    Before we have a oracle test server database The boot folder or location of this server is located at v240 and the drives are located at m4000. After server had been shutdown. We were unable to connect to the server thru ping, telnet and ssh. May I ask if there is a way to up the test server database. Kindly give us instruction on how to do it.

  • Oracle client has a test database for creating SP's?

    I have 10g Oracle client in my machine. Does it have a test database I can connect to and create stored procedures?
    If not, is it possible to create a local database?
    And What about Oracle Express client? Does it come with a test Database? Or do I need to install database in my system for creating SP's ?

  • Archive and Purge in Oracle Financials (verions 11.0.3, database 8.0.5)

    Hi all,
    I am going to purge balances and journals data by using function 'Archive and Purge' in Oracle Financials.
    I want to calculate the space that can free up finally.
    i.e. calculate the difference before and after data purging.
    How to get this information?
    Thanks for your kind response.

    Assuming you have the source data in access97.
    Create tables in Oracle exactly the same as access tables.
    Create links from access ODBC drivers to Oracle tables.
    Export the data from access.
    If you want to keep the sources data in access and update the data everyday, you can use append queries.
    YOu can refresh the data by truncating the destination tables and export fresh.
    Another option is sql*loader. It depends what your situation is.

  • Updating test database from production in Oracle 10g

    What will be easiest way to have production database replicated to test database once a day basis? The 2 databases are on similar machines & same OS

    What sort of test system are you building? Are you building a reporting server so you can run reports on a snapshot of the data? Are you building a staging environment where you can test applying scripts and can simply reapply the DDL changes every day? Or do you have a real testing instance which will generally have slighly different table definitions/ objects/ etc than the production instance?

  • MKS Toolkit for Oracle Financials

    Hello,
    While installing Oracle Financials 11, I received an error that says the following
    ==========================================
    System Utilities Check : command : cmd.exe /c C:\Stage11i\startCD\Disk1\rapidwiz\bin\checkutil.cmd C:\mksnt C:\VC98
    C:\Stage11i\startCD\Disk1\rapidwiz>echo off
    'which' command is not available. Check MKS installation.
    ERRORCODE = 1 ERRORCODE_END
    Error - System Utilities Availability test has returned an error: 1
    =====================================
    Some other posts in this newsgroup say that by installing MKS Toolkit this problem will go away. But MKS Toolkit is available for $500 or so for single user license.
    Question 1. I don't want to do any development on this install. Can I ignore this warning? Will I be able to use the app?
    Question 2. Is there any alternative to MKS Toolkit? Some folks said to use cygwin, but FAQ says that it was not supported.
    Thank you.
    R

    Rahul,
    It is possible to install the initial Oracle applications code and database for 11i.10 without the MKS Toolkit.
    However, once you have the base install completed, you will probably want to install the Cumulative Update 1 (CU1) patch, or install other patches.
    Without the MKS Toolkit (and Visual C++, and GNUMAKE) you will not be able to install any patches requiring a relink of application executables.
    It would be theoretically possible to replace these tools with something like CYGWIN, but it will be A LOT of effort.

  • How to merge these patches EBS: R12.1 Oracle Financials Recommended Patches

    Dear Experts,
    Please note that we have implemented the following modules on E-Business Suit 11.5.10.2 .
    SCM Modules:
    1.     Inventory
    2.     Purchasing
    3.     Order Management
    Finance Modules:
    1.     General Ledger
    2.     Fixed Assets
    3.     Accounts Receivables
    4.     Accounts Payables
    5.     Cash Management
    We have also upgraded our database from 9.2.0.6 to 11g R2 as per the latest metalink interoperablity notes. Currently our EBS Version on test Enviroment is 11.5.10.2 with 11g R2
    please note that as per the metalink note id EBS: R12.1 Oracle Financials Recommended Patches [ID 954704.1], We are in process of analysing the patches.
    Please let us know how to merge these patches and proceed with our R12.1 upgrade driver.
    Please also let us know are there any steps which needs to be performed after the below steps.
    Run the Accounting Health Check and resolve data issues (Note 416699.1)
    Complete all Period Close Actions/Processes. Validate and account as much data as possible and make sure everything is transferred to GL.
    Run your standard reconciliation and account balance reports after period close and resolve issues.
    Run the Accounting Health Check again. Resolve all remaining data issues (Note 416699.1)
    If upgrading to R12.0.x, apply Patch 7653100 (Note 557869.1)
    If upgrading to R12.1.x, apply Patch 8773483:R12.FIN_PF.B (Note 880275.1)
    Proceed with the next steps of the upgrade.
    Your quick action in this regards will be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Mohammed.

    Mohammed,
    I am not an expert although I have significant experience upgrading the database and applications from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and 12.1.3 in both test and production environments. The following are a few thoughts as you continue down the upgrade path:
    Patch 8773483 will need to be installed in pre-install mode along with a number of other pre-install mode patches. If you haven't looked at the following note you will need to since it contains information you need:
    Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 [ID 798258.1]
    Pay particular attention to the README.txt instructions for patch 9179588 since it wants you to merge other patches with it before applying.
    Another note you need to be aware of, especially if you want reconcile past the 6 month window used for accrual write offs during the upgrade, is:
    R12.0 and R12.1: FAQ for the SLA Upgrade: SLA Pre-Upgrade, Post-Upgrade, and Hot Patch [ID 604893.1]
    Other good sources of information for financials are:
    Impact of R12 Design in Procure To Pay Accounting Flow [ID 429105.1]
    Projects Uptake of the TCA Architecture in Release 12 [ID 417511.1] <--- AR/TCA (HZ) table join information that is very good
    Payments In Order Management In R12 [ID 1164613.1]
    If you don't have XLE and ZX currently licensed in your 11.5.10.2 instance, you will need to license them so the tax conversion runs successfully.
    If you have legal entity identifications that are more than 30 characters, you will want to be aware of the size limitation imposed on the column LEGAL_ENTITY_IDENTIFIER in the table XLE.XLE_ENTITY_PROFILES, The following job will fail if the combined values exceed the LEGAL_ENTITY_IDENTIFIER column length which is shortened in R12:
    xleupg01.sql
    There are lots of potential pitfalls in an R12 upgrade. You simply need to test, test, and test again everything you use, read the RCD's and R12 documentation as much as possible, etc ... Having said that, there are many good things about an R12 upgrade too, from both the functional and technical perspectives.

  • Creating a test database from backups of the production

    Hello Experts,
    I am a newbie with very much new in Oracle. I have been provided with the inc0 backup(which comprises even the controlfile backup) of the production database (PROD) taken through RMAN and asked to create a new test database (TEST) using the backup. Can anyone please provide me the steps on how to restore it and create the new database ?
    Database version 10.2.0.4
    I am aware of duplicate database concept using RMAN, but I have been asked to not to connect to the target (PROD) database while duplicating. So, I need to create the test database by using the backup of prod database without connecting to PROD database. Please guide me.

    Refer
    http://arjudba.blogspot.in/2008/05/restore-and-recover-database-to-new.html
    RMAN restore database from another backup of different database name
    When you are restoring using the backup of the production database, the db_name would be same on the auxiliary database. Once you restore and recover the database in your test server, you can change the db_name from prod to test by recreating the controlfile

  • Sequencing and Trigger on Oracle 9i lite database

    We created a schema (TESTSCHEMA) on Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise edition and have a created a trigger which will use the sequence object to generate primary key for the table (TEST_TABLE)
    Sequence creation:
    CREATE SEQUENCE TESTSCHEMA.TEST_TABLE_SEQUENCE START WITH 6000 INCREMENT BY 1 MINVALUE 6000 MAXVALUE 6999 NOCACHE NOCYCLE NOORDER ;
    Trigger creation:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER TEST_TABLE INSERT BEFORE INSERT ON TEST_TABLE FOR EACH ROW
    DECLARE
    pkValue NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    pkValue := 0;
    Select TEST_TABLE_SEQUENCE.NextVal into pkValue from dual;
    :NEW.TEST_KEY := pkValue;
    END TEST_TABLE_INSERT;
    We have created a snapshot of the schema on mobile server, synchronized the data with the client (Win32 for testing purpose).
    The trigger works fine on the server, but when I run the same query on the lite database with msql it gives me an error:
    [POL-3221] null key in primary index
    I was wondering if Sequence generation and Triggers are supported on Oracle 9i lite database ? Or am I missing out something ??
    Any information/ help is appreaciated
    Thanks
    Neeraj

    You can't use SAVEPOINT / ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT statements in the database trigger:
    ORA-04092: cannot SET SAVEPOINT in a trigger
    ORA-04092: cannot ROLLBACK in a trigger
    I am not sure what you need exactly, but you can try this:

  • Unable to connect to a Test database in UPK.

    Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I recently had the Production version of UPK cloned to a virtual server and UPK is able to connect to the test database but when I launch UPK on my workstation and start the process of adding the Test Profile, it gives me an authentication error when I choose my current Windows login account to authenticate. I am running UPK version 3.6.1 and Oracle 10g database on a different server. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it? Please advise.

    Hi,
    Can you test network connectivity with your Unix Server with a Telnet on your DirectAccess client. If it works, problem is not located on server-side but on DirectAccess client-side. Maybe your SSH client force IPv4 use (using IPv4 to connect instead
    of hostnames, or legacy DLL use). I had a similar case with a client-server application that only rely on IPv4. I had to cheat with NETSH.EXE PORTPROXY as illustrated in my blog post :
    http://danstoncloud.com/blogs/simplebydesign/archive/2012/02/11/tcpv4-based-applications-with-directaccess.aspx
    Hope this help.

  • Oracle Reports with Oracle Financials (FMIS)

    Hi folks,
    I'm in a bit of a bind at the moment. I really really need a little help getting an understanding of Oracle Report Writer. The situation is as follows:
    I'm currently working on a system that moves data from an SQL Server 7.0 Database into some Oracle Financials (FMIS) Interface Tables. The Interface tables are apparently used to post Customer and Invoicing information into the real Oracle Financials tables, for Invoicing and General Ledger purposes.
    Its come to my understanding that Oracle ReportWriter is no longer available on the market today? Is this true? The reason why I ask is, my client is tossing with the idea of using Oracle ReportWriter over Crystal Reports.
    The only thing that I have heard is that Oracle Report Writer is a much more powerful tool than Crystal Reports. So I guess the main question would be, is Report Writer a more powerful and easy to use application over other report writing tools?
    Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    Vick,
    I believe it is all in the name. Oracle ReportWriter is long gone; however it has evolved to Oracle Reports which is going strong. The current version is Oracle Reports 6i and has been out for more than a year. It was preceeded by Oracle Reports 6.0, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and finally ReportWriter1.1,.... The Early versions were packaged in various bundles with our other tools.
    Oracle Reports is a very powerful reporting tools and stacks up very well against Crystal. One big advantage is that we work extremely well against an Oracle Database (no external drivers to go through). We also run on a greater variety of machines including Unix. We provide XML output and integration with our other BI tools, Discoverer and Express as well as Oracle Portal. Reports can be deployed over the web using standard CGI/Servlet technology. I don't have room to mention all the advantages, but click on this link to our OTN website for a high level overview Reports 6i. http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/pdf/iasreports.pdf
    Other documentation is also available to show you the power of Oracle Reports 6i.

  • Oracle Financials and Forms Applications Integration

    Hi All,
    I am new to Oracle financials forums and i have few trivial questions. One of our customer has our forms application now the customer wants to integrate that with ORACLE Financials. Is it possible and if so how, please elaborate or help me with relevant links or examples, URL's, case studies from where i can pick some good approximation about integration.
    Our application version 10g Forms application version - 10.1.2.3 running with 10g Database.
    1) How this can be done.
    2) Are there any past case studies with similar approach which was successfully implemnted.
    3) What are the restrictions if this cant be done.
    My questions might be quiet trivial. I request the forum users to participate and discuss on this.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the documents.
    Yes we have a product running with Forms 11g. So with your experience can you share similar documents or any notes which doesn't supports any of the forms features or compatibility issues which would arise while integrating. Though i understand this is a open ended question at this point in time, just want to grab the knowledge of PRO's like you on this subject. Hope you help me on this.

  • Oracle BI with Oracle Financials

    How easy is it to prepare the Oracle database to allow Oracle BI to integrate with Oracle Financials?
    To expand, our organization is currently using Oracle Financials and we are considering implementing Oracle BI to support reporting. Is this fairly easy to do given the current database structure or would all the dimensions need to be configured?

    If you are using oracle financials , then implementing oracle BI using oracle production like discoverer, portal, BI beans would be easy and straight.
    there would be no requirement like ETL , Datawarehousing etc. Do you have already some support reporting system or is this new conceprt in your workplace.
    if this is new ,that it would be great , else you need to identiy how to map the existing reporting scenarios to be mapped in oracle BI. please explain your query a bit to add more detail, thanks
    Shiv
