. Expect to take at least 15 minutes* to learn either.

  • XML Development Vs. Oracle Developer

    My question is simple:
We do all of our development work using Oracle Developer and recently have begun to use the Forms Server to put our applications on the Web...I have read a little about XML, but I was wondering if anyone could lend some arguements about :
    1. When would I use XML over Developer?
    2. What do I need to get started?
    3. What would the best resources be to get a very-beginner XMLr going?

    Florent,
The two products are complimentary. XDB is a server product,
integrated with the Oracle server engine, and SQL as well.
BDB XML is a lighter weight, embedded library.
It is anticipated that the market overlap for the two products
    is not very large.

I wonder about the benefits of having two XML DB
engines for Oracle. What are the plans regarding BDX
    (and XDB)?

  • Using Oracle Developer Suite 10g Without the Oracle Database

I have never used Oracle, but have used MS SQL Server 7. I need to learn Forms. An Oracle salesperson suggested I download Oracle Developer Suite 10g (the demo product). It includes the Oracle Developer Suite (with Forms Developer), and many other programs.
The salesperson said it includes a database server, but I suspect it does not. I only downloaded the package last night, and have begun to skim the documentation, but I see nothing that looks like a database server.
In SQL Server 7, the database engine is run as a service and you create and manage your tables (do all the database admin stuff) using SQL Enterprise Manager.
So, does this package include a database engine/server? Or must you also have the Oracle Database?
I don't see a demo version of the Oracle Database - is there one?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,
The Developer Suite does not contain a demo version of the Oracle Database.
You can download the database from this page:

    3) you now connect to a database
    - this database has an NLS character settings that where set during using a spfile or pfile
    - or, as in the case of the characterset, was defined and set once, during the creation of the database.
    So...
Your NLS settings in (1) can be different from the ones that are active in the database (3).
Your NLS settings are / can be set on windows on 5 levels
    In the registry under /software/oracle:
    1) on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

In the envionment settings from windows under control panel, system, advanced, environment settings:
    3) on system level
    4) on user level
    5) On command level via explicitly setting the parameter before starting the actual program
