Oracle Download Limitations

I have looked through the various Oracle documentation on Oracle 8i Standard/Enterprise and 8i Personal Edition, and also 9i of each. I can not find the limitations for each.
If you download the versions from the internet, what are the limitations. I would like to do some test for my company before purchasing Oracle and would like to know what we can expect.
Thanks!

I have only used the downloads for development and testing purposes (2 or 3 users max) but I don't think there is a limit.
Keep in mind that if you are planning to role it out to a large number of users (i.e., a production environment) you need to buy the licenses. If you want support, you have to register.

  • Where I can find Oracle Text limitations?

    Hi,
Are there any release notes about Oracle Text limitations?
I have read in some place that this only can have around two thousand millons documents.
Is that correct? Where I can find information about this kind of limitations?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vladimir
Workflow 2.6.4 is included with Oracle 10g Release 2
    1) Could check it doing a custom installation of the database product?
    2) Maybe you will need the Oracle 10g R2 Companion CD or Oracle 10g R2 Client to install Workflow Builder 2.6.4 (client side)

  • File Download limited to 4 files at a time... the rest are pending...

    safari version 2.0.3 (417.9.2)
File Download limited to 4 files at a time... the rest are pending...
    - it did not used to be this way -
    - is there a way to up the limit to more than 4 things at a time - if so how?

I believe 4 is the Safari limit. To be sure, go to your User Library>Safari folder and trash the downloads.plist file. Restart Safari and try multiple downloads. Trashing this file resets the Safari Download function and clears any corruption in the file.
If 4 is the limit, you'll have to try a 3rd party application such as SpeedDownload, which offers much more download flexibility and features than Safari.
One word of caution, if you try SpeedDownload but decide it is not for you, make sure you uninstall all of its components, especially any in your Internet-Plug-ins or InputManagers folder in either the Main or User Library, and the YazSoft preference file in your Preferences Folder. I know the app. comes with an uninstall feature, however, always good to double check.

  • Oracle Express Limitation

    Good day
As specified in the documentation Oracle Express offers the following space storage limitations. To clarify what defines the storage space, can you please answer the questions below. Here are the four limitation as specified in the Oracle Express documentation
1- User data cannot exceed 4 gigabytes in size (in addition to Oracle system data).
2- Each computer can host only one instance of Oracle Express.
3 - Oracle Express may be installed on a multiple CPU machine, but it will execute (run) only on a single processor or a single processor core if multi-core processors are used.
4- Oracle Express may be installed on a server with any amount of memory, but will use only up to 1 GB of available RAM memory.
User data cannot exceed 4 gigabytes in size (in addition to Oracle system data).
QUESTION 1 - Please confirm that the ENTIRE 4 GIG is allocated for user storage not oracle files storage?
QUESTION 1 - Please confirm that the 4 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by Oracle system files (SYS and SYSTEM)?
QUESTION 2 - Please confirm that the 4 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by Oracle Temp files and Undo / Redo files (TEMP and UNDO)?
QUESTION 3- Please confirm that the 4 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by Oracle CONTROL FILE and BLOCK CHANGE TRACKING files?
QUESTION 4 - What query can I run to identify the used space within the 4 GIG allocated storage space?
I have also heard that the overall Physical size is limited to 5 GIG (Need to know is this is true. It is not mentionned in Oracle Express documentation)
QUESTION 1 - Does Oracle Express limits the overall database physical size to 5 GIG?
QUESTION 2 - If Question 1 is true -- Please confirm that the 5 GIG limitation DOES NOT include space used by TEMP and UNDO / REDO files?
QUESTION 3 - If Question 1 is true -- Does the 5 GIG limitation includes space used by SYS and SYSTEM files?
QUESTION 4 - If Question 1 is true -- Does the 5 GIG limitation includes space used by CONTROL FILE and BLOCK CHANGE TRACKING files?
QUESTION 5 - What query can I run to identify the overall database size?
Thank you in advance for your help. I really appreciate it.

What query can I run to identify the overall database size?Try this :SQL> select sum(bytes) from dba_data_files
      2  where tablespace_name not in (select tablespace_name
      3  from dba_tablespaces where contents = 'UNDO');

  • Oracle table limitation

with regard to oracle limiting 1000 column per table I did split the table into two tables but I want to create a view that join the two tables but the view also is limited to 1000 columns , so I have to change all the SQL statements that referenced that table to the new join statement but if I can resolve this having not to change the SQL would help me a lot.. ANY IDEAS.

You have a limitation with table name, constraint name, trigger name, ...

Hi Robin. Welcome to the forums.
There is no usage limit at all for option 3, not even a hidden one.
See my shortcuts, link below, option 14z. It was applied in April 2011.

  • Internet Sharing and Download Limits

    Hi Everyone
    *Current Setup*
I have a home network of 2 Desktop Macs, 2 Laptop Macs, and one desktop PC. Currently we all share the internet through an ADSL modem (with built-in wireless router & 4 ethernet ports) which is always running.
    *The Problem*
Every month we go over the download limit set by our ISP. We have increased our plan a number of times, but it's now getting to the point that I no longer want to increase the amount I'm paying.
    *What I Want*
Basically, I am hoping to setup one of the following two scenarios:
    1. the ability to set download limits on the various computers and, once they are reached, to stop that computer's internet access
    2. If (1) above is too difficult (or expensive), then the ability to monitor each computer's usage would probably be enough. That way, once its usage is over the limit I wish it to have, then I could manually disconnect it from the network.
I understand that these setups may involve the purchase of additional software and hardware. I would be most interested in what my learned users have to share.
    Thanks greatly,
    Joe.

These people have what you're looking for... just can't remember which one at the moment!?

  • 11g free download limitation ?

    Hi,
What are limitations for Database 11g under Oracle Technology Network Development License ?
How long is the trial period ?
I could not find any answer from the web.
    Thanks.

I can verify that it is free to download, free to use for learning and free to evaluate. There are no time limits, no functionality is limited and there are no nag screens.
There is also no access to Support, and no access to patches and upgrades.
Note that by downloading you do agree to the Developer's License Terms, which includes the permission for Oracle to audit you and verify that you are not using the software in production.
The 'Trail License' you read about is specifically a 30 day license that includes access to Metalink and additional resources. This license is arranged by (and through) Sales, and Sales pays the Support fee for 30 days.

  • So I can update my Oracle Java Applet Plug-in to Development Kit 7, Update 65, can you link me to the correct Oracle download page from your Plugin Update page?

When I periodically accessed your Plugin Check and Updates web page in the past, I really appreciated you connecting me to the correct Plugin Updates vendor web page when I clicked on your red Update Now button. This time, however, your Java Applet Plug-in "Update Now" button linked me to the Oracle Java "7u65 Updates Release Notes" instead of the usual download page. It seems rather unexpected for me, or any other conscientious user for that matter, to search the appropriate "JDK 7U65" file download from the Oracle website.
    Thank you,

This is getting way too complicated for normal peop.
First: the "Update Plugin" does not work, it goes to a page with all sort of computer jargon but no "Update button" anywhere.
Second: this forum jscher2000 gives a good solution, but I downloaded the incorrect java update, because my computer is 64 bit. how am I supposed to know my browser is what it refers to and that FF is 32 bit.....???$%^&*()??
Third: some of those "critical update" software are not even on my computer....well at least I don't think it is, I search for "shockwave" and did not find it.
I love Moz FF but the updating is starting to get out of control. why give us (computer idiot) an auto recommendation update not tailored to our computer? Perhaps in big letters at the top there should be an explanation "this is general suggestion these plugin needs updating, not to tailored with your computer, do your own research"
and/or add info I need to know like the 32 bit thing, took me forever to download the 64bit update for JAVA and it was the wrong one.
Now I am just afraid to update anything for FF because it is too darn confusing.

  • 11g oracle download for 32bit is corrupt.

    http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle11g/112010/win32_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
Every time i download it the file says it is invalid. any ideas ?

    Hi,
File is around 1.51 GB, try using a download program.
And download both the files, you are probably trying to unzip only by downloading win32_11gR2_database_1of2.zip. You should also download win32_11gR2_database_2of2.zip under the same directory and then try to unzip using winrar or winzip.
    This should work.

  • Oracle XE limitation

    Hi,
I'd like to install Oracle XE and I don't know if I have any problem with limitation.
my O.S. is windows 2003 server with 1 GB ram.
I have 8 user can access the database server concurrently
I have tomcat installed on 8080 port , I Know that Oracle XE run on http://127.0.0.1:8080 and my application run on http://localhost:8080/myapp.
Can I have conflict on 8080 port?
Which other limitations has Oracle XE?
    Thanks in advance!

I Know that Oracle XE run on http://127.0.0.1:8080 and my application run on http://localhost:8080/myapp.
    localhost = 127.0.0.1
Can I have conflict on 8080 port?Yes. By default XE's HTTP occupies 8080 port. As two services cannot listening on the same IP and port you need to change it for one of services.
To change HTTP port for XE to 8081 (for example) just logon thru sqlplus (as sys or system) and execute:
exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport('8081');To verify the configuration execute:
    select dbms_xdb.gethttpport from dual;

  • How to install Essbase on your laptop from the Oracle Download site

    Hello everyone,
I am attempting to install the download version of Essbase on my laptop from the Oracle site. I have downloaded the following Essbase-11113 part 1, Essbase-11113 part 2, and APS-11113 part 3. However I am at a loss as to what to do next. I didn't see any executible files in the downloads all I see are xml documents and .dat files so I am completely lost as to how to install the system and get a working copy of Essbase running. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    EC

I too have it installed on a VM -- Windows 2003 -- and it's a 32 bit OS. If you do want to move it to your real desktop, you'll need a bunch of directories and environment variables from your successful 32 bit install to make it work, even for the client. I think XP should be okay for just Essbase and maybe EAS. You can always install Excel on the VM as well and just keep it entirely self-contained.
SmartView on 64 bit, if you're using Excel 2007, is a non starter; it does work with Excel 2003 and I think it's slated for a fix in 11.1.2.
If you're as hopeless as I am when it comes to installations, make sure you take plenty of snapshots so you can roll back to the last working instance. I did the whole stack on my VM, so I had lots of things to get wrong.
I think those who know what they're doing when it comes to installs don't see it as a challenge -- I'm a developer, not an installer, so I found it it be be gruesome (the full stack, 64 bit Essbase on the real iron).
    Good luck.
    Regards,
    Cameron Lackpour
P.S. Just to show that when it's all certified, it works, I was able to install AppliedOLAP's client (okay, Tim was watching over my shoulder, but still) on my Vista 64 bit without any trouble whatsoever. It worked like a charm.

  • Oracle Download

Is the download available on the website for 9i Personal Edition a full functioning copy? I need to review an Oracle database for a client and need to be able to access it for a day or tw oand was wondering if the download would allow this without a full license purchase.

The download is a fully functional copy. The download license agreement allows you to use the software for development purposes only. It's not clear to me whether what you're doing qualifies as development, though. You'd have to ask your resident lawyer about that.
