  • Oracle Developer Suite New Version !!!

    hi ,
i heared that Oracle intend to release a new version of Oracle iDS , is that right , and if so what are the new features , does any body know !? , Thanks

    No Mark,
I don't think you can access Forms field from JavaScript that way. You will just be able to trigger a WHEN-CUSTOM-JAVASCRIPT-EVENT pl/sql trigger in Forms from JavaScript and you will be able to call JavaScript from pl/sql tigger/program units.
Grant links to my blog article at http://www.oratransplant.nl/2006/06/07/oracles-plans-for-forms-version-11/ that describes most of the new 11g features. Please note that these plans were presented to us in summer 2006 and are subject to change for the final release.
My personal opinion is that this JavaScript API is the best thing that happened to Forms since the move to the web. You can do great things with this API and with a little bit of extra effort you can already get the same functionality in previous releases. See the short screencast at http://www.oratransplant.nl/2007/01/22/flash-movie-showing-forms-and-jsf-integration/ I created to show the potential of this feature. It enables the use of existing Forms as components in newly build web applications.

  • Which version of oracle developer suit is compatible with windows 7  32 bit

Can somebody plz let me know which version of Oracle Developer suite is compatible with windows 7(32 bit). And plz tell me the link through which i can download this.I want to download this software for making practice of Oracle Forms and Reports by installing it at my PC.
i had downloaded ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip from Oracle's site but while installing it it showing the error msg in the log as-
    Using paramFile: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\install\install\oraparam.ini
    Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.1
    Failed <<<<
Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\installActions2012-08-13_03-14-21PM.log
    Please press Enter to exit...
Please provide me some solution for this---

Oracle Developer Suite (ODS - Forms 10g) 10g R2 (ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip) is not certified on Windows 7, however it will work. Oracle has certified Forms 11g (Fusion Middlware 11g R2) for Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit).
You can make ODS work on Windows 7, but you have to change a few things before installing to make it work.
Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.1Failed <<<<>
This is a fairly common bug (not just with Oracle). The Oracle installer was written to check for a specific version of Windows rather than check for a minimum version of Windows.
Fix 1: Right-click the Oracle setup.exe and select Properties and then click the Compatibility tab and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP SP3".
The Oracle installer also is unable to check the amount of Virtual Memory (VM) available when the VM is set to "System Managed."
Fix 2: Open the System Control panel (Start => Control Panel => System OR press Windows Key and Pause Break key). From the System Properties window, click the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Performance. Change the Virtual Memory settings to 2048mb min and 4096mb max. Then save and restart your computer. See Microsoft - Change the size of virtual memory for more information on changing the VM. (Note; after the installation is complete, you can - and should - change the VM settings back to System Managed.)
Lastely, the Oracle installer is not designed to work with the Windows 7 User Account Control (UAC) functionality.
Fix 3: Right-click Oracle setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
Done, now you are ready to run the Forms 10g setup again.
As I mentioned above, Forms 11g is certified with Windows 7 and is also the only supported version available so you might want to skip Forms 10g and go straight to Forms 11g. For this you will need to download and install WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.5 and Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g R2. Install WLS first, but do not run the configuration at the end of the installation. Then install FMw and run the configuration during this installation. Also, you will want to run both installers "As Administrator".
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • How to make Oracle Developer Suite use different Oracle client version

    Hello,
    I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4) on Win7 32bit
When I run Oracle Forms or Oracle Reports or any DB tool (like SQL Navigator or PL/SQL Developer) and trying to connect to remote Oracle DB 10g (10.2.0.5.0) I get an error ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION.
Then I've installed Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.4.0 and made DB tools use this client and error was gone, but I still get that error using Forms and Reports.
So my qustion is, can I make Oracle Forms and Reports use any other Oracle Client but that was installed with Oracle Developer Suite? Or any other suggestions are welcome how to fix connection issue in Forms and Reports?
I have read many threads and some suggested to set NLS_LANG. Done that, but it didn't help :(

The better question is why are you trying to use an obsolete Oracle product on such a new OS and expecting it to work properly? Are you also using MS Office 95 on this machine? Attempting to hack a solution is fine if you are just learning to use a product or just playing around. However, I would never recommend attempting to do what you are doing.
Oracle Forms 9.x was desupported years ago, long before Windows 7 was released. Trying to use it in this manner is risky at best and not something that should be done in a professional environment. If you are a student or just home user trying to learn on your own, I would recommend that you use a virtualization product like Oracle Virtual Box and create a vm of an older OS. For example XP, then install on that platform. If you are a licensed user of Win 7 Pro or higher, I believe Microsoft is still giving away (for free) "XP Mode". Details here:

  • Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 with Oracle Database 10.2.0

    Dear All,
I've downloaded Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 from OTN website. I'm having two database versions on two different machines on the network. They are Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 and Oracle 10.2.0.
Which one is more suitable to work with Dev Suite 10.1.2, the lower version of database or the upper.
    Please help,
    Thanks,

"they are Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 and Oracle 10.2.0."
go with the 10.2 database server (10gR2). As you might know, the 9.2.0.1 is no longer supported. You must upgrade your 9i database to 9.2.0.8 (latest patchset). So, avoid upgrading (especially if it's not your job) and use the 10gR2 server and save yourself headaches in the future. (for example: if you want to upgrade your iDS/iAS 10gR2 to latest patchset 3, then one of the requirements is to ensure that your metadata repository minimum is 9.2.0.8 (if on a separate db)).
    Hope this proves useful

  • Jdeveloper in oracle development suite

    Hi
I was using oracle jdeveloper 10g. but now i have to work on forms too so i have to down load oracle development suite. I was excepting that i will contain the latest version of jdeveloper but thats not the case.
Now can i update the jdeveloper (it does not updates from check updates menu show error)

    Hi,
no, Developer Suites follow the major releases that include Forms. This is 10.1.2 at the current. If you want to build for Forms using a newer build then just make sure you link to frmall.jar from the project library (okay, it does not have the Forms PJC wizard, but I couldn't remember having used this at all)

  • Oracle Developer Suite

Hi...I was trying to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g, I downloaded the two files, and ran the first one...well, when the process rate told me 'insert disc 2'' I did it, but, almost in the 97%, the process told me: "please insert the DevSuite file"....In was looking for it, in the file 1 and in the file.exe 2, but I didn't found it.

    Hi Brad,
The Developer Suite contains an older version of JDeveloper (10.1.2, the last production release) as well as Forms, Reports, Designer etc.
If you want to try the XMI Import/Export functinality then all you need is to download JDeveloper 10.1.3 Preview as this is the latest version of the product but is not yet in production.
    Hope that helps,

  • Problems installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows 7

    Hi Experts;
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows XP, but now I change to windows 7, 64 bits, I was trying to install this product and I'm having a lot of problems, apparently this product is not compatible with windows 7.
My question is, is there any product, like Oracle Developer Suite 10g for windows 7? I was looking for in the Oracle page, and  I couldn't see anything, may be the name is diferent.
    Thanks for your help.
    Al

First off, Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g is no longer supported so Oracle has discontinued improving the product.  While ODS is not certified by Oracle for use on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), you can install and use on Windows 7 (32/64 bit).  This is a commonly asked question so a search of the forum would have given you several solutions.
The limitations of the Oracle installer are:
    1.  You must have Administrator rights to install.
    2.  Windows 7 is not a supported version (it's version 6 and it is looking for version 5), so the installer exits.
    3.  It's unable to recognize Windows Managed virtual memory.
To get around these limitations you must do the following:
    1.  Modify your Virtual Memory settings and define a specific Min and Max amount.   Look at this MS article if you need help making this change: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
    2.  You must run the Oracle installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP.  To do this,
      - Right-click on the setup.exe and select the Compatibility tab and click "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP SP2"
    3.  While still in the properties and the compatibility tab, select the option, "Run as Administrator" and click OK.
Now run the Oracle setup.exe and your installation should succeed.

  • Want to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g R2 on Windows 7 (64-bit)

    Hi,
I have windows 7 (64-bit) installed on my laptop. I want to install Oracle developer suite 10g R2 on this machine but when I run the Oracle Universal Installer, it gives me error stating "operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1, 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed<<<<
    Exiting OUI.
Can anyone please help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

Developer Suite 10 is not certified or supported to be installed on Win7 (64bit). Although it can be done, you will have problems later if you manage to get it installed. If you really want to have it on your Win7 laptop, I encourage you to install "Windows XP Mode", which is part of Windows Virtual PC. This is free to licensed Win7 users (does not apply to Home edition). Refer to the following:

  • Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 7

Hi. Does anyone know if running Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2) on Windows 7 is supported?

This is a very common question in the Forum. Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g R2 (with patchset 3: 10.1.3.0.2) is supported on Windows 7 32-bit. Last I checked, it was not supported on Windows 7 64-bit. Keep in mind, that this is just for the developer install of ODS. Version 10.1.2.0.2 is not supported, but it will work. Just follow the instructions installing on Windows Vista (search the forum - there are many posts on this topic as well).
The client application is supported on all versions of Windows (32 or 64 bit).
    Hope this helps,
