I'm receiving a similar error when attempting to create data warehouse tables with BIAPPS 7.9.6.
The "Installing the DAC Platform" documentation states:
"4.9.4.2 How to Create ODBC Connections for Oracle Databases
Follow these instructions for creating ODBC connections for Oracle databases on
Windows. For instructions on creating ODBC connections for Oracle databases on
UNIX or Linux, see the documentation provided with your database.
Note: You must use the Oracle Merant ODBC driver to create the ODBC connections.
The Oracle Merant ODBC driver is installed by the Oracle BI Applications installer.
Therefore, you will need to create the ODBC connections after you have run the Oracle
BI Applications installer and have installed the DAC Client."

Why choose Oracle ERP Tools over other competitors ERP's?
What are the benefits of implementing Oracle ERP Tools with a company?

Do you mean Oracle 'ETL' tools (Extraction, Transformation, Load), as this is the OWB forum? If so, there's lots of supporting OWB collatoral (OWB is Oracle's ETL tool) at http://otn.oracle.com/products/warehouse/htdocs/OTN_collateral.html , including a paper entitled 'Three Business Reasons To Move To Warehouse Builder' at http://otn.oracle.com/products/warehouse/pdf/Warehouse_92_business_whitepaper.pdf
If you do mean ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), you'd do better to look at Oracle AppsNet, their equivalent of OTN for Oracle Applications http://appsnet.oracle.com

  • Oracle ERP & Oracle customer care and billing approximate price

I am doing a research about Oracle as a company as part of my BSc study , so I want to know approximately how much does it cost an organization (the number of employees are 4000 employees )to buy
    •     Oracle ERP systems license including the standard modules (financial, HCM, SCM ).
    •     Oracle customer care and billing license.
Secondly; i need to knwo if the folloiwng affects the price for both the above modules:-
    - number of employees
    - any other factors.
    Best Regards

The prices very drastically by client.
The price is determined by different criteria for different modules.
e.g. For ASCP, it is by COGS.
For Order Mgmt, it is by number of lines.
For mfg, it is by named users.
And then sometimes client can negotiate a enterprise wide agreement with flat pricing.
    Check

  • How can Oracle ERP system reduce the total cost of ownership

i have read a report that describe the advantages of using Oracle ERP system in different organizations ; it is mentioned that
"+Oracle’s ERP solution suite helps customers achieve 30-80% lower total cost of ownership, benefit from a predictable cost model, and reduce risk+".
So does this means that Oracle ERP system reduce the total cost of ownership because it provides cheaper price comparing to other ERP providers, or it is meant that using Oracle ERP system will reduce the total cost of ownership for other assets in the organization by 30-70% ?
    Thanks

    My thoughts:
    1) Oracle ERP (or any ERP) typically replaces numerous applications. Each of those applications needed separate licensing fees, separate support mechanism, and separate employees in your organization to support them. By consolidating into one, it is easier to support it.
    2) Normally, Oracle ERP is cheaper than SAP but it certainly not the cheapest ERP in the market. There are some smaller ERPs which are cheaper but may not offer the breadth that Oracle offers. In fact, Oracle offers a small business ERP that is quite cheaper than EBS.

  • Oracle ERP adapter or Develop our own?

Within our company we have a discussion if we shall use the out-of-the-box Oracle ERP adapter to integrate to Oracle e-Business Suite or if we shall develop our own web service & WMQ to get it loosely coupled between SIM and EBS.
The main reason we can see to develop our own is that we will have the control of the code and can handle version upgrades both on SIM and EBS, the downside is of course the development time and costs.
Has anyone had the same discussions and what did it result in and what where your arguments for use or not to use OracleERP adapter?
For you that run the OracleERP adapter what experiences have you got both good or bad and what have you seen is the major challenges?
Please feel free to give comments also in general what pro's and con's is with develop or use the built-in adapters

    HI,
    1. What are the perquisites for developing XI Adapter?
You can develop Adapter using JCO Adapter framework
    2. what tools do I have to learn ?
i hope NWDS, we can use adapter metadata,PCK
    3. Where can I find the useful information regarding the development of XI Adapter?
how to import all the configuration for the developed adapter
How do u configure external adapter to XI?

  • How do i give access to developer on Oracle ERP R12 database?

    Hi
We have a developer joined in our team.He needs access to Oracle ERP R12 Database for developing some reports. For developing reports, he needs access to all database schema access either by sqlplus, developer 10g, plsql developer etc. Giving application developer responsibility will not solve the problem. I cannot give him apps password or other database accounts passwords.
I created apps_query (read only schema) based on this link http://oracle.anilpassi.com/read-only-schema-in-oracle-apps-11i.html, but he says cannot see or select objects from other schema like inventory, purchasing etc. I doubt his comments. What is the best way to protect and give 'select' privileges on all module database access?
    Need suggestions.

We clone a special instance from our test/qa environment for the developers and give them the apps password (it does not have production data but is configured with the appropriate orgs, coa, etc.). It is on a separate server from our test, sandbox, training and obviously production environments. With 10-15 developers we have found this the easiest way to go. The developers get read only access accounts in our Production and Volume Test (clone of Prod) environments only on an as needed basis and only for a limited time.
We also do not give them UNIX access to the development server just sqlnet and ebusiness access. I wrote a utility that allows them to copy files (plsql, oa framework, workfow, etc) onto the server and compile with the appropriate tool. Once their development and unit testing is complete our change control process takes over to migrate the code into the test/qa enviroments for testing by the qa analysts...

  • Oracle XBRL Extension Ready for Download

Oracle XBRL Extension Ready for Download
    URL: http://www.liberidu.com/blog/?p=2608
The new ready to download Oracle XBRL Extension is a “no cost option” on top of the latest Oracle Database 11.2.0.2.0 release. With this added functionality you will get a database environment that contains One or more back-end XBRL repositories based on Oracle Database, which provide XBRL storage and query-ability with a set of XBRL-specific services An external XBRL processing engine (XPE)
The XBRL Extension to Oracle XML DB integrates easily with Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) for analytics and with interactive development environments (IDEs) and design tools for creating and editing XBRL taxonomies.

What was it you wanted to announce:

  • Capturing 9i SQL for Replay Against 10g in Oracle ERP Environment

We are preparing to upgrade our installation of Oracle ERP from 9i to 10g. This is a very large installation (9 instances, 1 TB of data.)
We were researching Streams as a means of capturing the re-do log and replaying the SQL from our 9i instances to new instances in 10g to test memory, the optimizers, etc. but Streams does not support this.
Any thoughts on how/where we could "trap" the SQL from our production 9i environment and replay it against our 10g environment?
I know replay is slated for 11g, but we can't wait that long.
    Thanks

Thanks for the quick erply N.G.
I have looked at Logminer briefly before I posted my question. I wasn't clear if this was a suitable tool for gathering (for example) a couple of days worth of transactions. Since we are attempting to replicate our 9i production environment we will have to process and replay hundreds of thousands of transactions.
Is this a proper use of Logminer?

  • Oracle ERP

Except "Purchase Price Variance" report, please advice where else I can find the PO price vs. Std cost price in Oracle ERP.
My next question is how to save reports generated from Oracle ERP as excel files.
    Thanks for your help.

Depending on which platform you are using the Action/Export path
can place the data into Excel format for online info. Once you
are viewing your report online you can then go to Special/Copy
File to place the file in a .txt format, then import into Excel.

  • Oracle ADF skin editor tool

    Hi,
    Im using Oracle Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4.
This https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/entry/suggested_skin_editor_workflow blog says that for using Skin editor in 11.1.1.4 i need to download Standlone Skin editor. Is this tool a licensed software, because in the download section of the ADF, it says that it is "OTN Developer License Agreement." what this means, can we use this tool for free in a organisation.

    Hi,
you can download the editor here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/downloads/index.html
about the license, I don´t know(wait experts responses) but the editor is for custom adf applications and then you need a ADF license
For free organisation you should see ADF Essentials :http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/overview/adfessentials-1719844.html

  • Using XA with Oracle ERP application

    Hi,
We have two Tuxedo Domains that we need to establish global transaction:
First Domain - Tuxedo 6.4 with Oracle 8.0.6 database.
Second Domain - Tuxedo 6.4 with Oracle ERP application (Oracel version 8.0.5)
A Client that calls a Tuxedo server in the first domain this service doing some work
on the database and then calls another service in the second domain (using Domain
    connection).
The service in the second Domain activate a Oracle API (package) from the ERP application.
The Rollback works but we problem with the commit. We recieve the following Oracle
Error - ORA-06574: Function "VIEW_ALL" references package state can not execute remotly.

    Subbu,
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, support for Oracle RAC has been
implemented in Tuxedo 9.1 and in the Tuxedo 8.1 and Tuxedo 9.0 rolling patch
streams. There are no plans to backport this feature to Tuxedo 8.0. If you
plan to use RAC transactionally and if it is possible for multiple services
that could be located on different RAC instances to be accessed in a single
transaction (which will be true for most applications), then you should
upgrade to a version of Tuxedo with support for Oracle RAC. The
    documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/tuxedo/tux91/ads/adorac.htm#248431
gives an overview of RAC support in Tuxedo.

    Hello Nadeer, Hello Ed,
Has the implementation of Tuxedo8.0 with Oracle RAC was completed
    successfully ?.
If it is done , I have few doubts. Could you please help me ?.
    1) I hope your Tuxedo middleware connects to the oracle Database using
Oracle XA resource manager and the TMS server built using buildtms with
oracle as RM .As per the mail from Ed, migration of Tuxedo9.1 should be done
    before moving to Oracle RAC.
Also from BEA documentation, Oracle RAC support was given as new feature in
    Tuxedo9.1.
Our Application uses Oracle RM to connect to Oracle DB[ Oracle 10g] from
Tuxedo8.0. So do we need to upgrade to Tuxedo9.1. for using Oracle RAC ?.
    Thanks for your help

I Have to install Oracle ERP R12 on a Linux machine but the issue is that we are already running ERP 11.5.10.2 on same Machine, my Question is that how we will take care of Kernel parameters for both the releases on same machine as R12 suggests different Kernel parameters to be set, or can we run R12 on the same Kernel Parameters which are already set for 11.5.10.2, please help me out experts, this Question is for Linux4 machine.
    Thanks
    Mehboob

    Hi,
If the values for R12 are higher then you need to adjust the kernel parameters values and it should work for both 11i and R12.
    Thanks,
