Oracle E-Business events - Launch worflow

Hi All,
Need some info regarding Oracle Workflow and E-Business Suite R12 events.
We have defined a business event in a E-Biz R12 and its subscription is of type ‘Launch Work Flow’ to launch a node(activity) of the work-flow. This activity is not the start node(activity) of the wf. Name of the activity is ‘Receive data’
‘Receive data’ is defined as an ‘receive-event’ type of activity. We’ll invoke the workflow from back-end, it will halt at the ‘Receive data’. When e-Biz event is raised, workflow will be resumed.
We’ll be running different instances of work-flow. So, how do I inform e-Biz event to resume a particular instance of work flow?
My assumption is:
Work-flow (wf) instances are distinguish based on item-key while e-Biz event takes event-key as an input parameter when it is raised. E-Biz event will match the event-key with item-key of workflow and resume the correct instance of wf. Is it correct?

Thanks Bhavesh for your inputs. But, I'm little bit confused.
We have defined 'Event Name', 'Event Key' attributes but they are of type 'Text'. Could you please inform me if I need to change the type?
Another question is regarding getting/fetching the parameters passed to e-Biz event in Work-flow. I want to fetch/get these parameters in the activity which is after 'Receive Data' Activity in my work flow.
Could you please help me in this regard?

Business Event System in Workflow

Hi,
I am having difficulties with the Business Event System (BES).
Actually, I've read the Oracle documentation about BES. Still I don't understand much.
There are little documentation about the BES, and I still get blank point.
Here are my questions :
1. What the Business Event System is?
2. Some of documentations show that using the BES, the workflow can interact with
different system.
What does 'different system' mean?
Does it mean to another computer (perhaps Client Server type)?
Or to another system (like headquarter which has several branches) located in
different location?
Or to another database service in the same computer (perhaps ORCL and ORCL2)?
Or with another database applications (i.e Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL)?
3. How do we use the BES?
How do we define BES?
Where do we use the BES?
Is it using PL/SQL?
Or the BES itself is a PL/SQL which is inside a procedure or function or trigger (used
to manipulate the database)?
What does the BES look like? Is it a PL/SQL code, an e-mail, or ...?
4. Some documentations said that using the Event (with Receive type) as a start node
(in Workflow Builder), the process will wait and respon <u>until</u> a Business
Event is detected?
How do we interact with BES?
How do we know what kind of BES to start the process?
Do we use the Oracle Advanced Queuing?
Is it using an e-mail to start the Event?
5. There is a statement from the "Feature Overview Oracel9i Application Server : Oracle Workflow" (from Oracle site)
"Business event messages from Oracle Workflow can be placed on or received from Oracle9i Advanced Queues, providing support for Oracle Net as well as HTTP and HTTPS communication protocols."
and
"The Business Event System uses Oracle Advanced Queuing to propagate messages between communication points on systems, called agents, using a specified protocol. Events received from external systems are processed by an agent listener that runs on the agent's queue."
Actually what the Advanced Queuing is?
Is it the mechanism of scheduling activites such as sending a message?
Is it use to start the Workflow Background Engine periodically?
What does the Events received from external system is? Is it an e-mail?
If it is True, so the workflow process could be start using an e-mail?
6. There is also a documentation stated that the Event can be raised using the PL/SQL WF_EVENT.Raise() API.
The Event also could be launch using the Workflow Home Page (Workflow monitor) in Event link?
So what does the BES is used for, if the Event could be launch using a PL/SQL?
Is the process of raising the Event called BES?
Such as a procedure to manipulate database tables that consist the WF_EVENT.Raise().
What is Generate Function is?
7. What Agent is?
What Subscription is?
What Event group is?
8. Perhaps there is a guide book of using the Business Event System?

I am in exactly the same position...
Have queued up my events using wf_event and the subscription is putting them in WF_OUT ok.
So, I guess that WF_OUT is a multisubscriber queue, so when we register with it in BPEL it asks for us to identify ourselves using the consumer and/or correlation ID.
However, I'm with you in that I have no idea how to specify the consumer.
There is a CORRID column in WF_OUT and I'm banking on that being the correlation ID at the moment....
I'll let you know if I crack it!

XSL Errors When Using AQ Adapter with EBS Business Events

I am triggering a BPEL process with an Oracle EBS Business Event. After receiving the event, I am trying to perform an XSL transformation to extract parameters from the event. However, I keep getting XSL errors because the BE field ERROR_SUBSCRIPTION comes in containing invalid XML characters (#).
It seems that BPEL or EBS do not properly escape the XML input. Is that a bug, or is there a way to work around this. I know I could filter the XML input in some way, but that seems likely to be more brittle to any future changes to the EBS BE message types.

Adding to the above post, how will the PL/SQL program which triggers the Business Event ensure that the complete data is enqueued in the queue in form of XML?
What will be the additional logic to send complete data in the XML format?

Business event issue

Hi,
I am invoking an oracle seeded business event oracle.apps.po.rcv.rcvtxn through Receiving Transaction.
This event should call a PL/SQL function. But I receive a notification in saying:
Event Error Name: WFE_DISPATCH_RULE_ERR
Event Error Message: 3825: Error '-4061 - ORA-04061: existing state of has been invalidated
ORA-04061: existing state of package "APPS.XX_PO_RCV_TXN_LABEL" has been invalidated
ORA-04065: not executed, altered or dropped package "APPS.XX_PO_RCV_TXN_LABEL"
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "APPS.XX_PO_RCV_TXN_LABEL"' encountered during execution of Rule function 'xx_po_rcv_txn_label.receive_business_event' for event 'oracle.apps.po.rcv.rcvtxn' with key '196017-13587'.
Event Error Stack:
Wf_Event.dispatch_internal()
I am sure that this message is incorrect as I changed the package name to XXRCVTXN and business event is still calling old package XX_PO_RCV_TXN_LABEL.
Secondly, when I resubmit this event through notification worklist in sysadmin responsibility, it completes successfully and does the intended processing.
Can someone please point out why this discrepency is there?

The message is correct: the original package XX_PO_RCV_TXN_LABEL has indeed been invalidated when you have recompiled it. The business event turns to an old version pf the package, ... but it has been flagged as invalid in the share pool. Even if you recompile, or even drop the package, the workflow system will still turn to the old package version.
What to do: restarting the application services will definitely solve the issue (providing, of course, that the new package version is in valid state). For a production system this will cause downtime, so you could try to restart the Workflow Deferred Notification Agent Listener and perhaps the Workflow Notification Mailer.

Need help in WMS Business Events

I am looking for a business event "Pick Load" which is mentioned as a standard business event in WMS but I am unable to find that business event in oracle workflow business events screen. I need the corresponding business event.
Can anyone help me on this please !!!

In r12.1.3 we have following business events when defining a concurrent program using Application developer or system administration responsibility
1. Request Submitted
2. Request on Hold
3. Request Resumed
4. Request Running
5. Program Completed
6. Post Processing Started
7. Post Processing Ended
8. Request Completed.Question:
What is the significance of above business events and how can we use it? Is there a documentation outlining each one of above events in detail? Is there any working example?

Tp3 Business Events - Coming Soon

We had been told by Oracle that Business Events in the the 11i applications were being replaced by database adapters, but on the Jdev11g TP3 start screen under integration, it says Business Events - Coming soon. Anyone know what this is? db adapters or something else?

The Business Events that are referred to in JDev 11 are for the Oracle SOA Suite architecture - they are not part of EBS 11i.
Those are two separate things.

Raise a Business Event When Invoice to PO Matching is Done

Hello,
There is a business requirement to capture when an invoice is matched to a PO in real time. By "capture" I mean queue an XML message containing the invoice number, PO number and the date when matched was done.
I have searched the integration repository for an Oracle supplied business event that is triggered on PO matching but I could not find any.
Any suggestions on how to implement a solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

One option is to write a custom trigger that fires on insert/update to ap_invoice_distributions_all table.
The condition to check is "po_distribution_id is not null"
If near real-time is ok, then you can have the trigger update a DFF on the ap_invoice_distributions_all to Y.
And then you have another process that runs every x minutes. The process looks for all records with DFF=Y; forms and sends an XML message and then set the DFF=N.
If you must have real-time, then the trigger needs to form and send an XML.

Launch Custom Workflow thru Business Event

My requirement is to launch a Workflow Approval process after creating a Transaction Record in Oracle Apps.
(1) Is it a good practice to invoke the custom workflow (from PLSQL) from a database trigger on the TRX table?
(2) Instead, can I define an event or use a pre-defined business event to invoke my customer WF?
(3) If so, is it sufficient while defining "Event Subscription", just set action type "Launch Workflow" and set workflow details? or do I still need to define an Receive Event Activity in my customer WF?

Hi,
1 - It's probably neither here nor there, to be honest. If it can be avoided, then I would always avoid launching a process from a trigger. However, you may have no other choice than to fire the workflow from a trigger - bear in mind that you will need to defer the process to the background and run a background engine later to start the process off, as the first node will issue a savepoint which is not allowed in a trigger.
2 - Yes. If you are defining a custom event, you will still need to raise the event in some manner, though. If you can hook into a seeded event, then that's the best way to do it.
3 - The workflow process needs to have a receive event node to receive the event. If you are starting the process, then this needs to be set as a Start node. You will then have to ensure that the event gets raised.

Unable to configure Oracle Applications Adapter to capture Business Event

I am new to SOA and BPEL so please bare that in mind when reading and responding to this post.
I am attempting to trigger BPEL from an EBS business event as per the SOA gateway developers guide.
I am working on EBIZ R12.1.2, 11g weblogic, Jdev 11g release 1
Step 1. I have enabled the business event oracle.apps.per.api.employee.create_employee and created a subscription from the integration repository which I can see from the business events subscription window.
Step 2. I have created a new SOA project in JDev with an empty composite and added a BPEL process and called it createOrsResource.
Step 3. Following this I opened the BPEL process and added in an applications adapter and set this up to interact with the WSDL that I got from going through the adapter configuration wizard (i.e. selected the business event detailed above).
I then tried to compile and got the following error:
Error: Load of wsdl "createEmployeeEvent.wsdl with Message part element undefined in wsdl [file:/D:/jdev_home/mywork/IntegrationApplication/integrationExample/createEmployeeEvent.wsdl] part name = WF_EVENT_T type = {http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/APPS/createEmployeeEvent}WF_EVENT_T" failed
This is obviously something to do with the business event message type that materialized when I selected the business event in the Adapter Config Wizard.
I went back into the Apps Adapter and checked the config, when I clicked next .. next .. next etc... through the wizard just before hit the schema definition page I got the following error:
null file is either missing or is corrupt.
This schema defines the stricture of wf event. Wizard would not be able
to edit the service
Also when I tried to add an assign activity using the WF_EVENT_T as an input to another variable I got the following WF_EVENT_T node in the left mapping window:
Exception: Unable to parse schema APPS_WF_EVENT_T_createEmployeeEvent.xsd
Can anyone point me in the right direction???

It is tough enough to try and solve issues on certified/supported OS versions/hardware, let alone on uncertified/unsupported ones ;-)

How to create new or check current business event in Oracle INV/PO?

How can i define/create new business event related to items or suppliers?
I know we need to login to WF admin responsibility. But i just wanted to where we can able to create event from frontend and that too from inventory or purchasing responsibilities.
I have collected five from oracle.apps.inv.item realted to items and four related to suppliers.
Could you please help me in how to create Business events from frontend and that to from oracle inventory.. and even i would like to here some thing on trading partners setups also.

No, in this case, I'm using standard JSP with ADF and struts validator.
If I don't use struts validator and there are errors (such as putting a string into a number which produces a jbo-25009), the list value will be retained.
When using the validator, it appears that it is NOT retained.
I've written some code to attempt to set the list element back, which "looks like" it's working right now.
There's still a problem with the second scenario:
1. user clicks checkbox and hits [submit]
2. get's error - you have to enter 5 address items
3. User wants to backout, so he unchecks the box and resubmits
4. The box redisplays as "checked"
SO, at that point, I thought... can't I use YOUR EXAMPLE on how to handle a checkbox.
I place some code in the reset method of the form to perform this:

(that is, I've detected via the request that this flag is null), so I'm trying to make sure it retains it!
I do that and it runs into a problem during the processUpdateModel aT:

How to get Business Event Data in Oracle Apps?

The WorkFlow 2.6.2 Guide states that the XML Get Tag Value activity used to retrieve data from the contents of an event message is available only for the standalone version of Oracle WorkFlow. How do you retrieve the data from the event message using WorkFlow integrated with the Oracle Applications?

You have 2 choices:
1) You could access it programmatically by writing your own Workflow Function Activity using PL/SQL.
2) Oracle XML Gateway gives you the ability to create XML and consume XML documents using the Workflow Business Event System.

Autocreate task raise business event oracle.apps.jtf.cac.task.createTask?

Hi All!
How can I check if event oracle.apps.jtf.cac.task.createTask was raised when a task was created?
This event will raise every time a task is created independent of which process created the task? I mean if the task was automatically created when SR is created or if the task is manually created?
How can I test this business event manually?
In our environment (EBS 11.5.10.2) there are following subscriptions to this business event:
CS_SR_SECURITY_UTIL.SECURE_SR_TASK_OWNER
jtf_task_wf_subscribe_pvt.create_task_notif_subs
CS_SR_CHILD_AUDIT_PKG.CS_SR_Audit_ChildEntities
I have added subscription xxcsf_002_wf_subscribe_pkg.create_task, which calls to function (create_task) in a DB package (xxcsf_002_wf_subscribe_pkg). The first thing I do, before anything else, is logg to a custom table the event of entering the package function but then when task is created in "Enter Request Service" form nothing is logged in the custom table.
What am I doing worng? Thanks in advance for the help!

The sql returned 0 so that means the event is not fired. How do I make it fire. Isn't it standard? Is there some setup I have to do or enabled somewhere? I have this requierement to create automatically an assignment for tasks automatically created when SR is created in Field Service Technician Portal. I thought I could create the assignment when this business event is raised, which means a task is being created and validating where it is originated from (WEB). I need to set scheduled dates for the task as well. I appreciate the help in this. I would like to use the business event to call on a package function but it is not being fired.

Business Event ORACLE.APPS.PER.API.ASSIGNMENT.UPDATE_EMP_ASG_CRITERIA

According to Document id 1402385.1 , I have subscribed the business event ORACLE.APPS.PER.API.ASSIGNMENT.UPDATE_EMP_ASG_CRITERIA with a synchronous subscription with a phase 99. It is calling an extension which in turn calling hr_assignment_api.update_emp_asg api to update assignment details. Now it is working fine in Oracle forms.
But when the same operation is being done in SSHR Pages for Manager Self Service responsibility the process could not be completed due to the following error.
" The HR object is invalid Cause: The HR object which is attempted to be locked is inconsistent with the corresponding object in the HR Schema. Action: Retry the action with the correct object version number. " As the SSHR page do validation in P_VALIDATE= TRUE mode so this error is occurring.
Now i tried to analyse the XML file generated by the business event. But I am not able to find whether it is being called as P_VALIDATE = TRUE or FALSE I want to know how to check whether the business event is called in TRUE mode or FALSE mode.

The problem is that I am trying to call a custom function through this business event which in turn is calling HR_ASSIGNMENT_API.UPDATE_EMP_ASG.
Now when I am changing job or position in SSHR page it is validating the data I entered. So while validating they call that business event too. Now entering into that custom function it cannot decide whether the API should be called in P_VALIDATE=FALSE mode or P_VALIDATE=TRUE mode.
So I am trying to know whether is there any way to know P_VALIDATE mode when the business event is fired.
