Oracle Forms API Development Kit

Does anyone know where to find the forms development kit? I have done a search of OTN and of TechNet and have received 0 results. Does this exist any more? I found it referenced in the FormsAPI Master S/W.

I don't know about discoverer. Be aware that if you are installing discoverer or portal it wants a database to put the repository in.
so then you would have to install xe also?
Note: if the development machines do not have static ip numbers the software has some fragilities regarding that. I can't say I understand how
it works. But you definitely need to figure out what needs to go in the hosts file and whether it needs a ms loopback adapter or not before
you set a number of people off to install this. This gave me the all time most trouble for installing on a < 2008/7 machine. On any machine make sure there are no parentheses in the path as that will be a fatality scenario.

Hi,
Try the built-in procedure WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT. See some examples in the on-line help of Forms.
You can call this built-in procedure in a Form level trigger , called 'KEY-HELP' (when the user presses the <Ctrl>+<H> buttons) , or if you have a button on the form use the trigger 'WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED'.

Oracle Forms Application Development

Hi,
Hope l find you well. l am fairly new to the oracle platform and my company is still on forms 6i. l have, however managed to install database 11g2. My challenge is that l now want to design a small system that members of staff in the IT Dept can use to log in their daily work or assignments.
Basically the system will request a member to log in a query as it comes from the user, then the member will update what he or she will have done to solve that challenge. It should also be able to show if the challenge has been solved or not. There must be reports which show what has been done by each member say on a monthly basis, what is pending and what has been closed.
Can someone guide me accordingly on where l should start from. Pliz encompass eveyrthing in your help from the software itself to the PL/SQL.

Thanks for your guidance. What l mean here is that we have a department which services user requests. These may be systems user support, maintenance, upgrades etc. Personnel in this department are whom l am calling members. Their customers are the users of the company system. Now we now want to come up with a system that monitors the daily duties of the department members. So these becomes the users of the new system, but to draw a line between the users of the company system, who are customers to the department, and users of the new system, who are members of the department, l have termed users of the new system, MEMBERS and users of the company system. USERS. Correct me if this arrangement does not make sense to you.
So the objective of the new system is to capture the daily activities of the members of the department.
When a member gets a query or a request to solve a challenge by a user of the company system, this request has to be logged in the new system as a job (pending). When the member attends to the job, he/she should then update the progress on the new system. When the job has been closed, it should again be updated on the new system.
I don't know if this is clear.

in order to find out the user exits for any tcode,
1. get the developement class of the tcode from SE93.
2. Now goto transaction SMOD and press F4,
3. give in the Deve class in the dev class and Press ENTER
this will show u the exits for any tcode.

Possible memory leak in forms api 6i

There appears to be a bug in forms 6i.
I am getting an error at the following snippet of code. The Name prints fine and the whole code runs great if i comment out free(v_value), but obviously i would not want to do that.
I am using MS VC++ 6.0 compiler,
The error is::
HEAP[xephr.exe]: Invalid Address specified to RtlFreeHeap( 3540000, 364fc08 )
This means that i am trying to free the memory which has already been freed, meaning thereby that api has already freed the memory associated with name. But then why should the api function d2fobgt_GetTextProp free the memory allocated for name as i am supposed to free it.
Now that appears to be a bug.
Please suggest...

I read your message cause i look for a answer to a big problem i encountered while trying sample code from Oracle Forms API : it's impossible to create the Forms API Context, the d2fctxcr_Create() function always return D2FS_FAIL.
As your problem seem to be happened after this call, i wonder you can create the context without errors.
Here the code I used, so perhaps you can see my error (I compile under VC6) :

Exposing Oracle FORMS to PORTAL...?

Is there any sample available for exposing Oracle FORMS 6. developed application to PORTAL. Or is there anything needs to be installed on PORTAL server to access Oracle FORMS...!

The note is basically for Portal 3.0.9.x, but the concepts discussed in this Note shoutd give you the necesssary ideas.

Run Oracle form non-interactively

I am using Oracle 8i.
I want to be able to run a form non-interactively, that is, in batch mode.
The reason for that is that the application is a "turn-key" package and I don't have access to the source. I want to be able to run the form from a UNIX script rather than having a human key in the input.
I know what the screen fields need to be and which function key to "press".
Has anyone run a form non-interactively?
Is this possible?
Can anyone suggest a way of doing this? I was thinking that the UNIX utility expect may help.

there is no errors but there is no bean to appear when i invoke it?

Oracle forms installation - some help need

I am trying to install Oracle forms - but get the follwing message:

actually - I have no choice to choose y and try what's going on - so - is this means that I shoul add some 1.5 GB of RAM to my computer? (I have already 700MB, only 300 of them are used)? I am using WinXP, free HD is above 3.5 GB, 2.4GHz processor.
Can I try to find some workaround - e.g. simply try to copy jar's from 'stage' (direcotry in installation disk) in Oracle application server's lib directory (where it is in Oracle_Home directory?)?
Any experience with installing Oracle forms?
This was trying to run setup.exe, but when I am trying to run wsf.exe - I get:
SEVERE: Unable to locate the MDAC Update Status registry key value, probably because the installation was aborted.
MDAC possibly stands for Microsoft Data Access Components? If so - where is problem - I can run a lot of DB servers, including Oracle server itself normally?
BTW - is there any free service available for Oracle Forms skills development (e.g. as for Oracle SQL the Intel test drive is available?)

and I am trying to install
Oracle Deveoper Suite: 10.1.2.0.2 (so - a bit higher)
I can run OUI without any problems, my Default JRE is 1.5_1 - so - all seems to be OK?
