Oracle forms .fmb to .fmt
From Forms Builder I can convert .fmb to .fmt manually, what about if I have lots of forms and I want to automate that is there a tool for that , I'll do converting from .rdf to rex
You can use the Forms compiler - command line tool... located in $ORACLE_HOME/bin/frmcmp
You can create a .bat or .sh script to loop thru all .fmb in the directory and then generate the fmt files or a script with multiple entries to call the frmcmp.exe.
i.e.
C:\Oracle\IDS10gR2\BIN\frmcmp.exe module=tsdr9010.fmb userid=***/***@*** forms_doc=yes
C:\Oracle\IDS10gR2\BIN\frmcmp.exe module=tsdr9020.fmb userid=***/***@*** forms_doc=yes

How to convert oracle form fmb file to java swing file using Jdeveloper
how to convert oracle form fmb file to java swing file using Jdeveloper. Please explain with detailes steps if possible or please give a link where it is available
thanks
Message was edited by:
user591884There is no automatic way to do this in JDeveloper. I know there are some Oracle Partners offering forms to java conversion, I don't know how much of their tools are automated and done with JDeveloper. With JDeveloper+ADF you basically rewriting the Forms application from scratch (and using ADF is helpful during this process).

Oracle Forms 9i Download Link Or Sample .fmb Required
Hi all,
I am trying to build a demo to see how to migrate Forms application to 11g using Migration Assistant.
For me to achieve this I need a sample .fmb (let it be a very simple one) created using Forms Developer 9i.
I am unable to find download link for Forms Developer Suite 9i.
Can anyone share me a simple .fmb file or download link for Oracle Forms Developer Suite 9i.
Thanks in advance..
Thanks,
Balaas far as i know you don't need the migration assistant when goind from 9i to 11g. its just a recompile.

How to Compare Two Oracle 10g Form(FMB) file.
Hi,
One developer had done some changes in one file called N004 version 2. I have done some changes in N004 version 3. If I like to see difference between two Oracle Form Version(FMB) then How can we see them..?
Thanks,
DivI'd convert it to xml before, as you can't be sure that two fmb's which are exact the same could look different in a text editor; first form got compiled with forms compiler and the second not => should not differ in functional way but I'm pretty sure that the files itself look diffrerent.

Professional Oracle Forms 6i/9i Template - FMB
Hello,
I know Forms6i in C/S and Web environment.
What I am looking for is a Professional Oracle Forms 6i/9i Template - FMB
or a tool for generating a template form with:
- "professional" (usability tested) Visual Attributes
with tested:
colors (for all kind of objects),
small and large fonts (for 1024 x 768 and higher)
for c/s and web-deployment
- personal color settings for forms with user interaction
I would prefer a form where the user/developer can set the colors of all objects for the template form (with certain colors) himself, which is stored in Database or in a local configuration file.
- with tested settings for size of objects (height) and fonts in certain resolution
- with tested generic triggers (error handling, etc)
Where can i get such a tested template master-form ?
Is there any professional product ?
Who can send me his tested template form ?
to: [email protected]Headstart Designer would be a good choice, though it might be an overshot, since it gives you more than a template, it's a whole suite of tools and design methodology. You can get it from your local support, it is given away to you if you buy a certain amount of consulting days.

How do you extract SQL from Oracle Forms and Reports files?
I am developing an "as is" data model for a government client for a 14 year old system that has three databases, 20 schemas, over 1500 tables, and over 23,000 columns. Needless to say, I do not plan to perform a manual mapping of data to screens and reports.
Most of the system has been developed in Oracle Forms and Reports. I am trying to map the live tables and columns to forms and reports.
The process here has been to save the forms and reports files as .fmb and .rdf files. The client does not have an available copy of Oracle Designer, which I understand could be used to extract the SQL.
Is there a utility somewhere that can parse the .fmb and .rdf files to extract the SQL?
Thanks,
Jim GearingJim,
I don't know of any utility that will do this. You can convert and save each fmb as a fmt so you can view/search the contents , but I don't recommend that approach.
On the other hand, you download a copy of Oracle Designer:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html
It usually is included with Oracle Forms and Reports. -

In Oracle Forms, to run all the When-Validate-Item of all the items at once
In Oracle Forms, is there any built-in / procedure / function which is used to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of all the Items at once ?
I will put it in detail :
When a form is run and while entering the data..
when we enter some data and try to move out of that item then the When-Validate-Item trigger of that item is fired and the code in that trigger is executed..
Similarly there may be many items and many When-Validate-Item triggers correspondigly in a form..
My requirement is to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of a form at once when we click a button which is created for that purpose only..
So is there any built-in / procedure / function (to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of all the items), which can be called in the When-Button-Pressed trigger of that particular button..
If any one having any solution/suggestion, please let me know..
Thanks..

Edited by: user2938447 on Nov 8, 2010 10:19 PMHi Sandy,
Thanks for your suggestion..
The validations should be done at Item level (When-Validate-Item as usually) and seperately again when a button is pressed.
So to put all the code in another block-level When-Validate-Item trigger or in any When-Button-Pressed trigger will be duplication of the code.
Actually I have around 30 Fmbs to be modified and each Fmb is having around 20 Items and almost all Items are having When-Validate-Item trigger.
So,I wanted to know whether there is any Built-in / Procedure in Oracle Forms which runs all the When-Validate-Item triggers once it is called.
Thanks.. -

Hi,
I've been working on Oracle Forms & the LAF project for the past 1 week. Im totally new to both of them.
Constantly, im getting problem in implementing CSS to oracle forms using the LAF project.
I downloaded the latest LAF package and followed the steps indicated in the LAF project site. But, when i try to run the oracle form, the CSS is not getting applied to the forms.
The whole window is shown with a white background, and the CSS gets applied only to the Grid Body part. The changes i do in the CSS file gets reflected in the Grid Body part, which means the module reads the CSS files successfully, but CSS is not getting applied to other things.
Even when i try running the sample programs provided in the LAF package its not running properly. The same problem exists. Only the Grid Body part is working.
And also, the fmb file i worked on seems to be working properly on another machine. Is it that im missing any configuration in order to make it work.
I've attached screen shots below. Please check it and help me with a solution.

Hi, I downloaded the VM "Database App Development VM" from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html and executed, on this installation, upgrade to APEX 4.2.4.00 .08 through patches.
My problem is that converting an oracle forms with the appropriate utility and making the upload in the "migrations", the server returns an error "500 Internal Server Error". The xml file is correct because this is possible to reconstruct a forms (. Fmb) working and I've tried with various forms of varying size and complexity experiencing the same error. I realized that the problem also occurs on the system of "test / demo" http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex. For the test, I followed the directions to the letter of guidance conversion forms to apex.
Someone can 'help me or found the same error?
Thank you and greetings

We have tried also with a simply form, generated ad hoc, with one block....the server also crash with error 500Thank you for your reply.
No unfortunately connecting didn't help =(
I think it's probably something to do with reading the form width/height so it can create the working area, but it fails there. The actual canvas has bigger height than my working area. Therefore I can't scroll down to see the end of my canvas. The crash happens when I click anywhere inside the working area or canvas or when i use wheel down on my mouse to scroll down. -
Migrating Oracle forms to APEX 3.2 without using Forms2XML tool
Can we migrate Oracle forms to APEX 3.2 without using Forms2XML tool?
Hi Anoo,
In order to convert Oracle Forms to Oracle Application Express, using the Forms Conversion utility in Oracle APEX 3.2, you are required to convert your Forms Module (FMB) files to XML format, using the Oracle Forms to XML conversion tool, Forms2XML. I would recommend that you review Chapter 4 [Converting an Oracle Forms Application|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/migrate.32/e13368/appmgr_forms.htm] , in the Oracle Application Express Migration Guide Release 3.2
If you have any further questions relating to the Oracle Forms to Oracle Application Express conversions, I would recommend that you refer to the [Application Express|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=137] forum.
I hope this helps.

Can we wrap the code written in Oracle Forms
Can we wrap the code written in Oracle Forms or in Reports..........
Edited by: user12889416 on 3/01/2011 21:08Usually you simply ship the compiled sources to your customers if you want to hide your code. There's no way to wrap the code within the fmb or rdf files.

Junk characters in fmt file after converting fmb to fmt
Hi,
I have a very big form (in forms 6i). I want to search for a specific table and that table has been used in many pl/sql scripts and triggers. I converted that fmb to fmt thru forms builder using Administration - convert.
Now when I open that fmt in wordpad, I see all the scripts in junk characters.
Any advise how I can get a good fmt file.
Pls suggest soon.
ThanksHi ,
What happens when you try to change the fonts in the wordpad...?????
Try , as a second option , to convert your fmb file to .xml file using the frmf2xml [options] file1 [file2...] format....
