I am using RDBMS : 9.2.0.6.0, Oracle Applications : 11.5.10.2 on IBM-AIX.
I want to configure OEM!

You need to be on 10g or 11g to configure OEM.

i suppose SERVICE_NAME means database name. My SQL *PLUS is working without any tns entry. So please tell me how I can get database name that is SERVICE_NAME and the very first line of the tns entry that is "abcd" in the above example.

I installed Oracle 11g R2 in Linux machine and also changed the port number from 1521 to 1522.
Now i can take oracle DB through sqlplus.....Database is OPEN.....Listener is STARTED.......
But when i start oracle enterprise Manager (OEM),getting following errors..

Note: In the above errors, Please note, " port is 1521 "....But in TNSNAMES,LISTENER and SERVICE NAMES,i have mensioned 1522.
Then How 1521 comes in OEM???????

Arun -
After you create the EM repository, you cannot change the host name, IP address or listener configuration. If you do, db control will no longer work. In fact, just a few days ago, I made a listener configuration change and received the same error that you did from EM.
The solution - drop and then recreate the EM repository.
To drop:
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
To create:
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create

Newbie Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g feature availability question

Newbie question here. I am new to Oracle 11g and new to this forum. I ran a search on this question and came up empty so hopefully there is a kind and knowlegable soul wo can help.
I recall in earlier versions of Oracle Enterprise Manager for earlier versions of Oracle there was something called Oracle Enteprise Manager Reporting accessible from the OEM web.
One of its key features was the ability to make custom "Additional Reports". In our current environment this is installed and works great. I don't know if it was an add on to OEM, or if it was built in. It was built a long time ago and I wasn't arround for that build. All I know is it works and it suits our needs.
Well we are now trying to build a new Oracle dev box to replace the current dev environment. We would prefer to not lose any existing functionality we have... and if possible not have to reinvent the wheel. The new box has Oracle 11g.
**Here comes the dumb newbie questions. **
Does Oracle 11g Enterprise Manager support 9i-style Enterprise Manager Reporting and Custom Reports?
Is it called that in 11g or has it been renamed to something else?
Is it it a simple matter of configuration or is it an add on that needs to be installed?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Oracle 11g does not support 9i-style custom reports. There is a new reporting framework - Information Publisher available in Grid Control 10+ versions. The new reporting framework does support custom reports as well. Click on the Reports tab to access the functionality.

At first look this entry is valid. At least SHOULD BE VALID an understood by oracle tnsnames interpreter
After a couple of tries, i finally found that there should be at least one space between the begining of the line where figure out the description keyword (DESCRIPTION

In my Oracle 9i Application Server Release 2 since I have changed the administrator and invalidator password in the Web Cache Manager the Web Cache appears as unavailable in the Oracle Enterprise Manager, but it's working!! Any idea?

You have to modify the password manually in OEM's target.xml.

I have installed oracle 9i on windows 2000 server, But when I run oracle enterprise manager it asks me the userid and password.

If you want to get connection in stand-alone mode you can use the user system and its password. If you do not know the password of the user system you can do this in the Oracle Server.
SET ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
sqlplus /nolog
conn / as sysdba
alter user system identified by <new_password>;
exit
through that way you will be change the password to the user system and you will be able to get connection from OEM. There are other details to get connection from OEM . Test it so and if you have troubles to do it you will be able to reply.

Cannot login as sysdba in Oracle Enterprise Management Console

Hi,
I have recently installed Oracle 9.2.0.4 in Red Hat Linux 9.
I ran "oemapp console" to launch the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console Standalone. However, everytime I tried to login as:
user: sys
password: <sys password>
connect as: sysdba
I always get ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.
The Oracle database where I cannot connect as sysdba in OEM was created MANUALLY.
However, I can successfully login to OEM as sysdba if the database was created using Database Configuration Assistant...
So I might have missed out some configurations when I creasted the database MANUALLY...
any ideas??

Hi there once more,
Of course it is possible that user system has the same problems as user sys (insufficient privs)....
In that case try to log on as internal/pwd@dbname as sysdba to perform the trick.

NO, it will not work. You cannot even install since the installer
for Solaris is a Solaris binary and some windows exe also does
not work. I guess somebody has to write a better bootstrap proggy
first...
I wonder why they did it that way...

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.3.0

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.3.0 is one hour behiend on AIX 5.3.
I have installed the new timezone version 4 already by oracle DST path database is good OEM main page is showing one hour behiend.
I have done every possible effort last thing may be i have to update java home i have 1.4 IBM java on the server.

What is the impact of not patching the JDK on the OMS for 10g Grid Control?
If you do not patch the JDK on the OMS page refreshed times and possibly other times displayed in the console will be incorrect (they will be off by 1 hour) during an affected period.
Oracle strongly recommends that you do patch the OMS JDK but we are not aware of any data corruption in the repository nor of any impact on critical EM functionalities (such as severities, notifications and jobs) when the JDK is not patched.

Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control is not working properly

Hello!
I have a problem with Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, the web console. When I open the browser, instead of showing the login window, it shows the window where three arrows, the database instance, the listener, and the conection, that are red and down.
However they are working correctly, the database is up and working, but the EM doesn't show anything else.
Is there a way to make it work again?

The Enterprise Manager has lost sync with the database.
The only way I know to do this remotely is to tell the OEM to shut down and/or bring up the database - twice. It'll try and fail and perhaps eventually reset it's pointers.
I'd really like Oracle to create a 're-sync to actual state' URL ... there must be an easy way, such as flushing the collected metrics or something.

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 5

Hi All,
Has anyone here already using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 5? Currently we are using Release 2 of Oracle Enterprise Manager as a package upon installation of Oracle 10g. Curious about Release 5 I want to try it out in our Dev Environment. But before making any changes. I would like to ask guidance from you.
Upon installation does it needs Operating System Patches, Packages etc.? Currently we are using AIX 5L Based Systems (64-Bit) and 10g for Database. Is this a complete installation or Just an upgrade?

I was able to load the plug-in without any error messages, but no alerts are raised
when I send a trap.

- Port 1830 was obtained from the OEM console
