Oracle Express with 4 Gig of data information?

As Oracle express has 4 gigs of data size limit. so how many exams can be saved for at maximum when it comes to storage for PACS system?

i think the OP means radiology exam data. Thats because he's talking about PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) - a kind of software you use to store radiology images in digital format.
Usually you don't store the image data inside the PACS (at least not the systems i know), so in the database you usually store the patient data, date and time of the examination etc and the location of the radiology images on some disk system.
However, those databases for PACS can become very large, as nowadays modern radiology modalitys can produce a lot of data within a very short time, having a few hundret or even thousand images for one CT examination is nothing unusual anymore. And as you usually have to store information about each single image in the database thats why it could grow very large within very short time.
I can't imagine that 4GB will be enougth for a PACS, but that greatly depends on what information is stored in the DB and how many exams and what kind of exams the radioloist is going to create.
BTW: The image format that is usually used for this is DICOM. Oracle has added support for it in 11g.

If you want to load HTML file content as structured data, you have 2 basic choices.
If the HTML is XHTML compliant, then you can process it using the XML functions and XDB features of Oracle. The likelihood that it conforms to XHTML is slight though - very few web systems and services (to my knowledge) dish up XHTML. And plain HTML is not compliant.
The 2nd choice - well, a dirty one as you will need to find some kind of method to change HTML data into structured data. You can use a HTML parser that builds a HTML DOM - Gecko can be used for example. However, this is not a trivial exercise.
So instead you can also look at creating code that specifically support the HTML content that you need to process (these should use a static formatting model for the same page types). You can use string processing (Perl, lex, awk, regex, etc) to extract the usable data content from the HTML file and then load that into Oracle as structured data.
Whatever the method - if not XHTML, then you can expect a fair deal of complexity loading structured data from HTML content.

Oracle Reports with XML output showing data as asterik character

I'm trying to create an Oracle report with xml output. Here is the issue I'm having some of the columns in my report are of datatype number. When I run the report and generate xml file the values for those columns(datatype number) are showing as (*) character, other columns are showing fine. But when I run the report as text output then data is fine. I don't understand why this is happening.
The property of column is Column Type - Database Scalar, Datatype - Number , width 0,-127.
Does the width has to do anything with this?
I'm using Report Builder 6.0.8.11.3, DB version 10g.
Can anyone please help me with the issue I'm having.

I recently signed on with iCloud. I find that the prompts interrupt my workflow and the costs of this feature for someone with 200 gigs of data is not competitive. I want to cancel the mail, contacts, email, etc. without Removing data from my Mac. How?

I recently signed on for iCloud service, but find that it interrupts my workflow too often (which I know I can reset), but will soon exceed my free storage space. I have 200 gigs of data on my local drive and frankly the cost and benefit of having ICloud access to all of it is not competitive. This particular iCloud offering is overpriced for me. I want to cancel all iCloud services but can't seem to find an easy way to do it without removing the data on my local drive, which would be disaster. Need the communities help. Thanks to all.

Tried this, but unfortunately there was no way to cancel it even when disconnected from the NET. I'm on WIFI which I turned off.
I keep getting a pop-up that says:
The same message comes up when you want to cancel or remove any of the other iCloud storage functions including Contacts and Emails. This is obviously a scary thought. Why would APPLE program in this type of message? I'm already at 50% of my FREE storage on iCloud after only 2 weeks. There is no way I'm going to be held hostage by this clearly unacceptable "pay or die" programming lapse when I get to 100%. I know APPLE loves making money. Who doesn't, but this makes no sense to this devoted "Since 1984" Apple fan.

How to install Oracle Express with different NLS_CHARACTERSET

When I install Oracle 10g Express on my PC, the characterset is always set to AL32UTF8. For compatibility reasons, I need to have my db in the WE8ISO8859P1 characterset.
How can I achieve this? I allready tried by installing both the Western Europe version as with the Universal version.

Thanks for the feedback although the problem is little bit weired.
A colleague of me installed the express edition with the same setup files but did recieved the correct NLS_CHARACTERSET.
I allready tried by using different regional settings but that didn't do the trick.

Don't do it... That verizon Edge will literally bring you over the edge should you try to leave, be sure to read the complete contract which they don't advertise correctly...
Verizon Wireless is basically a criminal who misleads their customers. My contract was almost up. I sign up for the Edge program, and the way it was explained to me, was "oh this way you can upgrade when you want (really once a year) and you aren't in a contract". Well that was a lie. I decide to go elsewhere so I call and ask what I need to do. They say "well, you are in a contract", (ok that wasn't told to me but fine) I ask what my termination fee is, they say "To get out of your edge program, you have to pay the $500 remaining fee for your phone ( Galaxy S5 which I was paying monthly, $25) and a termination fee for your service of $150."
HOLD up, so basically you are telling me that you guys came up with a way to charge two **** termination fees????? If I decided to take my phone with me, I could almost understand that, but If I give the phone back, why would I be paying for something that is no longer in my possession??? Manually-entered date information doesn't stay with photos outside iPhoto

I'm having problems trying to share the date information I've manually added in iPhoto to all my scanned photos.
I understand because they are scanned photos they are really new files where the image creation date is the day they were scanned. However, why is it that I can export the title, keywords, and location information of any of these scanned photos but not the date information that iPhoto is storing and using to sort the photos by date?
I've tried exporting the photos to iDisk, sharing via e-mail with the title, keyword, and location information, and downloading specialized EXIF viewers (now understanding that a scanned photo isn't really going to have any EXIF data like a digital camera photo would). The only place external from iPhoto that I seem to be able to view the date information I've added to the scanned photos is in my MobileMe Web Gallery (but not when uploaded to a family member's Web Gallery), but only when selecting the "Show Detailed Info..." menu item after opening a photo...this date info does not come along when I download the photo from my own Web Gallery.
I've also tried changing the date on these scanned photos using the Batch Change... menu item with no resulting change over setting the date in the information area for the photo (I still only see the date I've set in iPhoto or in my Web Gallery).
My ultimate goal is to send many scanned photos with titles, keywords, and date information to a family member also using a Mac to build a slideshow with photos from several of us all sorted properly by date. Right now we're unable to figure out how to do that. Entering the date information into the description field allows that textual data to come along when I share via e-mail, but it doesn't solve the problem of allowing other people to sort automatically by date with a larger set of photos without them having to transcribe that textual date info into the date field in the information area of the photo.
Thank you very much in advance for any specific instructions on making this work! This is getting quite frustrating at how something so seemingly simple and valuable is turning out to be so difficult to figure out.

On the Windows machine I have an app called 'Spin it Again'
I use it for Vinyl and analogue tape capture for stuff that I could not fford to go out and buy new ( if even now available).
All I have to do is put in artist name and title and it finds from online database (Gracenote plus others) , it analysis the audio and automatically splits the single capture in to individual tracks, saving the track names to each track, it uses recorded track length and database info to to comfirm/database naming. It also has basic audio filtering/crackle/hiss removal, audio cleanup options all in one package.
I have yet to find anything that does the same job on the Mac,
iTunes will auto tag tracks from an online database.
The iTunes store database is very limited and does not have much of the older stuff. Plus I have always used FLAC format as my 'archive store' for all my audio, so ripping with iTunes is out For CD's I use EAC with Accurate rip to rip them and that also uses an online database with much greater range than iStore.

To an extent, and Garmin are now producing some better software for mac for their GPS units. But still nothing much in the Freeware world yet. I have tried a few apps for GPS over the last year (yes I have had a Mac for almost a year now) but still found nothing that has all the functions that I am used to on the Windows machine, and as I still have the Xp machine set up next to the mac , all on the same screens, then there is no difficulty in swapping machines. It is not of that great an importance that I am going to spend too much time on searching for Mac apps..something will turn up in time...as Name Mangler has done. I spend too much time on these bloody machines as it is...it is now 1210...and I have been on here since 0800...I had planned to go down the farm and do some work down there this morning...another morning gone and nothing real to show for it.

Oracle Express Edition & Enterprise Edition together

I have an application developed in VB.Net 2005 with Oracle Enterprise Edition 10g as backend.
I also have a distributed desktop user for the same application which uses Oracle Express edition database.
I want to write an application for Data synchronisation between Oracle Enterprise Edition and Oracle Express Edition for transfer of data to & fro.
How can I connect both the databases in my data sync application (vb.net 2005)? I am also using ODP.net in this application?
Any solutions ?

I'm going to ask an obvious question here, if you can connect the desktop user XE database to the Enterprise database, why don't the desktop users simply connect to the Application Express instance running in the EE database?
It's an obvious question, but I had to ask it ;)

what you can do (and what we have done) is to LDAP-enable your operating system. I think HP-UX must also have some kind of PAM (plugable authentification module). You then can configure your PAM to first look into /etc/passwd and then to look into the LDAP.

This is the way every Express object that is modelled gets implemented at the physical level. Each object has a physical storage object, which is a variable that is usually dimensioned by a composite to manage storage sparsity. This physical object is difficult for users to understand as the dimensionality is not based on the presentation format the user will want. Hence, a logical object (a formula) is used to breakout the variable into the base dimensions making it easier for users to interact with from the perspective of creating queries. There is more information in the user guides on this subject.
I would recommend upgrading to 10g Release 2 rather than using Express. The latest release of the database contained an OLAP multi-dimensional engine within the core database. There is no separate engine like there is with Express and the administration and management tools are much easier. Please refer to the OLAP wbsite on OTN for more information:

Problem when trying to refresh oracle screens with latest data

i have one problem,i want to refresh the oracle screen with the latest data from the data
base.
It is a two stage process.At first step one user will select a row from the screen and then he will press a button .
now the second screen will appear and the detail of the employee will be displayed.
First step has been completed and the data is coming in the second form via parameters and i can see the full information of the employee.
Now i want to refresh the oracle form i.e. suppose if my dba has made any changes in the oracle table( EMP table) i want that after pressing the refresh button user can see the
latest data from the database.
in WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED trigger i have written this codes.
enter_query;
execute_query;
but they are not giving the expected result.
And one more thing please suggest whether in the second form i should use database item
or non database item.
When i am using database item when i am trying to close second from one pop up is appearing
and asking that whether i want to save the changes.
please suggest how can i remove this message from my application.

how did you populate the datablock in the second form ?

I have invested over 6 hours on the phone and with my Verizon Authorized Rep. trying to get the Bonus 1 Gig of Data for myself on the More Plus Plan. Cut and dry situation but today was told I have to wait about 7 days until they can get me "an answer" o

Basic question is why are any of the minimun 8 Verizon reps that I or my Authorized Verizon Rep (at Costco) spoke with unable to resolve a very simple, straightforward issue that should have been resolved in 15 minutes max. Instead I (a 14 year verizon customer) have been given the runaround and have invested over 6 1/2 hours in trying to get someone to acknowledge that I an owed 1 GB of Bonus Data on my new phone on our new plan. My wife got hers. I am just venting now as I intend on returning the phone tomorrow (I got it Thursday) and turning around and getting an identical new phone. This was suggested to me as an option by both the Rep who sold my wife her phone and the rep who sold me mine as that way I would not have to contiinue dealing with this ridiculous state of affairs (they indicated that my Free gig request was being sent to another department and that it would be about 7 days befor they get an answer). Just Venting . Thanks

No I was considerate, etc. The root of the problem stems from the fact that when I went to get my new phone I asked the salesperson if I should sign up for the new plan or if my wife should do it the following day when she buys her new phone (also at a Costco but in a different state). The salesperson said it made absolutely no difference so I elected to have my wife do it. When she did the next day she got her free Gig and her salesperson told her that I need to call in to make sure I get the gig that I am entitled to as well. That's when the runaround started with the first call consisting of me basically advising Verizon of what the promotion consists of, etc.since they insisted that it was one gig per Plan, that there were no exceptions to this, etc. As mentioned they wanted to know where I got the information that it was one gig per qualifying phone. (Both the rep and her supervisor obviously were not aware of how Verizons heavily touted More Everything plan works). They told me finally that I needed to go back to the Costco where I got the phone. I did. The salesperson apologized numerous times to me for advising me that it made no difference who signs up for the plan or when. She then spent over two hours on the phone (with me next to her) attempting to explain to Verizon what happened, how it was her fault, and how I was clearly entitled to the Bonus Gig since I also had a qualifying phone. Finally she was transferred to someone who authorized the Bonus Gig (since I was clearly entitled to it) and who indicated that it might take 24 hours to show up on my new Plan. 72 hours later, no change, and the runaround continues some more. The only reason I even came to this forum was to let off some steam since no one could give me an answer.. It's clear that I am entitled to the Bonus Gig yet the last supervisor I spoke with told me that he could only pass the request on to another department via e-mail (no direct contact, etc. even though I gave him the name and employee # of the Verizon rep who indicated the Bonus was approved) and that an answer should be forthcoming in about 7 days. I was very cordial with everyone I spoke with as I understand that they take their direction from the top. The countless hours I have spent dealing with this situation is something that no-one should have to go through, particularily someone who has been a Verizon Plan customer since about year 2000. Everyone seems to agree that I am entitled to the free gig but no one seems to be in a position to help this customer. Its a horrible way to treat someone. I talked with the original saleslady today and told her I would be in tomorrow to turn in the phone and get a new one along with the gig I was entitled to. She said that would be fine and wouldn't be a problem but that she would be happy to try calling Verizon once again to try to resolve the issue. I indicated that I'm done with wasting time taliking with well-meaning and courteous (and I assume underpaid) employees who I assume are pretty much directed from above that any concessions they make, even if the customer is entitled to them, will reflect badly on their employee evaluations . Good thing I am retired or I would really be worked up. They only way I would consider even talking to Verizon anymore on this is if they were to waive the $60 in upgrade fees my wife and I paid for the new phones. Accessing Oracle 10g Express with the SqlDbx IDE

Hi, I downloaded Oracle Express a few weeks back.
I finally got round to doing something with it.
I also installed a free IDE called SqlDbx that I was recommended.
When I start up SqlDbx it prmpts me for DBMS Type - I select Oracle Server from a drop down.
Then for the Server I select XE.
There are then 3 boxes for Schema, User, Password.
I dont remember setting anything up when I installed Oracle XE so leave these blank.
I then click OK to connect but get an error logon denied.
Do you know what the default schema, user and password is when you install XE or do you need to do something else to setup them up, if so what?
Is there a better way/tool(free) I could use instead of SqlDbx to connect to the database server?
I checked the service was running in the Windows task manager and it is so that proably isnt the problem.

Otherwhise, there are a few administrative/technical accounts you can use to test your connection and for administrative tasks (e.g., creating a new database user). The administrative accounts would be "SYS" or "SYSTEM" using the password you've entered in the installer.
There is a command line client (sqlplus) to connect these users and create your custom database account, or the database management application that you can access using the "Get Started" link created by the XE installer. Of course, you can also use an IDE.
Either way, I'd recommend to start with the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/admin.112/e18585/toc.htm]Getting Started Guide from the XE documentation library. It's pretty straight forward and contains step by step instructions for exactly the topics you seem to be searching for.
