Oracle express to full version

quick question...........we're running Oracle express as part of a test environment.....once we go live we'd of course like to switch to the full version. Is this a simple as putting in a registration code, etc.....or must the actual full version be installed and data migrated?

If you're moving to Standard or Enterprise versions, you've to install them and migrate your data. Since the data in express edition won't be that huge, you can just do exp/imp for migration.

I am migrating from Oracle 10g Apex 2.1 (demo) to Oracle 11g Enterprise full version:
Does anyone know if this can be done: The platform is Linux Red Hat - HP Prolient DL380 G2 series:
The demo version Oracle 10g apex 2.1 which was utilizined has a proof of concept...has now been approved to move forward with Oracle 11g Enterprise full version
I was thinking: Do I export all the applications, tables, and data. Then un-install Oracle 10g and the install Oralce 11g. Then finaly, import the applications, tables, and data.
OR .... can in be migrated....????

    Hello:
It is possible to upgrade your 10gR2 database to 11g and have APEX upgraded to 3.0 at the same time.

  • Oracle Express Edition, newer versions?

    Hello,
I believe there is only one verion of the Oracle 10g Express edition?
Is there going to be also an 11g Express Edition coming out? Or is this the one and only version and after that there is nothing coming anymore?

  • Logic Studio 2.0 purchased off Ebay... came with Logic Express 9 upgrade instead of full version, serial works to unlock registration but seems wrong and perhaps a loophole.  What should I do?

I purchased what was advertised as a Full Version of Logic Studio 2 off ebay.  It ended up being Logic Studio Pro 2 Upgrade and came with a copy of Logic Express 9 upgrade which did unlock the installation.  I didn't realize it was the upgrade version til I saw the sticker in the upright corner of the box post installation.  I feel like this is a loophole and not a legitimate installation now.    Is this legit or should I acquire a full copy of Logic Express?  The seller continously tells me that it's 100% legal and legit, etc..  I have already demanded he should send me or reimburse me enough to acquire a legitimate copy of Logic Express that supports the upgrade.  Am I right in doing so?  Or is it okay to use the Logic Express 9 upgrade copy to upgrade to Logic Studio Pro 2?  Doesn't seem right.  I'm very confused and would love some advice.  Thank you in advance.

The Logic Express 9 upgrade package requires you should own Logic Express 8 Full.... for that to be a legal use of the Logic Express 9 upgrade serial which then you could use to register LP9/Logic Studio 2.0 upgrade package using the LS2.0 upgrade serial..
This is an apparent loophole, in my opinion, that is being exploited by the seller....
However, when in any doubt with anything regarding possible legal issues... contact Apple directly and ask them for their advice/opinion on the matter.

  • Oracle 9i download a full version or just trial

Is the Oracle 9i Server software that you can download off of OTN a full or trial version? We are in the process of updating our Oracle license but need to upgrade to 9i right now. We have been told that we can not get the cd's until our license is updated. This is kind of a long process in our company because it has so many channels to go through. Thanks for the help!!!

    If is a full version
BUT it is licensed to be used only for developing and prototyping.

  • Version upgrade.   Oracle express edition

I down loaded from OTN the version of Oracle express edition onto my computer. It installed version 10.2.0.1.0 or Oracle.
I would like to upgrade oracle, but I am not sure what patches to down load. Can I just upgrade using the Enterprise Edition upgrade of 10.2.0.3.0 or do I have to find the specific patch. I have looked and I haven't been able to find Oracle Express down load or patches.
Also the version of Application express that I have is 2.1.0.00.39
Is there a later version of that as well. Do you happen to know that patch download. I have been trying to find that in Metalink and cannot either.

    Hi user568042,
This forum is for Oracle Application Express. Your are talking about the Oracle Express edition database, so your in the wrong place. :-)
It is not possible to upgrade or patch the Oracle Express edition database. The product is free but without the possiblity of patching.

  • Is the Oracle Expression Filter supported on ca be used in an XE version?

    Hi everybody.
Is the Oracle Expression Filter feature supported for the Oracle Database XE ?. According to documentation, this is a feature available only to Standard (Standard Edition One i guess) and Enterprise Edition. However, i can see the script catexf in the rdbms/admin directory in my XE Oracle Home.
    Thanks in advance ...!

    Hello,
Expression Filter depends on some functionality that is not included in XE. So the Expression Filter feature is not supported in XE.

  • How to install a "full" version of HTMLDB

    Hi,
I've downloaded Oracle Express and I like the simplicity of the installation and setup. However the "version" of HTMLDB / Application Express has some differences from the full one available online. Particularly the Workspace concept.
I really need to have a full version since I'll be having more then 1 developer working on an application. This doesn't seem to be possible in the version that comes with Oracle XE.
I'd like to remove the current version and install the full HTML DB available online. Anyone know how I can do this?
    Thanks,
    Martin

So the concept of the Workspace is dead?Well, the concept of a workspace is still there, but implicit only. Once an existing database user connects to http://localhost:8080/apex for the first time (e.g. HR), an implicit workspace is created on the fly. An Apex user for this workspace is created too, by copying the credentials of the database user to this workspace. This user is automatically created as the administrator of this workspace.
The most noteworthy differences between Apex 2.1 (bundled with XE) and Apex 2.0 (standalone) are:
    1) No explicit administrators or developer accounts
    2) Only one schema per workspace, you cannot assign more schemas to a workspace.
How can I allow multiple developers to work on the
same application then?Well, since you cannot share components across workspace (subscription feature) I tend to organize as many applications in a single workspace as possible (related applications operating on common data).
I guess I would create a single developer schema that has access to all related objects in different schemas (if necessary). Set it up using synonyms and grants.
All developers would log in to Apex/XE using this developer account.
    My personal suggestion ;),
    ~Dietmar.

  • Is 10g R2 a full version?

    Friends,
    ============
To download Oracle Database 10g Release 2 from OTN, point your browser (Firefox works well) to http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201linuxsoft.html. Fill out the Eligibility Export Restrictions page, and read the OTN License agreement. If you agree with the restrictions and the license agreement, click on I Accept.
    ============
Is the above 10g R2 is a full version? Also, is it an enterprise edition?
Is all the 10g features are enabled in this version?
what is the difference between the free and the paid 10g R2?
    Thanks
    Sathyguy

Free not to be used for commercial
purpose. It is only for educational purpose.I second Nicolas, please read carefully.
Even if it is for your private use, ex: manage your stamps collection, you will need to pay the license.
you may not use the programs for your own internal data processing
Even if it is for educational purpose, you may need to pay fees
you may not use the programs to provide third party training
    Check with your sales representatives.
If you need something free, download the XE (Express Edition)

you have a database version 10.2.0.1.0, but SOA needs 10.2.0.2 or higher. Update your database using the latest patchset.

  • Corrupt Data1.cab in Oracle Express 10g Universal  for Windows

    Hello Oracle Folks,
I downloaded several times Oracle Express 10g Universal for Windows (OracleXEUniv.exe) and tried to install it and I get every time the same error message: "Error 1335. The required file "Data1.cab" is corrupt and cannot be used ...". When I download the Western European Edition (OracleXE.exe) the installation works! I downloaded the file on different local disks to exclude the risk that my disk is damaged.
Can you please check if this download is sane!
Thanks and best regards Thomas Mayr

    Amazing reply Hans.
I have seen some arrogent smart mouth answers in my time. But this really takes the cake. Also judging from the icon you are some kind of employee of oracle. Wow! Now that shows respect for your users.
Sorry to disappoint you - I am not an employee of Oracle. Much of your rant is irrelevant.
I am simply a person who has volunteered enough time to provide over 8,000 repsonses in these forums and many more in other forums.
Many, many, many of the questions are pure repetition due to the extreme laziness, incompetence or inability to do basic thinking by the questioners. There are also a lot of questions by 'newbies' who have obviously made an attempt to research the problem.
My approach to answering questions is simple and two-fold:
    - make the person angry enough, or aware ennough, that they will think a bit when asking the next question;
    - if they ask a question intelligently (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html) I usually am convinced to help.
(And yes, I do take longer breaks when I find myself being frustrated enough to provide answers like the above.)
The stupid installation program for your stupid database was supposed to check the version of the Operating System. Anyway how does the operating system version matter if a cab file is corrupted? which was incidently packed in that stupid download link which you have happily given to all customers all this time. I was hoping to find that since you guys are too lazy to make the installation file properly you might have atleast bothered to put up a download link for that stupid Data1.cab. But nooo... The 'stupid installation program' is indeed that - a stupid installation program. It does a certain amount of checking, but definitely not enough. In that I do agree with you. It was also released too early - basrely understands how to spell Vista.
Also, there is an assumption by Oracle that the person downloading reads the documentation, especially the installation guide, that is available at the same location as the download. It is amazing and extremely disappointing to note how many people will not even attempt to look at the link.
The real sad part for me is that I frequently download software (and did again in this case) to verify that the user has a legitimate complaint. The 'data1.cab' that I received was not corrupt. Therefore I conclude the original poster made some huge assumption that is likely invalid. Now, I did install into an XP machine, and that could make a difference.
As for the 'you guys' statement - perhaps you should take that up with Oracle or an Oracle employee. Directing at me is an unsubstantiated assumption on your part. <g>
    >
I wasted some time thinking I would check out the db for development, got the same error and after seeing your mealy mouthed response to that poor guy who was asking a valid question, I think I won't bother anymore. You see, there is this amazing thing called Linux and MySQL..
Yup. You could easily go there. Shows yet another assumption. (In fact, my company is centered around Linux and Oracle. And I have made a conscious decision, based on 3 decades of experience, to toss MySQL and stick with Oracle. And now that Sun, which owns MySQL, seems to be on the auction block, the future of MySQL is definitely up in the air.)
However, given how many assumptions you make and how valid they are, you may find it easier to stick with MySQL. Oracle Express edition potentially could save huge buckets of time and effort in the long run, but it does require reading, research and other skills to get up to speed.
    Now, as to your problem
    1) This is not the forum to discuss issues with installation. (If the problem is traced to the download source, then this is the right spot.)
    2) There is a dedicated forum for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition (Oracle Database Express Edition (XE)
    3) You are absolutely correct that the installer should be smart enough to check the OS. It does not.
    4) Since it does not, and since there are differences, knowing which version AND edition of Windows (or which Linux distro and release) is critical to troubleshooting.

  • GarageBand will not let me access full version

Hello, I am trying to get the full version of garageband on my Macbook Pro. However, whenever I click on the greyed out loops or instruments I am asked to "add more sounds to garageband". I click continue and them I am prompted to enter my apple ID and password to accept all available apps. I hit accept and it tells me that the app has already been accepted under my ID and asks me to enter my apple ID again. After doing all this there are still features on garageband that are unavailable to me. Thanks in advance for the help!

It is not the first purchase with my apple ID. I bought the garageband app on my phone a long time before I even had this mac. I'm not sure if that matters. Should I contact apple? Or set up a new apple ID?
The App Store for GarageBand on your iPhone is a different store than the App Store for GarageBand on the Mac.
Check, if you are trying to connect to the correct store. Click the "Store" menu entry at the top this page.
Then click the button with the head in the upper right corner (left of the shooing cart) and select "View Account". On the page that will open reenter your Account settings - the country, the default "Shipping and billing "info, and make sure that "Express checkout" is enabled.
