Oracle Forms IDS on a windows 7 OS

We have had problems with forms since we moved to Vista and have just lived with the crashing as we understood it wasnt certified.
I have recently read some posts where people have fixed this constant crashing in Vista with a patch 7047034 but this says it should be installed on a 10123 IDS.
We have IDS but when i do about it is 101202. Is there a patch to get this up to 10123 as i can not find it?
Also the patch above is for the 10g db which i assume is the infrastructure installed when you install dev suite (which we dont use) but in our case is 904 i think?
Any help much appreciated

First, understand that Win7 is not a supported platform to be used with Forms/Reports 10.1.2.x. So whatever you decide to do, it will be at your own risk.
You can get from 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.3 by installing patch 5983622. This patch is available in MyOracleSupport (http://support.oracle.com). Information about getting this to work on Vista will be the same for Win7, but again this will not at all be supported by Oracle Support. More info is available in MyOracleSupport note 559067.1

  • Install Oracle Forms 10g R2 in Windows 7

    Hi,
does anyone has ever succeeded to install Oracle Form 10g R2 in Windows 7 Home Premium?
How to overcome the Jinit issue in there? Friend of mine suggested we can download the Jinit for Vista version and replace the current Jinit with it.
Do I need to change anything too in Formsweb.cfg? Windows 7 works with IE 8.
Is the Forms can work with Oracle 11g R1 client 64 bit for Windows?
    thanks in advance.

Why bother with JInit? It's long desupported. Just replace it with the latest Java Plugin, and you'll be fine.

    i have java 6 standard edition  1.6.0_34

what can i do to run those forms?

You can also refer to this OTN reference:

    Other comments:
    1.  I would not recommend using Forms 10.1.2.0 with Oracle DB 11.2.x.  Patching Oracle Forms to 10.1.2.3 would be recommended.  Using version Forms 11 would be better.
    2.  Attempting to use the Developer Tools on Windows 7 is not a great idea although it can be made to work.  Developer Suite 10 is no longer supported and was never really intended for use on Win7.  Again, patching to 10.1.2.3 is recommended and required if you plan to follow the Oracle instructions and certifications.
    3.  Installing the Forms Builder (Developer Suite) on Win7-64bit is not at all certified and was never supported.
    4.  Using Java 7 was not certified and therefore not supported for use with Forms 10.x
In general, Forms 10.1.2.x has been desupported.  Customer using this version or older should be working on a migration plan for getting to the latest supported version which is 11.1.2.1.

  • Bug in Oracle Forms Builder 6i?

When converting from binary to text in Oracle Forms Builder, the conversion is inexplicably dropping a WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD trigger for one of my data blocks.
I am running Oracle Forms Builder 6i on Windows XP with the latest patches. I couldn't find anything in the bug search that resembled this problem. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just tested this in 10.1.2.2 on XP and could not reproduce the problem. It is unlikely that this is a bug and if it was, it is very likely that it was already corrected.
Ensure that you are using 6.0.8.26. If you are using Oracle Applications you should be using 6.0.8.27.
Also, Error Correction Support for stand-alone Forms 6.0.x users ended long ago, which means that a patch cannot be provided for version 6.x.

  • How to use Java Beans in Oracle Forms 11g at 64 bit windows7

    Hello Experts,
I am using Oracle forms 11.1.2.2.0 with weblogic 10.3.6 generic at windows 7 64 bit.
    My java version is jdk1.7.0_51.
Now I have a htmlbutton.jar (which is for bean item in oracle form and this jar file works well for oracle forms 11g 32 bit windows 7 environment).
    I have takken steps:
1:-Put jar file in home\java folder.
2:-add this jar file into archive in formsweb.cfg.
3:-Add this this jar file(which is in my home- java folder) in form_class path in registry.
Now when I try to locate this jar file in my oracle form. There is no such jar file.what are the steps to use this jar file in oracle forms bean item.
Please told me what is wrong here.
    thank you
    regards
    aaditya.

It is unclear where you are having a problem.  Is your issue at runtime (when the form runs in the browser) or when working in the Builder on the form?
Also be aware that you will need to sign your jar and include some new manifest entries.  Refer to the Java 7u51 documentation and blogs that discuss the changes.

    SITUATION:
Usually the forms applet can be started with either 'separateFrame=true' (which will result in an internetexplorer-window being opened, followed by a second window containg the applet) or with 'separateFrame=false' (which will result in the applet being displayed within the standard internetexplorer-window).
Disadvantages of the first method are:
    - two tasks visible in windows taskbar, potentialle irritating for customers as the IE-window doesn't seem to be good for anything
    - the applet will close/crash on the internetexplorer-window accidentally being closed or another URL being entered
Main disadvantage of the second method is that so far we have not been able to hide this window's locationbar, menubar etc.
    SOLUTION:
Via JavaScript it is possible to open and close windows and under certain circumstances it is possible to do this without a popup asking for acknowledgement of the action being raised.
    The JS-function works as follows:
    1) assign the original html-code to a variable
    2) assign a name (e.g. 'opener') to the current window
    3) open a blank page in a new window. For this window we do not specify a name as this would prevent us from being able to open several applets in different windows (i.e. starting a second applet would cause the first applet's window to be used and thus the first applet to be closed).
    4) next, we have to replace some substrings within our variable for parsing reasons
    5) write the variable's content to the new window
    6) open any page in the window named 'opener' (e.g. 'about:blank') and refer to this window's opener. These two steps enable us to close the window without a popup being displayed.
    7) now there's only our applet window being displayed. For some yet unknown reason, the applet itself won't be executed without a reload-command.
Note: Working with IE7 (with multiple tabs), the '.close()'-operation will not close the IE-window but the current tab.
    CHANGES (HTML):
Regarding the main changes, it's not really about the code of the standard HTML page but rather about displaying this page programmatically via javascript within a new window which therefore can be customized (menubar, locationbar, size, resizability etc.).
So what we're doing is mainly creating a wrapper for the original HTML page.
It might also be possible to have the standard HTML page's code in a separate file that is being loaded from within the script, but this would result in 2 files necessary (the wrapper script and the html page) and we haven't checked if the replacement of variables (%VARNAME%) that is done by forms will still work.

  • Win XP + Oracle Forms/Reports 6i

    Hello,
I am having issues with Oracle Forms/Reports 6i with Windows XP.
I have session issues as well as printing reports problems.
I have heard that Windows XP is not a certificed operating system with Oracle Forms/Reports 6i. Can anyone confirm this to me ?
    Regards,
    PT
PS: I heard that there is a Patch issued by Oracle (Patch 11 ???) that might resolve these kind or problems (???)

    Paolo,
Patch 13 is the XP patch. However, if you install the most recent patch, then this includes patch 13.

  • RE: Oracle Forms

    Hi,all,
Is that possible to develop oracle forms or report for windows
but the Oracle running on Linux server? anybody has really done
    that sort of work ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jeff

You can develop Forms and Reports (client/server) on any
supported platform and run them on any other. You will need to
compile the source (.FMB/.RDF) files to executables (.FMX/.REP)
    on the target environment.
It's not a perfect solution, though, as subtle differences in
the GUI environments mean that a fair bit of "tweaking" can be
    required.
    My advice? Use Web Forms!

  • Is Oracle Forms builder version 10.1.2.0.2 certified with Windows 7 ?

    Hello
I need to change my old PC that is running 32 bit XP.
On this PC , I have installed Oracle Forms builder 10.1.2.0.2
I need to keep this version of forms as my customer is running the same version on linux.
I wish to upgrade my PC and install Windows7 (32 bit ) . Is Windows7 certified with Oracle Form builder 10.1.2.0.2?
    Thanks

    Hello Sunny,
I just asked that same question in a service request a few days ago and got this answer from Oracle Support:
Question "Could you please also check if Forms/Reports Builder *10g* (10.1.2.3.0) are being certified for Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit)? As far as I know Forms/Reports Builder 10g are currently not certified for Win7 at all."
    ODM Answer / Action Plan:
"According to product management and http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gR2/clientsod_forms10gR2.html , Windows 7 is certified as a client platform for 10.1.2.3, however production runtime deployments on Windows 7 is not supported for this version. You can build your Forms applications using Forms Builder on Windows 7 and test it, but when it is time to deploy it in a multi user environment, it needs to be deployed on a supported production deployment. So it should be ok to install iDS 10.1.2.3 on Windows 7 and develop your applications. The installation should be according to How to Install Developer Suite 10.1.2.3 on Windows Vista (Doc ID 559067.1). The note is for Vista, but the instructions apply for Windows 7 as well."
So I'd assume Windows 7 to be supported as well with Forms and Reports Builder 10.1.2.3.0.
