Oracle Forms (Support & Certification) on Linux RedHat AS 4.0 (Intel 32bit)

Hello,
Does anybody know for sure if Oracle is certifying Forms (part of Application Server 10.1.2.2) on Linux RedHat AS 4.0 (Intel 32 bit). We are trying to move from v3.0 to v.4.0, however without Oracle support, that might not happen.
Any help or guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Kunal Bansal

I did search in Metalink indeed. This document is really the latest certification they have. But funny thing is that the rda.sh script Oracle released checks for RH4 in addition to RH3. I have my test iAS server (10.1.2.0.2) and iDS (same version) installed on RH 3 (just in case) but I have installed iAS server in 2 different places (for deployment) on RH 4 - both went just fine. I know there is a document on Metalink, explaining how to install on RH 4 - basically, they released a small patch set for those who wants to install on RH 4. I did apply that patchset (it is for OUI not for the forms). My quick solution to implement this patchset was to create a staging directory (disk1, ...) and then replace couple of files located under disk1 staging directory with the files that comes with the patchset (unzipped into a separate place), then start the installation of 10.1.2.0.2 on RH 4. Everything then went just perfect on RH 4. No problems reported so far (2 separate installations on 2 separate sites on RH 4). I don't know if this helps but just wanted to provide some feedback.

  • Unable to install Oracle 9.0.1 on Linux RedHat

    Hi,
I am unable to install Oracle 9.0.1 on Linux RedHat, tried many times. While installing i get following errors-
"Error in invoking target install of makefile
    /usr/oracle/9.0.1/plsql/lib/ins-plsql.mk"
"error in invoking target ioracle of makefile
    /usr/oracle/9.0.1/rdbms/lib/ins-rdbms.mk"
"Error loading native library : libnjni.so"
Installation halts while configuring Net Confugration Assistant....
    Any workaround ???
    Thanks in advance.

There are many versions of RedHat. Your post indicates you are using one of them, but your post really does not give a hint as to which one. Funny thing is - different versions have different install requirements.
I really don't understand why operating system version is such a big secret. Especially since it is logically so critical to installation issue. Even when installing on Windows, the first questions is 'which Windows'.
You have, of course, followed the suggestions at http://www.puschitz.com and noted the errors and workarounds, have you not.
Especially about things like packages and versions.

  • Oracle Forms 11g certification

    Hello,
I wanna know if there is any certification for Oracle Forms 11g. If not, when will be available?
    Thanks

yes but 11 contains support for JMS for example, which 9 does not support. this does not mean that someone certified on 9 will know everything about 11It is always (or at least nearly always) the case that the topics in a certification exam represent a subset of what could be included.
If the core of the current forms topics remains valid across versions, and i suspect it does, the cost/benefit/issues from an exam revision may not be appropriate for oracle.
In general the main target/userbase of this certifcation may well be as a target from the developer WDP program.
There are arguments for the certifcation/exam to be revised, Oracle may have business reasons not to do so.

  • Installing Oracle 8.1.7 on Linux RedHat 7.1

I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on a Linux RedHat 7.1 machine with P4 1.7GHz. I 've tryed all the papers I found on the net for setting the user accounts and groups, linking with the old gcc libraries, etc. The problem is that after starting the OUI and when a window pops-up that spans the products list available, the whole operation finishes too quicly without reaching the 100%. At the next screen when I am trying to give the Instalation Unix group - should be oinstall/dba - I press next and get the message "Unable to setup Inventory. You may not have proper permisions". The machine has 256MBs Ram and 520MB Swap file on a 20GB HDD.Has anyone else seen this before? I couldn't find anything on the net. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
In the user where you are trying to install Oracle, give the following command at the prompt.
    $ umask
The result should be "022". If it is not, connect as root and change the umask-settings of the user.
    $ umask 022 <user-name>
and connect as the user, where you are trying to install and run the Installer.
    Hope this will work,
    Murali.

  • Oracle Forms&Reports certification - choose the right path

    Dear professionals,
I'm Oracle Forms and Reports developer for about 10 years. Now, I'm on the way to become Forms and Reports certified professional (either to be Forms Developer Professional or Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Forms Developer):
    https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:177#tabs-1-3
In order to achieve my goal, first I have to pass Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate exam:
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:PLSQl
After I read one of @matthew_morris articles, I decided to choose in the step one exam (1Z0-051 Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I). I prepared this exam.
Now, I'm preparing for the next step where I have to pass one of these exams:1Z0-147 Program with PL/SQL or 1Z0-144 Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL
What's your suggestion for me (since I'm developer and tend to be in the future)? I carefully read the next article but I still have some dilemmas:
    http://ezinearticles.com/?Oracle-PL/SQL-Developer-Certification:-1Z0-147-or-1Z0-144?&id=7190832
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Adnan

I will say I am biased toward 1z0-144.
    And very anti 1z0-147.
and believe 1z0-147 has bad practices (and training material certainly has), unless it has been overhauled to 2015 standards.  It has probably introduced and left many newbies in the dinosaur ages.
I think 1z0-147 has some client size programming orientations, but that said i feel it is more to say Forms 4.5 standards.  It is nowhere near 12c !
It also got scheduled for withdrawal at some point but got a last minute retrieve ( https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_01).
I wonder if was due to the oracle ODP programme still teaching for it much later than they should have been .... ( if my sarcasm continues i would get red carded so i shall shut up).

  • Oracle 10gR2  RAC / Dataguard on Linux Redhat 4.2  X86_64 and ASM / OCFS2

    Hi All,
Well don't know if this is bleeding edge or not, but wanted to know if anybody has a system running the following setup and if there are any issues like some components are not certified on 64 bit (e.g is OCFS2)
We are in process of building a system with
    Oracle RAC on 10gR2 on a 64 bit Linux OS 4.2 (2.6.9-22.ELsmp)
The system has a EMC CX500 and we are going to use ASM for the datafiles and OCFS2 for the Voting Disk and OCR.
We are also going to have a single (no RAC) Physical Dataguard instance at another site also using ASM.
We have seen that the OEM Grid Controller and agents are not supplied on x86_64
so we can't use it in a 64bit environment. (are we correct)
Anybody with suggested alternatives with the kit we have or a strong suggestion that 32 bit for RAC and Dataguard are best
    Thanks in advance
    John

I have a similar configuration, 3 nodes of SunFire X4100 (dual opteron), on RedHat 4 ES Update 2 using Dell/EMC CX300.
I am using OCFS2 for data and voting disks.
We had a couple of freeze-up (total node lockup) and I could not figure out what was wrong (this happens randomly).
Anybody have any idea where should I look for possible reasons?

  • Pl/SQL reqd 4 Oracle forms developer certification ??

    Hi,
I want to learn forms & reports. I want to learn it & then go for certification.
But, for this knowledge of PL/SQL is required ????
Or are they both are totally different ( not related) ??
    Thanks..

Hi closeguy, an understanding of PL/SQL is pretty key really if you want to work with Oracle products so it is a very good place to start.
The reason I say 'is pretty key' is that at the end of the day the database stores data. At some point you use SQL to create and modify data in the database. PL/SQL is the Procedural Langauge (PL) for SQL so it allows you to 'program' the use of SQL. When you create/ install a database, PL/SQL scripts will be run as part of the install to create various pl/sql packages, functions etc.
One easy thing with PL/SQL is that it is a very logical/ procedural language and quite easy to understand once you look at it. For example to read a PL/SQL Package is quite easy once you have looked at a few.
Another key thing for you to think about is that java is a big component with a lot of Oracle products and increasingly used. This object-orientated language is very different to PL/SQL so if you want to be comfortable with many Oracle products this is a good thing to spend some time on.
Bear in mind also that Forms and Reports have been around for a long time and there are a few newer technologies used in the Oracle environment. For info on these search for ADF in OTN and also OAF if you are/ would like to work with the current version of Oracle Applications.
    Good luck with Forms
    Cel

  • Oracle forms builder 11g on linux

I OPEN A FMB WITH FORMS BUILDER 11G ON SUSE LINUX BUT THE PROGRAM UNITS(PROCEDURES,FUNCTIONS AND TRIGGERS) ARE CORRUPT.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM?

Do you have metalink access? If so read note 969422.1 as this sounds exactly like your problem.
Basically it's a problem with the NLS_LANGUAGE you are using (basing on some cyrillic characters in your "edited by" text I am assuming you are using a russian nls_language).
also please turn off your caps lock ;)

The release notes by JavaFX2.1 System, requirements says "Ubuntu 10.04 or later with GTK gtk2 2.18 or later. "
It means that JavaFX will not work on Redhat 5 linux version ? If not, when will JavaFX be supported on Redhat?
In other word, how to make JavaFx working on Redhat 5 Linux that is our Linux version of ADC machines ?

    Not for 2.2.

  • Integrate a Oracle Forms Application in SAP Enterprise Portal

    Hello togheter,
i would like to integrate a Oracle Froms Application in our SAP Enterprise Portal. We use Oracle Froms AS 10g v10.0.2. I read that oracle forms supports single-sign-on, but i don't understand exactly how does it works? What steps i need to do? Has anybody experience in this topic? Supports oracle forms application SAP Logon Tickets?
Many thanks in advance and greetz,

    Hello, thanks for your answer.
I can't use the first option from you, because of the necessity to use SAP Logon Tickets.
If i understand everthing right, it is possible to implemant the SAP-Logon-Ticket-Libary in the integrated application. By Oracle Forms is this not possible, because it is a framework application. The authentification to the Oracle Forms application is transferred over the Oracle Application Server. It is also no possiblity to implement the libary in the application server.
Today i talked to the Oracle Support and they said that one solution is to use the Oracle Access Management as Middle-Software between SAP EP and Oracle Application Server.
What do you think about this solution? It is really not possbile to integrate Oracle forms in SAP EP with SAP-Logon-Ticket without an extra software?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Oracle 8.1.6 on Linux 7.0

I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.6 on Linux 7.0 on an intel machine with 256MB RAM and 512MB swap. I have religiously followed all the steps in the installation manual except changing kernel parameters and recompiling- I am not comfortable with making kernel changes and also for this test installation, I feel the default values may be sufficient.
The software is installing perfectly & at the time of database creation, it flashes an error during the initialisation phase that it is 'Not connected to Oracle'. I tried recreating the database but the same error keeps repeating.
    any suggestions?
