Oracle Forms/Portal

Does anyone have any knowledge on how to import/integrate Oracle Forms with Portal. I have created and application using forms, and i want to somehow export this application into Portal? I have heard this can be done using a stored procedure. Any Suggestions???

IF your having that form in portabloe mode like procedure,
then a database import of that procedure to the portal instance where the application owner is residing, will do job for you.
Every applcation is associated with an appplication owner => database schema.
To make ur things work try doing the following.
1) Create an applciation with <my_app_name> on the schema <my_schema>
2) Export the procedure and import it in the database schema <my_schema>.
3) Grant execute privilege on <portal_public> to this procedure.
4) Create a from on this procedure and try executing this form.
And let us know, the problems you are encountering.

You can create roles in Oracle with the appropriate privileges to access the application. For example,
you could create a role that has only read access to all the tables in the database. You could assign this role to the menu. Also, you may want a role for a manager that whould enable him to insert data or to see a few special forms. You could assign this role to the menu associated with the form.
Using Form Builder, you can manage menu security with Oracle server roles. After defining the roles to use for a menu module, you could then specify the roles that have access to each menu item. When you set the 'Use Security' property of a menu module to 'Yes', the form enforces security. After setting the 'Use Security' property to 'Yes', you can use 'Module Roles' property to construct the entire list of roles with access to that menu module.
    I hope it helps.

  • Integrating Oracle forms in Portals- URGENT

    Hi,
How to integrate the Oracle forms/ reports (From an existing application) in Oracle portals?

You need to use External Applications for this.

  • Import  oracle forms into portal

Can anyone please give me some pointers in importing forms created by orcale forms into portal?

There is no direct way to import your Oracle Forms into Oracle Portal, as the Forms within our Portletbuilder components are of a smaller, simpler functionality set than that provided within Oracle Forms.
What I would recommend is to invoke your Oracle Forms from Portal by integrating Forms with Oracle Single-Sign-On (SSO). Integration of Oracle Forms with Oracle SSO is described in Chapter 5 of the Oracle9iAS Forms Services Deployment Guide, available here on OTN:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/B10170_01.pdf
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
You can have a look at Metalink Note: 132858.1 ( Is it possible to publish Reports6i/Forms6i as portlet within Portal? ).
The note is basically for Portal 3.0.9.x, but the concepts discussed in this Note shoutd give you the necesssary ideas.

  • Oracle Forms and portal

Does any one know how to integrate oracle forms into portal. I am using Oracle 10g?
    Thanks

How do you want the integration to function? Do you just need a form to run on a page or do you need the form to interact with Portal functionality?
The former is easy to accomplish with a frame portlet. The latter not so easy but doable. Using the database as the common denominator its possible to have Forms interact with Portal thru PLSQL and data tables acting as state repositories.

  • Enterprise portal integration with Oracle forms

    Hi
Can anyone help me on this .
"Enterprise portal integration with Oracle forms".
I want to integrate oracle forms to EP .I am trying to work with app Integrator but I am not able to make any headway.Do you have any documents pertaining to this or any place where I can look for details.
    Thanks
    Alok

    Hi,
i'm not aware of special integration feature with Oracle forms, but if as you said we are talking about a web application available via url then i see no problem doing so. the way you can implement the SSO is using something called Application Integrator which helps you build smart URL iView's that can use the portal framework (like systems, user profile , etc) , so you can build your oracle forms integration iView that will take the user password data from the portal (via system) using user mapping or sap logon tickets.
for more details on Application Integrator see
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/70/5a3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
regarding to the java applet, i don't really know what you mean by "jinitiator" but if your regular browser can do it then i see no reason for problems.
    i hope it helps

  • Difference between Oracle Portal & Oracle Forms

What is the difference between Oracle Portal & Oracle Forms and when would use
    them?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Oracle Portal is like a Website that acts as a "doorway" to the Internet or a portion of the Internet, targeted towards one particular subject. Oracle Portal is very popular among developers & architects who wish to aggregate content from multiple souces and present them to the users on a single WebSite.
Oracle Forms is a long-established technology to design and build enterprise applications quickly and efficiently. You can develop your enterprise applications in Oracle Forms easily, by using it's out-of-the box "drap & drop" features and enriched programming features.
Forms is used to develop enterprise applications - Portal is used as a "doorway" to many such enterprise applications. It's a crude way of answering your question " when to use Forms / Portal ? ", but I guess it would give you an idea.......
    Good Luck !

  • Oracle AS Portal forms with CSS

    hey guys,
I have an Oracle AS Portal 10gR2. I have created forms on that portal. Is there any way to change the look and feel of the control buttons (save, update, delete, .. etc) in those portal forms (color, size, etc)? and how can that be done using css or another way

Portal have his own Styles for such things, where you can modify the font type, size, color and other things for pages as well for forms objects. For buttons I'm not quite shure but I remember that there is a way to change this buttons for an specific image.
    Greetings.

  • Setting Oracle form on Portal

    Hi All,
I'm developing oracle form on portal that will be used for 38 branches. Every branch has their own data (using the same table) but the same form, the different is only selecting their own data. I have no idea how to implement this other than creating 38 form for each branches. so 1 changes on a form should be replicated to 38 branches. Can i configure 1 form for every branches?
    best regards,
    ~Diko~

Seems to me like implementing VPD in your database would be your best bet. By setting a context, you can ensure that each branch will see only the data relevant or specific to that branch.
    Hope this helps

  • Integrate a Oracle Forms Application in SAP Enterprise Portal

    Hello togheter,
i would like to integrate a Oracle Froms Application in our SAP Enterprise Portal. We use Oracle Froms AS 10g v10.0.2. I read that oracle forms supports single-sign-on, but i don't understand exactly how does it works? What steps i need to do? Has anybody experience in this topic? Supports oracle forms application SAP Logon Tickets?
Many thanks in advance and greetz,

    Hello, thanks for your answer.
I can't use the first option from you, because of the necessity to use SAP Logon Tickets.
If i understand everthing right, it is possible to implemant the SAP-Logon-Ticket-Libary in the integrated application. By Oracle Forms is this not possible, because it is a framework application. The authentification to the Oracle Forms application is transferred over the Oracle Application Server. It is also no possiblity to implement the libary in the application server.
Today i talked to the Oracle Support and they said that one solution is to use the Oracle Access Management as Middle-Software between SAP EP and Oracle Application Server.
What do you think about this solution? It is really not possbile to integrate Oracle forms in SAP EP with SAP-Logon-Ticket without an extra software?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Oracle Portal, Application Express, Oracle Forms/Reports 10g - which one?

    Hi,
I have Oracle 10g database and Application Express installed on one linux box.
second linux box has Oracle HTTP server running from where i call the htmldb pages.
3rd linux box has Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 installed along with SSO, Portal 10.1.4 , Forms Server etc.
Now, i see there are 3 ways i can develop web applications
    1. using Application Express and http server which is very basic and simple.
    2. using Oracle Forms/Reports 10g and forms/reports server
    3. Oracle Portal 10.1.4 in Application Server 10.1.2
Can someone guide me, which one of the above 3 is worth sticking on forever for developing web applications. i am really not sure which one of the above is best for Web developement in terms of long term planning. and i believe all 3 of the above can be integrated with Oracle SSO for authentication.
Can someone guide me please to select one of the above and can you explain me why for my better understanding of the different tools?
    Thanks,
    Philip.

    Hi Philip.
If you already have Oracle Portal, I think that portal is the best solution.
Portal can be integrated with others applications using SSO.
Oracle portal have a lot of features that help you to develop web applications.
If portal does not offer what you want, you can develop your own portlets using java or plsql.
Take a look at the default home page of oracle portal.
Look better the features that portal offer to you.

    Thanks.

Thanks in advanced. If you're writing your own partner application, then you are correct to get the user information from the output variables
from the parse_url_cookie procedure. You should then set the information you want to keep track of in the cookie, or combination
of cookie and persistent storage in the database. Take care of the security implications while doing this.
On subsequent calls to your application, the user info should be obtained from the cookie and the database, if you
are using a combination of the cookie and database storage to keep your info.
The owa_cookie.get routine is used to read the cookie, which is generated with owa_cookie.send.
These routines work fine, when invoked correctly.
If you are having trouble with them, you're probably not using the calls properly.
The following code provides an example of how to use the owa_cookie calls...
    create or replace package testcookie
    is
        procedure show (p_name IN VARCHAR2);
        procedure send
            p_name    IN VARCHAR2,
