  • Can Oracle Forms access SAP R/3's Oracle 9i Database?

I have an SAP R/3 with an Oracle 9i R2 database.
I would like to access the contents of say KNA1 in Oracle 9i.
Has any one try to integrate SAP R/3 using an Oracle Forms, say formaple, to maintain or just search/enquiry customer details in the table called KNA1?
    Any discussion is welcome.

If it's an oracle database and you have a username and password that is able to connect to the database, then yes, you can connect Oracle forms to it.
Beware that you don't breach any support agreements with SAP, though or alter any data within the system that might cause corruption!
    Cheers,
    R

  • Bug in Oracle Forms 9i triggers

I've found a bug in oracle forms 9i. It happens when you have a select query inside a when-validate-item trigger and in that query you opt to show an alert when the query has encountered an exception...
When that trigger is fired, the alert will show even if the query returns a record(which means that it does not go through the exception). The solution is to recompile the said trigger.
Is this bug present in the other versions of Oracle forms?
Is there a patch for this bug?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I've consulted with some of my colleagues who have been using Oracle forms for more than 5 years now, and they said that the bug seems to randomly appears...The code works fine in the local environemnt (forms builder) and in the AS itself (compiled in Unix) but after sometime, the bug appears and they just compiled the trigger where the code of the alert is in...
Is there any logical explanation of why compiling a trigger (without changing any code) solves this problem?

You can't change this aspect of the Tree Control in Oracle Forms using built-in functionality. You might be able to extend the Tree Control using Java, but you have to do this yourself. : (

  • Problem Querying Oracle Forms Using a Date Field and a Format Mask

    Hello,
We are experiencing a problem with Oracle Forms that I was wondering if you can help me with.
We have several Forms that have single database blocks assigned to Oracle tables. The Forms are queryable and one of the fields we’re querying on is assigned to a field on the base table which is Not Null and has a Type of DATE. We are storing date/time information in this field on the database table. The item on the form is set up as a Date field with a Maximum Length of 7, a Format Mask ‘MMDDYY’ and having a Query Length of 10.
We’ve seen a discrepancy in how these fields are used to query the base table block. On some user’s computers they are able to enter a 6 digit date followed by the % sign (e.g. ‘091808%’) and they get the expected results. Other users get ‘FRM-40301: Query caused no records to be retrieved. Re-enter’. Do you know why we are experiencing this difference?
    - The Oracle Database version we are running is Release 10.1.0.5.0.
    - The Forms Developer version that we’re experiencing the problem with is 4.5.10.15.2
    Thanks,
    Kris

There is no obvious reason that I can see.
Version 4.5 is very old so you might have problems calling Oracle Support. If you can reproduce the same problem o0n 10.1.2 you should call have them analyze the problem.

  • Tooltip not visible on hierarchical tree in Oracle Forms 11g

    But still its not working!!!
However it works for Oracle 10g forms.
Is this some kind of restriction only in Oracle 11g forms for the hierarchical items? Please help!

Can anyone help me in installing oracle forms and reports on ubuntu. You can send me the link or email me.

    Anup NAIR

Which version r u planning to install? 6i or 10g?
If you are planning for 10g , I think it is not supported by Oracle.
I found the below link which tells step by step process though you need to do your own research as well.
    http://www.eckford.ca/Sympatico/htdocs/ODS_Install.html
Please let me know whether it worked or not.
I am also planning to install it on BOSS Linux.

  • Connect Oracle Forms 6i with Sql server

Plz tell how to connect oracle Developer 6i with Microsoft Sql Server 2005.
    thanks

thanksOracle Forms is best used against an Oracle database... so why on Earth would you want to use it against SQL Server?
Aside from that, Oracle Forms is old technology... you'd be better using Oracle Application Express (Apex) for producing web based apps.
If you must do things against an SQL Server database, you would need to set up heterogenous services connectivity (HS) and treat the SQL Server database as an external database.

the script is available out of the box  and I need to customize it, but I am not getting it.How to do this.
I have gone through the Oracle scripting guide for the same, but not getting much help from there.
I am new to Oracle Form recognition, please help!

    Hi Tony,
In my previous reply, I was under the assumption that our organization was on the way to upgrate our Core application (on production) to Oracle 10g, well now I have found out that this is not possible, because our DBA's attempt to apply patches after installation of 10g has failed and we are not going to upgrade to 10g until a replacement for this system is put in place. This forces us to stay with Oracle 8i for some time to come. As a result, using client_host is no longer an option because as you know WebUtil only works with Orace 9i or later. Having said that, what should I try to use instead of 'Client_host'? I still would have to call a VB application from an Oracle Form 9.0.4.
    Thank you in advance,
    Seyed

  • Is there any way to set a calendar event in MS Outlook from Oracle Forms

I need to set and delete events in MS Outlook from an Oracle Form (version 10gR2).
Is there any way to accomplish this?
    Thanks

You will need to use OLE on the client, which would further require the use of WebUtil. Here (below) are a couple of MS examples that you would need to convert to pl/sql. There are a variety of Oracle notes which discuss reading and writing to MS Word and Excel. These can likely be used as a starting place to talk to Outlook. There is a WebUtil demo which includes an example of how to write to MS Word. It can be found on the WebUtil home page:

  • How do you create THIS "grid" in Oracle Forms

    Hi,
I am new to Forms. I have to develop a grid very similar to the one shown here.
How can you create the grid in the bottom??
I can't see using any of the standard Oracle toolbox items (like multi-record blocks) for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    User 122...

    Hi Soofi,
    Appreciate your quick response.
In the image, can you see a huge grid?
Grid column headings are days of the week, Mon, Tue, Wed etc.
Grid Rows also have names, like Room, Status and Rm. Type.
Cells have various values in various colors (red, blue, green etc) and signs like ">>".
    Can you see that??
My question is, how to create a grid like this in Oracle Forms??? We cannot do it using a multi record block.
So, how have they done it??? The form in the image is an actual Oracle Form from a hotel reservation system.
