Oracle Forms Installation Problem
I am trying to install Oracle Forms Server on my computer but when I get part way into the installation I get the error message that I must stop all Oracle Services and Applications using NET8 for the NET8 installation to be successful. All my Oracle are services are stopped and I am unable to complete the installation.
Can anyone help?
Hi!
The PC which I was trying to install already Windows XP and Oracle 9i got installed. Then I was trying to install Forms6i. First I clicked the Forms6i installer and then selected the required products(I was trying to install thru custom) and then clicked 'Install'. Thats all everything disappeared. I again tried the same procedure, but everytime after I select the products and click the 'Install' nothing I could see.
I found in some forums that for Windows XP, I need to patch Patch13 or above. But without installing Forms6i how I can patch the Patch13? I found one more solution from forums that I need to reinstal Oracle9i(Oracle9i has to be installed after installing of Forms6i,preferably in a separate drive than Forms6i). As my user has time restriction I can't do this.
I am not sure these two solution may really workout or not. So can anybody help me, what I should do now? How to install Forms6i without deinstalling Oracle9i.
Thanks in advance

Oracle forms installation - some help need
I am trying to install Oracle forms - but get the follwing message:
Checking swap space: 576 MB available, 1535 MB required. Failed <<<<
Some requirement checks failed. You must fulfill these requirements before
continuing with the installation,at which time they will be rechecked.
Continue? (y/n) [n]
actually - I have no choice to choose y and try what's going on - so - is this means that I shoul add some 1.5 GB of RAM to my computer? (I have already 700MB, only 300 of them are used)? I am using WinXP, free HD is above 3.5 GB, 2.4GHz processor.
Can I try to find some workaround - e.g. simply try to copy jar's from 'stage' (direcotry in installation disk) in Oracle application server's lib directory (where it is in Oracle_Home directory?)?
Any experience with installing Oracle forms?
This was trying to run setup.exe, but when I am trying to run wsf.exe - I get:
SEVERE: Unable to locate the MDAC Update Status registry key value, probably because the installation was aborted.
MDAC possibly stands for Microsoft Data Access Components? If so - where is problem - I can run a lot of DB servers, including Oracle server itself normally?
BTW - is there any free service available for Oracle Forms skills development (e.g. as for Oracle SQL the Intel test drive is available?)
user454720OK - now I increased the max limit of my page file and now I achieved this:

however - after this I receive the standard messgae:
'setup.exe has encountered a problem and need to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience..... Please tell Microsoft about thsi problem'
actually - I have little ideas what to do further - maybe I should look for other Oracle Installer version? I am using:
Oracle Universal Installer version: 10.1.0.2.0
and I am trying to install
Oracle Deveoper Suite: 10.1.2.0.2 (so - a bit higher)
I can run OUI without any problems, my Default JRE is 1.5_1 - so - all seems to be OK?
Please - if any idea - help me :))

refno cust name mobile no weight status
12345 xxxxxxxxx 1212121 100 kg 0
details table
refno service_type status
12345 capping 0
12345 washing 0
12345 stuffing 0
12345 quality 0
12345 packing 0
same way I have to create rows in the Oracle table.
Check box
. capping
. washing
. stuffing
. packing
( easy way to user can use. check box clicked service required , un checked service is not required.. )
If check box click "capping" 1 row must be create in the detail table
If check box click "washing " 2 row must be create in the detail table
if check box click" stuffing 3rd row must be create in the detail table
If check box click " quality 4 row must be create in the detail table.
My problem is in the check box... how to specified this categories in the detail table ?

please help me...
vasanth.Hai,
we are new to oracle environment sorry,
Thank you very much for your immediate response. Master detail relation ship I created
head.refno=detail.refno
Complete Receiving form details are given below.
Refno - primary key,
Customer name -- connected customer master table...
Mobile phone
Tot weight.
Questions to customer
do you want to capping?
do you want to washing?
do you want to stuffing?
do you want to quality?
do you want to pack with plastic?
Based upon this we have send the dates to capping section, washing section, stuffing section?
Washing people based upon the detail (RNO) they will wash. all services same like.
If washing finished we have to tell the status to customer also.
Every process we have to indicate to the washing line, capping line, stuffing line. Once washed the Rno cannot display.
Final process is packing to indicated Finished.
Designing Questions
Capping, washing stuffing quality is header table or detail table. ? How to specify the all status?

Hi,
I've been working on Oracle Forms & the LAF project for the past 1 week. Im totally new to both of them.
Constantly, im getting problem in implementing CSS to oracle forms using the LAF project.
I downloaded the latest LAF package and followed the steps indicated in the LAF project site. But, when i try to run the oracle form, the CSS is not getting applied to the forms.
The whole window is shown with a white background, and the CSS gets applied only to the Grid Body part. The changes i do in the CSS file gets reflected in the Grid Body part, which means the module reads the CSS files successfully, but CSS is not getting applied to other things.
Even when i try running the sample programs provided in the LAF package its not running properly. The same problem exists. Only the Grid Body part is working.
And also, the fmb file i worked on seems to be working properly on another machine. Is it that im missing any configuration in order to make it work.
I've attached screen shots below. Please check it and help me with a solution.

Hi All,
I have a basic doubt regarding the installation of Oracle Forms & Reports. I already have an Oracle 10g database installed on my system, now in my trial for installing Oracle Forms and Reports, I am downloading the Oracle Developer suite 10g for Windows, I hope which contains both Oracle database, as well Forms & Reports. Does this mean I have to remove the existing Oracle database on my system, and then reinstall everything freshly, or can I go ahead with only installing Forms & Reports directly..
Please guide me.
Thanks!!Hi All,
Thanks for your input. I successfully installed Oracle Developer Suite on my system. Here, I have one more question, I already have JDeveloper 10g executable on my system, and with this installation I have two JDeveloper components. I will anyway delete the first one, rather uninstalling it, as it is only a executable file.
My question is whether this JDeveloper along with Oracle Developer suite an executable file or an installation? coz, had it been only an executable file I can install JDeveloper 11g on my system and have both versions running. If this JDev 10g is an installation file, then how can i install JDeveloper 11g on my system? I mean, can I now install JDeveloper 11g separately?
Many Thanks!! -
Best Practices for BI, ADF and Oracle Forms installations on Weblogic
Hi, I'm researching options on upgrading to Oracle 11g Middleware. My company currently has Oracle Forms 10g running on Oracle Application Server.
We are interested in using Oracle Forms 11g, ADF and Jdeveloper, and Business Intelligence with Oracle's Weblogic 10.3.5.
Is there any whitepapers or documentation on best practices for installing alll of these components together?
For instance, can ADF ( with JSF 2.x ) be installed in the same domain as Oracle Forms 11g but use different managed servers?
Will Business Intelligence need to be in a seperate Oracle Home with it's own weblogic installation? I spend a lot of time trying to get the JSF upgraded to 2.x in the Business Intelligence installation and could not get it to work.
I know it's a pretty broad question but thank you for any direction on this.Thanx for the reply! I read through the documents and they are very good at explaining how to install the different components individually. I still can't find much on installing them together. I hope it's not just going to be a trial and error thing.
So far I've installed done the following successfully:
Installed 10.3.5 weblogic
Forms and Reports 11g on top of 10.3.5
I've created an additional managed server for our ADF applications.
My next step is upgrading the JSF to 2.x. I would have to stage patches 12917525 and 12979653. I'm afraid it will break the forms and reports though. Any ideas? -

9i's Oracle Universal Installer problem in W2K server! Please Help.
Hi all,
I am trying to install Oracle database 9i on my w2k server (domain controller). The Oracle Universal Installer quits right after I choose install in autorun menu with this message:
'Error in writing to directory C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\OraInstall. Please ensure that this directory is writable and has at least 25 MB of Disk Space. Installation could not continue.'
I am installing as the administrator of the domain/server and I have 17GB left on my harddisk. I am using a P3 600 with 384 MB of RAM. My HD is Seagate ATAIV Baracuda and my motherboard uses VIA chipset.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
HartonoI am using Diamond TNT2 video card. I have tried to install new (not newest) detonator drive and VIA 4 in 1 driver ver4.29 but it still gives me the error. Would it help if I install Java2 runtime on this computer?

Oracle Forms - Inconsistent problem
Hi,
We have a Oracle Forms application running on Oracle 10g server.
Recently we are facing a strange issue in one of the Forms where data entered is getting saved as empty.
Form has three fields which maps to three columns of a same table - One column is of LONG DataType.
Data entered in first two columns is getting saved correctly but data entered for LONG is getting saved as empty.
Since this column holds long text, we allow the user to enter upto 4000 chars.
When this issue was raised, we didn't find anything wrong in the coding and also this form was working fine for more than a year without untouched.
After lot of analysis we found that this issue is occuring after backup activity every month using Recovery Tool in that server.
This issue in our application gets resolved once the application server is restarted which is very strange.
Again after following months backup, we get this issue again.
During the issue occurence this is wat we see... Empty information is getting stored if the no. of characters entered by user is more than 1300+ whereas this issue doesn't occur if the text entered is below 1000. One more interesting thing, the text with 1300+ characters will get saved if it is tried again without moving out of the page.
This issue is occuring for only one table and no other table which allows long text get this issue.
Is this issue is due to possibility of some buffer size, so that text greater than a limit is getting replaced with empty string?
Can a backup activity bring in inconsistency to a particular table?
If someone has any ideas/solutions/suggestions, pls reply to this post.
Regards,
RaviWould you please explain what backup activity every month using Recovery Tool is and where it's performed?!? Also you missed mentioning full forms and database versions. And last but not least: why are you using LONG columns when you let the user enter just 4000 characters? You can store 4000 BYTES in the database using a VARCHAR2(4000); In singlebyte characterset databases this means you can store 4000 characters; in multibyte characterset databases this would mean you can store up to 4000 characters (as one character can use from 1 to 3 BYTES and the maximum for a varchar2 column is 4000 BYTE).
If you are on a singlebyte characterset you simply could use a VARCHAR2(4000) instead of your LONG and thus your life would get much simpler. And as LONGs are deprecated you should consider using LOBS (CLOB) instead of LONG. What code are you using to post your LONG data?

Forms installation problem - how do I create a new default Oracle home?
I am new to Oracle so please forgive my utter ignorance. My impression of Oracle because of how an installation
has to be done is taking a nosedive. I thought Microsoft was bad with all the re-booting but the explanation that I
read in Anubhav Seth's post about installing Dev 6i before 8i and the suggestion (not a requirement) to format the
harddisk and reinstall Windows just leaves me with my jaw hanging open. I'm having a little trouble swallowing that
one.
Here's my situation... I'm running 8i at home and I am using it for the Oracle courses that I am taking at a local
university. So 8i with its SQL*Plus has been all I have needed to date. Now we have a project to do that involves forms.
So I go to the OTN page for downloads and downloaded file 6irel2nt.exe which is 264 MB in size. This file, I assume,
has forms in it -- what else I don't know because things are not explained all that well on the web site or I don't know
where to look (which implies poor organization of the web pages).
I run the 6irel2nt.exe file and end up with 11,128 new files on my computer. That's nice. I run the setup file and a step or
two into it it complains that my 'Ora81' home is already being used and that I need to install it into another Oracle Home.
Now I'm trying to find out how I create another Oracle Home. I perform a search in GOOGLE on "creat default Oracle
home" and basically get nowhere. My $50+ "Oracle 8i A Beginner's Guide" from Oracle Press mentions Oracle Home
on one page (pg. 170) but is completely useless in this case. My $184 worth of Oracle University manuals (which
are really PowerPoint slides) is useless too. My next step will be to comb through the FAQs. All this because I cannot
believe that I have to totally uninstall one product to get another to install and then reinstall the first one. That is INSANE!
If I have gone way off track please feel free to blast me but if this is true then all I can say is that the folks at Oracle need
a lesson in KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)! Computers and computer software are supposed to make our lives simpler
not complicate the holy hell out of them. I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry about the whining.I ended up uninstalling 8i and then I installed Dev 6i (Forms) and then I reinstalled 8i. I had some problems
installing Dev 6i because of this error "path.vrf(86): Unbound variable 'path_too_long_prompt'". Right after this error
appears I get a dialog that states, "The Oracle Installer cannot update the system path variable to %new_path%
because it is too long. Please restrict your system path to 127 characters and make sure D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin
is included in your path."
The path D:\Oracle\OraWin95 was what I set up for this installation.
What I did to work around this problem was this...
(1) Go to Start - Accessories - System Tools - System Information.
(2) Click on the Tools menu
(3) Select System Configuration Utility
(4) Select the Autoexec.bat tab
(5) I added D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin to my PATH variable and unchecked the checkbox next to one of the several
lines that I have that build my PATH variable. (I have several PATH lines that simply add a path to the system
variable %path%). After the installation is complete you can go back and turn back on the paths that you had disabled.
After installing 8i I did have a problem connecting to the database. I got this error:
Error: ORA-01034 Oracle not available
I believe this happened because I had forgotten to turn back on some of my PATH information that I mentioned
earlier. After checking one of my PATH variables and rebooting, this problem disappeared.
When reinstalling 8i and when the installation asks for an SID and you enter the SID you had used in the original
installation you may get a notice that says the SID already exists. I think this happens because the uninstall does not
clean up the registry totally, so I entered a different one. Later on, after the installation has been completed and you
are connecting to your database, you will be prompted to select an SID -- just make sure that you select the SID from
the latest installation.
I should've mentioned first that in preparing for this whole ridiculous exercise I created a directory under my Oracle
directory that I was going to use as the new 'Oracle home.' So I guess that's all one has to do to create a new Oracle
home -- just have another directory ready to install 'stuff' into.
All in all, this a pretty asinine exercise. Oracle really needs to fix this mess. I honestly thought Microsoft was bad but
this takes the cake. I wonder if SQL Server is this screwed up. -
Oracle 9iAS Installation Problem on HP-UX - f90servlet, hangs
PLATFORM: HP-UX 11i (Server)
-------- Windows XP, NT (Client)
INSTALLATION:
1. On a HP box, using oracle installer, installed Oracle 9.0.2 Infrastruture successfully. Installation & configuration went with no errors.Used JDK 1.3.1 build (1.3.1.02) for installation.
2. On the same HP box, using oracle installer, installed Oracle 9.0.2 Business Intelligence (Forms & Discoverer) successfully. Used JDK 1.3.1 (build 1.3.1.02) for installation.
3. Loaded Jinitiator 1.3.1.8 on the client platform
(Windows XP).
PROBLEM:
While trying to access
http://hpbox:7778/forms90/f90servlet, we see the following line on the Java Console.
"Downloading http://hpbox:7778/forms90/java/f90all_jinit.jar to JAR cache". The browser keeps showing "Loading Java Applet". When i look at the Cache location, i see the file f90all_jinit.jar-4cf20c5f-178c08b8(zipped). The size of this file stays the same even though browser keeps spinning. Not sure what is going on. I've verified that the Forms servers is still running on the HP box.
Tried Jinitator 1.3.1.6, 1.3.1.8, 1.3.1.9 and 1.3.1.13. We've also tried Windows XP (IE6) as well as Windows NT (IE5). Same result on all the platforms.
Had spent a LOT of time trouble shooting this problem. Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi,
I am trying to install Weblogic 7.01 evaluation copy on HP-UX 11.00.After exporting
DISPLAY variable to my workstation, when I run "./server701_hpux.bin",the extraction
of the files is successful, followed by some warning messages regardingthe fonts
and then the BEA Weblogic startup screen comes up. But it hangs thereforever.
I am attaching the output. If I run "./server..." in text mode i.e.without
exporting DISPLAY variable, although the installation of Weblogic softwareis
successful, but it hangs at "Copying JDK..." i.e. hangs at JDK installation.
I already have JDK installation on my HP-UX system (1.3.1_02).
If someone knows how to solve this problem, please let me know. Also,as I already
have JDK installation on my system, is it possible to disable JDK installation
in weblogic installation.
Thanks in Advance.
