What will the difference in IBM Data Explorer?

Hi,
The recently released 10.1 version of the Commerce Service Center (CSC) application comes bundled with ATG Search for orders and profiles. CSC 10.1 uses repository search for search the catalog (not ATG Search). In general, the entire ATG Web Commerce suite of products use ATG Search for version 10.1.
We are looking into using Endeca Search for future versions of CSC but these plans are still under discussion and review.

Endeca has few different products. Find out which product which version you are using. Then start with 1. Endeca-Concepts Guide, 2. Endeca Getting Started Guide (of your product), 3. Endeca MDEX Engine Basis Developer Guide. After these 3 based on what your requirement is you will be able to figure out which next document to pick.

Endeca Search langauge support for Polish and Thai

I am working on Endeca Search configuration for Polish and Thai websites. It is observed that Endeca does not provide stemming files for Polish
and Thai. Please let me know if there is any other way to get the stemming and other related files for multi language support in Endeca.

For Polish and Thai - it's worth checking out the MDEX 6.4 release that is now available for download. There is enhanced support for 22 languages including Polish and Thai and you can enable dynamic stemming for those languages, leveraging out-of-the box linguistic rules. I have a requirement to integrate Endeca search in SharePoint 2010.

ATG Search vs Endeca Search

Why ATG is integrating with Endeca Search in ATG10.1.1?
Is there any issues with ATG Search? Why cant we use ATG Search itself for indexing and Search in Commerce applications.
Any specific advantages of Endeca Search over ATG Search. Please share your experience.

As mentioned by Gopi, CSC and Endeca are different products. Currently ATG CSC doesn't come integrated with Endeca search, and uses its own atg search functionality. Regarding the ATG CSC, search, u can get complete information in ATG documentation.

Ok, so you just want to pull CMS data into Endeca?
There are lots of ways to do that. Here is one high-level recipe.
1 - Get the data from the CMS.
Most CMS systems have the concept of "preview" and "live" content in a given environment, so you'll need to know how to tell the difference between unpublished and published content. For a simple integration we did with one CMS, we created a JSP display view to produce an Endeca-friendly XML representation of the CMS content. Most CMS systems have business user-friendly query languages - we tied our display view to a query for all published content.
There are likely going to be a lot of ways you can do this even within a single CMS, we'd suggest you find a way that makes use of the CMS's display cache so that your updates run faster than if you were hitting the CMS database/content store directly.
2 - Get the content into Endeca.
To do this you create an Endeca Content Adaptor for the CMS. For the example above, we set the QUERYURL passthrough to the URL of the display view described above. The Content Adaptor gets the XML from the CMS and pulls it in.
3 - Display data from Endeca (e.g. search results). This part is hard to describe generally, but in the example I've been going through above, we created a JSR 286 portlet for displaying search results. The portlet queries Endeca via APIs.
I am not very technical. If you needed to go deeper than this, you'd need to talk to one of our developers.

Endeca was a company known for its offerings like eCommerce and enterprise search, customer experience management and business intelligence applications. It was acquired by Oracle in 2011. You can find more about different Oracle Endeca applications here:

With ATG10.1.1, there is ATG-Endeca integration module also available allowing to use Endeca Search. You can index ATG product catalog data in Endeca MDEX engines, where it can be queried and the results can be displayed on commerce sites. Error while installing Oracle Ultra Search on DB for IDM

Dear All,
I need to install IDM-101401 on HPUX B.11.31 Itanium machine. i installed database (10201) and applied Patchset_10204. as a pre-requisite now i am trying to install Oracle Ultra Search (on the same oracle_home) from companion directory of DB10201 Disk1. i amended oraparam.ini to support B.11.31 before running installer.
After 83% of installation progress, below error is thrown.

my guess was correct. the issue was last point.

it was resolved by uninstalling DB, and again installing from basic version (10201) then went to companion CD, installed ultrasearch on same oracle_home. it got installed without any issue.
then upgraded to 10204. then created DB, and enabled ultrasearch by DBCA.

Hi experts,
I am trying to deploy a new version of a WC Portal application and when the deployment finishes successfully I cannot see the web page. The error is:

I have checked similar errors in the forums and tried the solutions purposed but with no success. I do not understand why the application is looking for the DataControls.dcx file inside a standard WC Search library.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Eventually I found the problem, it is reported in Oracle Support as Doc ID 1503173.1.
It seems jDeveloper is a bit special when adding Directories to the MAR file. If the whole directory "/oracle" is added, the adf-config.xml introduces the following line:
namespace metadata-store-usage="WebCenterFileMetadataStore" path="/oracle"/
As a result, this diverts all /oracle/... file and class requests to MDS, which causes failures.
So when editing the MAR deployment profile be careful to select the sub-directories under /oracle/webcenter/portalapp/ one by one.
Added to this, I had to perform the cleaning process you suggested to make it work too, otherwise I get a different error...
Final steps are:
1. Undeploy application.
2. Delete MDS partition.
3. Shutdown managed server.
4. Delete /cache and /tmp content for the managed server.
5. Start managed server.
6. Exectute Clean all in jDeveloper.
7. Create a new mar deployment as described in SR 1503173.1.
8. Deploy to EAR file.
9. Deploy new application to managed server using Enterprise Manager.
And it works!

How to configure what is displayed in srfDocSnippet (Oracle Text Search)?

I am using UCM 10gR3 with SiteStudio 10gR4. I installed the Oracle Text Search component and it is working well. One of the requirements for a search results page is the specific layout of the data displayed. srfDocSnippet returns a really ugly display if the search result return is just metadata. I didn't find any documentation in UCM on how to configure this display.
How to you configure what is displayed in srfDocSnippet?

You might want to look at the Ultra Search extension to Oracle Text.
It's part of the standard db license I believe.

Oracle Text Search Problem

we have implemented oracle text search. When trying to search a keyword contains in Adobe Reader 7.0 pdf version no search result is showing while the same keyword search is showing the pdf file which is in Adobe Reader 6.0.
Can any one please help with the way out?

usually this sort of thing occurs when the filters that you are using predate the release of acrobat involved. I don't know for sure the dates on your particular versions - and indeed you don't give us the db patch level - but a metalink search should reveal this.
