Oracle Forms: Technical Documentation Generator Tool (FoReDoclet, HTML)
Dear Oracle Forms Developers,
Nostran Computing has released FoReDoclet, our technical documentation generator tool for Oracle Forms:
Technical features:
- Generates HTML documentation about form, menu, PL/SQL library and object library source files similarly to JavaDoc.
- Uses the Comment property of internal objects (blocks, parameters, alerts)
- Parses pl/sql elements (procedures, functions, packages, triggers) as well as standard internal elements.
- The generated HTML documentation is highly customizable by style sheets or direct template modification.
- Accepts HTML codes in Comments property fields and PL/SQL comment blocks.
Business benefits:
- Eliminates the need of writing separate technical documentation, works directly from the source.
- Provides a low-cost and efficient way of producing high-quality technical documentation for Oracle Forms based applications.
For details, see: http://www.nostran.com/products/foredocletHI Arun
where can we get this forms documentation?
Thankyou

( I have searched oracle.forms api & documentation on google but i am unable to find them.
the link : http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/oracle9i_arch_901.html
contains a lot of documentation files, but i am not sure these are the ones that i need.

I want to use the following packages / classes :-

I want to find out more about the above mentioned packages, and i thought that javadocs / api would be the most comprehensive help that i can get.

Where's the Oracle Forms Java API documentation for 11g?
Hi,
Can anyone point me in the direction of the Oracle Forms Java API documentation?
The only thing I can find is this: http://www.oratransplant.nl/1012jdapiDoc/oracle/forms/jdapi/JdapiModule.html but this seems to be for 10.1.2 and it doesn’t correspond to the version I’m using (11.1.1.3).
Help appreciated,
Donal.i couldn't find the api either however if you implement the class you will simply get compiler errors explaining what you left out.

Can some tell me where to find the documentation for Oracle forms 6i,11g
Hi Everyone
Can someone please tell me where to find the online documentation for Oracle Forms 11g and 6i .
Thanks in advance
GautamMost of the design time documentation is included in the Design-time tools (Builders). Specifically in the Builder Online Help. This information is no longer available on a web site. As for Forms 6i, hardly any of that information is available on the Oracle site any longer. That version has been obsolete for several years. You can find some of the old deployment documentation for 6i (6.0.8):

Download Oracle Forms 4.5 documentation
hi,
I want to download Oracle forms 4.5 complete documents. Can any one help me where i can look for that.
Thanks.
AlkaHi,
I am sorry, I am writing to you but not in regards to your problem. Rather, I need a favor, can you pls upload a set of files to install forms 4.5 and reports 2.5 on some webserver and give me a link?
Alternatively, if you know of a link, pls let me know.
I have an old development, I need to make some changes in that and it has become a must for me, because with conversion to forms 6.0 I am getting errors.
Thanks

Oracle Forms Builder 10g release 2 documentation?
I'm trying to locate a book about Oracle Forms Builder 10g release 2. I'm needing a beginner's guide. I've seen the advanced techniques one, but I can't seem to find one for someone that is just starting out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
There are a couple of books by Albert Lulushi that will give you the basics you can build upon. These are older books, but the concepts they present are still valid.
<ul>
<li>Developing Oracle Forms Applications (Aug 1996)
<li>Oracle Forms Developer's Handbook (Dec 2000)
</ul>
Probably more helpful would be some online tutorials. Again, some of these are a little old, but the concepts are still valid for Forms 10g and 11g.
Although a few of the following links are for older Forms versions, the concepts are still valid across all Forms versions.
<ul>
<li>A Tutorial on Oracle9i Forms and Reports
<li>Tutorial for Oracle10g Forms / Reports
<li>iSelfSchooling - Basic Introduction to Forms
<li>Oracle Forms 10g: Demos, Tips and Techniques
</ul>
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

Oracle Forms code review documentation tool?
To achieve an SEI Level-3 certification, one must do code reviews. Is there a tool for creating a document containing 'all the code' in an Oracle*Form v6.0?
We are basically looking for the equivalent of the old FORMDOC feature of Forms 4.0; it listed all the attributes of the blocks, items, record groups, triggers, pl/sql program units... everything!Thanks... I looked at that and didn't think it was all in there, but I looked again after I got your reply and it appears to be what we are looking for (at least a starting point).

Unable to do UPDATE in Oracle Form 10.1.2
Hi,
I am using an LOV to query data from a master-type table.
-- WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED in button Retrieve
declare
l_number number;
a_value_chosen boolean;
begin
a_value_chosen := Show_LOV('LOV_CUSTOMER');
if not a_value_chosen then
message('No value selected');
raise form_trigger_failure;
end if;
end;First, I choose a value from the LOV. The LOV showed the selected items in the Form.
Next, I modified some values (not the Primary Key) in the Form text items.
Finally, I tried to Save the modification into table, using
-- WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED in button Save
commit_form;
clear_form;Surprisely, it showed
FRM-40508: ORACLE error, unable to INSERT record.
BTW,
Previuosly, I can do UPDATE if I use the Enter Query and Execute Query button.
I did not attempt to do inserting, just updating.
Could someone show where is the problem?
Is the form status not changed by the query returned from LOV?
Any help would be grateful.
Many thanks,
ImeldaHi,
Glad I found all of you in this forum.
Thanks for all of the explanations.
I thought by using LOV would suppress the network traffic.
If the use of LOV would give lots of drawbacks, then I should see the Enter_Query() Execute_Query() instead.
BTW,
I found the button Enter Query and Execute Query on the toolbar.
(Seems that Oracle Form provides lots of help to simplify the programming)
I have some sort of problems in using them :
1. Well, they do the query and retrieve the records for a match query criteria.
But it did not give any specific message if the record does not exist.
The message bar (for unknown reason) is showing
"Enter a query; press CTRL+F11 to execute, F4 to cancel."
Can we change this behaviour?
Perhaps, showing "No record(s) are retrieved for this query. Either change the query criteria; press CTRL+F11 to execute, F4 to cancel."
2. I found the Count Hits from Query menu.
Based on the documentation, the message line will show the records number returned based on query
criteria, without actually retruning the records to the user.
I am not sure whether this function has been removed for the Oracle Developer 10g (10.1.2), since
there is nothing happen, and the message line keep showing
"Enter a query; press CTRL+F11 to execute, F4 to cancel."
Do we tho do some modification to the Forms to use Count Hits?
3. I read on the documentation about Query Where dialog box.
Query Where will be showed if user enter a colon ':' in a field in Enter Query mode for query criteria.
Again, I am not sure whether this function has been removed too.
the message line showed :
FRM-40367: Invalid criteria in field <field_name> in example record.
It happens if the criteria contains # or : or &
Or is it done via another way?
Any help would be grateful.
Many thanks,
Imelda. -
Oracle Forms 6 to Latest version
Hi all, now am I in deep water. I'm totally newbie on Oracle Forms.
We still have Oracle forms 6, and we use it for a old Tuxedo service repository.
I guess that we are not the first to upgrade to something newer, so I hope there is someone out here who can
help me with links or some other info where to start looking.
Anyone?
Thanks in advanceYes, the number of people still using forms 6 have become smaller now. There was a major release of 10g after that, and last summer, FMW 11g came out which offers the latest version for forms too.
Please see this link for [forms upgrade guide from 6i to 11g|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e10394/toc.htm]. Do not expect that you will be able to do anything by reading just one or two documents. So first spend some good amount of time in reading documentations before jumping into implementation. -
Using Java Access bridge (Accessibility) with oracle forms 6.0 client
I'm trying to use JAB (java Access bridge ) to capture events in oracle forms 6.0 client .
I've a Jinitiator 1.1.8 and JRE version 1.4x
I've configured JAB as per the installation guide . However the events don't surface in Java Monkey .
Has anybody encountered similar issue ? what is the solution for the issue ??
Also on one of the forums I read Jinitiator 1.3x and above is automatically recognised by Java Access bridge .
For jinitiator version less than 1.3 manual configuration is required . however I haven;'t been able to find any on the oracle forms KB
Also here is the excerpt from the link http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/faqs/index.html
Q: Are there special steps for using Java-based applications with assistive technology?
A: If the Oracle application is written in Java, such as JDeveloper or Oracle Forms (runtime), customers must first install the latest version of Sun's Java Access Bridge. The Java Access Bridge provides the integration with screen readers such as JAWS or SuperNova that support Java. You just download the Access Bridge and install it. Sun's AccessBridge 2.0x recognizes Oracle's JInitiator 1.3x and above so no manual configuration steps are necessary. The Access Bridge is available from: http://java.sun.com/products/accessbridge. At the time this document was written, Access Bridge 2.0.1 is the most current publicly available production release; Oracle recommends upgrading to this version. Sun's AccessBridge is bundled with Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) and can be found in the Java Runtime Engine (JRE). More information for configuring such products is in the respective product documentation, or on http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/products/index.html.

Dear Oracles,
I am facing problems while installing Oracle Forms 11g
I read many documentations - and follow many pages during installing - but the same error appears every time
I installed Oracle Web Logic Server wls1035_generic.jar perfectly, and then create a web logic domain through Fusion Middleware config wizard
and test the web server through
http://localhost:7001/console
http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/8558/consoleto.jpg
and then installed Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 using ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_32 3 - Disks
I chose Install S/w only - it was installed successfully
then I opened Configure Classic instance and follow wizard
It stopped at creating domain
every time i try it.

]]In addition to Craig's feedback consider the following:
If you did not read the system requirements and installation guide, you likely will have problems.
http://docs.oracle.com/html/E25460_01/r2_fr_requirements.htm
<blockquote>1. Does your machine have a static IP address and/or the Windows Loopback adapter installed and configured?
2. You indicated that you have 2gig of RAM. This is the minimum requirement just to install the product. It is very unlikely that you will be able to comfortably use the product with 2gig of RAM. Likely the performance will be so slow that processes will timeout before they can successfully start. You can actually see this occurring already - look carefully at the log info you posted.
Further, if you are also attempting to run an 11g database on the same machine, this will never happen. Having only 2gig of RAM will never support running the DB and the components of FMw, and the Operating System.</blockquote> -
Oracle forms 10g (win Xp middle tier IE 8 Win 7- IE 8 client)
forms services 10.1.2.0.2
Database 11gR2 also on Win Xp pro SP3
Hi
I have a problem with java and Jinitiator and my understanding of what is / should be happening.
In the file forms/server/formsweb.cfg see below. I can alter the parameter
baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
###baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htm
between the two alternatives. As it stands as shown the IE8 on the middle tier and on the database PC both work as near correctly as i can tell. On the Win 7 client IE 8 however crashes. switch it to the other way around and the
win 7 works and the win xp on the database server stops with frm-92095 error version number too low. while on the middle tier Xp PC a blank doucument is displayed.
How can i have both working at the same time please. I you need more information i will happily supply it.

lookAndFeel=oracleYou have a mixture of problems here.
1. Oracle Jinitiator is not supported for use on Windows 7
2. JRE 1.7 is not supported for use with any version of Forms on any platform. Be sure you do not have this version installed.
3. JRE 1.6 is not supported for use with Forms 10.1.2.0.2, however is supported with 10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622) and only with IE 8
4. In order to use Win 7 with Forms 10 in a certified and supported manner, you must use 10.1.2.3 (meaning 10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622).
In short, my recommendation would be the following:
o Patch to 10.1.2.3 (assuming you have access to MyOracleSupport)
o Don't bother trying to use Oracle Jinitiator as it is old and has been desupported for a long time.
o Uninstall any instances of Jinitiator as it can cause conflicts with other JRE installations.
o Uninstall all instances of JRE 1.7. Reconfig your formsweb.cfg to use the JRE (Java Plugin) 1.6.0
