I would like to install Oracle Diagnostics Pack and Oracle Tuning Pack for Oracle 8i. However, I cannot find anywhere to download the packs. Is it bundle with the Oracle 8i installation CD?

Correct. The only way to tell if you have a license to use the Diagnostic pack is to search your purchase invoices and license contracts to see what is written there.
There is nothing in the database itself that will tell you whether you are licensed to use a particular feature
However if you know the license you are using for your Oracle database is standard then you cannot be licensed for the Diagnostic pack because Oracle does not allow you to license that option with standard edition.

You are confusing one for the other. You have probably heard of AWR requiring the Diagnostics Pack and wonder what the pack can do in 9i if AWR is not available in 9i.
Usage of AWR and related features available from 10g requires the Diagnostics Pack. However, usage of the SQL Advisors requires the Tuning Pack.
The two are separate packs. These are products from the Oracle Enterprise Manager stack.
Tuning Pack and Diagnostics Packs have been available in 8i as well.
So, you can purchase these packs in 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g . If you have purchased them and paid annual support fees, you can upgrade them.
What you can do with the packs may well vary in each version. Thus, AWR is not available in 9i and below.

Remove Diagnostics Pack, Database Tuning Pack :Oracle 10g

Hi All,
I want to remove Application Server Configuration Pack, Application Server Diagnostics Pack, Database Configuration Pack, Database Diagnostics Pack, Database Tuning Pack from 10g due to license restriction. How can I remove these packs from command line syntax in 10g as I don't have GUI access so unable to perform from OEM?

According to link provided by you we can revoke license with emcli tool but it is not installed with current database (10.2.0.4.0).
Please advice is there any procedure available which can disable all these packs in 10g.

DBMS_SPACE.OBJECT_GROWTH_TREND without Diagnostics Pack

Hi ,
Can i use DBMS_SPACE.OBJECT_GROWTH_TREND without Diagnostics Pack? As per the docs this procedure uses AWR for information retrieval.
Also I've seen that there are multiple bugs related to this in <10.2.0.3. Can some one share their experiences with this option.
My objective here is to observe past object growth at database/object level. This seems to be the ONLY option provided by oracle for this.Any other hints apart from custom scripts.

As per the licencing docs AWR is part of Diagnostics pack. I'm not supposed to access any AWR tables without proper licence. It also mentions set of packages which will use the AWR information and i'm not supposed to use those packages as well. But no where in the licencing document there is a information about DBMS_SPACE package.
Having said all this, licencing doc also mentions that there are few tables/view that start with DBA_HIST, which can be used WITHOUT licence.
I need to know if there is any clear YES or NO kind of information for my question. Any information you have will be highly helpful.

Errors in OEM with Diagnostics Pack

all,
when login as oracle, the user used to install oracle9i and oem I can access diagnostics pack under oem. However when accessing it as different user and clicking on diagnostics pack and login in I am getting this:
VTD-0123: Error connecting to target PROD
No Collection Cartridge of this service type are available.
Any idea? Thanks.

Diagnostics Pack License Question

How do I know if I am authorized to use diagnostics pack of OEM? Is there any way to stop people from using AWR or addm thru command line?

Check you licensing agreement to see if you licensed the diagnostics pack. If you did not make the purchase, you might need to talk either to your purchasing department or call you Oracle sales representative.
You can turn off access to the diagnostic pack as well as other packs through OEM on the Set up page. Click the Management Pack Access link to disable the pack(s) per database.

License costs for Performance and Diagnostics packs

Does anyone have a reference to Oracle's 11G licensing structure that includes the list price for Oracle's Management Packs, specifically the Performance and Diagnostics packs?

Error while installing SSMA for Oracle Extension Pack 5.3

When installing the database utilities portion of the SSMA for Oracle Extension Pack 5.3 setup, the error below occurs.

R12 Oracle Diagnostics Zip files

Sorry if this has been asked before but my understanding is Oracle Support's preference when uploading multiple files to an SR is to zip them into a single zip file.
However when you are asked by Support to run multiple R12 Oracle Diagnostics each resulting html file arrives compressed in its own zip file.
This creates a problem because as far as I know you cannot zip multiple zip files together and you must go through the laborious task of extracting out each html file, renaming it so the file name is meaningful, and then zip then all up together into a single zip file.
Not an issue for 2 or 3 but when you are asked for diagnostics on 20 transactions it can take some time.
Does anyone know a way around this by perhaps obtaining the resulting html file uncompressed and named with the file name you specified at run time?

Well this is embarrasing. I've just rechecked and you're quite right, it is possible to zip 2 zip files together.
I could have sworn I've tried this before and it didn't work.

Oracle Diagnostics not allowing to enter parameter

While running Oracle diagnostics through Front End in R12 user is not able to give the parameters for WorkPlan...and getting the below error...
Invalid (tests) selected. Please change to developer mode to get more details
Anyone have any idea why its not allowing to enter the parameter and also getting the above error

Oracle Diagnostics for E-Business

Hi, I am trying to get my head around the current situation for Oracle diagnostics.
My understanding is that the older Diagnostics Framework has been replaced with a proper Diagnostics Module ( IZU ) available as a responsibility within E-Biz. From 12.1.1 this module is included in the base install. Prior to that the module is still available as a patch ( depending on what version of E_Biz you are on ) but only back to a minimum version of 11.5.4 ( with pre-requisite FND and AD levels ).
Q1. For this new Diagnostics Module - does it have an accompanying Catalog of tests within the patch for the Diagnostic module itself or is the catalog supplied via a separate patch ?
Q2. My understanding therefore is that a updated test catalogs are only available with each RUP of E-Business. However can you also added individual tests to your catalog as each test itself has a patch number - is that right ?
Q3. So the only cumulative batch of tests are those supplied with each RUP, rather than cumulative patches for the catalog - is that correct ?
Q4. If you are already using the older diagnostics framework on an 11.5.X system and you wish to use the diagnostics module ( IZU ) is it simply a case of installing this module through the appropriate patch ( and readme ) ? In such a case does the IZU module then override the older diagnostics framework that was in place

Both - the default IZU install comes with a standard battery of tests - these tests are updated thru IZU patches. See MOS Doc 235307.1 (E-Business Suite Diagnostic Tools FAQ and Troubleshooting Guide for Release 11i and R12)

Hi,
I'm getting the error "Invalid test(s) selected" every time I try to execute any of the possible tests on the "Oracle Diagnostics Tool".
That's why I'm not sure if the error is related to Oracle R12 or if the DBAs missed a patch or so during the installation.
I want to know about the oracle diagnostics because that will help me with future errors showing me more details about them.

Eclipse 3.7.2 and Oracle Enterprise Pack

Since Eclipse-Update from Version 3.7.1 to 3.7.2 the version from "org.eclipse.wst.server.ui"-bundle has increased to 1.3.0.xxx.
By the way this is a update of a major-release-version with incompatible changes in a minor-release of Eclipse.
The newest version of Oracle Enterprise Pack needs [1.1.305, 1.2.0).
Is there any solution for this problem ?

How to integrate Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal

to setup my development environment for developing portal applications, but I cannot set it up, my eclipse does not have PORTAL perspective.
I have downloaded the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5) and the Oracle WebLogic Portal 10.3 as mentioned in the documentation.
The Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3 includes a workshop version of eclipse, but that is not based on a recent Eclipse, that is why I would like to use the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5).
It is weird int he Oracle Portal 10.3 installation that I cannot install the Weblogic Portal without the Workshop.
Could you help me in this? How can I integrate the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal?

For WebLogic Portal tooling you have a couple of options. For WebLogic Portal 10.3 and older, Workshop for WebLogic will be your tooling environment.
Starting in WebLogic Portal 10.3.2, which released this year, the development tools have migrated to Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. The WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 installer will install both the runtime and the IDE configured with additional WebLogic Portal Eclipse features (Portal Project Configuration, Perspecitives, Palettes, Deployment, etc).

Oracle Enterprise pack for eclipse in Spring STS

I installed Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse in Spring STS (Springsource Eclipse IDE). I want to use this for Oracle OSB development. After installing this I cannot find the options to create OSB project in STS.
Am I missing something?
I noticed that in Oracle Enterprise pack for eclipse IDE (the one installed with weblogic server) has Oracle Common Tools too. Do I need to install this one? If yes, where can I find the URL for eclipse update?

Those waiting for updated Kepler support will be happy to know that OEPE 12.1.1.2.2 was tested with Kepler RC3 and should work with final Kepler build when it comes out in a few weeks.
