You must install and configure Oracle10g Lite Release 2 (10.2.0.1) followed by additional patch sets mentioned below before implementing Oracle Mobile Application Foundation. Oracle10g Lite is not included in the R12 Oracle Applications Rapid Install,
so you must install Oracle10g Lite before proceeding to the Oracle Mobile Application Foundation implementation steps.
It seems yes you must install. By the way Before start process I suggest first review below notes, coz that pdf seems old.

Error when installing Oracle Lite for Mobile Field Service Laptop

Hi,
I am facing a strange problem when installing Mobile Field Service Laptop agent "Oracle Lite" on my laptop.
When I run the setup, it asks me username and password, after entering the information, when I proceed, I see setup window which displays below messages
"Authenticating with server... "
Please wait. This may take several minutes ...
Then it hangs for several minutes, approx 5 to 10 mins, and then gives message
"Could not connect to server: HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
I am not able to proceed with setup.
But none of my other colleagues are facing this issue, even though the network, proxy settings and java version are same.
Any idea about this error?

Hi,
Field Service Dispatch Center has Map feature using which a Dispatcher can get a GIS map display of the assigned work, along with the Plan Board and Gantt chart views.
Mobile Field Service Wireless for PDAs has the ability to get driving directions (with a map display) between the assigned tasks. Further, a Field Service Technician can receive directions between any two addresses.

Files for New Field Service Laptop

Server is Oracle Database Lite 10g R3 (10.3.0.2) for Linux and arhitecture is: Oracle Application is install on machine 1, Oracle Database on machine 2, Oracle Lite Database and Mobile Server are install on machine 2.
I want to install to Mobile Server application "new field service technician". I found the CSML.zip on Oracle Application (Machine 1) in folder csm/html/download.
I run java command to run installation manager

In this point, I can see a new application in Mobile Server Administration webpage on Mobile Server.
I acces my server http://myserver:port/webtogo, I'm loggin with administrator user, I acces "mobile manager", In new page oppened, I access my server, then applications link and "new field service laptop" application. Here can see "properties", "access", "data subsetting", "files" and "add war file".
In "Files", I don't have any files.
How can populate with files this application?

Mobile Field Service Laptop - Modify local client pages

Has anyone successfully modified the pages on the local client for Mobile Field Service / Laptop. We are wanting to hide some functions from the field service rep (I.e. Create SR) and change some default values in drop down lists.
We can make the changes to the .jsp pretty easily, but are unable to "push" the changes to the client.
Anyone with ideas / experience?

Is anyone successfully using Mobile Field service - laptop version in 12.2.X ?

We need this type of functionality but we are on 12.0.6. We are considering upgrading but we were going to upgrade later this year. However, we need this type of functionality as soon as possible. Is anyone using Mobile Field Service in 12.2.X with laptops?

I am using an O2 XDA II with Pocket PC 4.2. I am using IAS 9.0.4.0.0.
I have defined a service in my midtier which outputs XML with a signature box:
<SimpleFormItem name="p_signature" type="signature"> etc
My PDA displays the signature box correctly in the web browser.
When I sign the box and press Submit the following data items are returned to the midtier:
Query String: "sigSubmit=mySubmit&sig_width=200&sig_height=100&sig=&personName=tim"
Notice that the sig data is null.
I know that my IAS version is a little low, but, the problem appears to be that the plug-in in the browser is not returning any sig data.
Do I have an old version of the plug-in?
Have you used this plug-in?
Has it worked for you?
Do you know where I can get a newer version of this plug-in as it must work with Oracle Apps?

Can I use Oracle Forms Services 11g with Database 9.2.0.8.0?

Hi everyone.
My department is evaluating development tools in order to build new web applications, and also possibly to migrate current applications buit with Oracle Forms 6.0.5.34.0. Our database is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit.
We have read that the newest Oracle Forms version is Oracle Forms Services 11g. Is Oracle Forms Services 11g compatible with Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit? or would we have to migrate our RDBMS to Oracle 11g?
If our database is compatible, what would we need to develop and deploy applications with Oracle Forms Services 11g?

Wheter it's compatible or not: Database 9.2.0.8 is in sustaining support which means you won't get patches for it. So even if it is compatible I'd opt to upgrade to a newer version, as I wouldn't feel comfortable having a not-supported product out in production.

Oracle field service process flow

Main Process of Field Service is the Service Request, which results into creation of tasks for the field engineer. Once the Tasks are complete, the field engineer completes the debrief process where he enters the details of the Material, Labor and expenses items. Once debrief is closed, a charge statement is created, which results into creation of Order (of type Bill only, no Ship). This invoice goes to AR from OM and thus customer is invoiced.
So basically you can say the end result of the Field service process is creation of an order.

Mobile Field Service Laptop setup login

I have Oracle Lite 10.3.0.2.0 and Oracle Business 12.1.1
I used for implementation note 846572.1 from support.oracle.com
Problem is:
When I try to install the laptop client application I received the error "Invalid the user name/password: my.user".
I checked file webtogo.ora for section "External Authentication" to have CLASS=oracle.apps.asg.setup.AsgAuthenticator and EXPIRATION=0.
Somebody can help?

Path to Java_home it was wrong.
I enabled trace and I see in log the messege "Missing class: oracle.apps.asg.setup.AsgAuthenticator".
I check my java_home which was to jdk folder not to java classes of application. I change and it works.

Wish to create an Installation Service Request for Field Service with Multiple S/N

We are using Oracle 12.1.3 with Teleservice, Field Service and Installed Base. We ship multiple Serial Numbers in a given order then need to dispatch our Field Service technicians in order to install them at the customers locations. I am having a hard time thinking or figuring out the best way to record this in Oracle EBS. Using a Service Request is difficult as there is not a way to list multiple Serial Numbers that we are aware of. Any help or suggestions would be very welcomed.

You are not able to add user input while working "My Activities" or "My Requests" in the portal. They would have to use the Console, and then in the SR they would be able to update the User Input if that is where you wanted to store it. I would
create your own Activity Class (Inherit from Manual Activity) and add the fields for what you want, IP, Hostname etc.. then on the portal when the user request the vm map those values to that activity which is assigned to your network team. when they open
their activity in the console they can add the value for ip. There are many ways you can do this. Which way do you think your team will be most likely to follow.

Field Service - STAR program is completing with Error message

Synchronize Territory Assignment Rules (STAR) program is getting completed with following error message:
Parameters used were 'Service' with a Run mode as 'Total Refresh'. It errors out with 'No data found' error message. (Log file appended below)

Publish a Report with a title by OracleAs Reports Services

the problem is that the title output is always like this: http://mywebserver/myservletpath/rwservlet/getjobid[id]?server=repsrvr.
Is there a way to publish this report with a title on the web browser like 'MyReport'.

else, have you set the env. var. DISLAY ?
It is no more mandatory to set it for Reports but it must be set if you want to use
oraclebarcode.jar :
Set REPORTS_DEFAULT_DISPLAY to NO and initialize DISPLAY with the address of a valid "X Display Server"

I wouldn't try installing Oracle VM itself on an EC2 instance, as EC2 is essentially Xen itself. Rather, you should just be able to transport existing Oracle VM images to the EC2 cloud. I think this is what you mean, but your opening paragraph is slightly ambiguous. :)
From a VPN perspective, I'd use OpenVPN as it has clients for all major operating systems (Windows, MacOS X, Linux) that are fairly easy to package and install. Packages for OpenVPN exist in EPEL so it's easy to install on OEL5. You could also consider using a firewall instead of a VPN and only allowing connectivity from specific IP addresses/ranges. This has the benefit of not requiring client software, but it does require a fixed IP address/range on the client-side.
