Oracle EM 12c - Host Administration problems
Hello,
I'm trying to do certain administrative tasks on a host target. However, when for instance, I klick to "Host" -> "Administration" -> "Services", I get:
"Required Installations
To administer a host through Enterprise Manager, you will need to install the following scripts. Follow the steps below and click 'Finish' button when you are done."
Same goes for "Host" -> "Administration" -> "NFS Client" or "Host" -> "Administration" -> "Host Lookup Table" or other administrative tasks.
My target host is an OL 6 VM, on which I installed YAST, according to the initial error message and some notes I've found so far. However, apart from getting passed the initial message that I had to install YAST, it really didn't accomplish much.
Any help appreciated,
Mike
Hi,
thanks for your help. I uninstalled yast/yast2 and executed the script you pointed me to. The script executed with some warnings but installed the missing components as far as I can tell:

Re: Oracle ODAC 12c Release 3 32-bit supports EF 6.x?
I am also facing same problem with latest ODP.NET. Our existing application with 11G and EF 4.3 DB first worked very well. We need to migrate our application from 11G to 12C. But its showstopper for us to proceed. Please help us.
My environment details
Latest Oracle ODAC 12c Release 3 - 32-bit released on 24-Dec-2014
Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 - 32 Bit on Windows 8.1 64 bit OS
Entity Framework 6.1.31219.0 (EntityFramework.6.1.2)
I have tried with .Net framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2.
The latest EntityFramework.dll (6.1.31219.0) added to project reference, EF 6.x option alone comes also getting greyed out.
If I remove EntityFramework.dll from project reference, getting only option to use EF 5.0
Tried various config file changes, different versions of EF (6+), also tried reverting to ODAC 12c Release 3 Beta. I could not make it working 12c ODP.Net with EF 6+ DB first.
Please suggest us the ideal environment for 12c ODP.Net with EF 6+ DB first.
ThanksHave you set the entityFramework correctly in the local app.config/web.config? You need to set it both in any libraries using the code and in the deployed application.
And - how is the system.data/DbProviderFactories in the correct machine.config? You either have to have it set in the correct machine.config or the local app.config/web.config files.
Here's my working local config file, using the 12c R3 release version dll's and the managed drivers:
<configSections>
<section name="entityFramework" type="System.Data.Entity.Internal.ConfigFile.EntityFrameworkSection, EntityFramework, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" requirePermission="false" />

WebUtil: oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found
Hi. This is my first attempt using WebUtil. The following code is in my When-New-Form-Instance trigger:
client_host('N:\TTMS\ITS\vbasic\compiled\MenuUpdate.exe');
This is the error I receive:
oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found
I've included my formsweb.cfg below for your reference. Note that the application is using the [ttmsmenu] configuration.
Thanks in advance for your help with this problem.
***FORMSWEB.CFG***
# $Id: formsweb.cfg 15-apr-2005.13:17:30 pkuhn Exp $
# formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
# This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
# following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
# values here will be used.
# The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
# which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
# Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
# SYSTEM PARAMETERS
# These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms
# Servlet in order to function. They cannot be specified in the URL query
# string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
# Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
# they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
# is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
# USER PARAMETERS
# These match variables (e.g. %form%) in the baseHTML file. Their values
# may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string
# (e.g. "http://myhost.mydomain.com/forms/frmservlet?form=myform&width=700")
# or by overriding them in a specific, named configuration (see below)

I was running this form out of Form Builder 10g. At some point I changed the Application Server URL (Edit => Preferences => Runtime menus) from:
http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=ttmsmenu
to:

So my customized configuration with all the WebUtil references was not being referenced and I was getting the error.

Communication from the Oracle Mngt service host to the agent host failed
Hi There,
I have installed Oracle 10.2.0.1 Grid software on a Solaris Zone. I plan to upgrade it to 10.2.0.5 very soon but would like to test the agent connection from a remote server first. I installed agent version 10.2.0.5 on the remote server. When I log into the oracle grid GUI I can see the host called "localhost" (this is not the correct name. It should be the server name) and the database instances on that server. However, when I select the localhost and press the configure button I get the following message:
Communication from the Oracle Mngt service host to the agent host failed. Refer to help for details localhost:cn=servername
The system administrators changed the /etc/hosts file to make sure the server was listed first fully qualified. For example: servername.domain.com instead of servername. However, this did no make a difference.
Could the issue be any of the following:
- Oracle 10.2.0.1 GRID does not work with 10.2.0.5 agents ?
- Oracle GRID in general don't work on SOLARIS Zones?
Please help.
Thanks.OMS - -> Agent communication is not upward compatible
Downward, so Agent 10.2.0.1 --> OMS 10.2.0.5, should not be a problem.
In the last case however, you would not have access to any 10.2.0.5 Agent features.
So you can choose from 2 working options:
1 - Install the 10.2.0.1 Agent
2 - Upgrade your OMS to 10.2.0.5 (preferable)

Rob

Is Biztalk server 2013 will support Oracle database 12c?
Hi,
Can anyone suggest me whether Biztalk 2013 will support Oracle 12c?1) Someone had suggested that the recent webcast with Larry Ellison would be about Database 12c, but that didn't make sense because the other presenter in the webcast was the head of SPARC.
2) Amazon is taking orders for a book called Pro Oracle Database 12c Administration that is supposed to be published on April 17th.
3) Apress Books has two titles announced for mid-May.
I would assume that those books cannot be published before the product is released, so those dates might provide some indication.

Oracle database 12c on Windows Server 2012
Hello,
Is it Oracle database 12c compatible with Windows Server 2012. What are the system requirements needed for Windows server 2012 on Oracle database 12c?
Thanks
VoittoHi Voitto,
Actually , it is not a windows related question .
But I found some infomation :
Oracle Database for Windows x64 is supported on the following operating systems:
Windows Server 2008 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 - Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, Web, and Foundation editions.
Windows 7 x64 - Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions
Windows 8 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64 - Pro and Enterprise editions
Windows Server 2012 x64 and Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 - Standard, Datacenter, Essentials, and Foundation editions

Oracle BI Java host not starting for Windows 7 64 bit
Hi,
I am struggling to start "Oracle BI Java host" on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. All other services - BI Server, Presentation Server and even OC4J works good.
BI Version: OBIEE 10g EE - 10.1.3.4.1
I have checked these places:
1. Environment variable: C:\Java\jdk\bin;
2. Instanceconfig.xml: *<JavaHome>C:\Java\jdk</JavaHome>*
3. Java verision: *6.0.230.5*
Can anyone help me to identify and solve this issues.
Thanks,
Yar.
Edited by: Yar on Mar 9, 2011 7:11 AMHi Yar,
You can try changing the Heap memory allocation parameter for Javahost at <OBI Install Directory>\instances\instance_Number\config\OPMN\opmn\opmn.xml file...
Search for -Xmx1024M and replace with -Xmx768M, save the file and Start the JavaHost, it should work.

How to set JDBC Data Sources in Oracle MapViewer for Oracle database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)?
The following is my configuration in the conf\mapViewerConfig.xml:
<map_data_source name="mvdemo12"
jdbc_host="127.0.0.1"
jdbc_sid="orcl12c1"
jdbc_port="1522"
jdbc_user="mvdemo"
jdbc_password="7OVl2rJ+hOYxG5T3vKJQb+hW4NPgy9EN"
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="3"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="true"
editable="true"/>
<!-- **** -->
But it does not work.
After use "sqlplus mvdemo/[email protected]:1522/pdborcl", it connected to the Oracle database 12c.
Does anyone know it?
Thanks,For 11.1.1.7.1 use the syntax for jdbc_sid, i.e.
//mypdb1.foo.com as described in the README,
- MapViewer native (non-container) data sources can now use database service name in place of SID. To supply a db service name, you will use the same jdbc_sid attribute, but specify the service name with double slashes in front, such as follows:
<map_data_source name="myds"
jdbc_host="foo.com"
jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com"
jdbc_port="1522"
/>
For 11.1.1.7.0 use a container_ds instead.
i.e. instead of using
<map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
jdbc_host="mydbinstance"
jdbc_sid="pdborcl12c"
jdbc_port="1522"
jdbc_user="mytestuser"
jdbc_password="m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q="
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="6"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
editable="false"
/>
use
<map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
container_ds="jdbc/db12c"
number_of_mappers="6"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
editable="false"
/>
In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition was
Property
url jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name
Uncheck the Wrap JDBC Objects option in Advanced panel, i.e. the Edit JDBC Connection Pool Advanced properties page.
Add a JDBC resource for that newly created pool
Use that in mapviewerconfig.xml as above -
i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?
I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents). BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
.... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
- This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.
- Confirmation from Brandye
- Confirmation from an Oracle Certification Support Web Ticket ( http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP )
... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054. I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version. ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts. -
hello,
i would like to know if AWM 11.2.0.3.0A works against with oracle database 12c in pdb mode or not .
regards
jmI have attempted to connect 11g versions of AWM to 12c and get this error:
'This version of Analytic Workspace Manager is incompatible with the database instance. The Analytic Workspace Manager version is 11.2.0.3.0 and the database compatible version is 12.1.0.0.0'
So unfortunately it is not compatible, and there is currently no AWM for 12c
I also contacted Oracle support and they wont give me any information about a release date or any information on the xml template specification for 12c.
I guess we will just have to wait till they release a version of AWM that supports 12c...

Oracle External Table SELECT FROM problem from workstation
At Solaris Oracle database server console.
Created directory on the Solaris server as Oracle owner.
As SYS created oracle directory object on that Solaris directory
Granted read/write to SCHEMA_OWNER on that oracle directory object.
Using OS Oracle user, moved a tab-delimited flat file into the Solaris directory.
Logged on a SCHEMA_OWNER using SQLPLUS on the Solaris database server.
Ran external table script in SQLPLUS.
External table was created.
Ran Select * from ext_table.
Appropriate dataset returned.
So at the Oracle Solaris server console,
the create external table script worked without errors,
and a select from statement on the external table worked without errors.
Move to developer workstation:
Logged on as SCHEMA_OWNER using SQLPLUS on Windows workstation.
TNSNAMES of course points to the Solaris database server.
Ran the external table script in SQLPLUS.
External table was created.
Ran Select * from ext_table.
This failed with these errors:
ORA29913 error executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
ORA29400 data cartridge error
cant open logfile.log
OS permission denied
ORA06512 sys.oracle_loader line 19
So how can I select from external tables from a windows workstation?
Any guidance on this problem would be appreciated.Thank you for your response.
I am not creating the external table on the workstation.
In both cases,
from the Solaris console
and from the Windows workstation
the external table is being created on the Solaris file system
in an Oracle Directory object
running an SQL script from SQLPLUS prompt.
The external table creator, schema owner, has read and write permissions
granted by SYS on the oracle directory object.
The problem is:
Logged in as the schema owner,
you can select * from ext_table from the Solaris console SQLPLUS,
but you can not select * from ext_table from the Windows workstation SQLPLUS.
You can DROP TABLE ext_table from the Windows workstation SQLPLUS.
You just cannot select * from ext_table from the Windows workstation SQLPLUS.
I guess as a test,
I can drop from the ext_table creation script the references
to discardfile, badfile, and logfile,
and remove this other file objects from the equation...
which appears to be a file permissions problem. -
Using Implicit REF Cursor in Oracle DB 12c
For those interested in using ODP.NET implicit REF Cursors in Oracle DB 12c, the syntax is different from what was available in Oracle 11g. Here's a 12c-specific example:
=======================
Create or Replace PROCEDURE GetEmpAndDept
AS
EMPS sys_refcursor;
DEPTS sys_refcursor;
BEGIN
OPEN EMPS for SELECT empno, ename from emp;
dbms_sql.return_result(EMPS);
OPEN DEPTS for SELECT deptno, dname from dept;
dbms_sql.return_result(DEPTS);
END;
=======================
// C#
OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection("User Id=scott; Password=tiger);
conn.Open(); // Open the connection to the database
// Create the command object for executing cmdTxt
OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("GetEmpAndDept", conn);
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
OracleDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
while(rdr.Read())
Console.WriteLine("{0}\t{1}", rdr.GetInt32(0), rdr.GetString(1) );
rdr.NextResult();
while(rdr.Read())
Console.WriteLine("{0}\t{1}", rdr.GetInt32(0), rdr.GetString(1) );i am using Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll v4.121.1.0
Oracle Data Base 12c
Visual Studio 2012 .net framework 4
But if I use Unmanaged Dll I get implicit results in my .net application.
