Oracle forms and web developer server??

I downloaded web developer server, such as an Eclipse IDE with all, Spring, Struts, Hibernate... but I think this is not for Oracle Forms, isn'it? I'm very newbie, but I would like to install all the things I need.
Thank you.
I'm using Oracle 11g, with suse 11.1. On the other way, I also have windows XP with oracle weblogic server.

  • How to deploy the Oracle Forms and Reports 10g in Web?

Currently I am working in Oracle forms & Reports conversion project (6i to 10g).
As of now 6i forms working as a standalone application. After migrated it to 10g, I need to deploy the forms and reports in web.
Any one know how to deploy the Oracle forms and Reports in web?
Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

    Hello Frank,
for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.
    Best regards,

  • Migrating Oracle forms and reports from 6i to 10g Application server on Uni

    HI Guys,
We are migrating from Oracle forms and reports 6i to 10g.
We will be having application server on Unix box.
I understand following will be the changes i will have to do in this respect -
    1. Fonts are to be revisited only Java fonts are supported.
    2. Obsolete items, function calls, triggers are to be removed.
My question is since this application can be cross platform application,
Can anyone provide me with changes that I will have to do with configuration files like -
    1. Formsweb.cfg,
    2. forms.conf
    3. default.env
    4. registry.dat
Keeping in mind that the application server will be on unix box.
    Thanks,
    Av.

Java fonts are only supported for the Forms version.
You can use your own fonts for Reports however, there is some legwork to do this. I know because I just went through it.
If you will only being using the PDF output (which for me replaced the Preview mode that existed in 6i), then you have to install the TTF for the missing font, an AFM (use the ttf2pt1 utility to generate the AFM file, but make sure you remove the AFM extension when moving it to Unix). You'll want to use the PDF Subset in the uifont.ali (which exists under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin directory and add the line underneath the PDF Subset "Font Family Name"="TTF Font Name" The font family name is found when you open the AFM file in textpad or wordpad for the font you generated. This is what you enter. The TTF Font Name is the name the TTF font. You'll have to restart Reports Server after this.
If printing to the printer directly is an option you must have, I will tell you it does not work in Linux right now. You can print to the printer but if the font doesn't exist on the internal memory of the printer, it won't work. There are 3rd party utilities like ORARRP and PDFPrint that can take care of this but, each has its own limitations. The one thing I found with ORARRP is if you generate a Report with an RRPA file extension and open it on Windows, it works great, the printer dialog comes up asking you what printer you want to print too. However, if you call this in Linux/Unix with the filename, it brings it up in the web browser but doesn't prompt you for your printer to print too automatically. So, for me, it's a show stopper. My only other option is to install the fonts on the printer that are missing.
As for the files you want to change, you'll obviously have to make changes to the formsweb.cfg, default.env, forms.conf. I have to modify the reports.sh for some PL/SQL attached libraries to make sure it picks them up. I did have to modify Registry.dat.
There is alot of work but mainly forms wasn't too bad, unless you had fonts that weren't supported. Usually there is another font that you can use to replace the old one but you have to know which fonts exists on the server and try all the keys on the keyboard to find the corresponding keystroke.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle forms and reports in SQL Server

My company has developed a application in Oracle forms and reports that works with a Oracle database. In the database also exist a lot of triggers, procedures, functions and packages.
The application is working perfectly with the Oracle database but I have a request from a very promissing potencial client that has the restriction that could only use a SQL Servr database.
I know that we have to create a new version of the all database objects, including triggers, function, procedures but my main question is if is possible and if works a forms/reports application connected to a SQL Server database?
    Thank you for your help

    MichaelFerrante,Thank you for your help.
I have already used the HS services to connecto to external databases from our main Oracle database, and the solution works fine.
But unfortunally for this particular client he cannont have installed a Oracle database due to internal policies restrictions.
I can not migrate the full application to another technology like ADF in less than 6 or 8 months.
Do you thifnk that there is any other solution?

  • Softwares and Licenses necessary to move Oracle forms and Reports to web

We are planning to migrate to Oracle forms and Reports 10g (Developer Suite 10g) . Can someone help me to identify the software and licenses required to deploy forms and reports on the web. We are using Forms/reports 6i with 10g database. We already have 10g database license. We have 15-20 only concurrent users using the application.
Thanks for your help in advance.

If you only need Forms and Reports you can use Forms & Reports Services Standalone version, dowloadable from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html

  • Install Oracle Forms and Reports 11g (11.1.1.4)

    Dear Gurus,
I would like to install Oracle Forms and Reports 11g (11.1.1.4) on Windows 2012 Server. So could you please suggest me whether Windows 2012 is certified or not for installing Oracle Forms and Reports 11g (11.1.1.4) .
    Thanks & Regards,
    Satish Kumar Sadhu.

    Hi Satish,
Forms 11.1.1.4 is not certified for Windows Server 2012. Further more, no 11g Forms release is actually certified by Oracle to run on Windows Server 2012.
I would use Windows Server 2008 and use Forms 11.1.2.1 (11gR2). 11gR2 is the best release from Oracle and will run much better than Forms 11.1.1.4.
For a peace of mind, you can check My Oracle Support - Certifications Tab and/or the published Certification Matrices below:
    11gR1 Matrix (For releases 11.1.1.x): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11gr1certmatrix.xls
    11gR2 Matrix (For releases 11.1.2.x): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/oracle-forms-11gr2certmatrix-519680.xls

  • How to set connection between oracle forms and DB?

    I have installed win xp,
    oracle database 10g in c drive ,
oracle forms and reports 10g in d drive ,
how do i set the connection between forms and DB ?
i know its an old question but i am very new to this !
    thanks in advance.

You didn't mention the versions or whether you are using Developer Suite or Application Server. I guess it really doesn't matter in this case, but please provide complete information in the future.
In order to connect the F/R home to a db you will need to make the appropriate configuration entries in tnsnames.ora found in the F/R home (\NETWORK\ADMIN). The entry you add will be similar to the one found in the tnsnames.ora for the db which is found in a similar directory in the db home. The entry will look something like this:
    ORCL =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myMachine)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = myMachine)
      )

  • Oracle Form and FormFlow go together?

FormFlow is an form development tool by JetForm. It generate form in form of Active X component. It renders the form in black-white paper look.
I'm wondering if it is possible to use Oracle Form and FormFlow together. Anyone has any ideas or suggestion or direct me to some good online resources?
    Thanks

<< Why Forms/Reports 6i and not something later, BTW? >>
Presumably he has to support a client/server application. They haven't all disappeared overnight, despite what Oracle tell everyone.

  • Oracle Forms and Oracle HTML DB

    Hi,
can anyone please tell me the difference between oracle forms and oracle htmldb.
i need to create web applications to display data from database and upload newly entered data in to the database.
can the above be done by both forms and htmldb.
    which one is better.

Both can display data from the database via the web.
With the very little criteria you mentioned, I would recommend HTML DB. With more details about the requirements, I may change that recommendation.
I have been working with HTML DB off and on for about one year. I have taken one 3-day course. I have worked with Oracle Forms since 1987 version 2.0, so I know quite a bit about it.
    Here are my reasons:
1.) File upload is easier in HTML DB. HTML DB provides an easy means for uploading a file to the database and processing it.
2.) HTML DB is included as part of the database product. There is no other licensing fee for it. Oracle Forms is part of the Oracle IDS product which a separate purchase from the database.
3.) For HTML DB all you need is the database and the HTTP server program running. It is easy to install, even for a DBA non-webmaster type person. (DBAs who are also webmasters please do not hammer me on this comment.) For Oracle Forms on the web, you need the Oracle Application Server up and running which is a major undertaking. It also needs its own Oracle database running for the infrastructure.
4.) Since you are asking about both, I would assume that you are not familiar with either product and will need to be trained. HTML DB is easier learn than Oracle Forms. Oracle Forms is very powerful, but with that power comes a lot to learn.
Oh yea, did I mention that if you own the Oracle database, you also own HTML DB!! ;)
