Oracle Email Server - Ofcguard problem

I always get ORA-28575 error from the log file after I start the ofcguard daemon. The oracle email server is install together with my 9ias in a machine where the 8i db server is on other server, I actaully have read the technet and metalink that provide the solution, but I don't understand I should modified which listener.ora or tnsnames.ora in my application server or my db server?
ckh :)

Pl post your full 10g version. What errors do the users experience (pl post full details of the error message) ? Is the issue easily reproducible ? Are any errors in the listener.log ?

  • Install Oracle Email Server

    Hi
I am trying to install Oracle Email Server in a e-Business Suite(LInux) environment.
    My system:
E-Business Suite 11.5.0 is installed in Linux
Oracle Email Server 5.2.0 is installed in Windows 2000 Server
And on my network I have a Exchange Server
My first problem is that I can’t find any Windows sendmail to connect my Oracle email Server. I have found a sendmail “copy”( http://www.indigostar.com/sendmail.htm) but only use command line to send/receive emails.
And Second, how to connect my Oracle Email Server to my Exchange network? Only a smtp/pop connector between the two will do?
If anyone can help it would be great.

    JailBreak

    Hi JailBreak!
I know that the 8.1.7 version of the database on Linux was not perfect.
The approach you took is somewhat valid but be aware that there are some issues (at least I hit them in my last project with HP-UX) where the combination of Oracle 9i with the ES 5.2.2 is tricky (need the patch libraries in the 9i tree and so on.
So my advise would be the following:
    - Install an 8.1.7 software tree - build no db yet (you already did this)
    - Install the ES 5.2 - do not run the imconfig yet
    - Install the ES 5.2 Patchset 2
    - Build a database
    - Run the imconfig
    - Configure sendmail
This will work! I did this so often I can guarantee you that this will work.
However be careful - the configuration of the EMail Center is very dificult and the documentation is somewhat vague about which values to fill in.
Try to have an english setup of the EMC as it makes life easier to compare the screens with the manuals.

  • Oracle Email Server 5.2 -- Email Server Understanding & Planning

Soon we plan to install Oracle Email Server 5.2 on our Compaq
machine running Tru64 Unix version 5.1. I was going through the
"Oracle eMail Server Release Notes Release 5.2 for Compaq Tru64 UNIX"
    (A87547-01) manual.
The manual mentions about "Oracle Email Server Understanding and
Planning Guide" on pp-3 & also "Oracle eMail Server Concepts Guide
Release 5.2" & "Email Server Messaging Developer's Guide Release
5.2" on pp-16. I could not find these manuals on "Oracle Email
    Server" CD.
Kindly suggest, where can I find these manual.

    You find it at

  • Oracle Email Server integration

Is there any way to integrate as portlets and using single sign-
on the Oracle Email Server? Something along the lines of the
Exchange portlets would be great, i.e., read access to email in
    a portlet.

    John,
    Your options:
1.Add the Email Server as an external application. You need the
web client. The client opens up in a new window
    2. Use an IFrame Portlet and pop the web client into it.
    My.Oracle.com works in this manner.

  • Oracle Report Server wierd problem

    Hi All,
I am facing very wierd problem with oracle report server.
I am using Oracle Report Server 10g R1. The problem I am facing is as under:
There is custom parameter form where user enters report filter criteria and press a button to create the report.
The problem is that report is giving output some times and sometimes it gives no output at all. Both the times, the parameters passed by user are same. The report executions are done for both runs one after other. We have tried to look in report server trace file but could not find anything. When report server fails to give any data in the report, at the same time, we have tried to execute the report query on SQL prompt and it did return data.
Can any one give any hint where the problem could be ?
    Thanks,
    Ramchandra Jetwani

    Hi,
When i used to get only one page the options like facing, continuous facing are disabled. And displays only single page.
These options are enabled only when there are multiple pages in pdf.
One more thing i found that it happens when I first view the report as pdf it displays
all the pages, then i change the display format to csv and again when i change
the format to pdf the problem starts.
And when I will restart the report server service, it works fine again until i wont view it in CSV format.

    hi,
it is much better to start your OAS this way:
    1. startup your repository database
    2. start the listener of your repository database
    3. at the home of your oas installation run this command:
    $ <oas_home>/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
    4. after the the opmn and services have started run this command:
    #$ <oas_home>/bin/emctl start iasconsole
    and there you go!!!
All these can be automated (and shutdown) by using the DBORA script provided by oracle.
use metalink to get a copy of dbora.

  • Email Server - guardian Problems

    Hi
I installed 9iAS Email on my Linux Server RED HAT 7.1. I created a new node.
I started the guardian (ofcguard) and the system told me that the guardian was started.
But when I want to get the status of the guardian (ofcguard status), the answer is: Status Down
Also, on oomgr, I can't start any processes.
Here my log for the guardian:
    04/09 09:00:31 INF: Guardian Version 5.2.0.0.28 started.
04/09 09:00:31 INF: Logged into database.
04/09 09:00:31 ERR: Failed to get database timezone information.
    Any Ideas ?
    Thanks
    Alain.

The email processes can't start because these processes don't get the signal of the guardian (ofcguard), but I don't know why. Like I said before, the system told me that the guardian was started.
    Please help me.
    Thanks!

  • Oracle App Server - Applet problem (HELP)

I have a problem with accessing an applet in placed in a sub directory from the webroot. Basically, I can run an applet successfully in my webroot. When the same applet is placed in a sub dir in the webroot, OAS can't resolve the path and can't find the class file. Here's how I specified my applet:
    <applet code=com.helloapplet width=200 height=50>
The helloapplet.class is in the "com" package and placed in the "com" dir under the webroot.
    I tried this also:
    <applet code="helloapplet.class" CODEBASE="com" width=200 height=50>
both with the helloapplet.class as part of the "com" package and with it as part of the default package in the "com" dir.
    Anyideas greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Try the following:
Move the RMI classes to applib directory instead of encapsulating it in the application. This will ensure that the classes are seen across applications so that whoever activates the RMI registry will not be the only one who can see the RMI classes, but other apps that needed to bind their own classes can see them as well.
Alternatively, you can add this in application.xml:
    <library path="<rmi class directory"/>
    or
<library path="<jar file that contains rmi classes (ex. rmiclass.jar)>"/>

  • C3-00 Email Server Problems

For the 6 months or so I've had the phone I've been able to access my ISP's email server no problem. Just entered my username and password and everything worked well.  My ISP is now offered an updated webmail which included config settings for MS Exchange server to allow smart devices to sync. This has to be enabled in the webmail settings , I haven't done that yet...I'm still using the 'old ' pop3 settings.
i can sign in and retrieve mail using the current settings but I can't reply or send mail. The message fails. I would like to know if it's possible to access the settings for the current config ( outgoing server  / port settings etc ) so I can try to reconfigure those if necessary  OR  Does my C3 running V 08.63 support MS Exchange and if so , where can I access the settings ?  Any suggestions appreciated ( although upgrading to a new phone seems to be the obvious answer..)  TIA

    Hi Lilys_Dad,
Unfortunately Nokia C3 does not support Mail for Exchange, so you cannot connect to the Exchange server on this phone.

  • Starting guardian process for eMail server

I've installed a new database, with the standard settings given on the install CD, and the Oracle eMail server on a Windows 2000 os.
The problem starts when try to start the email server node's guardian. I have to submit the Service Name, the database name in the TNSNAME.ora. When I try to save the value I get the following error message: "oracle.io.admin.common.PropertyException".
What does that mean and what should I do to get the service running?

    I have the similar problems.
    Conditions:
I tried to install Oracle EMail Server v5.1 (the package was downloaded
    from these URL:
    basic: http://technet.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?email51nt-full
    patch set: http://technet.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?es51patch2nt )
on the machine with the following configuration:
    Hardware:
Intel Pentium III 600MHz, 512Mb RAM, 30Gb IDE HDD, 20Gb free on
    destination volume.
    Software:
OS WindowsNT 4.0 Server Service Pack 4
    and following Oracle products installed:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition 8.1.6.0.0 (installation option - typical)
    Oracle Portal 3.0.6.3.3
    Oracle Internet File System 1.0.8.1.0
Resulting messaging system must consist of one TCP/IP node, that is all
EMail processes (possibly except Sendmail, see questions below) will run
on the same machine. This node also must be the configuration node.
Installation of EMail Server (default option - includes all products)
performs well, installing server into the same OracleHome, as the
    Oracle8i Enterprise is located in.
The configuration options are as follows:
    Create a new node
Create a custom Email Server node
Yes - this is the first Email Server node that I am installing
Timezone selected - (GMT +3:00) Russian Standard Time
    Enabled servers:
    POP3
    POP3 using SSL
Yes - I want to enable SMTP gateway on this machine
Define and configure a new gateway
No - I don't want to enable the LDAP access on this machine
Yes - I have an existing database
Further configuration, including creation of all needed database
objects and Windows NT service (named OracleInternetMessaging<SID>),
    also performs nice.
After these steps (installing and configuring) I tried to run
OracleInternetMessaging<SID> service from Windows NT services window
(Oracle database and TNSListener services were launched earlier).
    Launch failed with error message:
    'The OracleInternetMessaging<SID> service returned service-specific error 1.'
Then I tried to start Email Server manually as described in installation
guide (section postinstallation). ofcguard command reported that
    guardian had started, but command
    'ofcguard status'
    returned following string
    'Status down'
When I inspected log file, located in directory %ORACLE_HOME%\office\log\<SID>,
    I found there following lines:
    01/11 13:12:00 INF: Guardian Version 5.1.0.1.51 started.
01/11 13:12:00 INF: Logged into database.
01/11 13:12:00 ERR: Failed to get database timezone information.
What is the reason of these problems?
Could you answer these questions also:
    1. In postinstall section of installation guide is written that setup
makes changes in file tnsnames.ora. But I didn't found any changes
in it. But setup placed in the directory
    %ORACLE_HOME%\office\admin\samples
another file, that consists of old tnsnames.ora and several new lines,
    something like this:
    crocus.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = crocus)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = CROCUS)
    crocus_guardian.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = crocus)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = GUARDIAN)
Should I place this new file instead my old tnsnames.ora (I did it,
but it had no effect), or what shuld I do else?
NB: Something similar occurs with listener.ora file.
    2. Problem with Sendmail: From Oracle Email Server installation
guide I concluded that Email Server uses in its work Sendmail
through properly configured SMTP gateway. The question is:
Sendmail itself must run on the same machine as Oracle Email
Server or it may run on another computer in the network?
If Sendmail MUST run on the same machine as Email Server,
then where I can get REAL Sendmail for Windows NT platform?
I found several Sendmail's for NT, but all of them can only
send messages from the command line. None of them is able to
run as NT service to handle inbound and outbound mail traff ic.
    3. In the Oracle Email Server administration guide (chapter #19 -
'Error Codes and Messages', item 'Messaging Server Messages',
error DA-10505 - 'Could not start server processes.') the
dbms_alarm package is mentioned. I don't have this package
installed at the moment. I didn't find any references to it
in Oracle documentation also. But my installation of Oracle 8i
Enterprise now includes the dbms_alert package. Maybe dbms_alarm
is a typing error and dbms_alert must be in its place in
Administration guide? If I'm wrong and documentation is OK,
then the question is: should I really have the dbms_alarm
package installed and if so, where can I get this package?

  • Fetching and relaying mails to a third party email server

    Hi All,
I have an existing email server sitting in the DMZ handling my company domain ([email protected]). I have installed OCS on the internal network. I want al my users to use OCS with the same email address they use on the existing email server ([email protected]).
For this purpose, the smtp outbound server on oracle email relays to the mail server sitting in the DMZ. This works fine.
However, I also want inbound emails coming to the external mail server to be delivered to Oracle mail server. I am using fetchmail for that. The fetchmail daemon does a pop on the external mail server and smtp to the oracle email server.
The problem is that is goes into a loop. When I get an inbound email on the external email server, it gets fetched (via fetchmail) and smtp to my OCS account. However, the OCS outbound SMTP server immediately relays it again to the external email server. And this results in a continuis loop.
I have searched the internet and this forum for a solution. There was some mention about sending the fetched emails from the external server to OCS mail via IMAP-Append rather than SMTP. However, I have no idea how to enable that on fetchmail (or if that works on OCS).
Has anyone faced a similar problem or has some soluiton to this issue.
    Thanks for the help.

My client wants to keep their externally hosted (highly available) mail server.
    They want OCS internally.
They want the external mail server to be the recognised MX host.
They want OCS to pull mail from the external server, or the mail to be pushed (if there is a guarantee of delivery).
    Thanks

  • Email server - sendmail used for outgoing only?

an earlier poster indicated that sendmail for NT is only used for outgoing emails from the Oracle email server. Is this true? If so I should be able to use the Indigo sendmail for a proof-of-concept (30 free trial). Can't find any free trial for sendmail for NT.
However, the email server IG seems to have me changing the sendmail.cf file to point at the Oracle email system - seems to imply that inbound messages run thru sendmail and are forwarded to Oracle. In which case the Indigo send-only won't work.
What did everyone else do? By a copy of sendmail for NT at $500, or run on unix? Other alternatives?

Would you please confirm what email you are trying to use with iPhoto, you still have not.
Is it an iCloud account or from some other provider?
it would prompt me to set up an iCloud account, which I believe I already have.
To find out if you actually have an iCloud account go to www.icloud.com and try to login.
