Oracle exam price is up 56% to USD195

Hi everyone,
I registered my 1Z0-050 exam with Pearson VUE today and was suprised by the new exam fee went up to $195 from $125. Last month when I started to prepare this exam, the Oracle website just showed $125 for the exam price. I am wondering what's the reason that causes Oracle to raise the exam fee.
Just feel a little bit frustration, that not fair...

  • 11g OCM Exam Price

I can't find the price of the 11g OCM upgrade exam on [Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Upgrade Exam|http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=11gOCMU]. The price field is empty, the schedule page is empty and the exam was not found in Pearson Vue (and I even don't find Oracle in Prometric... Has Oracle fired them?).
Do anyone know what's the price? Or anyone knows the price of previous OCM upgrade exam price (if any) for an reference?
    Thanks

I wonder whether that is related to the fact that the 11g OCM is not released yet.
IN any case http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=&lang=&p_exam_id=11gOCM shows me that the 2 day exam is priced at US$2000

  • Errors in 1z0-051 and 1z0-061 Official Oracle exam guides

What can we do about errors in the official Oracle exam guides.
I am doing the 1z0-061 (Oracle Database 12c: SQL Fundamentals).
The 051 and 061 exams are exactly the same.
051 is written by John Watson and Roopesh Ramklass and the 061 is written by Ramklass, but the thing is, both books have the same content word for word.
I found these errors in the books:
(1.) In chapter 08 (Using subqueries to solve problems) in both books it says "A subquery can be used to select rows for insertion but not in a VALUES clause of an INSERT statement".
But this is wrong. You CAN use a subquery in a VALUES clause: This will work ->
    INSERT INTO values_test (f1) VALUES ((SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL));
However you have to have the 2 brackets in red.
    (2.)
Chapter 2: Self test question 9
The following character literal expression is selected from the DUAL table: SELECT 'Coda""s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring' FROM DUAL; (Choose the result that is returned.)
    A.  An error would be returned due to the presence of two adjacent quotes
    B.  Coda's favorite fetch toy is his orange ring
    C.  Coda""s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring
    D.  Coda""s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring'
The books says the correct answer is B. But this is wrong.
Correct answer is C, since the "" are 2 double quotes and they will appear as it is.
Even if "", is actually 4 single quotes the output then will be Coda''s favorite fetch toy is his orange ring
    which has 2 single quotes.
I wrote to the author  (emai [email protected]) but got no reply.
How can we let Oracle certification know that there are errors in these books. This can affect the exam and can mean the difference between passing and failing.

    >The book cover says "Oracle Press", meaning Official Oracle.
No -- the name does not mean that.  'Oracle Press' is a division of the McGraw-Hill publishing company that specializes in writing books for the Oracle suite of products.  Oracle has close ties with the publisher and often supplies information to the authors that is not publicly available.  However, Oracle is not responsible for the content of the books.
    >If not, then what ARE the Official Oracle guides?
The only thing that you could call an 'Official' Oracle guide would be student guides developed by Oracle University for one of their courses.  This content is supplied to attendees of the courses. The material is copyrighted and should not be available on the Web.

  • Oracle Exams written 7 years ago...where are my records!?

    Please help!
I had written approximately 5 Oracle exams for the Oracle Developer 2000 Forms and Reports (6i) track back in 2001. Due to an earlier move, I'm no longer able to locate my Oracle exam records! I called prometric and they did not have any of my information and said that because it has been over 7 years, all my results are sent to Oracle and that I should contact them.
I have sent an email to [email protected] with all my information (Prometeric Candidate ID, Full name and address) mid last week requesting them to provide me a list of exams I have completed.
Will they be able to have my information even though it has been over 7 years?
    Can anyone help me?

    Hello,
Your exam records should be in the Certification Database. Please be sure that when you sent your request to [email protected] that you included your Prometric ID, and that all your exams were taken under the same Prometric ID.
The customer service team will respond soon. They have been experiencing a very high volume of emails recently and the wait time has been an average of 5 business days. You should receive a response soon. Thank you for your patience.

  • Do oracle exams expire ???

hi all, please i have a question about oracle exams...
i took the OCP exam (Developer) 1Z0-007 introduction to SQL at 01-02-2007 and i need these days to complete the certificate by taking PL-SQL and Forms exams .. so will my first exam expire at a specific date so i'll have to retake it again or there isn't an expiration date for the exams ??

    Great question.
Some of the criteria for validity of a test score while you are in the midst of certification may be:
    1. A one or two year validity irrespective of whether the same test is offered in the future or not
    2. The test number has not been retired
    3. There are no upgrade exams related to the same test (e.g Oracle 8i test score validity when Oracle 10g test is the one being offered now)
    4. The exam track has not been retired/ discontinued
I think 2 years is a reasonable time for getting certified on all the exams in a track (4-5 exams at the most).
OCP Program team may please clarify with the official response regarding the test score validity.
Best of Luck for the rest of your exams!

  • Do i have to pay exam center fee to an authorized oracle exam center(new horizon) in Bangladesh rather than the exam fee of Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I ?

Do i have to pay exam center fee to an authorized oracle exam center(new horizon) in Bangladesh rather than the exam fee of Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I ?

I agree with Matthew that I cannot be sure exactly what you are asking.
Generally i regard it as less risk to yourself to schedule and pay Pearson Vue directly.
However if you contact the exam center and get them to schedule for you my understanding is you pay them. Unfortunately there is risk of the exam center overcharging you (99%++ of most most worldwide wont).
The only reasons for doing this I can think of is (there may be more) :-
    - is if you do not have credit/debit cards that Pearson Vue would accept.
    - The center will accept turn up and schedule and your transport to the exam center might be unreliable and you are worried you might miss the appointment and you are hoping to pay on arrival (some will not accept this).

  • Oracle Exam Scam!

Can somebody check this post out?
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Oracle_PL_SQL_Certification/message/15
If this is true then this erodes the scantity of the exam and institution, after all many like me are working hard to achieve this certification and don't want it tainted.

  • Oracle exam 1Z0-052 in Perth, Western Australia

    Hi All,
I am planning to take 1Z0-052. I am based in Perth, Western Australia. I just bought the exam voucher from the Oracle University; and I heard the exam was a proctored exam.
I would like to ask for anybody who already done this exam. Was it hard? and where did you do the exam in Perth, Western Australia? I assume I have to go to the appointed exam instituion for this.
    Is it prometric?
    Thank you

    Hi Brandye,
I just did the 1Z0-052 exam, and i passed. Thank you for your info. It is correct that Oracle exam is delivered through Pearson VUE. For those of you who lived in Perth, Western Australia you will need to arrange your exam through Pearson VUE website - but you will have the exam at the authorised testing centre. I had mine at amcom Septimus Roe square. The exam was harder than 1Z0-051 but it was ok.

I believe a lot of exams are affected
Pearson VUE is not yet showing these prices.
Sun/MySQL had some issues recently .... see [http://dave-stokes.blogspot.com/2010/02/exams-are-us200.html]
This appears to be a typically 50% increase in costs of certification exams .... given that certification exam planning occurs over a 3 / 6 / 12 month period one wonders how this is justified ?
Or is it simply yet another web site mistake ?
Previously Sun Certifications exams were at the higher end of the scale ... Oracle's were near the lowest.

  • Oracle Exam result not available on Oracle CertView account

    Hello,
I have given my Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate exam (1z0-147) today i.e. 9th March, 2013. But I have not received my exam result till now and no mail also from Oracle and in my oracle certview account also result for that exam is not present. I have given exam from a authorized PearsonVUE centre. And in my PearsonVUE account my exam status is showing as "Taken".
Is this because of some server problem or something else. Please help with the same.

.... I always thing there has to be a higher risk of a delay at the weekends. The information has to get from the Test Center to Pearson VUE Central Systems through to Oracle Certifcation systems. With inevitable reduced staffing at weekends, timezone differences, weekend maintenances there surely has to be a higher risk of a delay at weekends. My opinion only. Hopefully it all sorts itself out by end of play monday PDT.
