Hi,
Try to download from a difference machine and/or using a different browser.
For large downloads, or for functionality such as download resuming, the use of a download manager is highly recommended.

  • How to build a Oracle style Web site

    Dear All,
(Not sure whether this question should be this sub-site or not.)
My question is how to build a Oracle style Web site, what technology should be use.
    Example Site: [http://www.orapub.net/ebs/index.htm|http://www.orapub.net/ebs/index.htm]
This web site style is like Oracle Enterprise Manager.
    Thanks a lot
    Pan

You can use Oracle Webcenter or just Oracle ADF to build a Oracle Enterprise Manager kind of Website.

  • Oracle's web site is one of the most frustrating I have ever used

    Hi,
There are two major issues with oracles main web site: lack of consistency and lack of information.
I would challenge anyone to draw any sort of coherent information architecture map of the oracle property. It would be a dogs breakfast because there is no consistency in how the site is laid out. Consequently a new user has no idea where to go to get the information you want. Sometimes you are directed to downloads from landing pages and other times its more product information. But it's rarely what you expect.
Secondly, take for example the download a the BPEL Process Manager for JBoss. I can't even find that page now where I downloaded it from... But, nowhere in the download page, and nowhere in the 100+MB download is there any explanation of what JBoss versions are supported. Just unbelievable.
If I did not have to use the web site, I would never go near it!
    Cheers,
    The Captn.

Actually, I find there is an amazing amount of consistency. I believe that Oracle's technology web face is organized as a set of portals. Let me walk you through an example:
Start at Oracle's main tech page, Oracle Technet at http://otn.oracle.com . That page, and virtually all those below, are organized as follows:
Top banner - log in, search (not particularily good),
Top shortcuts - quick links to First glance, Download, Documentation, Forums, Samples and Tutorial portals
Left nav bar - Product, Technology (overlapping product or OSS), Architecture, Community portals by category
Right Nav bar - Portal specific navigation to docs, demos, downloads, tutorials, etc.
Center - the actual content of this portal
So, if I'm looking for BPM for JBoss, knowing that's a middeware product, I'd go to the Left Nav bar, Products: Middleware to get to the Middleware portal.
That portal has the same general layout as above, so I concentrate on the center section. Just below the enormous (and confusing) picture, I notice the Fusion Middleware Family links which includes BPEL Process Manager. Click to get to that portal, and
That portal has the same general layout as above. This one's an end portal as it's got references to documentation, downloads, and white papers. It's may have the information I'm looking for. In fact, it's got the link to the download page you want.
On that download page, I note, close to the bottom is an older download of BPM for JBoss, and it specifies "Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.2.0.2 for JBOSS (v3.2.6) ". That is the older one, so I assume the newer download is either for that version or a newer version.
Aside from that, some of Oracle's better kept secrets are their Certification Matrices. In general, you could check http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html and for App Server matrix, look at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle_soa_certification_101310.html
    Hope that helps.

  • Web Site Hosting in Oracle HTTP Server

    Hi All,
We have an application based on Oracle UCM. We are accessing that application using the url http://site_name/GMKP/index.htm . I have done virtual hosing (name based) with HTTP Server to host multiple web sites. One requirement is we need to access our application using url http://site_name/gmkp/index.htm . How can we do that? Please let me know a solution for this. Do we have to write some rewrite rule for this?
    Thanks,
    Manikandan

Look into mod_rewrite with a .htaccess file. You turn it on in httpd.conf.
There is a pretty nice instruction at http://www.addedbytes.com/for-beginners/url-rewriting-for-beginners/

  • Oracle web site - Your site needs help

I somewhat new Oracle and being a developer for years and using software vendor web sites to get things can be challenging.
However, Oracle is one of the worst web sites I have ever seen.
I am trying to download the Oracel Client (Yeah...where the heck is it??) and haven't found it for over 30 minutes.
Searching your site really stinks...it's awful!!!!!
    Finding anything is like...well...you can't!
Do yourself AND especially your client(s) a favor...Make your web site easy to use...it really needs help.

I have too very really frustated by Oracle Website for several years. Just today I was trying to download the Oracle personal edition, and putting 'download' or 'oracle personal edition' in the search box, and the results are mainly white papers and tech docs. The menu option also are not really hepful, neither the site-map.
So after 30 mins, i finally got to what i was looking for. The thing is that while trying to get to the page, you get lost in the Oracle 'labyrinth' web-site and come across several interesting docs ( which i wont understand everything anyway). Its like going to the supermarket for an advertised product at $10 and you get out of the supermarket with lots of stuff at $300 you were not aiming to buy at first.
Got my point ...well, I think Oracle wants to keep its website as it is. A company like Oracle does not lack resources to develop a more modern, easy-to-use and quick web-site. Certainly, the website handles a lot of info and lays on Oracle Portal ( if am right) but am sure Oracle does not lack database /application server and expertise to make it quicker and better !!

  • How to Generate a Report Based on User's Parameters from Web Site

    Hi, all,
I am trying to use Oracle Developer 6.0 Report Builder to generate report based on what user types in from the web site. Since I am a novice, I am wondering if anybody would help me with the following questions:
    1. How can I create a report based on user's parameters?
Assuming that I have 2 text fields EMPNO and DEPT on the web site, after user types in some value, how can I pass these parameters into my query, can I do something like:
select ENAME, JOB, EADDRESS from EMP
    where EMPNO =
    some_reference_of_parameters_from_user
or is there any other way to achieve this functionality?
    2. How can I pass a PDF format report back to user after the report is generated?
    Any help is greately appreciated!!
    Best regards.
    Judy

    Hello,
In the Report Builder, create two user parameters, and set the parameter name, datatype, width, and default values to what you want. Modify the query and put in a where clause (e.g., where deptno = :p_deptno). When you request the report with PARAMFORM=YES on the URL, it'll generate a default parameter form in HTML and allow the user to enter in the selected parameter values. Also set DESTYPE=CACHE&DESFORMAT=PDF on the URL to get the output back as PDF.
If you upgrade to Reports 6i, you can customize the default HTML parameter form.

  • Does anyone know how to get Google Spider to read a JSF ADF web site???

This is a re-post, but we really need help here. We've created a great Internet site using JDeveloper and JSF (www.sidehire.com), but the Google spider cannot read the site or index it. This is hurting our business because customers can not find our site. Can anyone help?
We are trying to get our Jdev 10.1.3.1-developed JSF/.jspx web site running on Apache/Tomcat to be crawled by the Google search engine (without success so far.)
We've read that the Google crawler will see our page the same way the Lynx Text Browser sees our page (see: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35156&query=lynx&topic=&type=). When we point the lynx text browser at the home page for our site which is a .jspx page executed through the ADF Faces filter, the lynx browser shows a HTTP status 500 initially caused by:
    java.lang.NullPointerException oracle.adf.internal.view.faces.ui.laf.base.xhtml.XhtmlLafRendere.renderStyleClassAttributes (XhtmlLafRenderer.java:691)
    oracle.adf.internal.view.faces.ui.laf.oracle.desktp.HeaderRenderer.prerender(HeaderRenderer.java:334)
etc. (sorry can't post entire trace right now)
Any ideas / advice around getting a .jspx / JSF application to successfully be crawled by the Google Search Engine?
Is this related to the renderer? Does anyone have experience with Google indexing a JSF website?
    thanks

Is the issue related to oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.. classes supporting a Lynx user-agent? If so, this would be very bad because Google will not index your web site if it can't crawl it.

  • Links to External Web Sites

    I'm using Authorware 7 in a Windows 2000/XP environment. I
have a series of AW pieces that were originally created to run on
our intranet. Now, I'm trying to convert them to CD versions.
Consequently, I'm going through and changing all my GoToNetPage's
to JumpOutReturn's. That works fine for the documents, SWF files,
and WMV files. However, when I try to use JumpOutReturn on external
Web sites, they fail. Specifically, if I use something like
    JumpOutReturn("","
    http://www.studygs.net/"), a
dialog box opens with "Where is the EXE for ? " in the title bar.
In desparation, I've also tried JumpOutReturn("iexplore.exe","
    http://www.studygs.net/"), and
that opens Internet Explorer, but it opens Internet Explorer to its
    home page,
not to the specified Web site. (I really don't want to do
that, anyway, because these CDs are for external distribution, and
I don't have control over which browser they will be using.) I
suppose I could get around this by publishing for the Web player,
rather than publishing with runtime, but I'm trying to avoid that
because I don't want these external folks to have to download and
install the AW player. I'm hoping someone has found a resolution
    for this problem!

Try adding the page and extension to the URL?
    JumpOutReturn("","
    http://www.studygs.net/index.htm")
The .htm (or whatever extension) may help it find the default
    browser?
This is a problem often noted on Mac delivery but not so
    common on Windows.
If you can't get it to work, try baOpenURL (I think it is)
    from buddyAPI
    http://www.mods.com.au
And Steve's suggestion too, of course.

  • Any test web sites to insure browser/Flash player/other is adequate for all Captivate content

My prior subject header was a little confusing, so I hope it's okay I start over again and state more clearly what I need.
I have hundreds of users accessing Adobe Captivate 5.5 training.  Many users have no trouble viewing the content.  SOME users have trouble, specifically when viewing a video inserted into the training.  It just won't play for them.  These users have different browsers, so it would seem the type of browser is not an issue.
What I am hoping for is ...
a web site that lets users know they have everything needed to run any content within a Captivate session.  For example, as you know, Adobe has a web site to inform the user what version of Flash Player they have (if any).  I would be great to have a site that would let the user know if they meet the minimum requirements (not just Flash Player) to participate successfully in a training.
Is anyone aware of such a site?  Or have ideas on how to build one?
Thank you, and I'm sorry for not being clearer on the prior post.
    Best regards,
    Mark

Captivate outputs (generally) as Flash. So as long as users have a recent version of the Flash player, they should technically be able to play back the content.
However, of course, online delivery depends on the user's internet connection. What if you're feeding them video and their connection is slow?
For similar concerns, we point our users to speedtest.net and ask them to post their results. Sometimes that helps illustrate their slow connection means a slow video delivery.
And, of course, the older the computer, the less-fast it'll be in rendering the course. My oldest computer, used occasionally and with frustration by my 5 y/old, plays Flash sites horribly - and it's a 1.6ghz computer with 512mb RAM and XP...with latest browsers and Flash player. You can always ask for their computer spec, but that's not an easy thing to determine via software/website.
So you can create a simple 'minimum requirements' page that you can point to...but one that actually does a diagnostic...well, aside from simple Flash player/version detection (which is fairly simple), that's a complex task.

  • IAS for non Database based web site

We are using IAS for our website using Oracle Forms/Reports and Oracle databse 8i.
We have now to develop small websites in pure HTML (no java, no Oracle Forms), we are wondering if it is still a good option to use IAS as the web server for those applications. If yes, do we simply have to define a new application in IAS but without connection string to a database?
Same questions for web site based on Oracle 8i databse and JSP (without any Oracle forms and reports)

    Hi,
Yes, you can do that by creating a new custom folder that will contain the following sql:
    select 'W' Flag_lov from dual
    union all
    select 'F' Flag from dual
    union all
    select 'M' Flag from dual
    union all
    select 'D' Flag from dual
Then cerate an item class on that field and associate it with the "Flag" field from the original folder you use in the report.
In the process of the item class creation you can select the items that will use that item class ("Flag").
Now when you'll run the workbook you'll get the LOV for the flag.
Also after you finished the configuration i suggest that you'll hide the custom folder you just created since it has no use for the users. you can do that by going to the folder properties and change the "Visible to User" to "Yes".

  • Recommended OPEN CURSORS setting for Oracle serving a web app

    G'day
Hopefully Phil is still lurking here, so might see this.  Or anyone else that knows about Oracle.
I've always thought the default for "maximum pooled statements" setting for an Oracle DSN - which is 300 - is way too low to be sensible for a web app (which, let's face it, any CF DSN is going to be used for!).  I usually find I end up with it up around 1000-2000, depending on the sizeof the app, and how busy it is.
I'm adequate with monkeying around with Oracle, and have needed to do a moderate bit of that sort of thing in our dev environment, but I am by no means a DBA, so it's all very seat-of-the-pants.
So I'm keen to know what other people have their maximum pooled statements / open cursors setting set to for their Oracle-driven web sites/apps.
One of the reasons I'm asking is that I wonder if it might be worth while to suggest the default for CF9 is upped to 1000 or so..?
    Thoughts / comment?
    Adam

I personally would not set the limit any higher than 300, and I'd consider keeping it even lower.
Each pooled query / open connection is imposing resource-burdens on both the CF and the Oracle servers by creating what might be thought of as "a very crowded restaurant."  Most of them are just standing around, but they nevertheless are occupying the restaurant, and the potential exists that every one of them might try to order a burger-and-fries at exactly the same time.
The "number of pooled statements" should be such that your SQL-server can actually handle that number of simultaneous requests, both in terms of active searches and of maintaining the still-open result sets.  Beyond that point, incoming web requests should be forced to wait.  Set an "occupancy limit" to your proverbial restaurant such that everyone could come in and be timely served at the same time.
Categorically, if you plot out response-time graphs about such things (SQL servers, virtual memory subsystems, and so on), they exhibit a fairly-linear performance curve up to a point, after which "the elbow- or knee-point is reached" and beyond that point it becomes exponential in a very, very bad way.  I saw this happen in a batch-processing subsystem long ago on a very small mainframe:  (yeah, I'm makin' these numbers up...)
    Number of Jobs at Once
    Completion Time per Job
    1
    30 seconds
    3
    40 seconds
    8
    9 minutes
    12
    4.5 hours
It was just-about that bad.  And what I did to (dramatically...) address the problem was to impose simultaneous-job limits on that subsystem.  As long as the number of simultaneous jobs was constrained to "less than 3 at a time," a workload of 12 jobs could be reliably completed in (4 * 40) seconds, whereas if all 12 jobs tried to run at once, the computer would have reason to file a lawsuit for abuse.

    No Java for Android yet.
The Oracle vs. Google Android lawsuit does not help either.

  • Usage of ocp log on personal web site

I have completed my oracle 10g OCP certification, I would like to use 10g ocp logo on my personal web site, is it ok to use 10g ocp log on personal web site? Does it mean i am violating rules what oracle corp. decided if i use oracle 10g on my personal web site, Please suggest me as required.

    HI,
You must have received a success kit with the username and password for the logo. That particular website depicts the regulations on using logo. You can very well use it on any document/site/blog which belongs to you.
